Water began coming through a basement wall in heavy storms, almost certainly due to blocked subterranean downspout drain lines. It was not clear whether the lines were blocked by debris or crushed by subsequent heavy stone landscaping. Danny and James visited to survey the situation and discuss resolution several weeks before. A significant postponement of the scheduled work due to weather was managed professionally. We were kept advised of the schedule. On the first planned work day the crew arrived reasonably promptly. Their equipment appears to be in good repair. The crew was of sufficient number to do the job, unfailingly polite, and careful. Damage to plantings they had to dig through was minimized. The initial hope, that much of the present drain lines could be salvaged, was not met. We discussed alternative routings of new drain lines; agreed on what to do and a new price. They completed the work on the second day, putting things back as well as could be expected. Trenches were nicely finished off and cleanout fittings installed as requested. Anticipated collateral damage to a crossing line was repaired and its pipe replaced with better material. They used grass seed I furnished to match the present lawn. The crew and I used my equipment to move surplus soil and rocks to another place on the land where needed, where they unloaded it with vigor. They were always cheerful and hard working. The crew and management were open to discussion and suggestions to reduce damage and facilitate subsequent repair and cleaning.

Aquaproof just finished an extremely extensive foundation stabilization job on my newly purchased home and I am very happy with the decision to contract this company. Their professional competence and knowledge, beginning with the owner, Danny, was immediately apparent during the initial meeting and evidenced by the work performed. Brent, the onsite manager running the show, did a great job. He, along with the entire outfit seemed to know exactly what they were doing at all times. That's huge when asking someone to push your house back together - I always felt comfortable that my house was in the most capable hands. This was a challenging job requiring over a dozen piers, foundation wall correction and stabilization, and a myriad of obstacles presented by the property itself and the ineffective work that had been done years ago by some bozo. Aquaproof completed the job in less than 4 days. Other bidders estimated nearly a month. These guys worked really hard to get this job done and now I can put it behind me. I thank them for that. Safety is a priority for them. No one will tell you it isn't. But for Aqauproof, they live up to it. They also put everything back the way it was before (or better). Unless something would unavoidably be lost (a plant here or there or similar type stuff) they took special care keep my property in tact. Steve, the carpenter, took a down a 3 seasons room, panelling in the basement, wood fencing, detached an outdoor sink, more that I am probably forgetting and replaced it all once the job was completed. In expert fashion. Also, they did dig up bushes and and other plants and put back once the job was completed. Like I said, they made every effort to return the property to the condition it was in (in my case though, it was better than before because I had a lot of weeds that were taken out and Aqauproof left a nice grade which will make sodding easier for me). Now on to money. Like most serious things in life, you get what you pay for. Aquaproof was the highest bid I received (and I'm not saying it was shockingly high). Taking into account the things they were able to do, that their competitors simply couldn't, I consider the price paid to be a tremendous value.

Employee providing quote was on time thorough in his explanation on what would be done on either interior or exterior only waterproofing. Quote was simply just too high based on my research. 35x45ft rectangle house on lot with easy access, no foundation issues to correct and 6 ft dig (for exterior). Quote was14,000 for interior only (included humidity control unit they valued at 1,495). Also received quote of exterior only waterproofing for 21,000 which included redirecting downspouts and adding sump pump to drainage pipes in front of house. Yes, to be fair they were nice enough to tell me I would get a 10% discount of the amounts as quoted and my $150 fee I paid for the quote would get applied to the price if I went forward. I would not use this company for a pre-purchase quote as the prices seem higher and almost feel they thought they were doing me a favor with a high quote as a negotiating tool.

I'd say our experience with this company is mixed. While there?s no way to tell for sure for a while, the work that was done appears to have been done very well. However, some of the work was unnecessary, so while done well it didn?t need to be done at all. Think of having a successful operation you didn?t need. I?m not sure exactly which of the rating criteria this fits so I attributed it to Professionalism. They did take $200 off of the quoted price when I called about doing unneeded work. The crew worked hard, cleaned up the areas nicely and appears to have done a good job. However, we did not need the area dug out and new drainage installed on the side of the house so we paid for work that we didn?t really need. Not a totally happy result. The moral of the story is if the source of a problem hasn?t been verified, don?t agree to have it fixed.
Description of Work: For a few years we’ve had an infrequent but troublesome leak that damaged the drywall in the finished basement right at the circuit breaker box, below grade, on one side of the house. Because of the drywall, there was no way to determine the exact point of the leak. We finally decided to have it looked at and called AquaProof. The estimator came out promptly as scheduled. After looking at the area both inside and out he decided it was due to a crack below grade. The recommended fix was to dig out an area about 5 ft. long by 6 ft. deep, repair the crack, coat the wall, and put in a sub-surface drainage system. When the crew dug out the area, they didn’t find a crack. Eventually they determined the leak was most likely caused by gaps between the brick and the plate at the top of the foundation above the ground. They thoroughly caulked the gap the whole depth of the house. However the area had already been excavated so they decided to finish the work and, of course, we were charged for it. We also had some work done at the rear of the house to stabilize the foundation which was performed as promised.

Called this company out in the very beginning to take a look the situation. Their quote was quite a bit higher than all others and since this was a real estate deal where the seller was paying for the work, we kind of dismissed the quote. Another company was selected. They did a terrible job. They grossly underquoted to get the business but then when they saw the degree of difficulty, they just left a large trench around the house. Turns out, from the beginning, Aquaproof really got all that needed to be done and this was going to cost. Danny (the owner) really knows what he's talking about and came out himself to help us understand all that was involved. We renegotiated with the seller. Very soon after we closed on the property, we had this work completed. They even called and asked if they could start one day earlier than planned! We were anxious to get the work done asap b/c there was a big trench around the property where water could collect around the foundation. They showed up bright and early. The foreman (who I think is named Matthew) could not have been more professional. You could see he did this every day and really got what the average homeowner would be feeling. I was *very* impressed by this fellow. Once Aquaproof comes out and begins work, you really get why not everybody can do this kind of work- the amount of machinery needed, how many workers were needed, how many trips back and forth to deliver gravel and remove dirt, and how many hours needed to complete the job. The kind of work isn't for the small guy- you really need to ask so many questions and study the situation before selecting a company. There are also crooks out there- the first company was supposed to excavate to the footing but placed waterproofing material around the foundation to make it look like they'd waterproofed to the footing. After Aquaproof excavated all the way down, you could see this. One problem that came up was resolved in a very satisfactory way. There seemed to be a difference between where Danny wanted to put downspouts and where the guy in charge of the company (Danny was on vacation during the job) wanted them. I didn't much care for this fellow because he's the one who originally came out to do the estimate. I somewhat blamed him for not more clearly outlining the job in the beginning- I feel like if he had, we wouldn't have wasted our time with another company. Anyway, I did not want changes to the plan made by Danny. They ended up doing both downspouts- we felt like we got more than we paid for and that the company was truly interested in resolving the waterproofing issues. At the end of the job, Matthew (the foreman) showed me the neatest thing. The drain tile stretched all the way around the house and went out quite far in the yard. He put a hose in the very front, turned it on and then we went around back. A minute or two later, there came the water! Very good feeling when spending so much money to know that the system really works! I was pleased the foreman showed me this- especially because at this point, I think he'd put in a 13 hour day or so. I'd say the only thing that wasn't done to my complete satisfaction was the degree of powerwashing of the front walk and that we might have needed a little more seed for the grass. But these are *small* things when considering all that went into this job. If I'd been truly bothered, I'm sure Aquaproof would have sent someone out and it would have been fixed. When selecting a company, I'd definitely ask for Danny (the owner) to come out and take a look. The man cares deeply about his company and seems to employ very hardworking individuals who care too. I was very impressed with their work ethic. Very pleased customer.
Description of Work: Excavate to the footing. Clean foundation and install waterproofing rubber membrane with tar. Install exterior drain pipe. Hook in sump pump already installed. Remove all soil and refill entirely with gravel to correct grading problem (brick extended way down deep in soil). Bring the drain pipe 70 feet out to end of property. Install a couple downspouts and improve existing downspouts. Regrade, straw and seed. Remove all landscaping and debris.

It went well. The estimator came out and worked with me to come up with the right solution for my situation, and we wrote it up. Later the owner came out did a walk around with me. The owner said that some things would be done, that weren't spelled out on the contract. When the foreman and crew arrived, they were only able to do things spelled out on the contract. I cannot fault them for this, but lesson learned. If it isn't on the contract... it isn't going to happen. The foreman and crew were very hard working and dilligent. They were considerate of my house, put down plastic, and cleaned up after themselves. Do not be surprised when a bunch of big sweaty guys without shirts on are all over the worksite, this is the nature of the work. The work was done well and as quickly as possible. So far the basement has stayed dry despite the occasional heavy rain. I am happy with the work.
Description of Work: They installed an indoor basement waterproofing. They dug a trench on the inside of my basement all the way around, then put in pipes at a grade so that all water would drain into a basin the dug into one corner. They also installed a pump that pumps water out of the basin into the city designated drainage point outside of my house.

Professional, did not nickle & dime during the repair, with a quality result.
Description of Work: We had a major foundation and associated water problem in our basement. The work to fix this properly was extensive and included digging around the exterior, lifting the house and pusing a 40 ft section of the basement wall back into place. The drainage was brought up to code and the yard was properly graded and seeded. Other contractors had "quick fixes", which I do not feel were adequate given the seriousness of the issue. Aquaproof was professional, explained the process and the pros and cons of alternatives, and provided a price which did not change as other suprises were discovered. In the end, the basement wall is stable and in the correct position, and the basement has been dry through periods of significant rainfall.

I could not have been more impressed with a company. My in-laws hired Aquaproof to reinforce a bowing front block wall and excavate and waterproof 65 feet of wall of their walk-out ranch house. Their house was for sale, and the problem was discovered during a house inspection. A structural engineer was brought in, and the buyer would stay in the contract if the problems were fixed before closing in 45 days. I helped my father-in-law interview five companies before making a decision. Gil Brummet, the general manager of Aquaproof came to the property and after looking at the engineer's drawings, made an estimate. We negotiated some prep and concrete work into the bid and agreed to an all-inclusive price to complete the project per the engineer's instructions. Gil was explicit that the price would include everything, and it did. He was great to work with. The project was finished in two days in a mammoth operation of efficiency and logistical brilliance. During the project, the crew was always very polite and professional in grueling hot conditions. The project manager always had time to update me or answer questions. The company owns its own equipment and had all the necessary machines and material on site to complete the job. The company also immediately responded to any problem. They came and patched the asphalt driveway where the weight of a machine caused an indentation. A machine bumped a gutter and because adding a patch did not look right, replaced the whole front gutter. Obviously, excavating will mess up your yard and your landscaping close to the house will suffer. Additionally, the reinforcement beams on the inside walls need to be secured into the existing foundation which means jackhammering and dust. As far as the dirt, some was reused as fill and the rest is hauled away unless you want it spread somewhere in the yard. Aquaproof does complete the job with a finished final grade. Not all companies do. They also seed and put straw down. As for the dust, the dust was not that bad. We were instructed to put cheescloth over vents. Overall, this company was fantastic to work with for so many reasons. Finding out your house needs this level of work is devastating especially for senior citizens. Being under a time crunch added to the anxiety level. Gil and later Brent, the project manager, took the time to explain everything and reassure my in-laws they would fix the house so the engineer would sign off on the repairs and it could be sold. Since some repairs were unusual, Gil was in contact with the engineer from the beginning. Also, an engineer isn't always involved, and I have no doubt that Aquaproof could have fixed the house properly without the buyer's engineer. I had talked with several companies by the time I met with Gil and had a basic understanding of the issues. Gil had great command of the engineering issues involved and made clear the company had a lifetime guarantee on their work. The company does not take short cuts either. In other words, they do things right. The new sump pump had a battery backup. They backfill and leave a finished grade in the yard. They also own the equipment and have it available to tackle even a big job like this house. They even added a new second downspout to the gutter to increase flow efficiency and tied it into the nre runoff pvc pipe underground. I met the owner the last day, and he, like Gil and the workers, take a personal pride in doing things right. Of all the different contractors I have worked with, this company is unparalleled in professionalism and ability in their field. I could not have been more impressed with a company's attitude towards its customers. They do everything the other companies in the field do and do more, and do it right. Other notes: Foundation problems were new to me so we interviewed Boiman, Dwyer, Jaco, the Basement Doctor, and Aquaproof. Aquaproof owns their own equipment which is not only convenient, it also lets them do jobs quicker. Some of the companies stated it would take a week or more to complete the job. Also, because other companies do not have similar manpower, they could not commit to the job until later in the summer - after the scheduled closing. Customer service is also important. Jaco could not finish a bid before the rep. went on vacation. Jaco was probably a distant scecond choice because they finished the final grade and came in with a bid close to Aquaproof in price. Dwyer was noted by the engineer as someone he had successfully worked with. The Dwyer rep. verged on unfriendly. He seemed to care less whether he got my father-in-laws business. I don't doubt he was competent but his preliminary bid was high and he never responded with a final bid once the engineer's plans were available. His initial guesstimate was $5000 higher than Aquaproof's. and I think would have gone up. My last point to make is that this work isn't cheap. You have to take the time to meet with the different companies to see how much they will fix it for, when they can fix it, how they will fix it, and how they guarantee their work. Also, has the company been in business long enough to indicate they will be around to honor the warranty? The manager from Aquaproof knew I had talked to other companies and made a competitive bid. You have to do your homework on price but also on what is included. Besides basic clean up, no companies will reframe a wall or drywall or paint. Only Jaco and Aquaproof offer a finished final grade which is nice as the clay soil takes forever to settle and settles unevenly. Most do not often replace any outside concrete removed for excavation. Make sure you know what the company will and will not do. I thought Aquaproof's bid was a good one because the bid was close to Jaco's number but included more. Also - ask about worse case scenarios. What if they have to dig through rock? What can drive the cost up from the estimate? The was a big deal for my father-in-law. Gil from Aquaproof offered a bid to do whatever it took to finish the job. Plus I put it in the contract.
Description of Work: My in-laws one story walkout ranch had a bowed front basement wall with stair step cracks in the block foundation. The house was under contract and the sale was conditioned upon fixing the house to the satisfaction of the buyer's structural engineer. Aquaproof performed the following services: reinforced front basement wall with steel beams, excavated front of house to remove compromised backfill, added membrane to basement exterior wall, refilled exterior with appropriate gravel backfill, expanded sump pump, estabilished proper drainage with pvc to inconspicious part of backyard including adding second gutter downspout for better gutter efficiency, filled interior cracks with grout, added battery backup to sump pump, and per engineer's instructions - added steel plates and brackets to perpendicular block walls to tie in first floor to foundation.Aquaproof also completed the job with a finished grade, reseeded, and applied straw. Since a small pad of concrete had to be removed near the front walk, we negotiated with Aquaproof to have that area repoured.

The people were quick and polite and I was happy overall with the result. The wall covering wasn't quite what I expected but it working out fine. I don't have plans to remodel the basement and this covering would need to be covered up as it's not like a real wall. They did crack one basement window at the end of the day and promised to call to schedule to fix it but the window was never replaced. I never called them and I did not follow up.
Description of Work: The estimate was the best I got and their system has worked very well keeping my basement dry. I've not had any water issues since.I had 3 walls of my basement waterproofed and they added a sump pump.. They also covered each wall with a thick plastic white wall covering. There was a 3 month wait to have the service performed once the contract was signed.

We received bids from 3 different companies. Although AquaProof’s bid was not the lowest, the description of the problem and their solution was the by far the most detailed and comprehensive for correcting the water leaking inside into the basement from cracks in the back wall foundation and to eliminate the standing water in areas of the backyard after heavy rains. The main excavation work was completed in one day in June as projected. After backfilling, work area was graded, and then seed and straw were put down. An air conditioning unit had to be disconnected, moved away from the back wall foundation before excavation, then moved back and reconnected after excavation. Downspouts were also installed afterward. The air conditioning work and the new downspouts were contracted out by AquaProof and included in the bid. All representatives of AquaProof were reliable, punctual, and with customer satisfaction always being their first priority. The AquaProof crew worked together efficiently as a team and was always professional with quality as a guide to the final product. Since the work has been completed the weather has been too dry to see the results. Though we are confident that our backyard drainage problem has been resolved, we will update this review within the next few months when sufficient rainfall has occurred and put the new drainage system to the test.
Description of Work: AquaProof installed a 75-foot French drain in the back yard. They dug 4 feet down to the footer along the backside of the house and applied materials to waterproof the foundation wall. They installed a 53-foot drain along the footer, and then tied into an existing drain in order to take water away from house to the street sewer. They also installed four new, larger drainpipes to the gutters and tied them in underground to the new drainage system. This insured that all roof water would be completely removed from around the foundation’s perimeter.

On May 30, 2012 the owner of Aquaproof came to my home to determine the extent of the problem with water coming into my basement and to provide a solution and estimate for the work needed. He was extremely knowledgable about block foundations and was able to assess the damage to the home very quickly. He took several measurements and asked lots of questions. He spent quite some time explaining his findings and providing a solution. He also provided a fair estimate for the work. Aquaproof gives a lifetime guarantee on their work, and the guarantee is transferable if the house is sold. Aquaproof came at 8:15 a.m. on 6/20/2012 and worked until after 8:00 p.m. waterproofing the outside of my home via the trenches and new drainage systems. The men were were extremely hard workers and worked beautifully as a team. The Project Manager worked just as hard, if not harder, than the team members. He not only insured the project stayed on time, but also ensured that everyone knew what job responsibility was theirs. He handled all issues in a very professional manner. On 6/21/2012, they came at 8:00 a.m. and worked until 9:15 p.m., waterproofing the inside of my home, via the trenches and new sump pump. The team that came today had fewer people, but worked just as hard, if not harder. It was much cooler for them in the basement versus the sweltering above 90"s temps outside the day before. When the new concrete was installed, they removed all the plastic and cleaned up any remaining dust, loose concrete, etc. Again, the Project Manager oversaw all work and did a lot of it himself. He and the other members of the team were some of the nicest people I have ever met.
Description of Work: Aquaproof dug trenches along the entire front and right side of my home to the property line in the back ; half way up the left side of my driveway and across the back; from the top right side of the driveway along the left side of my home to the back of my property line. All trenches were filled with plastic, stones, aerated pipe. Dirt, grass seed and straw were placed on all trenched areas in the back and right side on my home. The front of the house, left side of the driveway and right side of the driveway trenches were topped with large stones. All this work was accomplished on 6/20/2012. The next day, Aquaproof moved and completely covered items in my basement and taped heavy plastic sheets to the ceiling and floors. They jack hammered the entire front and right side wall floors, starting at 4" and finishing at 30" deep. Again, the trenches were filled with plastic, stones, aerated pipe and topped with new concrete. At the lowest corner, a sump pump was installed. In addition, they broke out a glass block window in order to send the "old concrete" and mess out and bring in the "new concrete" without having to go through my home. When finished, they blocked up the open window area and cleaned up. All this work was completed on 6/21/2012. On 6/22/2012, the electrician came to put in new wiring and outlet for the sump pump. The work took less than 1 hour. On 6/23/2012, the glass block window was replaced within 30 minutes. On 6/27/2012, all items in the basement were able to be moved to their original positions on the "new concrete", as it had cured for 5 1/2 days. DO: Clean out your basement prior to having a sump pump installed. DO: Put cheesecloth over all vents and cold air returns.

Mr. [member name removed] - Thank you for your review on Angie's List. It looks like we installed our work for you back in July of 2012. I hope everything went smoothly and that you are happy with the outcome! Please let us know if we can do anything for you in the future. Sincerely The AquaProof Team

I called Aquaproof to evaluate our downspouts and drainage for our 106 year old home. An appointment was scheduled the following day for 6 pm and Gil arrived promptly to meet us. I pointed out the reason for our concerns and he explained how our drainage was designed to work and the locations where it was most likely backing up. He recommended that the work that was required to resolve our drainage problems could be done ourselves with a little investment and explained how we could go about doing it. He felt that since we were not intending to completely waterproof our stone basement and have it finished, it would not be warranted for us to spend $1200+ on a project to dig up all of our drainage pipes and replace them. Gil was very helpful and honest with us. We plan to follow his recommendations and save our money for another project.
Description of Work: Aquaproof was contacted to provide an estimate of work on downspouts and drainage around our house.

I've had a minor leak in my basement and knew the source for some time. When a new leak appeared without an apparent explanation. Fearing the worst case scenario, I looked for an expert to diagnose the problems and recommend solutions. My email contact from Angie's list was responded to within a few hours and I had an appointment set up the next day for an estimate. It is always a concern dealing with an unknown service company, and not being an expert on the subject, wondering whether you'll be taken advantage of lack of knowledge. When an expert company tells you their services aren't required - you can nearly always be assured that's an honest answer. And when they go further and explain the problem and the do-it-yourself solution, that's going above and beyond. Many thanks to Danny, Gil and all those at Aquaproof.
Description of Work: I had some concerns about my basement leaking in a couple of different places. After speaking with Danny on the phone, Gil came out for an estimate the next day and frankly told me I did not need Aquaproof services and how I could make the necessary repairs myself or with a little assistance. That's honesty and integrity, and looking out for your neighbor. If you have a leaking basement - you'll get an honest answer from Aquaproof. If I have a problem in the future they will be the first company I call for assistance.

It seemed to be a thorough job, and I am not worried about the leak coming back. I was actually pretty disappointed with them because it took them about a month from the time I called them to get out here and actually fix the leak. It was during the winter with rain and snow, and my basement was leaking during that entire time. It was frustrating, and I had to call them back two or three times to get them to actually come out. I had to take the day off of work to be here while the guys were working, and I heard them make good fun of me for not having to work and seeing them play video games. I took the day off in order to be there so that they get the job done, but they were just very unprofessional. The price was competitive, and it was what I was expecting it to be.

They did a great job. They bought out a whole crew. They kept me informed on what they were doing, and they let me take pictures. They cleaned up, and they were courteous. They were very responsive they gave me a time frame, and they were here. They were very nice guys. It was a little bit pricey.
Description of Work: AquaProof Inc water proofed my basement. They dug everything out, and put the membrane on. They rerouted the downspouts underneath the ground.

Gil was early for our appointment. He looked at the whole picture to diagnose the problem instead of just looking at the interior. The crew that worked on my house were punctual, professional and diligent. They broke the crew up into two teams. One for the basement excavation and system installation. One for the external drains. The foreman (Matt) had extreme attention to detail to ensure the job was done well. Despite running into a couple unforeseen problems the crew just kept chugging along and finshed the job in an excellent manor. I look forward to the opportunity to refer my friends and family to AquaProof.

James, the sales representative provided a presentation which included the different ways to solve the problems and Aquaproofs solution to the problems. We had several contractors provide solutions and Aquaproof was the only one that provided pictures and a detailed explaination to fix the problems--inside and outside. Scheduling the work went very well--we had several times, which we were unavailable and they worked to get a date scheduled to accomomodate our schedule. When the crews arrived, they explained exactly what they were going to do. James was also at the house as we just had a new patio roof installed and we wanted those gutters buried as well. We had covered items in the basement that we did not move from the area and the crew put their own coverings over ours. They also put a covering on the "entryway/kitchen area" floor and from ceiling to floor to keep as much of the dust from the main living area as possible. They cleaned the basement area thoroughly after all their work. Before they left, they walked us through the basement and expained all the work performed. The exterior work--burying the gutters and drain system was professionally done as well--they planted grass seed when their work was completed and washed down the areas. Both the interior and exterior crews were professional and courteous. The crews provided detailed explanations of all work that was accomplished.
Description of Work: Water leaking through basement walls and under basement floor; exterior problem--water pooling in the yard along the fenceline. . Aquaproof installed a new drain system, sump pump and backup and fixed cracks in the walls. They also buried the outside gutters and put a drain system on the side of the house near the fenceline.

With all the respect in the world sir /mam what Gil brummett general manager of our company with over twenty five years experience in the industry, analyzed your problem and explained to you not only did you need a drain tile at your footing to prevent seepage but he would not do your job without doing it properly.which would consist of putting in drainage on the right exterior wall because of the negative grade and extending your three downspouts you have dumping on the ground compounding your problem. He also expressed his concern of only installing a interior system with the obvious exterior problems would only increase the amount of water undermining your footing would rapidly increase the structural damage to your foundation. Fact is we apologize for not relaying that message clearly, however when your walls start bowing do to the wrong application you were obviously sold, call us back we will be happy to excavate your foundation and push it back for you. Thanks general manager Aquaproof Gil Brummett sorry I failed to open your eyes to severity of your problem and I will say again I will not install a system that will prevent seepage and knowingly cause structural damage due to inviting water under your footings.

Response from AquaProof Inc
Member, I do not feel that our company policy is “absurd”. We spend a great deal of time looking into how we earn our customer’s business. Like I stated in the response to the member who you reference as previous reviewer, we have a 63% better chance of earning the business if all parties are present. Please see my response to the previous member's report for more details. Sincerely Danny Manley

Aquaproof will not handle our repair work. They will not be scheduled to present an estimate. Any company that makes it such an inconvenience to do business with them while at the same time being condescending to me as an intelligent woman and presumptious about my ability to understand their complex estimate will never earn my business.
Description of Work: After discovering a problem with the downspouts of our home during a recent heavy rain, I called Aquaproof to schedule an estimate for repairs. They were prompt in returning my call to schedule a free estimate, but they were not, nor will they ever be, successful in earning our business due to a ridiculous, outdated, and condescending policy that requires both members of a couple requesting an estimate to be present for the appointment. They attempted to explain that the policy is necessary because the repair solutions and estimates they provide are so complex, but there is no getting around the fact that it is out of sync with the lives of busy, two career families and intelligent, empowered women who make any number of decisions that are far more complex and important than drainage repair. It is 2012; wake up and take a look at your potential customer base and realize that your prehistoric estimate policy makes you uncompetitive and, at least to this Angie's List member, offensive.

Response from AquaProof Inc
My name is Danny Manley I am the owner of AquaProof, Inc. in response to the letter written by the member I would like to state the following. The number one thing I want people to do is to judge my company based on all of my reports just not one or two; especially when we have not done work for someone who has written a review. I have instructed my Office Manager that when someone calls us for an estimates to tell them that when at all possible we would like to talk to the Owners of the property, it could be wife and husband, parents and children, brothers and sisters. We try to make it as convenient as possible by running appointments 7 days a week from 8 am to 8 pm and if that is absolutely not possible we do still run the appointment. I offer free estimates to home owners; I spend thousands of dollars on advertising to expose my company’s name to get appointments. You might find it hard to believe but for example Reach magazine cost’s AquaProof $4,000 a month to run an Ad; if I get 10 appointments that means that Ad was $400 for each appointment. Here are the facts; my company does a great deal of tracking as to where our sales come from, how many appointments we run and how many appointments we sell. If I have all home owner’s present at the time of the appointment to educate them about their specific problem and their specific solution(s) that my company can offer them I have a 63% better chance to get that job in future if all parties are present. And that is a fact. If you were the owner of this company and you have a 63% better chance to earn someone’s business wouldn’t you want all parties there? WE DO NOT COME OUT AND GIVE A SALES PITCH AND TRY TO STRONG ARM PEOPLE INTO MAKING THAT DECISION THAT DAY IN FACT ONLY 20% OF OUR CUSTOMERS DECIDE TO DO BUSINESS WITH US ON THE INTIAL VISIT 80% WILL CALL US BACK WHEN THEY ARE READY TO HAVE THE WORK DONE AND THAT’S THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. My Office Manager, Tracy, is a very nice person and would never talk condescendingly to anyone. If the member would have given Tracy the chance to talk she would have been told that if there is never a time when both home owner’s can be present that the Owner, Danny, would run the appointment himself but Tracy was never given the chance. I would also like to state that our policy is the same when the husband calls in instead of the wife; we ask him when the best time is for him and his wife to be there for the free estimate. In closing, we do like to have all parties there if possible if not we will still run the appointment. If there are any questions regarding this policy please feel free to call me @ 513-608-9041. Sincerely, Danny Manley

The contractor showed up not only on time but early. I then explained to him that I would soon be renting out my house and didn't have a lot of money for an elaborate repair. So after looking at where the water was leaking, he explained to me what was going on and said instead of overcharging me just to meet their minimum project costs, he told me exactly how to fix it myself, since it was a smaller job. I appreciated him doing this because a lot of contractors I seek to hire for work see me as a single female, easy target for overcharging and he did not treat me this way.

The large crew of 7-8 showed up on time and begun working simultaneously on the outside and inside of the house. Crew was friendly and finished the majority of the work in one day. The next day they returned and finished the job including a "rough grade". Once spring came and the ground had settled, I called the office and they sent out a small crew of 3 to complete the finish grade with a dump truck of topsoil and grass seed/straw. This is the second property that I have used Aquaproof's services and I was once again very pleased. I obtained a number of quotes from other large waterproofing companies in Cincinnati prior to choosing Aquaproof. Unlike most of the others, I was pleased that Aquaproof's estimators were not slick salesmen with glossy brochures and dire warnings of killer black mold urging me to do more than I needed. Owner Danny Manley is a straight shooter and his crew did excellent work for a reasonable price.
Description of Work: 20 feet of foundation excavated to the footer on exterior, 20 feet of interior concrete floor removed, drainage tile installed on outside with drainage mat, drainage tile on interior tied into new sump pump and pit.

The owner came out to do an estimate and was extremely honest with his assessment. Then he gave me a quote and since I was concerned about transferrable warranties, he reiterated that all work is guaranteed and transferable for the LIFE of the work. Once the work began, the crew was very prompt and went straight to work. They covered all items in the basement with tarps and advised we cover vents on the first floor. They also covered flooring to ensure no messes. They completed the work in a day as promised and have had NO LEAKS since. They are extremely honest and professional!
Description of Work: They broke up the concrete around the perimeter of the basement to tie the lines to the sump pump. Once completed, they repoured new concrete and then they waterproofed cracks and leaks on the walls.
