Very impressed with the owner of the company who came out to do the walk through and provide an estimate. He advised what we needed and explained in detail why. Also, described how the work would be done. And, he did not try to sell us any expensive add-ons which we didn't need. He pulls no punches, tells it like it is and I appreciate that kind of straight forward talk. Looking forward to getting the work done.
Description of Work: Owner came to the residence and provided estimate for the work. Called him back later in the day to let him know we wanted to hire him and he came back that night to execute the contract. Work to be performed in December.

It was a big job. Much excavating, all by hand, took longer than planed. At the end of the job, we asked if original bid was fair, given all of the extra time/work. We were having new electrical service provided also and the two crews coordinated efforts and we saved some $ on the electrical by piggy backing on the excavation done by Aquaproof. We agreed on a new, higher price that reflected our satisfaction with their doing it right and not cutting corners to make a profit. They were willing to honor the original bid but we were not comfortable with that. BTW, the basement no longer leaks:).

Bad experience. First of all I originally called Aquaproof about 1 1/2 years ago to check out my basement foundation that had some cracks and bowing and I really felt like I got an honest opinion of what needed to be done with my basement, the guy was really informative. I did not proceed with the renovation because at that time I ws just "fact finding". After having several basement waterproofing and foundation repair companies out after Aquaproof I developed a good base knowledge of basement waterproofing and foundation repair, About one week prior to calling Aquaproof this second time I called a structural engineer that gave me a detailed thorough assessment of my basement foundation issues along with choices for repair and waterproofng. I then decided to call Aquaproof a second time to compare what they had to say with the structural engineer. Well, the owner Danny came out and he was absolutely horrible. Without making this review too long I will just touch on a few things; he went on and on about a kitchen addition I have that he claims is sinking and needed to be completely demolished in order to waterproof from the outside. The structural engineer I had out 1 week prior saw no sinking issues at all with my kitchen addition. He kept referring to a crawl space under my kitchen additon that does not exist. I have no crawl space underneath my kitchen. He was all over the place with telling me what he thought was wrong with my basement foundation and suggested things be done that were over the top for my basement situation. He basically wanted me to demolish my entire kitchen addition and do major waterproofing from the outside! My structural engineer had assessed that that much work did not need to be done to solve my problem. Word of advice, spend the extra money to get a strucural engineer (i paid $285) so people like this don't take advantage of you!
Description of Work: Gave me an inflated estimate.

They completed the work ahead of schedule in 3 days - they put in very long days (one day was a 14 hour work day for them). They arrived before 8 am each day and worked hard all day. The workers were polite and friendly and very hard working. I have nothing but compliments for this company and the work their employees did - highly recommend. Will say that the negotiation process on the price was elongated and a bit frustrating - it helps to have other bids to compare apples to apples and get the best price. Aquaproof was not the least expensive bidder, but since my home is on the market, the extra things that they included in their proposal were things I considered important for potential buyers, especially once I was able to get them to come down from their initial bid. I had engaged a structural engineer to design the project, and Aquaproof worked well with the engineer throughout the project.
Description of Work: Waterproofed the basement of my 80 year old home and structurally reinforced failing basement walls (involved digging ditches around the entire home to waterproof the exterior and install drainage system, relocated downspouts, installing 33 steel beams, a sump pump, and interior drainage system)

They arrived promptly. James Cline, he gave us the estimate and drew up the contract, came and explained everything that was to be completed to the foreman. He left and the three men) went right to work. They stayed on the job and worked very hard only stopping a short time for lunch. They finished the job and cleaned up at best they could. I had question regarding the ground settling and the foreman assured me that it would but to call them and they would come back out with some top soil and see and smooth it out. They have to come back in a couple of days and remove the would forms from the cement sidewalk and chip away a little cement that is in the dirt by the small patch of the sidewalk. All three men were hard workers and did not waste time. After several weeks I called and told them that the ground needed to be leveled and more grass seed needed to be put down. They came out within a few days and took care of the problem. I received a follow-up call and told them that they took care of it. However I asked about the patching work down by the window. It was very rough and the black tar that they used to seal the small crack showed. I was happy that they agreed that it should not look like that and they sent a man out that very day to fix it. He did a very good job. The job was paid in full upon completion. They followed up and made sure that it was done to our satisfaction. I would recommend them to my best friends.
Description of Work: Put drain pipe in backyard to take water away from house. Removed sidewalk by window well (where water sometimes collected) put in drainage system to divert water and replace cement sidewalk. Replaced dirt over drainage pipe and put grass seed down.

After actively researching, I called requesting a quote for 2 of our exterior downspout drains that are currently holding water to be replaced. The women that answer the phone informed me that didn't clean out underground drains (not what I was requesting at all in our conversation). I informed her that I didn't want them cleaned out, only replaced. She was searching for an appointment timing for a quote for the replacement of the drains, but only wanted to make it in the afternoon or evening when my husband was available for the meeting too. I told her that our family schedule varies and mornings would be best for me. After a bit of back and forth, she still was asking what worked best for ME, but still wanted my husband here for the appointment. Honestly, I was quite put off by this and told her that I was fully capable of relaying the information to my husband after the meeting. Still the women was adamant that my husband be here. I also told her if this how they run their business, then I've called the wrong company for a quote! I finally did make an AM appointment that would work for me. However still irritated a couple of hours later by way the call went, I called back to cancel the appointment.

[removed member name] We are sorry to hear that you were left irritated after calling into our office. It is our company policy that any owners of the home be present when we come out to give an estimate. We have found over the last 10+ years that if everyone is present the first time we come out there are less questions left unanswered that the other owner(s) might have. AquaProof doesn't have one fix all like some other companies; with that being said there is a lot of information given during our estimates as there can be multiple didn't ways to fix your problem(s). With all parties there we can get all of the information out, answer all questions and leave you with an estimate that everyone fully understands. We are sorry that your phone call into our office was not the highlight of your day. We hope you were able to get your basement issues fixed. Sincerely, AquaProof, Inc.

Everything went smoothly and according to plan. Aqua Proof did all that was promised on budget and on schedule. It would have been helpful for them to offer to coordinate installation of the separate circuit for the sump pump and to re-install the dryer vent and sink, but those were outside the scope of the contract -- but it would have been a great value-add. But overall I am very satisfied with everything they did.
Description of Work: Corrected a foundation wall that was leaning in about 4". Dug a trench outside the wall, installed aggregate and drain tile, geotextile drain, and waterproofing. Jacked wall back into place and installed steel pier reinforcing on the inside. Installed sump pump and piped downspouts to storm sewer.

He would have dug up the entire area, installed drainage tile, to the tune of over $4000.00. Now mind you, this was a minor crack and he made it sound like we had a huge problem. He had a very smooth presentation, well rehearsed. A little too smooth. We just finished talking to a repair company that gave us a price of $680. which is what we thought it should cost for a minor issue.

We were very pleased with what they did overall, because the problem we had was pretty extensive. They did a really good job. We are pretty happy. With what we received, the price was not bad. Their punctuality was good.
Description of Work: We used Aquaproof when we kept having floods in our basement. It was caused by our sump pump going out. We found out later that when the home was built, they had put the drainage to the sump pump incorrectly. They put in a motor that had too low of voltage on the sump pump. These guys came in and jack hammered up the whole bottom of our basement around the edges of the basement perimeter on the inside. They relayed all the piping and re-cemented. They put in a new sump pump. So far, we have not had any water.

It went great. I don't recall the price. The drainage line for our house was not put in correctly when the house was built. They lowered it to have a more natural drain and took it on out to the road. They made a natural drain out of it. I liked the fact they cleaned up really well after the job and put the grass back and reseated it, so it came up looking nice. It took them all day to finish the job. My husband did a lot of research and chose them because of the information on Angie's list. We got this done, because the state redid the road in front of our house, which changed the drainage line. We were getting water in our basement because of the state changing the slope of things. We finally decided to do something about it ourselves.

Danny's crew does great work and he stands behind the work once completed. Luis did the majority of the work; he removed the old gutters and made sure the yard was cleared of all debris. He even did a second search for any nails that might have been missed the first time around! The new 6" gutters and new downspouts went up without any problems. Everything was straight and level. Luis takes a lot of pride in his work. The new drainage systems are working great. We had a few leaks at the corners of the gutters after a very hard rain and one call to Danny is all it took to get it fixed. He sent a crew member out the next day. Needless to say we are very pleased with the services provided and the fact that Danny's crew treats your home like it is their own. We can recommend AquaProof without any reservations!

James, the estimator/boss came out to introduce his crew of 3 guys and then left. The guys worked all day, replacing the crappy pipe that the original builder put in 14 years ago - it had all crumbled and caved in and blocked the pipe flow. It appeared to be a great improvement, and we are happy with the job so far.
Description of Work: Came out the first time to give a free estimate for replacing 3 gutter and 1 sump pump line from house to street. Came out to do the work on the perfect day for us - great weather right before the rain that usually would flood our yard. They said we were a smaller job so they were able to squeeze us in between bigger jobs.

The young lady who answered the phone simply told me that they don't install water faucets and wanted to refer me to someone else. I said well that's not exactly what I need and again tried to explain what we required. I had already looked into their services on the internet and on Angie's list and I knew they would be the right company for the job. Couldn't get this into her head so I told her she just lost a job for the company.

Danny and his crew were very professional, with an appropriate focus on worker safety as well as best practices with regard to waterproofing and drainage. They were able to use some existing drainage system, which reduced the cost. They were punctual, efficient, completing the project in two days. They were very good about returning to address a subsequent issue of leveling air conditioning units. We did solicit other bids and Aquaproof was very competitive in price and seemed to be the most expert, thinking through the best solution for our problem. We highly recommend Aquaproof for any foundation work. Wish we had done this repair sooner - it was much easier than expected and it feels great to have a dry crawlspace!

Arrived punctually on the first day of service. Soon discovered that the work to be done was going to be more expensive and take more time than the initial 2 days planned. The previous owners of our home had poured a second sidewalk over the original to hide a serious problem with the front wall. When the sidewalk was removed the crew soon discovered that the bricks on the front of our home were in danger of sliding off since the top of our basement wall had moved in about 7 inches. This resulted in needing to add angle irons and braces to support the brick facing, and the crew working all day on Saturday to complete the primary work to our property. Despite many more manhours than anticipated in the initial contract, the only additional cost we incurred was $300 for gravel, which we feel was very reasonable. So, all-in-all the initial work was completed promptly and professionally. There were a few communication issues, all of which were resolved to our complete satisfaction. (1) Installing larger downspouts on the front of the house - we were verbally told this would be done at the time of the price quote. They were not, and when we contacted Danny the owner, he did not hesitate to get them installed promptly. (2) Initially, the sump pump was to be installed on the inside right front wall of the basement floor. The crew asked if they could instead install the sump pump on the left front basement floor, which would require less "hand-digging" on the exterior, which we OK'd. However, this resulted in moving the sump pump from where there was an electric outlet immediately accessible, to where there was none and the sump pump was connected with an extension cord. When we complained, Danny had an electrician out the next day to install a new outlet at his expense. (3) We were told we would have a battery back up sump pump installed. The sump pump installed was not a battery back-up. When we contacted Danny who said they "only install battery back ups", the issue was quickly resolved and the correct sump pump was installed. (4) We were told many different things about re-installing our sidewalk and front porch. We understood completely the need for the dirt to settle as the work was so much more extensive than originally thought. However, we were told by different Aquaphor staff that this would be 2-weeks, 4-weeks, and by Danny "way before June 1st." The sidewalk was completed on May 30th. Apparently, the busy season caused this delay. This was our only major inconvenience and the difference between "A" and "B" scores on one item above. We strongly recommend this company to anyone who has water coming in their basement, because: (1) our interactions with Danny, have given us full confidence that Aquaphor will stand behind their work. (2) 100% of the crew is employed by Aquaphor - there are no subcontractors, which in our experience always leads to better work and a better timeline for work completion. (3) the fact that the crew worked all day on a Saturday and late into the weekday evenings to complete our work.
Description of Work: Corrected leak in basement wall, which included removing sidewalk and digging down to the footer to seal the outside of the basement wall, and putting in a new drainage system from the front of the house to the backyard, installing several steel posts on the inside of the basement to support the front basement wall, installed a sump pump in the basement, and replaced the sidewall across the front of the house.
