Wonderful: the men that came out to do the work and the gentleman that came out to do the estimate were top notch professional. Back Tree did work for me several years ago and its refreshing to see that this is one business whose professionalism and quality work has not changed a bit. Thanks Back Tree.

I have known the people at Back Tree Service for over 25 years and they are by far the most qualified Arborists in the area. Make no mistake, this is very hard and dangerous work, it requires knowledge, skill and the right equipment. You don't just want a guy with a chainsaw and pickup truck. Tim Back's experience in this field is unmatched. He will give you the honest answer to your tree problems, which may not always be cheap or easy. Recently they planted three large trees in our front yard and took extra care to protect the driveway with plywood so that the bobcat would not leave marks. They worked until it was dark in below freezing temps and then returned first thing the next day to mulch and clean up. We trust Back Tree Service to continue to take care of our many young and old trees.

Hasn't gone anywhere since no one will call.
Description of Work: I have been trying to get a call back to get an estimate. It's been 5 business days and I still haven't gotten a call. I've called them 3 times, but it seems they don't feel like working. A simple courtesy call should be able to be completed while driving from job to job. Not impressed.

Tim is a nice guy and they usually do great work. I wanted to find out if a couple of my problem trees could be saved or needed to be removed. On 8/5 we scheduled a window of 10AM to 11AM on 8/9. On 8/9 the window was moved to between 6PM and 7PM, and I had to reschedule another meeting in order to accommodate the new time. I didn't hear anything until 7:25. I couldn't wait much past 7, though, and had already left for my other meeting. I talked to Tim briefly the following day and he was going to try to come out again either that evening or the next (8/10 or 8/11) but haven't heard anything since.

We've used them for years. It was rechecking some cabling that they've done so there was no charge. The owner is a certified arborist so he's very knowledge about trees. He tries to do whatever he can to keep them healthy. Employees when they come to do tree work are courteous. They really clean up the area and we hardly tell they came. They are a little high in pricing but the quality of work is good.

Called several times and shared pricing concerns historically; they finally emailed me a 1 page standard co. disclaimer / boilerplate. ..............................NO PRICE QUOTE IN writing LIKE what I really needed. I asked if there was any cash discount (versus 3% credit card). .............NO. No real consideration for multiple sales leads I'd given them also. (me firmly believe in protecting the environment) ........................Had to contact them again to get the info. .DELAYED MY PROJECT!..... Price was Over $200 with tax and Highest of all my bids. Never once did they say all the branches needed to be bloomed out ..(other pro's did mention that issue soon thereafter) or ...................when they would actually get to it. Like others I had previously used their services, but Back Tree Service seems to think they have a life time gig w/ existing customers. Not true in my book and I've heard others (including Angies List) and professionals share some horror stories in recent yrs. Look it up yourself to see. ...........................................I WOULD NOT USE THEM AGAIN. It takes 95% more effort to develop a new client versus "keep existing ones happy" MBA studies show. I requested on 3-16-14. I was contacted on 3-18-14 by Back's Tree Service and an appointment was set for 3-25-14, I was given a two hour window, 2:30-4:30 for the visit. On 3-25-14 Tim Back arrived at 2:35 and inspected the trees. He recommended Vertical Mulching and a Tee-age injection for the trees. I accepted Tim's proposal. He informed me that the vertical mulching would be completed in 3-5 business days but that the Tree-age injection could not be completed until the trees began to leaf out in late April or Early May. On 3-26-14 Tim's office contacted me to schedule the vertical Mulching which was completed on 3-27-14. I was contacted by another Tree service who recommended a similiar treatment plan and their estimates were comparable to the those that Tim provided for my trees after his inspection. I chose Back's Tree service because they were prompt, Professional and have great reputation for success in Emerald Ash Borer treatment.

You could probably find a less expensive tree outfit, but I can't imagine a more highly qualified one. They brought the tree down with amazing speed without disturbing a leaf of the surrounding landscaping. The final cleanup was perfection. As the crane was leaving it bumped a corner of our fieldstone wall bordering the drive, dislodging a couple of the stones. Before we were even aware of it, Mr. Back called to say a mason would be at our house the next day. Additionally, he noticed that the crane's outriggers had not been properly supported, resulting in a barely noticeable depression in two small patches of the lawn. He immediately sent a couple of guys out to gently raise and smooth the two areas. Everyone with whom I came in contact from Back Tree was not just completely professional, but extremely pleasant to be around to boot. I could not have hoped for a better outcome and recommend Back Tree without reservation.

He came up and provided a free estimate. I liked the guy and he seemed very knowledgeable. His price was a bit higher than another quote so I did not accept his quote. We have used Back Tree Service for a number of years to have various trees removed from our yard. Unfortunately most our recent experience with Back regarding the treatment of two Ash trees and fertilization of a Burch tree has not been good. The Ash trees were fertilized by mistake. After this was pointed out the correct services was done. However, we were then billed for the fertilization of the Ash trees which was not part of the service agreement. After some testy discussions the charge was finally removed. There was additional confusion over information given by Tim Back about tax credit from the city of Cincinnati for treatment of one of the Ash trees that was on city right-of-way. Information shared by Back proved to be incorrect. In my opinion, interactions with Tim Back regarding this “tax credit” was involved (details of which I shall not elaborate upon) and disappointing.

I had contacted about 13 tree service companies to query about receiving a free estimate for work I wanted done here at the house. From those 13 companies I selected 5 companies for serious estimates based on their interaction with me on the phone. Each company that came out I asked for individual estimates for various jobs I wanted done with the idea of choosing a particular company for a particular job, and in essence utilizing two or three companies for the individual projects based on cost and my comfort level in company performing the job(s). In this write up I'm dealing with my ash trees being treated for emerald ash borer (EAB). All five companies came out and examined my trees, but only two identified my tree as being infected with EAB. These two companies I seriously considered for treating my trees. Back Tree Service was $50 more expensive than the other company on the EAB treatment but the owner, Tim Back, also sold me on the vertical mulching job which the other company did not mention. I felt because Tim was going to treat my trees for EAB and vertical mulch, I would spend the extra $50 for the EAB and have him do both jobs. I also felt comfortable with the other company performing the EAB treatment, but he had not mentioned vertical mulching which was the cinch for me going with Back Tree Service. I felt Tim was up front and honest. I asked him if he would consider giving me a 10% discount as an Angie's list member but he said he did not give Angie's list members discounts. He did give me a 3% discount for prepaying on the EAB treatment and 5% senior discount on the EAB treatment and vertical mulching for a total discount of $75.01.

I have used them for many years and they are excellent. Their quality of service is excellent and they have very professional people working for them. They were on top of the problem and doing preventitive work on my ash trees. They can trim trees so they are not hanging over your roof or looking crazy. They can give them nurtition or fertilizer to keep the trees healthy. I have used them to trim trees and they have always been professional. The head guy, Tim, has been on site for all of my jobs and they have been great to work with.

Tim's crew worked very hard since there was much manual labor involved. They were courteous, professional and very neat. They arrived promptly and worked every day until everything was finished. I would highly recommend Back Tree Service to anyone! I wish all businesses were run the way Tim runs his business; with integrity and honesty!
Description of Work: We have over 100 trees on our property and many died due to the drought. There were also some landscaping issues that needed to be taken care of as well as putting down pine straw in all the bedding. There was a lot of work to do. I went with Tim to the nursery to select hearty replacement trees. He and his crew did a fantastic job! Tim (the owner) is very honest, professional, knowledgeable and talented. There were a few items that he estimated we needed done, but in the end there was a change in plans. He adjusted the bill to reflect a lower price for things that were altered. He also did vertical mulching to help the health of all our trees.

Excellent. First they came out and explained in detail the optimal treatment to preserve four beautiful old beech trees and one large American buckeye. After discussing various options we agreed upon a plan and a price. Within a few days they came and did the mulching. I watched the whole process. The team was very conscientious and worked quickly. They were polite and friendly. Today, the crew of three came to prune the biggest beech to remove dead wood and thin for better wind tolerance. Since we've already lost 2 big beech trees to wind that part of the plan was very important to us. They climbed into the tree and an assistant sent tools/saws/chain saws up and down as needed. The work took about 7 hours. The tree looks even more beautiful with all the dead wood gone and some of the smaller brances thinned out. We used to live in FL and when they "thinned" trees there it always seemed to be a real butcher job. On the contrary with this team - they considered the aesthetics of the tree. I was happy with their safety methods, with their clean-up of all the debris they created when trimming and their professional friendly manner. We are so pleased.
Description of Work: They did vertical mulching/fetilizing of nearly all of our front yard to feed the trees and at the same time provide aeration to the soil. Following that they pruned and thinned a giant beech tree which overhangs the entire yard and part of the house.

I was previously using over the once a yr. over the counter root treatments (brand B; German firm). I hear from Indy tree firm that one needs to use 200% dose for that. Kept it alive but was struggling at regular dose.. Good website for basic info. Did not show up first day due to equipment problem. I had to water all over again for several hrs. since that happened. Could have communicated that better and have contingency plan. Two separate crews. One to do vertical mulching and other to treat the tree for ash borer. Friendly and willing to answer questions thru the proceedings. Placed metal tree tag on it and explained the growth pattern to me. Need to treat every 2-3 yrs. so not cheap to do. Did good work and congenial.
