Building Character LLC

The owner of Building Character LLC, Jared Riddell, agreed to take a look at it. He arrived at the scheduled time and examined the deck. His estimate and time frame to complete were to my liking so I hired him and his crew. They did an awesome job. Work was completed in one day. They cleaned up the area and hauled all debris away. Plus it looks great! I am very pleased. No more worrying about a collapse. Thank you Building Character LLC!

We got a very professional estimate within a couple of days of meeting with Jared. The estimate included professional drawings and materials listing. They were able to start the job much quicker than originally anticipated. They completed the job quickly, although this time of year, the days are much shorter and they were working after dark and took a couple of extra days to complete. They cleaned up after the work was complete and left things pretty neat at the end of each workday. The deck looks beautiful. I think we will be very happy using it once the weather gets better.

Scheduled an appointment for an estimate. Showed up took about an hour to measure and told me estimate would be in by the end of the week. Never heard back from them, wasted my time.

Employees showed up on time a gave great suggestions on what stain to use. Would recommend for similar work.

We love our deck again! Jared is responsive and professional, and had some great ideas for enhancing the beauty of our deck without having to replace it. We got an estimate quickly, they were able to start the project early, and finished quickly. The crew did a great job, and cleaned up after the work was complete. Quality craftsmanship at a very fair price. We are looking forward to working with Jared on our next project. Highly recommended.

The company worked hard and did everything in a very professional manner.

A fair amount of difficulty administratively. Several email and phone calls before a return call was made. After that the physical work proceeded in a timely fashion. Actual person who did the work was very good.

The new deck is absolutely beautiful and very soundly constructed. The attention to detail could not have been better, and we are extremely pleased with the final product as well as with the professionalism and evident skill of Building Character's workmen.

Company never made contact to do the work.

It did not. Was contacted promptly by email requesting my phone number which I responded to. Eight days and 2 more emails from me requesting to make appointment, I got a call from "Josh". Josh scheduled job for 9:00 am Sept 5 but did not show by 9:30. I called; left message and he called back that it was too wet. Rescheduled for 9:00 am Sept 6. Again, 9:30 came around and I left a message. No reply and no show. All in all very bad experience with vendor. Prompt refund made by Angies List on Sept 5.

Came out told me about themselves. Had us pick colors for the deck. Got the colors to them and were waiting on the design to be sent to us. Then they just disappeared. No return phone calls nothing. Last contact was at the beginning of July and it is now mid-September. Now trying to find someone else.

Never showed. Had death in family, understood delay. 2 weeks later asked when they would be out as we had furniture in garage waiting to be placed. Was told if in hurry to find someone else. Want my money back again!!! 2nd time failed

Scheduling was a little difficult at first, but when they got here, everything went great. I didn't know they were here. I will use them next time I need deck work done.

Will never purchase an Angie list deal again. Spent $100 on deck repair. Received a call and scheduled. Day of appointment rained received a call to cancel and reschedule. Then received a call the person no longer worked there and was work done? Said no and informed would call. Next few weeks a person calls and says again "where are we?". Schedule an appointment and no show again. I don't have the number and requested a refund from Angie's list. Have not heard from them either so I am out $100. Shocked to see they are running another deal.

The work took longer that I wanted, but weather and other issues were a factor. They did a good job with my deck.

Still waiting for the job to be finished. Pretty much went as planned with the pressure washing and the guy, John was pleasant enough. After that, he did not show up on the agreed upon date to do the sealing and didn't call. I think I did talk to him once after that and he said he would come that day and he didn't. I told him I would be out of town for a few days and would call when I got back. Which I did and my call was not returned. When I called Jared Ridell Riddell, whose company I assume Building Character is, he told me John's grandfather was in Intensive Care and he was off work. He would get somebody else over to finish the job as soon as possible. I commented that I was sorry about John's grandfather (which I was) but he still could have returned my call and let me know what was going on. Mr. Riddell replied that he was not responsible for what John did or didn't do. Seems to me if it's Mr. Riddell's company, he is very much responsible for what his employees do or don't do. Completely unprofessional response and more than a little rude. I believe the job will get finished but I am not at all happy with this company

I would use them again, They did a good job.
