Very easy to work with and resolved the issue in one trip. While I do think their prices are a little higher than average, they do not bill at an hourly rate but rather by the job. This meant that I didn't feel pressured to hurry the contractor along. He was thorough and courteous and did the job right. Overall, it was a great experience. They waived the trip charge for me since I was an Angie's List member-which was helpful.

Chris Weiss did a detailed survey of the 1914 house, then worked out a plan to rewire the house up to current codes. Chris and Reggie did much of the work, assisted on some days by other Bertke electricians. The work was all done professionally. The guys showed up exactly when they said they would and did everything promised. They were all extremely pleasant to have around. Chris explained everything as necessary, and was great at working with us to provide the most functional electrical system our house could have, within the constraints of system capacity, and loads on individual circuits, etc. Bertke uses flat-rate pricing for tasks, not hourly...new circuit... fixed price, etc. So when a task becomes much more difficult due to construction of an old house, the price remains what was planned. If you stick to what they agree to fix, there will be no surprise on the price end. I added a number of tasks during the work, so our cost went up accordingly. I was very satisfied with the personnel and quality of work. They were pleasant to have around, did the work in the timely, professional manner. I would not hesitate to call them again.

The representative was very polite and explained the diffculties that were involved in repairing the problem. Two options for correction of the problem were discussed. In the end, I was pleased with the repair.

Chris came over to our home and listened to what we wanted done in our new kitchen: new appliances, under counter strip outlets, new satellite jack for phone and television, in-cabinet lighting, under cabinet lighting, recessed and pendant ceiling lights, demolition of certain wall outlets, etc. While we felt the original quote was high, Bertke informed us that by charging a flat rate for various services keeps them from having to raise rates when they run into the inevitable problems. That's a good thing, because we live in an old house with crazy wiring, and random joists hidden behind the plaster that limit outlet placements. The extra time and aggravation it took to do even the most basic relatively simple work was considerable and could have ended up costing us a fortune. Eric Wickemeyer worked patiently, expertly, and efficiently. He is a consummate professional who did absolutely beautiful work and was a joy to have in our home.
