Description of Work: Came out to look at porch work needing done. Would not give estimate on rebuild or repair; only wants to build new decks or porches.

Description of Work: I purchased this deal on March 12. I received an e-mail from Building Character on March 12 with a request for dates. I e-mailed the proposed dates to Building Character. I called Building Character on April 20. Phone answered with a "Hello". I had to ask if this was business. Person that answered phone (Jared) promised to let me know on Friday and put me at the top of the appointment list. On April 29, I received the following e-mail: Hi Mike, Hello and thank you for your patience. Now that the weather seems to be turning around we are working hard to move down the list of costumers. Will be in touch soon to schedule your service. Thank you, Jared Thanks, Building Character On May 11, I had not received any further communication from Building Character. At this time, I completed the Angie's List survey on Building Character. On May 13, I called Building Character and spoke with Jared. He set up an appointment to provide service on May 22 at 9:00 AM. On May 19, I received a call from Jared. After confirming my identity and the appointment day and time, he inquired if I had completed an Angie's List survey and had given Building Character a negative rating. I confirmed that I had given a negative rating due to the services not being provided and lack of communication about the services. At this time, Jared became irate. He berated me for giving the negative rating. He then continued to make excuses for the lack of service. I informed him that I did not wish to engage in this debate and that once service was provided, I would make changes to my review based on that service. This made him more irate and informed me that he did not wish to do business with "the likes of me". He then terminated the call. I immediately contacted Angie's List and here we are.

Description of Work: Came right away to do the power washing. Quite a delay until they came back to apply the new coating, however, when finished, was well done and deck looks very nice.

Description of Work: Tore down & build new deck. It is beautiful & well built. Fixed siding on house where old deck was. Jared & his workers are very professional & we are very happy with our new deck. We would hire them again. He is very talented.

Description of Work: Talked with provider and once realized my deck didn't really meet intent of deal, decided best to request refund.

Description of Work: I called Jared on Monday afternoon, April 16 and he came out that evening to give me an estimate on repairing a split rail fence in my back yard. We scheduled the work for Saturday, April 21. They came promptly in the morning and replaced four fences posts for $250. They also replaced a gate post and repaired a board for an additional $100. I was very pleased and would use them again.

Description of Work: I paid $49 for an estimate through an Angie's list "deal". As the representative from the deck company was leaving we noticed the side of his van said "free estimates". Also, when asked several times to see a sketch of the deck plan & still have not received it. The rep quoted $15,000 for a deck but cannot provide us with a visual as to what the finished product will look like?!?

Description of Work: The company was fine, I realized when I bought the coupon that I needed more work than what the coupon was for. I did not realize it would be 2,000 more, that is just not in my budget right now.

Description of Work: We purchased the deal to use on restoring our back deck. After receiving an estimate on everything we would really need to restore the deck, we decided that we would rather use the money on other outdoor projects for the house and pay attention to the deck next year. We spoke with Jared throughout the entire process and he was extremely helpful and upfront about all services needed and all costs. When we decide to fix the deck, we will definitely contact Jared and Building Character!

Description of Work: Jared and Josh cleaned my deck with a medium spray as I requested to get the accumulated dirt and mold off. On the first nice day, they returned with the clear, oil-based protectant I requested to seal the deck. They did a great job. Jared advised me on what to watch for to determine when the deck should be serviced next. I will use their deck service again.

Description of Work: My deck was bigger than the offer allowed. When he came to start the work, the estimate that he provided for the additional square footage was too high. So, I decided to pass on the deal.
