Although there were delays from the manufacturer of the rail, Jared did the best he could to try to keep the project on schedule. We are very happy with the final product. Jared and his team were very professional and they did an excellent job when a lesser contractor might have tried to cut corners.

II got several bids for a deck to be built off the back of my home. When meeting with the contractors I immediately felt that Jarrod would be the one I was most confidant with. The price was vey good. We had to wait for all the permits but when work started, it was efficient, the crew was there when they said they would be there. The quality of the work is excellent!. Jarrod provided a computerized drawing prior to starting work and the outcome was spot on to the drawings. When they were finished for the day the crew was vey good with clean up. Once the job was finished my yard and deck were spotless. The crew members were very professional, kept me informed of any issues. I plan to have have Jarrod complete another project in my home and would recommend this company to others without hesitation.

The provider came out and measured and looked at area for the deck. He said he would have the deck plans in a couple weeks. I have not heard from him at all and do not have the deck plans and estimate that I paid for. Hopefully he will contact me very soon and provide what I paid for since I think he was paid by Angie's List already.

.We decided we wanted a quality custom built shed built on a deck overlooking our woods. Larry, and avid gardener had many tools, machines and other supplies which needed a home. Until now, they were in make-shift shelters.in various parts of the yard. He had previously checked out the sheds at Home Depot and Lowe's. We didn't like any of them and found poor reviews of these sheds on line We had been burned by a private contractor before finding Angie's list, so we were leery .We called businesses listed in the magazine and had several private contractors come for estimates.. Jared came out at our convenience in the evening to survey the site and find out what we would like him to do. We were impressed with his integrity, knowledge and the insightful suggestions to fulfill our vision.Although ithere's was not the lowest bid, we signed with Building Character for these reasons. He started the project soon after, having supplies delivered the day day before he planned to begin. He and his crew worked efficiently and we were very pleased with the shed. Then we realized we had no space to put the tall tools. Jared returned at no charge and modified the shed. We highly recommend Building Character to anyone wanting a quality addition to their yard.

The deck in the house we purchased this year was not well built and was bowing with the boards pulling the screws out. Jared cam over and we gave him general parameters for the deck we wanted built and stipulated that we wanted the composite material instead of wood. Jared came back with a design and computer image of the deck he proposed showing how it would look in our back yard. His quote was definitely much lower than we received from other contractors. Once the work started it took a day to tear down the old deck and haul away the pieces and dig the holes for the footings of the new deck. The inspector came the next day and they poured the concrete. They spent the next four days building the new deck and they worked until the daylight was gone before quitting. We asked for bench seats and flower boxes and Jared and his crew built those from scratch and they look fantastic. Jared also changed the plank/board layout that made the deck look symmetrical and very stylish. At the end, Jared also pulled out a board that he said had a scratch and replaced it. My wife and I could hardly see the scratch when we looked for it. After the build, Jared and his crew cleaned up all the scrap pieces, washed down the deck and they also re-seeded the areas around the deck that were trampled during the build. The new deck is beautiful and beyond our initial expectations. We also appreciate the effort in cleaning up and making the yard look as it did before the build.

Work crew did an excellent job. Price was reasonable. Owner was very likable. Will definitely use Building Character in the future.

Jared an his crew are nice to work with and care about doing a good job. It's important to them that they make their customer happy. He went out of his way to track down the lighting I wanted. He even waited for me to get home from work to make sure I was pleased with the deck.

We enjoyed working with Jared and have already received great compliments on our very soundly built new covered deck and other work that Jared provided. The service seemed fair as well as a good analysis on whether our front deck also needed to be replaced. I would highly recommend him for custom jobs involving carpentry projects.

Very responsive and fast service. Jared called me in less than 30 minutes after I purchased the Angies List deal. They did an excellent job and I'm very pleased with the results. Jared and his crew were always on time and kept me informed.I will definitely use them again.

Unfortunately, the total cost was going to be much higher than anticipated, and it was very difficult getting in touch with the company.

I have a very large deck (over 500 sq. ft) that has been neglected for many years. The boards appeared rotted, there were nails sticking up, and the original stain was barely noticeable (among many other issues). I was clueless on how to begin work on the deck, short of tearing it all out and starting over and I could not afford that at this time. I purchased the two hours of deck repair for $99, thinking that would at least get someone out here who knows about decks to tell me what the real damage is, and then maybe do some of the repairs. Jared was blunt when he said the deck was "a mess" and should be replaced, but he and his men could put a "band aid" on it to make it last 3-5 more years. I agreed to this and thought that the estimate of $2,800 was reasonable, considering all of the work that needed to be done (Jared also took into account the $99 I had already paid for the special). We scheduled the work to be done the following Saturday. That day was cold and rainy, but Jared, Jon, and a third gentleman (I apologize for forgetting his name) worked diligently all day out there cleaning and repairing the deck. The only thing they could not do in the rain was stain, and they would come back later to do that. I was working on a plumbing project inside that day and stupidly turned off the house water for a bit while I looked at a pipe under my sink and didn't realize I had turned the water off while they were outside power washing the deck! (Sorry!!) They were good sports about it and continued to do other things until I turned the water back on. They left after dark and left a clean work area. The next day was bright and sunny and my deck looked AMAZING. The newly cleaned boards looked much better than they had in years. They are still old, but my deck looked like it had a new life. The "band aid" was much better than I expected. Jon and the other gentleman came back the following week to stain and stuck around until I got home from work to inspect the deck. They were both polite and professional, and seemed to want me to be happy with the work. We have been enjoying the deck over the past few weekends and everyone who visits can't believe how good it looks. If I am still living here when it is time to replace the deck completely, I will give Building Character a call.

Excellent experience. Jared made appointments with us and was always punctual. He gave us an estimate and then was very prompt with additional estimates when we asked him to downsize the project. The day of installation, they were here right on time and were able to complete the project that day. The deck is solid and beautiful and we are enjoying it every day. They did a great job at a great price.

Workers respectful, hard workers. Due to rain not sure of exact days to return. Required 1/2 cost up front; men smoked but did not do close to windows upon request. Very much appreciated that.

The company missed their first appt. we made but he came back and did a beautiful job on the deck. Jared was very nice and the work was perfect!

Building Character did an excellent job. They were on time, courteous, and friendly. The owner actually answers his phone so you do not have to waste time playing phone tag. The company clearly takes pride in their work. There were a couple things I wanted done differently and each time I called, they came back out immediately. The result is a deck that makes me and my family very happy. I will definitely use their services again and recommend them to others.

It did take a long time from the time I ordered the work until it was done. I do understand, however, that this work is dependent on weather. Once job was scheduled, it was done in two days on time.
