The two workers, Keith and Jason(?) showed up punctually @ 8:00 a.m. and were finished at the estimated time of 1:30 p.m. They were very clean and were concerned with customer satisfaction throughout. Even when things went a little 'awry', they remained professional. They even made sure the cat didn't escape outside!

They did the job in the allotted time, which was the rest of the day and cleaned up before leaving. I have them for service anyway so, this just follows suit. Their pricing is probably as expensive as anybody else, I'd use them again.

We had used Apollo for our furnace and A/C so when we needed a plumber in a hurry we called them as our sump pump was not working. They came out promptly and replaced our sump pump. Unfortunately the pump the service man had on the truck was cracked so he had to come back out the next day. The repair was done to our satisfaction. That evening, while outside, I heard a noise and upon checking it out saw water backing up from the drain pipe. It turns out that the drain pipe was blocked and the water was running back up.They came out the next day and tried to snake the pipe, but that did not work. Then later that week they came back with a camera and found a blockage. Each time they came out I had to take off work to wait for them to come. They gave me an estimate of $7,000 to replace the entire pipe in my yard. They wanted to hand dig the pipe to minimize damage. I declined the bid and asked for a copy of the video. I never did get a copy of the video even after calling several times. The gentleman who came out was very nice and professional, but they were too expensive to continue. We ended up using Roto Rooter to fix the pipe (see my review). They were awesome and did just what was required at a fraction of the cost.

We have an older 10 year-old furnace in a recently remodeled basement. Upon turning it on for the first time this season and the first time since we had the basement remodeled, we noticed some gas/exhaust odors that didn't seem right. We called Apollo from the phone book and scheduled a service call. My wife was the only one home when they came for the call. Within 30 minutes they told her the furnace was ruined and needed to be replaced due to the fact that the contractor who finished the basement didn't cover the furnace and that drywall dust had ruined the heat exchanger. We went ahead and had there sales guy come out and after he looked at the furnace he agreed and quoted us on two different models. Feeling skeptical I scheduled another HVAC company, Bockrath, to also do a service call. In the end the burners were very dusty and not firing properly from the drywall work. A simple 30 minute cleaning and overall system test fixed all the issues and the furnace is still running at it's max 85% efficiency even though it is 10 years old. The heat exchanger is just fine and a filter replacement has the furnace running at peak performance. I know different techs can have different opinions but I feel this company saw a worried lady with real safety concerns and tried to sell her something that wasn't needed end the end. Not very good practice in my opinion.
Description of Work: A service check on our furnace as we smelled gas/exhaust odors after turning it on for the first time this season.

I had called to have the work done - not for an estimate, yet the plumber initially wanted to schedule the work for sometime the following week. They were able to rearrange things so that he could do the work that day, which is the kind of service Apollo usually supplies. Plumber did not know how to deal with water meter or how to find out what to do, something I would expect a plumber to know. I called the water department and had them speak to the plumber. Neither the estimate nor the invoice was itemized in terms of parts vs labor, I could have bought a whole new dishwasher for what it cost to replace one waterline. I have no idea what I actually paid for. Even though the work was done that day, the initial service fee was not waived. I have always been very happy with Apollo when it came to heating and cooling, but will not recommend them nor use them again for plumbing.

The sales call was great. Cecil immediately gained my trust and I chose Apollo based on his honesty. One important fact to remember was that I was told that I would get a new thermostat, an upgrade they said - this comes into play later. When the services techs came out to do the install, things began to go downhill. First of all, they smoked in my garage. I know it was raining outside, but they smoked in my garage. My son has pretty bad asthma, so it wasn't appreciated. Second, they weren't incredibly competent in what they were doing. The end result was installed somewhat sloppily. But I get ahead of myself. They weren't even able to get the system up and running - Ricky had to come out the next day and clean up after them. (Ricky is awesome) I had a UV light installed with the system, and the installers didn't even correctly tape up the duct work to prevent the light from escaping - Ricky had to take care of that too. In the end, my system was up and running, but it took two days. It turns out that the team they sent had done very few installs on their own, hence why they couldn't get the system started up. Then the duct cleaning was scheduled. A different person came out. Now I have to admit he did a great job working with my access to the furnace (it really isn't easy to get to). However, when he put everything back together, the humidifier was leaking. Ricky to the rescue again... Then comes the really frustrating part. Remember how I mentioned that I was told the new thermostat would be an upgrade? Well, I had a high end 7 day programmable Honeywell thermostat. They installed a base model 7 day thermostat. Now, what was the major difference? Mine was smarter - if you set it for 72 degrees at 7:00am, it would learn how soon to kick on the heat pump to reach the set temperature by the given time. It did this WITHOUT kicking on the heat strips. Hence, I could set the temp lower then the recommended three degree differential at night and, since the strips were not kicked on, I would still save money. Also, it kept the house more comfortable, as the temp was were I wanted it to be when I wanted it there - I didn't have any guess work trying to figure out when I needed to set it for 72 degrees so that it actually REACHED 72 by the time I wanted it there. Now, I've contacted them several times about this. They have been completely reticent to correct their mistake; all they are willing to do is come out and mess with some settings. I have finally given up and am installing another high end honeywell myself (did I mention that they threw away my previous thermostat?). Overall, I have been happy with Apollo, but this experience will t**** my future dealings with them. Unfortunately, I have to continue to do business with them as part of my warranty... (EDITED TO ADD: I didn't cuss up there where they censored me, another way to get across what I was trying to say would be "color" or "put a damper on")

My usual HVAC company was closed and of course the heat pump had to fail on the hottest day of the year. Apollo immediately answered the phone and was able to very quickly get onsite. The tech called while on his way and showed up on time. He made quick work of resolving the issue. I would like not use Apollo again purely based on price. The total for the part/installation was $405. After doing a little research, the part itself appears to be less than $50. They offered a discount if I signed up for a maintenance care plan, reducing the price of the part/install to $344.25, plus another $198 for the maintenance care plan. I was in a crutch to find a HVAC service company being the hottest day of the year, so I didn't shop around at all. The service provided was excellent, but the price wasn't. The discounted price after the maintenance plan would have been more reasonable. At least now I'm under maintenance and hopefully issues like this can be found prior to unit failure.

It was a horrible experience overall. At first I was very impressed because the initial person they sent out was very detailed in his inspection. It then took them a very long time to get back out to us. Finally the owner came out to look at the project. It took almost a week to hear back from him and they finally let me know they would not do the project until the next year. He offered to give discount for the service next year. Even with the discount he offered their estimate was still almost twice as high as the other estimates we received. Overall bad experience. I would not recommend this company. We were trying to get the job done that year to get a tax credit and we were unable to after waiting for this company. They promised it would get done and then said they wouldn't even be able to do the job.

Dear member, I wanted to address your concerns. In review of your recent service visit. It appears you reach out to us when your system had a cooling problem. On the work order we found the system was low on refrigerant. As a new customer, we offered you a way through our Apollo Care Plan for you to save instantly 15% on the repair quoted. The total amount spent was $315.15, and it saved you 129.85 with the purchase of the gold plan which was $198. The gold plan benefits, include: priority service 24/7, no overtime rates, 15 point precision master tune up for BOTH your heating and cooling systems, along with discount diagnostic/trip charges, and 15% of all repairs. Looking at the workorder it looks like you choose the gold plan for the savings, and we believe the value is there down the road in keeping your system running factory fresh with a continual maintenance program. However, if you feel that this is something you would have not chosen, please contact us and we will be more than happy to refund all of your money. Sincere Regards, Jamie Gerdsen President/CEO

I wanted to let you know about the excellent job that Zane Pockrandt did managing our heating & cooling installation. The quality and execution of this work exceeded all of my expectations. His expertise and ?we?ll make it happen? attitude was very reassuring to my wife and I. You can count on us to be returning customers for all of our heating & cooling needs!

House built in 50's. Flange in toilet replaced (was a mess), drain in sink replaced - also old and could stand replacing. They did a good job, but it cost more than I had hoped. But it did seem reasonable given the things involved. They did the whole thing in one day. (about 8:00 to 3:00 with an hour break for lunch.) They made the sink fit, even when it was very tight. I love the way it looks and love the new sink and toilet. Drain to sanitary sewer was cleaned - did not ask for this. No charge.

It was an excellent experience for me. I handle a lot of these requests for my clients and this one was, by far, the best. I felt that I was treated with respect as he answered all of my questions throughout the services. I paid $79 for my home A/C maintenance using a coupon from Angie's List and $170 for my client's full A/C and furnace maintenance. The only glitch was his hand-held computer and printer. It did not work well for him but the next day I called Apollo and had them charge my credit card for both services. They did and immediately emailed a receipt. It felt great to have a technician with such a professional attitude and corresponding work experience. I will use Apollo again for my autumn furnace maintenance and for any other clients' maintenance.
Description of Work: I had Apollo do an annual maintenance on my A/C and complete inspection on my client's (seller's) A/C and furnace. The technician, Rob Pummill, spent over two hours examining every part of my client's A/C and furnace. As he examined them, he kept me informed of what he was finding including temperature readings and other statistics. He was extremely thorough and did not try to sell me anything extra. This was all very important to me and my client who resides in Toledo. Although neither of us expected any problems with the equipment, Rob confirmed that the equipment was in great shape. When he was finished with my client's home, he and I drove to my home. It was later in the day and Rob asked if I wanted to reschedule. I told him that I had expected it to be later at my home and to please go ahead and give my A/C its annual maintenance. Rob Pummill checked out all of my equipment and explained to me some of the more detailed aspects (temperature differences, etc.). He also check my humidifier that I had not turned off and shut it down for me. He described to me how the furnace and A/C worked together and changed my filter.

Received calls from Carl of Appolo soliciting servicing of hvac system. Decided to have it done and scheduled appt. for between 8-10 am 7/6/11. Received a call at 7:50 that morning that the tech would be here in 20-30 minutes. At about 8:50 I called to see what was going on as no one was there. I was told that Tyler should be here, The person I was speaking with who didn't identify himself when he answered the phone said he would contact the tech and call me right back. After waiting for about 20 minutes for that "I'll call you right back" I finally called and said I was canceling the appt..The response, "I'll notify the service department." end of conversation. No sorry, no apology, no what can we do to right this mess etc. It all screamed of incompetence and unprofessioanlism. If I am not mistaken there were similar incidences in the Angie's list reports.

Dear Member, I would first like to personally apologize for any inconvenience and miscommunication that we caused you regarding your scheduled appointment. As owner of the company, providing great customer service is one of our core tenets of doing business and something that we focus on every day. On a daily basis, we run 120+ service calls and it is important that we meet the needs of our customers while being on-time and in good communication with them – prior, during, and after each and every service call. I personally looked into your situation and have discovered that our scheduling center was correct in their initial indication that the technician should have been there within 20-30 minutes of when they called. The service truck that was driven by Tyler had a mechanical glitch on the way to your location causing the delay. Our technician was trying to resolve the issue, but failed to communicate in a timely manner back to our scheduling center of the truck’s problem. When you called later that morning, the scheduling center was unaware of the technician’s situation. However, they did miss the boat and should have apologized and tried to reschedule your service call with another truck later that day or at another convenient time for yourself. We would like to earn your business back and I would like to offer you a complimentary Apollo Silver Care Plan. This plan includes 2 precision master tunes up (one for the ac and one for the furnace) In addition, we will provide you with a complimentary 1 year supply of filters for your home. Once again, we pride ourselves on great customer service. I apologize for this unfortunate experience and would like an opportunity to earn your business back. Sincerely, Jamie Gerdsen President Apollo Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing

Tech on-site 3 hours after initial call and exactly when promised. Dispatcher called 20 minutes ahead as promised. Tech thoroughly inspected everything and listened intently to the history of past issues. He replaced the main part needed under warranty (previously installed by them) of his own accord. Explained future recommended maintenance/repairs and when I indicated I could not afford to do it now offered tips to keep system running as long as possible without pushing for more immediate work. This is my 3rd or 4th dealing with this company and they have always been extremely friendly, professional, and punctual.

Good communication. Pricing seemed very fair. Offered product/service/guarantee match other offers. Had they followed up with air flow testing, its quite possible I might have chosen them. It was that close.
Description of Work: I was in the market for replacement of my air conditioning and furnace. Apollo made it to my "one of two" top two contractors. I had eight visit my home. The rep was polite and responsive and answered MANY of my emails with questions. Their pricing was very competitive with other quotes I received. In the end, I opted to go with another provider because I had one concern about air flow with my current system and how it would be addressed in the new system. I asked about air flow testing pre and post installation and even asked what the cost would be if I payed out of pocket to get said testing done. At this point, the contact became sporadic and what had been timely responses became much longer. In the end, due to the fact I could not pin down an answer dealing with my cold air return questions/answers I eventually ran out of time (my AC was shot and not even kicking on anymore) to chase down the answer and went with another contractor. I intentionally didn't put my cost down as each home is different and you need to compare multiple estimates in regard to your own home. Apollo wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive. The were mid pack.

I would have bought a new unit I did not need from Apollo. They seem to be quick to sell you something rather than repair. This incident is similar to what happened with an Apollo installed boiler years ago. On the positive side they have done good work for me in the past with a major renovation project. Update: I contacted Apollo. They acknowledged their mistake by sending a refund of $149.
Description of Work: An 11 yr. old central air conditioner was not cooling. The technician worked a long time on it and couldn't get it repaired, indicating I needed a new unit. A salesperson came and gave estimate of $4100 for new unit. Unable to afford that I called another company (Another Heating and Cooling). They gave me a much lower estimate for replacement but Tim B. the owner said he wanted his technician to check it out before installing a new one since it is unusual for a central air to go out so soon. His technicians came, cleaned out dirty coils and the unit is running just fine.
