the building character team provided the most timely, complete and thorough quotation package (of 6 solicited), the most competitive pricing, and FAR exceeded our expectations. we are very particular customers and were finding that the building character team was caring for details and nuances that even we were not thinking of!! the deck was built very very solidly, with top quality materials. it is simply beautiful, perfectly detailed, and really exceeded our expectations. we love it. as important as the quality of their work, the team was courteous, patient, timely and very polite. there was no stress working with them at all. they are true professionals as evidenced by not only their workmanship, but how they conduct business. it was a pleasure working with them and we would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone seeking a new deck!

My first concern is that they didn't contact me after I selected 3 dates that I wanted to have the work done. I had to call them, and the owner answered the phone. He told me that they would have called me when they were ready. I told him they should have contacted me to be up front about their time frame. The offer broke down to $1.13 per sq foot. They wanted to charge me $6 per sq. foot for the additional. This was discussed the day the work was supposed to start. James was due to arrive at 9AM, and didn't arrive until 9:40, due to traffic, he said when he arrived. They came down to $3, but that is quite a build up from the initial offer. They should be disclosing the extra cost in their deal offer. I would not use them, because I just don't trust the owner and how he handled the call. He was abrasive and unfriendly.

Went very well. Met with James at the scheduled time for initial inspection and estimate for full job. Agreed to price, taking into account coupon and James set about with the first step, cleaning. After cleaning we agreed on follow up time to do the sealing. End result was a very happy deck and a very happy customer. James was very pleasant to work with and all work was completed on schedule and very well done.

The project was done to my satisfaction. There was just one little glitch, James forgot to stain one of the railings. When I returned home and saw that he had missed a spot I called him and he immediately came back and fixed it. This was strictly a human error and understandable, and I'm very, very happy with the work that was done. I would recommend this company to anyone that wants a good job done on their deck and I would definitely use them again.

I met with the installer to draft a plan. I secured the permists. He installed the dck in 4 hours.

It went very well. Showed up on time and was very professional. Deck turned out great.

When the owner was not on site, the men behaved very unprofessionally. Overall, there was a great deal of in-fighting. The top rail of my deck has pulled loose and is falling off, but I don't want these people back on my property.

James did Everything he said he would do in a timely and professional manner.

Jared and Jennifer were a delight to work with. I purchased a deck "repair" coupon through Angie's List and they arrived ahead of our appointed time and began the work right away. I also asked for an estimate to clean and seal my old deck (built in 1989) and he did that for me. It was a bit more than I anticipated based on my previous experience with other deck cleaners. The money I paid them was WORTH EVERY PENNY! They took the deck furniture as well as my grill off and did a stellar job. It looks brand new! I will definitely hire them again.

They did an excellent job. I ended up paying to have the wood sanded first since it was in pretty bad shape. The cost for sanding was very reasonable. In a few hours they sanded and power washed the deck. They came out the next dry day and stained the deck. The deck looks brand new.

Wonderful I would have them again in a New York minute.

Awesome job!! Great attention was made to detail. I have senior dogs with mobility issues and vision issues and accommodation was made for adjusting step sized and design for their safety and comfort. The job was done in a very timely manner. The crew was very professional and friendly.

Response was quick, the appointment was made, and James came out to do an inspection. The following week he pressure washed the surface and on the next dry day, he spread the sealant that I purchased. We are happy with the results.

The deck project went well and was finished on time. It rained quite a bit so every hour they could be on site working, they were, including the entire final weekend. We ended up getting upgraded composite decking due to glitch at hardware store (at no cost to us). Also, due to brand of composite, they had a paint that matched to paint the supports. Left us almost a full gallon as well after they were done painting. Contractors were very considerate and worked to explain the project as it proceeded and answered any and all questions I had at any time.

I contacted Building Character to request a quote on rebuilding steps. I received a confirmation that same day from the owner (Jared) that he would be happy to do so and we agreed on meeting that at 9:00 a.m. Friday at my home to look at the steps. When no one had come or called by 9:45, I reached out to Building Character by email to ask if they were still coming. At 10:45, I reached out to Building Character by phone and left a voice mail asking if they were coming. I did not receive any reply to my email or voice mail. I was disappointed that Jared neither showed up nor took the time to call me to provide any explanation or an alternative time. Based on this experience, I would not use this company.

They did an absolutely fabulous job pressure washing and restaining my 20' x 12' deck, including all the slats in the rails and the stairs leading to the backyard. They were very thorough and professional. I would definitely use them again when I need my deck restained in years to come. Great job!

Very good. People were very nice, punctual and efficient.

The result was great, there were challenges to the process (ie rocks to dig through, monsoon etc) All were handled timely.

Jared and company did an excellent job. The new deck looks great. There were some unforeseen delays due to supplies and weather. Otherwise, all went well.

The old deck was removed and replace in one day with a team of three guys, including the owner.

My wife was very satisfied with that. The work was very good. The quality was very good. He showed up when he said he would. He was very professional, he did very good.
