I had used the website to put in a request for an estimate. I asked to have them quote for rekeying my front and back storm doors. The person who called me was courteous and professional. The appointment was scheduled for 9 am the following day. He called me at 8:40 and said he would be to my house in 9 minutes. When he hadn't arrived by 9:20 I called and he told me he was supposed to be there at 9:30. He had a thick accent and I was willing to chalk it up to my not understanding what he was saying. He called me at 9:38 to tell me he would be there in 4 minutes. He finally arrived close to 9:50. He was driving a rental car w/o a sign on the side. He didn't have/show me any ID. He never personally identified himself (i.e. name, or anything other than I am the locksmith). He was on his cell phone on and off the whole time. 5 minutes after arriving he told me he had to go give something to a friend and he would be back in 20-25 minutes with better tools. I confirmed he will be back by 10:20 and he left. He called me at 10:25 to tell me he would be there in 6 minutes and finally showed up after 10:35. While he was gone I called his company back to confirm he actually worked for them. They told me they would have his supervisor call me right back in 5-10 minutes. I waited and no one called. I called back after 15 minutes and was told they would call me right back, I asked to be conferenced in with them instead of waiting. They gave me pushback, but ultimately agreed ... then hung up on me after a minute or two of hold music. When the tech arrived a second time he told me he would have to special order the lock for the back door and gave me a price for the front door. I agreed to just the front. He started working then tried to upsell me to a new lock on the front door with a line about me caring about my family. I agreed. He started to take apart the lock and then came and told me he couldn't use the new lock as it was too large (the old lock had a lock on both the outside and the inside) how he missed this very obvious detail is beyond me. He then told me he would have to charge me twice for the rekey (2 locks) and I balked. He finally agreed to do it a small discount. It took him a long time to complete the work. (when he started he said 15 minutes) When he finished the locks both work okay, not great and the key hole is vertical on the outside, but crooked (45 degrees) on the inside. I offered to pay him by check and he refused. I called my wife who was on her way home to ask her to get cash (she was 5 minutes away) and he told me he couldn't wait. After waiting for a minute more he told me he would take it by check. All told his first communication with me was at 8:40 and he left my house after noon. 15 minutes indeed...
Description of Work: Rekey front and back storm door. Back door would have taken special order (I opted out). Front door took him two trips and multiple hours. Didn't notice that the front door had an inside and outside lock before quoting price. Tried an upsell. Work is passable, but sloppy (key hole on outside is more or less vertical, inside is at a 45 degree angle).
