Jeff reached out to us after I'd searched for someone to fix our dryer which had stopped working (we didn't know what was wrong with it). We hadn't heard from anyone else yet, and he offered to come out the following morning, so we went ahead with him. I'd read the positive reviews on his other page on Angie's list (and hadn't bothered to scroll down to read through the negative ones - I should have!) He looked at the dryer in the basement and said we needed to replace the mechanics for the start switch and the setting switch, for a total of $125, and he'd have to go out to buy the parts. We were hesitant because the dryer is old - we were wondering if we should just get a new dryer instead, but he said he'd checked out the whole dryer and everything besides those two switches looked in great shape, so we went ahead with it. He went out to get the parts and came right back to do the fix. When he was done, he just came upstairs and didn't show me the dryer working, which should have been a red flag. He said it was all set and asked for payment. As I was signing the invoice, I asked if he'd tested it to make sure it was working properly and he said yes, it's heating and everything. Then he casually mentioned that we would have to turn the start switch first from now on and then turn the setting switch afterward. The next day when we used the dryer for the first time, we turned it on according to his instructions, and the dryer didn't spin at all, and there was a burning smell. That was a Wednesday. I texted him to see if he could come back to look at it, and didn't hear back. Thursday I called and left a voicemail, and still didn't hear anything. By that point we were concerned since he'd been very responsive in our previous communication with him, so it seemed like he was scamming us. Friday I called and left another voicemail mentioning the BBB and sent him a text and sent him an email, and finally he called me saying that he'd had trouble with his phone, and he could come back on Monday. On Monday, he said he found the belt had snapped and needed to be replaced, and there was a lot of lint built up in the front of the dryer that could have caused the burning smell. He said he'd looked up the model number of our dryer over the weekend and figured out how to fix the issue with the switches working in the wrong order. He was going to charge us another $25 for the belt replacement. Why didn't he find the dryer lint issue or broken belt the first time? He said he didn't open the front of the dryer last time because that wasn't the issue and it's time consuming to look there because you have to take the whole dryer apart. But how did he know there wasn't an issue with it if he didn't open it up? Why did he tell me that he'd looked at everything and it was all in great condition besides the switches? And if it took so long, how come he was able to take that all apart, fix the belt, put it all back together, and fix the issue with the switches in less than half an hour on this visit? And he said it "must have just been a coincidence" that the belt broke immediately the first time we used it after he was here. Couldn't have been that the reason he didn't show me the dryer operating the first time was because it wasn't operating. Why didn't he take the time to look up how to properly fix the switches the first time he came? Maybe because he charges a flat fee for labor, so he cuts corners. I don't know if we even needed the new switches in the first place, so that was maybe $125 + tax down the drain. Then when we pushed back on having to pay for the belt, he finally angrily said that he wouldn't charge us if we leave him "a REALLY glowing review." I said we'd leave an honest review and he said please don't do anything. So I don't know how much you can trust any positive reviews on here - maybe he's tried to bribe other people for a good review after doing shoddy work as well.

Jeff did a great job of getting things right. He replaced a defective part and had to make a second trip to do so. He went the extra mile for the customer. I would hire again.

Chris contacted me after I looked for quotes on Angie’s List . He came to do the diagnosis the next day . He told me I had a bad heater element . I never saw him check the element . The element was in tact before he disassembled the dryer . Now the element is broke . He told they don’t sell the element by itself . I would need the whole unit . He told me it would be $310 to fix the dryer . He needed $95 for the diagnosis and $130 for the part to get started . $225 total . He came back the next day with the heater assembly . The dryer didn’t get heat . He said he would come back the next day . He didn’t come back and he left the dryer disassembled . He sent me a text with a refund of $130 and told me to get another contractor . He didn’t diagnose my dryer problem . He broke the heater element that was in place originally .
