I had a cracked downspout which tied into clay drain tiles, and some seepage during heavy rains that I wanted to have fixed. These problems weren't severe, but since I intend to stay in this house for the long term, I decided to have the whole side of my house waterproofed (including 3 window well drains, 3 downspounts). I was impressed with how hard the workers worked as well as how well they worked together on the day of the major work. I have large, mature trees that they had to avoid, and they did so. The majority of the work was completed in a single day, which was an accomplishment given the amount of dirt which was displaced. The original work was done on 9/22. On that day, after the work had been completed, I noticed that the grading near my AC unit was lower than the surrounding area that had just been regraded. This was not a desirable situation, as this location was also an inside corner, which would cause water to drain towards my house, something which was not an issue prior to this drainage work. I requested that this be resolved. When I brought this up, I was told that the original sales person should have told me that it needed to be raised for the drainage job to be done properly (at my expense). Estimates for this work ran from $250 to have pumpers put under the AC unit, if there was enough play in the AC lines, to ~$600 if the freon had to be removed from the unit first, the unit raised, and then recharged, i.e., not enough play in the AC lines. Getting estimates, and back and forth discussions wth Aquaproof took a couple of weeks. I pointed out that this was not an issue prior to the work, and Aquaproof agreed to put a drain around the AC unit at their cost to prevent water from pooling in the inside corner of my house. This work was completed on 10/28. Since the original work was done on 9/22, we have not had any significant rainfall. The first hard rainfall was on 10/26, when we had a lot of rain over a period of an hour. I happened to be at home, and checked the basement. Where I had seen seepage before had no issues, however, I found a new spot a few feet away, where a trickle of water was running from a corner at the end of my basement, and also right at the end of the drainage work area and near a downspout. This really surprised me, as I had not seen this before. When Aquaproof showed up to do the drainage around the AC unit on 10/28 (today), I showed them the corner in my basement. I was told that they will check their work, and also surprisingly, was told that the type of work that I had done will not solve this type of leak ?!!. There were some minor cracks in the outside above ground brick wall which was suggested to possibly be the ingress for the water, (which have now been caulked). However, now I have to wait for the next big rainfall and also need to happen to be at home to find if the crack in the brick might have been the cause of the water. I use Angie's list a lot, and my intention with this is to inform, as there were a couple of surprises to me from doing this project.

Should I have a problem in the future, this company will definitely be first on my list to call.
Description of Work: I noticed two small leaks in my foundation in my unfinished basement. I called Aquaproof to come out and assess the damage. I also needed a late evening (7p) appointment and they were very willing to do so. Gil Brummett came out and looked the situation over and told me he felt the issue had to do with the pump which pumps water away from the foundation. These pumps are normally good for 5 - 7 years. Mine is almost 20! He recommended for about $150 I could pick up a new pump at a plumbing supply place (recommended a brand called Mueller). Also recommended drilling some small holes in the container the pump sits in. Long story short, he said they could do inside work which would run around $2K or outside work that might run around $6K but he recommended trying this low cost solution first. It was refreshing to have a service person not automatically recommend the expensive solution. Thank you VERY much!

The original person who came out to give us an estimate was pushy and wanted a decision immediately. We were not going to go with this comapny but several days later the owner called and asked how the estimate went. When I told him I did not like the way the other person handled it he asked if he could come out and talk to us. The difference between him and the other man was like night and day. Danny gave us a much lower extimate and answered all of our questions. He explained why we needed to have the work done that he suggested. We called him the next day and he stopped by and we signed the contract. I did not hear from them for several weeks but when I called to check he put us in for the following week. They arrived on time and were done in one day. They had to remove our raised brick flower bed and part of our brick walk but they did a good job of making it look nice when they were done. It hasn't rained yet but I am hopeful it will be just fine. They seeded the yard and put straw down where they had dug it up. They even tolerated my large dog who watched them out the wondow or door most of the day. They cleaned up after themselves and were very polite. Danny came in the morning to get them started and stopped back later to see how things were going. I would recommend them highly to anyone needing this type of work.

Very positive experience. The work was completed in two full days and the crew was great. Ray, the forman, did a great job explaining what they were going to do before, and what they did when the work was completed. The guys moved all the stuff out of the way. Although, expensive I do feel like I received good value for the work.

I received good preliminary service from Aqua Proof's polite and very experienced representative, and he phoned back twice (about 1 week and 4 weeks later) to see if I had selected a contractor. I eventually chose another company that also seemed very good, but which gave a lower estimate for the option I preferred and (importantly) pointed out the possibility of using an existing floor drain rather than installing a sump pump. For basement waterproofing, it's important to get estimates for several solutions and from more than one company. I'd definitely recommend adding Aqua Proof to your list.

its unfortunate we could'nt earn your buisness The Legal way....However,unlike alot of companies out here they will tie into your floor drain knowing it is illegal and very troublesome if the sanitary line can't handle the water....It has been and is still illegal to tie into a floor drain. But it is cheaper to tie into your floor drain on your initial investment. We will do almost anything to earn your buisness folks as long as its legal...

They were great! Both Gil and the owner of the company stopped by that morning to go over the work to be done. The crew were very nice guys and they did a wonderful job. They did this whole job in one day, working from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm. First they moved stuff out of the way in my basement--- and there was a lot! Gil warned me that it was going to be noisy while they broke up the cement floor, so I went out for breakfast and they were almost done when I got back. The guys used the displaced soil from the front trench to fill a low spot in my yard and put grass seed & straw on it. They cleaned up after themselves and even hosed off my driveway.
Description of Work: They dug out the concrete all around the inside walls of the basement and put in drainage tile. They installed a sump pump and put new concrete over the areas they excavated. Outside they put in drainage along the side of my garage and ran the pipe out into my back yard. (My basement does not run under my attached garage.) They also dug along the front wall of my house, where the termites were the worst, and sealed it where it met the basement.

Excellent work. No high pressure techniques and we felt that it was custom to what we needed to fix our leaks (which were bad and getting worse) as opposed to a cookie cutter approach. I have dealt with many contractors on various home projects, and Aquaproof is the FIRST I've ever had that showed up on the day they said they would and completed the job in the length of time that was quoted. There was a large crew that showed up and they worked hard until it was done. Great cleanup and reseeding and leveling the yard to the way it was. We've had some very hard rains and 100% dry.
Description of Work: Excavated and sealed around 1/2 of house perimeter (3' deep). Installed new drainage lines along excavation and new drains in window wells. Added new connections for additional down spouts. Connected all to a new drain line out to street. Patched two deep cracks in foundation wall. Installed two custom window wells.

. Overall I am very pleased with the water proofing job this company completed at my home. They did an excellent job with the drainage problems I was having. They fixed the basement and the downspouts--all employees I dealt with were professional, extremely helpful and friendly to work with. From my first phone call : the office staff spent as much time speaking to me and answering my many questions as I needed. I have recommended them to several people since they completed the work at my home.
Description of Work: Aqua Proof Of Mason Ohio--came out to give a free estimate along w/ very detailed information of what I needed to solve my basement water problems. Every time there was a heavy rain I would end up with water leaking through the basement floor and walls. For the estimate they arrived on time, and there were NO pressure sales at all. The day they did the work they arrived on time and completed the job in a timely manner. The supervisor/owner also came out to check on the work they were doing on my home. I chose Aqua Proof because of the quality work they do and the reasonable price. I had the interior of my basement waterproofed by trenching all around the interior walls/floor and installed a sump pump. I also had all the downspouts re-routed away from the house to solve the water drainage issues. What a relief the first big rain to have NO water and a DRY basement!! I have and will continue to refer this company.

I called Aquaproof after my contractor and plumber told me nothing more could be done to stop a basement leak around a newly installed furnace vent. The owner of Aquaproof came out and gave me his professional opinion regarding how to solve the problem, then said I could have it repaired more efficiently and cheaply by my plumber, and did not charge me a penny. His solution worked!!! Thank you to Aquaproof, this is a long overdue kudos for honesty, and the knowledge how to solve a problem that flumoxed other professionals. Highly recommend.

Aquaproof has always conducted themselves in a courteous and professional manner. Their work was completed promptly and correctly on the three occasions that I've used their services. The first time was during the construction of my current residence. They extended and buried my downspout drains so that the pipes discharged away from the foundation of my house. Some years later, they repaired the sump pump drain line. The original home builder performed sub-standard work and the connection of my drain line to the main lateral drain line was completely clogged with dirt and roots. Aquaproof quickly assessed the problem and repaired the pipe connection. They also replaced my sump pump. The next interaction that I had with Aquaproof occurred in May 2009 when a storm drain line on my property became clogged. Aquaproof excavated the clogged pipe and replaced it. Again, they performed the work in a timely manner. On each occasion, Danny Manley provided expert advice and counsel. He has a friendly and helpful manner, which puts me at ease when dealing with problems and emergencies. I whole-heartedly recommend their services.
Description of Work: 1) Buried the downspout drain pipes so that they discharge mid-yard, as opposed to draining at the base of my house. 2) To prevent the sump pump line from flooding back to the house, they repaired the pipe connection to the larger lateral drain pipe. 3) Replaced my sump pump. 4) Replace a section of the lateral drain pipe that had completely clogged.

The owner of the company looked at the situation and stated that he thought the water was coming in over the sill of the foundation and was not coming in through the foundation or floor. He stated that I should confirm this, which I did the next day with a garden hose, and if so, I could fix it myself with caulking at the point of entry. I apprciated his knowledge and straight forwardness and the fact that he did not try to sell me a "bill of goods".

I am looking to finish off my basement and had to deal with a leaky wall prior to moving forward with the work. I called Aquaproof based on their record on angieslist and was very impressed with Gil the sales guy when he came out that same day to take a look at what I needed. He did not try to sell me on a huge indoor system which is what I expected. Instead he said they could fix just the wall that was leaking from the outside and give me a lifetime guarantee. They were able to show up 3 days later and completed the work in a day. The lanscape was very tight and they were able to move everything to get their equipment in to do the work. After they were done they put everything back and except for the lack of mulch, you would never know they were there. The guys doing the work were friendly and they answered all of my questions as the work went on. We have not had a major rain so I can't confirm it is completely water proof but based on what they did, I am sure it will hold up or I am confident they will come back to fix. I gave them a 4 on price because I did not get any other quotes. I could not be happier.

The salesman called back to find out if I had made up my mind. I told him I hadn?t yet and I was having another estimate 2 ? 3 days later. He asked me to call him back to tell him what I decided to do. I called back that afternoon and told him I was going with a different company. I knew this wasn?t good news for him, but that was how it was. He let me know the other firm I?d chosen was liars and their assistant doesn?t do their work. He asked me if he could come back out. After about 20 minutes of this, I let him know I had made up my mind and said goodbye. After about 10 minutes the phone rang and I didn?t answer. His boss had left me a message apologizing for Gil?s behavior and that he had said a lot of things he shouldn?t have. I called the boss back. He told me that Gil really thought he had this deal in the bag. I let him know that since he was rated by Angie's List as a super service award winner I would let them know about this inappropriate conversation.

Response from AquaProof Inc
I would like to respond to this report that this member has posted. I received a call from my salesman Gil Brummet about a conversation that he had with this customer. She informed Gil that she was going to conduct business with another company based on a verbal guarantee that the salesman from the other company made to her. Gil informed her that the statements the salesman made were not true and that no company in our industry would give that kind of warranty, which unfortunately made the customer upset. Our sales team has almost 60 years of experience in the waterproofing and drainage field and we pride ourselves with honesty and integrity, and despite upsetting this specific customer, we stand by our professional assessment. It has been and will continue to be our mission to educate our clients clearly and be 100% honest with them. We have been a member of Angie's List for four years and each year we have been awarded the Super Service Award for our exemplary service and integrity. Again, we stand by the assessment given to this customer and, to our current and future clients, please be assured that we will continue to act in a manner that has led to our current recognition by Angie's List. Sincerely - Danny Manley, President

When we called to tell them the problem, they came out very quickly and gave an estimate. They were thorough to look for other problems, but didn't try to sales pitch anything we didn't need - just gave us tips of what to keep an eye on for possible problems in the future. We agreed to the work, but they were pretty backed up and took about 6 weeks to come out to actually lay the pipe (frequent rain also set back their schedule). This delay was probably my only minor gripe. They called a few days before they were coming to warn us, and showed up on time that day. They carefully hand dug through the garden next to the house, and then through some lawn. They tried to go under the driveway without disturbing the surface, but encountered a large boulder with their 'mole'. He called me on the phone to tell me what was happening and asked my permission to slice through the driveway. They then ran the rest of the way through the other part of the lawn. The driveway was very well repaired, and they said they would return to fill in for any settling of the asphalt next spring. I was really concerned because we have cable, telephone, multiple lighting wires, and underground sprinklers running throughout the area they were working. They only hit the cable TV and repaired that line, but not well enough. However, Time Warner came out the next day and fixed it for free in five minutes. I was most impressed with how little damage they did to the driveway and lawn. I expected a big mess, but the slit must be only 1" wider than the pipe they layed. They seeded the lawn, but it probably wasn't even necessary because the damage was so narrow the lawn will grow in from the edges very quickly. In short, they left the area in much better shape than I expected, did very little damage, and were very communicative all the time. I am very pleasantly surprised with how it went, considering how much could have gone wrong with a task like this.
Description of Work: The underground pipe leading from our main downspout to the storm drain in the street was crushed and needed to be replaced. They ran a new pipe parallel to the old one and made the hookups at both ends. Pipe length was about 100 feet.

Job went very well until leaks developed after about a week. I was watering the grass seed after their initial visit and noticed one area that was still leaking. It took AP several trips to finally correct the problem with water entering along an old retaining wall and running into a crack. However, every time I called, these guys were at my house the same day, including Danny the owner. This was a tough job and although it took much longer than I would have liked to correct the problem these guys were top notch !! Polite, professional, good people to do business with. And after seeing what they went through to make me happy I am sure you will be pleased with their services and support.
Description of Work: I was in the process of remodeling my finished basement and needed to waterproof the basement walls. The home was built in 1950 with poured concrete walls with multiple cracks, windows and retaining walls. The job required Aquaproof to return several times to completely identify all of the points where water was entering my basement.

Danny came himself to assess what needed to be done. He was the first contractor I had out, and he told me the most likely scenario (collapsed drian lines, clogged window well drain, and a crack around the window well) and that in addition to replacing drain lines, I had insufficeint downspouts to handle water from my roof and showed me erosion from where water was cascading. Two other waterproffing contractors told me that my water was most likely from the clogged window well, and that if I had someone out to deal with my drain lines, my basement issue would go away. I had roto-rooter out to check the drains, and they were in fact collapsed. Their quote to replace my drains alone was over $6000! They were also going to use a backhoe and I would be responsible for repairing my lawn. Danny did substantially more than just replacing those lines for $6500. His guys were on-time and worked hard. There was indeed a crack in the basement as suspected. There was a crew of about 8 and they were able to complete the job in a day. They used a trencher to minimize damage to the yard and cleaned up the trenches, and put down seed and straw. The gutter guys came to do the gutter work the following day.
Description of Work: Dug out the foundation on a section of basement wall surrounding a window well. Repaired crack, waterproofed wall, and replaced drain in window well. Replaced 3 drain pipes that had collapsed that were carrying water to the sewer from my downspouts. Added piping for 3 additional downspouts and arranged for contractor to rerun gutters and add downspouts.

Description of Work: Dug down on the outside to the area where the water had come into the basement. Repaired the wall and drain tile, Added additional downspout and rerouted downspouts away from the foundation.

They water proofed by installing drains and sump pumps in an existing basement which was prone to water problems after rains. I got 4 or 5 bids. They were very competitive as they came down on the bid when I showed them another bid and they matched it.
Description of Work: I hired Aqua Proof Inc for basement waterproofing.

They have a lifetime guarentee on their work. The employee was very responsive whenever I have called with concerns after the work was done. I feel confident that if I have any other concerns in the future he would send a crew out to address the issue.
Description of Work: We used Aqua Proof to put in a drain around one side of our home.
