Gil was very professional and prompt in visiting for our free estimate; we had 2 good estimates that were using different procedures, and we chose AquaProof because they could be finished quickly, and they worked with us on the cost. They brought a large work crew and amazed us by keeping their promise to do all of the above work in one full day! All were very professional and polite, and we were very happy with the result-- especially each time there's a big rain with no leaks in basement!
Description of Work: Dug out ground for entire front of house and one side; repaired cracks and sealed with tar; laid tile drain and routed water flow to back yard. Also refilled all dirt and seeded lawn.

Our basement had flooded, which appeared to be caused by our undersized and overworked gutters that likely had broken a pipe below ground. In the meantime, we had temporarily cut off that downspout and rerouted the water away. We needed to replace our gutters to increase their size and have more downspouts, but needed to address our drainage problem first. We went straight to Angie?s List to find companies that would solve the problem and found AquaProof with stellar reviews. We called for a free estimate and Gil came out the same day. He was straightforward with us and created a solution for us, keeping in mind future needs that we may have so any future drainage needs could be tied in. We thought about it over the weekend and called Monday to go ahead. Gil came over that same night to complete a full plan and written contract. He answered all of our questions, requested only 10% down to start and mentioned that they could be out as soon as the next day. True to their word, there they were the next day working hard! As issues came up that they wouldn?t be able to route based on his plans, Gil took care of it making sure to find the next best solution. Gil took full responsibility, even though additional work was needed ? 2 window wells and working around gas lines and an A/C unit. Even when one of our neighbors raised concerns with him, he took care to resolve the situation. Gil took ownership and went above and beyond to work with them in the future, no expense to us. All the workers were on task and you could tell they took pride in their work and getting it done right the first time. As with any drainage repairs, the yard was torn up with lots of pipes, remnants of our hedges that needed to come out as part of the job and equipment everywhere. But once they finished with the main work, they worked just as hard, taking as much time and care on cleanup as they had to actually do the job (even going as far as removing an old flagpole for us in the process!). They cleaned up the area, insuring any mud was sprayed off the driveway, and any lawn that had been disturbed was now replaced (minus any rocks, etc. that were dug up in the process) with fill, seed and straw on top. The whole experience was extremely fast and satisfying to complete. Gil was straightforward, honest and a great resource for the job. We?re so glad that we came to Angie?s List and agree completely with the stellar rating. We feel confident that our problems are resolved, and if anything does come up, AquaProof will take care of it. That sort of resulting trust is rare in contract work.
Description of Work: Creating a new underground drainage system to route downspouts to backyard rather than sewer system.

Danny was very responsive and knowledgeable about my needs. He was very proffesional and obviously has a lot of experience and takes the quality of his work seriously. I gave me a quote on the spot and even agreed to work around another contractor. This proved to be very challenging, and even required Danny and his team to come out at 9 pm on night to close up the site that the other contractor had left open to the rain. We wouldn't have noticed it, but Danny came by to check - that is the level of dedication that he has to his work. I have recommended him several times to coworkers and friends. One thing I really liked, his teams worked hard. I have had other contractors whose workers sat around - not Aquaproof!
Description of Work: Aquaproof came out and installed footer drains around my house and a drainage system to move the water away from the yard. They also tied my gutters into this system.

They came with a crew and hand dug a trench inside the perimeter of the crawl space, installed the drain and well, and backfilled with pea gravel. They installed a sump pump and tied it into the existing downspout drain. All the work was accomplished in less than a day. It is very satisfying to see a dry crawl space for a change.
Description of Work: The crawl space leaked and had developed mold. Aquaproof dug a drain inside the crawl space, provided a well and sump pump, and drained it to the existing downspout drain.

They dug out the exterior of the basement wall to a width of three feet, cleaned the wall and fixed any cracks and sealed the wall. They installed drainage material to the wall, installed a well and sump pump. They installed a French drain and a new drain line to the sewer and hooked up the downspouts and sump pump to the new drain.
Description of Work: One side of the basement wall leaked and was being forced into the basement by the water pressure from the outside. AquaProof dug out one side of the basement and repaired cracks, sealed the walls, provided for drainage, installed a sump pump and a new drain line to the sewer, and back-filled with gravel and soil.

I asked representatives from three different companies for estimates. Each had a little different perspective on how best to handle the waterproofing. All seemed to make good points, but ultimately I thought Aqua Proof's proposal made the most sense for my project. The house has a 90+-year-old limestone basement. The company's representative was open to my observations based on my research and personal experience with my basement problem. I decided to have the drainage controlled on the outside first, without doing an installation inside the basement, to see whether that would fix the leakage. The company was agreeable to try it this way. They finished the entire project in one day. With the exception of a couple periods of extremely heavy rain, I've seen no water coming into the basement. On those few exceptions, only a small amount of water came in, and it only trickled down a few inches. There has been no evidence of water at all in the front area, which had become a major problem. Possibly I would have them come back to do the inside of the basement, but I have no plans to refinish the basement, so a tiny bit of water is not a huge issue for me at this time. The final cost was slightly higher than the estimate, but this was not so much the company's doing; I had installed a parking area in the back of the property after the original estimate, and the company recommended that I put the extra drainage area in because of the steep slope of it. It was my choice, and I decided the extra drainage area was a good idea. They covered up all the places that were dug up and re-seeded the grass. Two or three places where they had to cut the sidewalk to dig were cemented back neatly. Several shrubs were moved and replaced.
Description of Work: The company extended 5 downspouts and ran them into a step drain that ran down to the street, about 160 feet total. Installed exterior subsurface drainage across the front of the house and also a drainage area in the back yard to catch water coming down a slope.

We discovered water in our finished basement on Christmas eve day!! Called AquaProof, Inc. immediately and on the same day, Gil came out and assessed the problem. Gil discovered that the water seeped through the basement window because the window well was full of water and leaking into the interior basement. This was because the water drained towards our house right into the window. Thankfully, upon closer inspection, there were no cracks on the foundation so no major foundation repairs were required. The solution was to create a new window well, put down drainage tiles along the entire south side exterior wall of the house to prevent future leaks, connect all rain gutter drains into the drainage system. The job was done in one day. Gil called a few weeks later to follow-up and made sure that the new drainage system was performing well-and it did especially during the great winter thaw. The only minor issue is that there is a low spot close to the house that may pose a problem in the future. However, Gil assured me that they will come back to fix it. Since we're planning to redo the landscaping in the backyard, which may need additional exterior drainage system installed, we decided to wait. GREAT JOB GUYS!!! Special recognition to Gil and Matt (the site crew lead).
Description of Work: Installed exterior drainage tile on the south side of the house. Connected rain gutter drains to the drainage pipe. Window wells were made for the basement window (source of the leak). Foundation walls were examined for cracks (none found), and the walls were sealed with tar and plastic protective later. Re-graded the ground so that water would run away from the house. Upon completion, grass seed and straw were placed over the affected area.

He had dug out around the outside windows wells and sealed the cracks from the outside. He laid out all the options and he didn't really push or suggest much. He's very factual and I didn't feel any pressure at all. He was trust worthy, right on time and told you like it was. He did every thing he said he wad going to do. I thought I had an issue and he came back and checked it all out. So far it has worked.

I was amazed that they were able to do the job in one and a half days. They had to move part of my backyard fence in order to get their equipment in. They later replaced the fence and the landscaping around my house that had to be moved. They had to dig a trench from my house to the street to connect my gutters to a drain. The excavation down to the foundation of my house was done efficiently and in less time than I expected. The crew worked with no break for over eight hours the first day and another four or five the next day. When they were done, they did a good job of trying to get my yard back in order (not easy to do in the middle of winter). Throughout the process, the crew were friendly and cooperative and answered all of my questions. They did a great job.
Description of Work: AquaProof dug down to my home's foundation on two and a half sides of my house. They installed footers and drainage mats and connected my gutters to a drain that ran all the way out to the sewers in my street. Window wells and drains also were installed. Foundation wall cracks were repaired and then the walls were sealed with tar and a layer of plastic. Excavations were then filled and dirt was sloped away from my house. Once everything was done, grass seed and straw was placed over the torn up part of my yard.

The patio had to be pulled up and they did not properly replace the brick. They cut into my cable wire in four or six places. It took six months to get that fixed. They did not do a thorough clean up of the grounds. They promised a special clean out system in the downspouts and they did not put them in. They did a really sloppy job on the cementing of the side walk tray. They put that section of the sidewalk in upside down. We called the salesman back and he got the owner invovled. They took care of all of these problems to the best of their ability. They did not charge us. They paid for the people that we hired for the things they couldn't fix. The crew chief had a really bad attitude. When we would say things to him, he would have a bad attitude. He was very defensive and rude to us. The company said they disciplined him until he got his attitude fixed. They did not do a great job aesthetically.
Description of Work: We had them come out because we had a water seepage problem in our basement. They came out and evaluated the interior and exterior of our home. They couldn't do anything outside to the foundation because it was stone. They said they would have to come inside and trench the cement floor of the basement. Our basement is finished and carpeted. We didn't want to do that. They very creatively told us another thing that they could do which would be less money. They said they would take the downspouts and run new PVC line. They said they would make sure all of the downspouts were emptying away from the house. The water near the foundation would be taken away. They put in 380 feet of PVC drain pipe. They also put in a couple of grates for water drainage. They waterproofing has worked.

Response from AquaProof Inc
APPROXIMATELY JUNE 25, 2008, THE MEMBER CONTACTED OUR COMPANY, AQUA PROOF INC., FOR AN ESTIMATE. DURING THE CONSULTATION HE POINTED OUT SOME DRAINAGE ISSUES THAT HE WANTED ADDRESSED AROUND THE PROPERTY, WHICH CONSISTED OF DOWNSPOUT LINES AND STANDING WATER AROUND THE HOUSE. MY COMPANIES’ REPRESENTATIVE, GIL BRUMMETT, SUGGESTED RUNNING THE DOWN SPOUT LINES IN 4 INCH PVC, PLUS, BOX GRATES IN KEY AREAS OF THE STANDING WATER IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. TOWARDS THE END OF THE CONVERSATION THE MEMBER POINTED OUT ANOTHER AREA THAT WAS APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET FROM THE HOUSE ON A BRICK SIDEWALK WHERE WATER WAS RUNNING TOWARD THE HOUSE. HE INQUIRED AS TO HOW HE SHOULD ADDRESS THIS WATER ISSUE. BRUMMETT INFORMED HIMS THAT A 4 INCH GRATE COULD BE INSTALLED IN ORDER TO CAPTURE THE WATER BEFORE IT BEGAN TO RUN TOWARD THE HOUSE. THE MEMBER ASKED ABOUT PUTTING THE BRICK BACK AND ALTHOUGH AQUA PROOF DOES NOT TYPICALLY DO ANY TYPE OF MASON WORK BRUMMETT AGREED TO REINSTALL THE BRICK. ON JULY 10, 2008, REPRESENTATIVE, GIL BRUMMETT, WROTE A CONTRACT FOR THE MEMBER FOR DRAINAGE WORK. ON AUGUST 22, 2008, AQUA PROOF INC. INSTALLED THE DRAINAGE WORK. ON JULY 11, 2008, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM HIM SAYING THAT HE WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE BRICK WORK; I IMMEDIATELY MET WITH HIM, TO DISCUSS HIS CONCERNS WITH THE BRICK WORK. UPON INSPECTION I AGREED THAT THE BRICK WORK WAS NOT SATISFACTORY. DURING THIS DISCUSSION HE INFORMED ME THAT HE WOULD BE HAVING MASONRY COME TO DO WORK ON OTHER PARTS OF THE HOUSE. THE MEMBER AND I AGREED THAT MY COMPANY WOULD REMOVE THE GRATE AND THE BRICK INSTALLED BY AQUA PROOF; REINSTALL THE GRATE AND HAVE THE MASON, HIRED BY HIM, REINSTALL THE BRICK AROUND THE GRATE, AT THE EXPENSE OF AQUA PROOF INC. APPROXIMATELY JANUARY 10, 2009, BRUMMETT SPOKE WITH THE MEMBER'S WIFE AND ASKED HER TO FILE A REPORT ON ANGIE'S LIST REGARDING HER EXPERIENCE WITH AQUA PROOF INC. SHE QUESTIONED WHETHER OR NOT SHE SHOULD FILE A REPORT DUE TO THE FACT THEY WERE NOT COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THE INITIAL MASON WORK. BRUMMETT WENT ON THE INFORM HER THAT WE NEED ALL CUSTOMERS TO FILE A REPORT, GOOD OR BAD. THIS IS HOW CONSUMERS LEARN ABOUT AQUA PROOF INC., AND IF THERE HAS EVER BEEN A PROBLEM DO WE TAKE CARE OF IT. SHE DID INFORM BRUMMETT THAT THE DRAINAGE WORK DONE BY AQUA PROOF INC. WORKED GREAT AND SHE AND HER HUSBAND WOULD FILE A REPORT. IN THE REPORT, THEY DISCUSS A PROBLEM WITH A CABLE LINE. AQUA PROOF INC. CALLS UNDERGROUND PROTECTION SERVICES TO MARK ALL LINES, BEFORE COMMENCING WORK ON ANY PROPERTY, IN ORDER TO PREVENT LINES FROM BEING CUT. THIS PARTICULAR CABLE LINE WAS NOT MARKED AND THE HOME OWNER NEVER INFORMED US THAT THERE WAS CABLE RUNNING TO ANOTHER BUILDING ON THE PROPERTY. AQUA PROOF INC. CAN NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR CUTTING LINES THAT WE DO NOT KNOW EXIST. IF AQUA PROOF DAMAGED OR CUT ANY LINE, THAT HAD BEEN PROPERLY MARKED, MY COMPANY WOULD ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND RECTIFY THE SITUATION IMMEDIATELY. THEREFORE, THE COMPLAINT MIGHT BE BETTER SERVED APPLIED TO THE CABLE COMPANY WHO HAD TO COME TO THE PROPERTY SIX OR SEVEN TIMES TO FIX THE CABLE LINE. IN CLOSING, BASED ON THE CONVERSATION WITH THE MEMBER'S WIFE SHE WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE WORK THAT AQUA PROOF INC IS SPECIALIZED IN, WHICH IS DRAINAGE AND WATER PROOFING. THE PROBLEM LIED WITH THE BRICK WORK, WHICH IS SOMETHING THAT MY COMPANY TOOK FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT AQUA PROOF INC. WILL ALWAYS ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND LEARN FROM ANY ISSUES, CORRECT THEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE HOMEOWNERS, AND REFRAIN FROM AGREEING TO DO WORK THAT WE ARE NOT SPECIALIZED IN.

At 11:30 P.M. February 8, 2009, we noticed the carpet in the basement family room was getting wet. We have lived in our house for 11 years and never had prior problems with water coming in. Due to the rapid ice melt on Saturday, 2/7/09, our entire foundation failed due to hydrostatic pressure and water was coming in at the joint between the walls and floor of the basement. After contacting 7 other companies, I had just about given up on having our problem taken care of in a timely fashion. I am so happy that I took the time to place one more call. I reached Gil at AquaProof, Inc. He listened to my problem and said he would be over in 30 minutes to look at our house. He was professional, courteous, personable and knowledgeable. He gave us an estimate before leaving our home. He described the process to us completely and told us the project would be complete in 2 days. Just as Gil had promised, a crew arrived at our house at about 8 AM on Thursday, 2/12/09, and got to work immediately with the jackhammers. It was like music to my ears! By the end of the day, there was a knee-high pile of rubble in the basement and I could not fathom how the job would ever be completed in the time frame that was promised. However, by 6 P.M. on 2/13/09, the crew was gone and the whole job was completed. They removed all the concrete rubble and even took the sections of drywall that had to be removed. The crew responded to the problem like a disaster team. They were courteous and professional and took the greatest care of floor coverings and carpets not in the work area by placing covers over everything on which they walked. They were also kind enough to tell us when one of our dogs ran outside. I highly recommend this company. My hat is off to them and would give them a 5-star + rating. If only all companies involved in home repair were half as good as AquaProof! We can't thank them enough for a job well done.
Description of Work: Create trench, approx. 14" wide, around entire perimeter of basement level (2300 s.f.) with jack hammers. Install moisture barrier fabric, crushed stone, and black drainage tile in trench (see above). Concrete work and material for above. Install new sump pump with larger crock and emergency battery pack. Seal any cracks in walls. Cut drywall at about 2 ft. high to inspect for cracks. Dig outside drainage line that connects to sump pump; install drainage tile. Remove all old concrete.

I was extremely impressed with the teamlike approach to the job. There was approximately 12 workers at my house and everybody was doing their part of the job and nobody was "tripping" over anybody else. It took 2 days for them to finish the job. The temperature didn't exceed 15 degrees either day. About 2 weeks after the job was completed I noticed some moisture on one point on the inside of the crawlspace wall. I called and they were out the same day. The wallboard/tile had been pulled away from the wall at one point from the backfilled dirt being tamped down. They dug down and repaired it and also installed a moisture barrier on the crawlspace floor. That was 2 weeks ago and there has been no problems since then. I am extremely pleased with the job that was done and the professionalism that everyone showed. I would highly recommend (and have) Aqua Proof Inc. to anyone needing a water problem taken care of.
Description of Work: They trenched outside the house down to the foundation and cleaned the footer. Any cracks that were found were sealed. A wallboard/tile was glued to the footer and sealed with a tarlike adhesive. Tile was laid around the outside of the foundation covered with gravel and backfilled with dirt. 2 downspouts on the west side of the house were run into the tile and this was all emptied into the ditch in front of the property. The part of the crawlspace that was unreachable from the outside had tile laid on the inside and emptied into the new sump and was pumped to the ditch out of the new sump pump that was installed. The 2 downspouts on the east side of the house were run into tile that was directed to the backyard away from the house. A grating was installed in front of the garage and run into the tile with the downspouts running to the back yard. An air exchanger (Humidex) was installed in the crawlspace to keep it dry. The yard was graded so all water was directed away from the house. The backfilled dirt was tamped down. All debris was removed.

Gill the sales rep was knowledgeable and gave a no pressure estimate which was appreciated. Danny Manley, Gill and crew showed up as scheduled and asked if we had any questions prior to starting work. Job took a day as planned. Danny followed up during the day to keep us posted on the status of the project. Crew made every effort to minimize dust and dirt during the day and cleaned up well after themselves. Overall we were very pleased. We have had rain and a big snow melt since the project was complete and the basement has been dry.

These guys were awesome from start to finish. When I contacted them, they thought the issue was above ground (which they don't fix), but Gil agreed to come out that day and take a look. Gil helped me chip away the damaged wainscoting and plaster on my basement wall and identified where the water was coming in. Since it was on the foundation wall, Aquaproof could help, and Gil proposed two options for dealing with the water. He helped me figure out which was best for us and was able to get a crew out to do the work very quickly. The crew was professional and very nice. They arrived promptly and completed the work quickly. When I threw in an additional request at the last minute (remove soil that was piled too high on the other side of my house, they were able to comply and Gil handled the additional work very fairly from a payment standpoint. Last, Gil called after our first heavy rains to make sure the basement was dry. THANK YOU GUYS!

They responded to my phone inquiry promptly and arranged to come out and give me an estimate. The estimator, Doug Wesley, arrived as scheduled, walked the site with me, prepared a plot sketch, and gave me an estimate. He told me that with their current backlog of work, it would be at least 2 months before they'd be able to get to my project. A little over 2 months later, AquaProof notified me that they would be starting my work the following week. The crew showed up early on Thursday morning, and, even though they were unable to use their trenching machine due to the layout of the property, they were able to hand dig the trenches, lay the pipe, and backfill and grade the trenches is less then 5 hours. One of the lines ran underneath a walkway. They removed the flagstones (set in crushed limestone), ran the line, and reset the flags in their original positions. After completing the work, the crew's foreman walked over the job with me, showing me the routing of each line and the location of it's discharge.
Description of Work: Replaced four 50 year-old downspout drains, total length of about 160 feet.

They showed up when they said they would. The crew on the first day worked inside because of the weather. They installed a deeper sump well. It was a real mess, but they layed down mats and plastic. When they left, everything was spotless. On the second day, they did the outside work. They showed up on time. They worked all day the only time they stopped was for lunch. Our neighbors and even the mail lady couldn't believe how hard they worked and most of all how well they cleaned up. Our basement is DRY now. AquaProof is a wonderful company to work with.
Description of Work: They dug out foundation to the footer. At three places that had cracks that had leaks. They repaired and water proofed and also put in two window wells with drains. In the basement, they put a new sump pump in. They also dug the sump pump well deeper. They built up grade outside and did a finish grade with seed. They also put in a French drain under the bay window.

Overall, the work was excellent and I was a very satisfied customer. AquaProof did all of this work in one day and completely cleaned up afterwards. The supervisor, Gil Brummet, was very knowledgeable and professional in providing a free estimate, getting his work crew to the house as scheduled, starting the work on time and finishing the job in one day. His final cost was exactly what was agreed to in the contract, no surprises. I was very pleased with their work and highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Aquaproof dug a trench down to the bottom of the foundation wall of our 70 year old house. Waterproofing tar was applied to the foundation wall. Next corrugated waterproof sheeting was attached to the wall to allow water to drain down to drain tile which they installed at the bottom of the foundation. An electrical sump pump with a battery backup was installed inside the house in the basement to pump out water from the drain tile to the street. All dirt removed was filled back into the trench and tamped down to prevent too much settling. Three window well were placed around the basement windows with 4" PVC pipe inside to let water drain down to the drain tile. Gravel rock was placed over this pipe. Five hedges which had to be removed for the repair was replanted where they originally were. Finally they replanted grass seeds and placed down hay to complete the job.

I called to get an estimate to stop the water intrusion in our basement for our 1926 built home. The office set the appointment for the same day. Gill arrived on time and was very nice. He looked at the areas from the inside and outside of the home. He was very knowledgeable. Gill proposed 2 different approaches. The first approach was doing the job from the interior at a cost of about $7000. The second approach (cleaner) was doing the job from the outside at a cost of about $10,000. Gill followed up twice with phone calls. I felt the approach was reasonable and Gill seemed to have a good understanding of the problem. We did not want to invest that amount of money at this time to fix small trickling leaks in an older unfinished basement. If we decide to invest that type of money, I would consider using this company.
Description of Work: Provided a quote to install exterior excavation and drain pipe installation.
