They were very responsive and came out the next day to provide an estimate. When we changed the order to have two windows with vents they changed the order over the phone. The delivery was on time and done professionally to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: We want to get glass block windows with vents for our three basement windows. At first we ordered only one window with a vent but then changed our mind about getting two windows with vents the next day.

It went well. I was disappointed that there was damage to my painted concrete floor aftewards, but the windows themselves are beautiful and I believe I definitely got my money's worth.
Description of Work: Block Tite installed three glass block windows in my basement with vents. They performed the consultation, provided the quote and showed up on time the day of installation. Installation went smoothly and quickly. I reviewed work before I paid and asked that the mortar around the window sill be finished up a bit on the inside. Later I saw that the job had caused damage to my painted concrete floors in the basement. The windows themselves, however, are beautiful and I've had no issues. They are beautiful.

They took off the glass from the three basement windows and installed glass blocks in each vents. They were great, they were easy to schedule. They came out I believe the next day or two after I called, they arrived on time they were professional and did a good job. They cleaned up and everything was good. I will use this company in the future.

I had sales reps come from the top three glass block companies in the area. Block Tite was the only one of the three that offered mortar versus silicone and their price just happened to be the lowest by a few dollars. We had to schedule the installation of the windows on a dry day, which was tough during the month of May. The installers arrived promptly and worked non-stop to get the job done. I was very impressed until I started looking around and noticed shards of glass in areas where we walk, mostly in sock or bare feet and also noticed mortar splashed on electronic equipment close to one window. I called to complain about the clean-up and the mess left behind and the gentleman (I believe 'Mike') expressed very little concern and expressed no apology. I asked for his email address to send him pictures of what I was complaining about. I sent the pictures and have not received a response. We are renovating two bathrooms and will be installing glass block showers and wall from another source.

Response from Block Tite of Cincinnati
Glass block installation is hampered and complicated when electronic equpment that is operational is not moved from the immediate work area. Blocktites installers are not permitted to disconnect and move electronics and is the homeowners responsibility. That being said, the installers should have used a drop cloth or wiped down the items with the sponge water residue. They should have also made sure all glass was swept up and removed. We apologize for having failed to do so. As far as the sponge brush water residue on the glass block in the pic, the new windows must dry for 24 hours before using a dry rag or green pad to wipe them down for to do so while wet may smudge or smear the install joints and this info should always be shared with our customer. We apologized that the customer felt we did't care about her issues and we promise to work harder to ensure customer satisfaction. Thank you for your honest feedback.

Windows are beautiful. They had to come back twice to clean up the broken glass and mess created when completing the job. Not sure if it was newer installers or lack of attention to detail. The sales rep did call to check up and ensure satisfaction.

Someone from Block Tite came out to do an estimate within several days of my phone call. The sales person was very thorough in his quote; he took the time to measure each window and explain to me all of the different options I had. He spent about 30 minutes at the house and made me feel very comfortable with his company. I scheduled the work for several weeks later. The person who came to do the install was right on time. He was very quick but did high quality work. He did not bother any of our flowers or grass while working and did a great job cleaning up when he was finished. The windows look excellent and were well worth the investment.

Mike was very easy to work with. Since it was such a simple job, I was able to send pictures of the existing windows and describe exactly what I wanted by email. He responded with a quote and, within a week, my vents were installed. The installers were very quick, did a great job, and cleaned up after themselves.

I compared prices from Block Tite windows and American Glass Block. Block Tite prices were about $130 cheaper than it's competition so I chose them to go with. The installer arrived on time and was very friendly, organized and ready to do his job. It took about 2 1/2 hours for the job to finish. Once he was done he cleaned up all the debris from the installation. I really enjoyed the guys company. I would recommend this company to everyone for the prices, the friendliness and also the whole job in general was great.
Description of Work: I had three glass block windows installed in my basement. One has a dryer vent and the other two have window vents in them. I have an additional window that I did not have replace because I have a addition that was built onto the house so this window is blocked, but when I do have it replaced I will definitely call Block Tite.

The representative who provided the estimate was on-time and professional as were the installers. The installed windows fit the openings well, without an excess border of mortar and have a clean look. The installation process took about half of the estimated time because an additional installer was sent to assist with the large job. Both installers were careful not to track in dirt to the house as they were working.

I brought in 4 companies that I found on AL to bid the job. I told them they were all bidding against each other since glass block window replacement is such a commodity service here. They were the most reasonably priced wiling to do the job with an all mortar installation between the blocks and in the window. Block-tite was the last estimate I got and the best one (probably because he knew I was playing them against each other.) He pulled up when the previous estimator was still leaving! BEWARE of silicone-only installers. In my last house, I had silicone between the blocks and water eventually penetrated somewhere and caused a little mold between the blocks. Mortar is the way to go. Very few Tri-state companies will do ALL-MORTAR because it is more expensive and a little more difficult for them but it is very worthwhile.. The two contractors came on a Saturday afternoon, efficiently did the job and left. They were nice, quiet and quick. They left a little mess on the windows and walls inside, and probably should have wiped up better after themselves, but all in all, it was a very pleasant experience. Once I vacuumed the sills and carpet in the basement, it was back to clean. The basement looks so much better now that I have glass block instead of dirty, drafty old plain glass windows.

Everything was excellent from start to finish. We were on a tight time-line and got a quick estimate with service scheduled for the next day. Workmen arrived on time and did a great job. The price was extremely fair for the value added in terms of appearance, security, and energy savings. This is a home improvement everyone should make, and Block Tite did a great job for us.

Scott answered the phone, and I had an appointment with Rob within two days. Rob called to let me know he was on his way, did a thorough job explaining the choices I had with glass block, provided literature, measured all twelve windows carefully and wrote up the estimate while he was here. Rob's phone rang in the middle of his explanation, but he told the person he'd have to call them back, instead of carrying on a conversation in front of me. I appreciated his courtesy and his professionalism.
Description of Work: Originally I wanted to replace the twelve windows in my basement with glass block. After getting three estimates, and deciding to only put in two windows, I signed with another company. But I would still recommend that people call Block Tite for an estimate based on my experience with their representative, Rob.

The person I spoke to on the phone initially was nice and scheduled an estimate promptly. The day the workers came, they told me the windows they ordered would be the wrong size, which turned out to be incorrect after they talked to their boss. They did the work and left without checking it properly because a shim was left in the concrete. The first time I scheduled a repair they no-showed. The second time was scheduled at 8 AM. I called at 8:15 to find out what was going on and found out that even though I was on the schedule, the workers somehow didn't know about my appointment. The person on the phone was very kind and came over right away with some concrete to make the repair.

The installers forgot to remove a shim. They overlooked it. We apologize. Our first available appointment is 10:00 am. We do not schedule at 8:00 am. We have never scheduled at 8:00 am as the doors at the shop open at that time and my guys must load materials and such. Though these comments and the grades received seem a little harsh we do thank you for your input.

They were great. They came out and gave us a free estimate and let us know about a special they were having. The price was right where we thought and we set a date for them to come and install. The installer was running a bit late, but the company called to let us know a new time frame, they had told us it would take about 2 hours, but when they were all done it was less than 1 hour. They were in and out very quickly and cleaned everything up very nicely. They did a great job on the installation and we are very happy with the new look and quality.

Block Tite came out quickly to give an estimate on three 32"x22" windows in the basement. They explained the importance of using mortar (versus silicone) around the glass blocks and that mortar will last longer. The job only took about 1.5 hours and the area was clean at completion. I am very pleased with the job.

We found Block Tite on Angie's List and picked them because they use mortar in between their blocks as opposed to caulk. They were prompt both during the initial bid and when they came to do the actual work. The technician did a very neat job and cleaned up well after himself. We were very happy with the results.

The cleanup was poor. There is cement and clumps of dried cement inside and out. My plants on the side of the house were there was plenty of access were crushed to the ground. They did return for some additional patchwork and clean up but disappointed in the quality of the cleanup. The glass block itself is beautiful, I really like the artistic arrangement of the different sizes of block. That was very well done.
