We keep an annual service so they just sent me a renewal . I have got an appointment with them to do the air conditioning here in the next 2 or 3 weeks. I have used them ever since we bought the house because they are the ones that put the furnace in. I don't particularly like anything in general. I guess the fact that they are the ones that installed it and would cover it as far as the warranty would be concerned.
Description of Work: They cleaned the furnace, serviced it and made sure that it was operational.

I was told that they now offer "service plans" with a recurring monthly fee instead of standard tune-ups. I was quoted $9.95 per month, and that this would include a tune-up of my AC system now (May) and a tune-up of my heat system in the fall / winter. I confirmed with the person that I spoke to on the phone that this price was valid even though I had a somewhat more complex system with a "unico" air conditioning system and a hot-water boiler heat system. Based on this information, I scheduled an appointment. I called to confirm my appointment a few days before they were supposed to arrive, and was put on hold for a while, and then was told that my price would actually be $27 per month. I declined and said I would take my business elsewhere. The next day, an Apollo representative called me back and said that they had researched my case, and agreed to honor their original price quote ($9.95 / month). Given my previous (positive) experience with the company, I agreed to proceed with the service plan and tune-up. The actual tune-up went very smoothly, and the technician ("Andrew") was very professional and competent.
Description of Work: I tried to schedule a simple tune-up off my AC system that Apollo had installed in 2001. They had been servicing the unit every 1 or 2 years since it was installed.

I was not happy with them. I felt like they didn't warn me of some things and I ended up having problems with my furnace and that is why I ended up having another one last November. I replaced a furnace that was only six years old. I needed to have changed my old air conditioning unit and they did not tell me. It dripped down inside my furnace and kept blowing out my circuit board and my furnace and the warranty was out on the furnace. That is why I had a whole new furnace put in back in November.
Description of Work: They put my first furnace in.

Hi (removed member name), I want to thank you for the review as Apollo is always striving to learn how to serve our customers better. I do apologize for the frustration you have experienced with your equipment failures. It does seem with the time in between replacement that the original install was done while the A/C unit was operating under normal conditions. We do appreciate your business and would like to be the go to company for all of your home service needs. Please call us at 513-271-3600 if you shall need any help in the future.

Very quick to respond, pleasant and professional. They completed the job in a clean and timely manner. After the fact we looked up the pricing for the pieces that they said we *had to replace* --I am still unsure if we actually needed them, but I am definitely sure that they up charged us pricing by 10 times (eg $150 pieces were $12 at home depot). learned our lesson to do more research next time.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your thoughts. We understand that when looking at a raw part cost the final investment for completed repairs can sometimes seem alarming. The guaranteed, up-front price we provide for our services does include the warranty, time, insurance, over 100 hours of annual training, keeping trucks fully stocked, and the availability to visit see you quickly in the event of an emergency that is often within just a few hours regardless of the time or day of the call. There is a great deal more than just raw part cost that comes into sending a qualified and able serviceman to your home but always want to ensure your experience with us is an exception one. Please contact us at your convenience and we'll be happy to see if we can be of some additional assistance. I'll also send you a private message that you're welcome to contact us via. The customer service follow up is terrible the manager Jesse in customer Care, is the worse. we agreed to a once a month plan..we were told we could cancel at any time, now its no you can because you used discounts, first on our gas furnace we do not have a gas furnace..but she kept saying we did. She told us we got the humidifier free also more than once. So I asked her why did we pay at the time of inspection, "my bad, he must of noticed you were not supposed to get the humidifier included and you asked him to check it" WRONG. We did ask the price of filters for the furnace - they did not have with them and they $77 each..went to Roecker and Berger, they were $38 each, she said it was the difference between Abercrombie and Walmart. I am waiting for another manager to call me, but other than free warranty items that must be deal with we will NEVER work with Apollo again.
Description of Work: Had a sump pump put in in December and they did good so we signed up for a monthly home plumbing program, based on the fact we could cancel at any time Came and inspected furnace and humidifier, told us the humidifier was free they charged us for the humidifier

Had sewer line back up November- had line snaked and then had camera work done. Told that sewer line was a little bowed and technician had a hard time seeing due to water in line. I was told about jet cleaning the line ($1600) -told it would solve problem. On 11/20, technicians showed up to do jet cleaning which should have consisted of several passes with different "heads" on line. After not even one "pass" and accidently drenching my basement (due to leaving line out of sewer and turning machine on), more camera work was done and I was told that the line was bowed and needed to have a sleeving procedure done that was about $6,000 but would definately fix problem. I authorized that and the day they came to do it, after more camera work, I was told that the line was too bowed and the line needed to be replaced. I was assured that they would get me an estimate soon after talking with county officials. After a week and a few phone calls, I recieved an email assuring me that they would be getting back to me. I have left messages for the person supposedly working on the estimate and never get called back. Now after almost 4 months of waiting and receiveing no contact- I am done waiting. I cancelled my maintenance plan with Apollo. Here is the thing about Apollo. Thier work is excellent but they are always way overpriced. I even had one of thier technicians admit that to me after pointing out the quality of thier work. I think the big issue is I SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED THAT THE ESTIMATE BE ITEMIZED. Normally, the estimates Apollo gives just list what they are going to fix and the cost. I have never seen an itemized estimate or work order from them. I am left thinking that is why they never got back to me. They like just charging whatever they think they can squeeze out of you. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Description of Work: Supposed to jet clean sewer line which they did not complete. Still got charged the 1600

I'm terribly sorry to here about all the problems with the sewer line and especially sorry to hear about the fact that we didn't get back to you in time with the itemized list of work to be performed. Regarding the process, usually Hydro Jetting the line will fix the issue, but occasionally, there are other issues that caused the blockage that a jet just won't fix. This unfortunately was one of those times. That's why we always apply anything you pay for jetting towards a long term solution when we run into it. As for the higher price, I can't say what other companies do, but as our technician said, we do everything we can to provide the highest quality work. I know it wasn't the solution this time, but we actually own our jetting equipment so we can insure that it's work the best it can, rather than renting equipment that often isn't maintained well or powerful enough to cut through roots or heavy debris. At the end of the day, we'd rather apologize one time for a higher price than keep coming back apologizing over and over again for poor quality products and services. I hope you'll give us another chance should you ever need anything again. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you. Thank you, Apollo Home

On Feb. 19, I came home from work to discover our 12-year-old furnace had gone kaput. I called Apollo, who said they would be able to have a technician come out later that night and promised to call 30 minutes ahead of time. That gave us enough time to get somewhere warm and wait for the call - and they did call 30 minutes out and arrived at our house with the half hour. The tech arrived at our house about three hours after I called, which seemed reasonable to me. He diagnosed a bad motor in the furnace. The warehouse that had the part was not open, so Apollo scheduled a time for the following day (Feb. 20) for a tech to come out. The next day, as promised, we received a call from Apollo 30 minutes ahead of their arrival time, so had plenty of time to arrive without the need to stay in an increasingly cold house. The tech arrived with a new motor, which didn't work, so he left to get another new motor. Luckily, this one seemed to do the trick. He also replaced the capacitor at no charge. We enjoyed a lovely few days of heat, only to wake up on Tuesday morning to a furnace that was, once again, not working. I called Apollo at 7am and left a message on their on-call service. At 8am, they called back promised a tech would be out between 9-9:30am. At 8:30am, I received a call saying the tech was on his way and he arrived at my house at 9am on the nose. He diagnosed a faulty pressure valve, and replaced it. However, the furnace's pilot light would go out every time he put the door back on. That tech then called in two senior techs to look at the furnace, as he couldn't figure out what was wrong. The two senior techs arrived about an hour later and proceeded to spend the next four hours trying to figure out what was wrong with our furnace. Eventually, they figured out it the heating element was dying. In most cases, if the heating element is failing, the furnace is dead. With ours, the furnace still worked intermittently, which is atypical. We were told we could replace the heating element for $2,000, but with a 12-year-old furnace, that was taking a gamble, as it was getting up in years. It felt like being told your trusty old car just lost its transmission ... .so your choice is a new car or a new transmission, knowing other bits of the car will fail sooner or later. To us, it seemed better to pay for a new furnace, rather than sink $2,000 into a furnace we'd still likely have to replace in it the next three to five years. And, since we would be spending about $4,500 on a new furnace, we decided to replace our vintage air conditioning unit as well. When we bought the house in 2012, we knew the a/c would likely need to be replaced sooner rather than later, as the unit itself was at least 25 years old and starting to rust through. Dave, the Apollo salesperson, came to our house Tuesday night and laid out all of our options, from base to high-end models and their respective costs. He was knowledgeable and completely open to our questions and concerns. There was no pressure to choose one model or the other. He also discussed payment options with us, which was helpful. We chose what we thought would work best (a step above the base models) and he wrote up an estimate for us. He also included a $500 credit for the repairs we had already paid for before the heating element was diagnosed. The installation date was set for this past Monday (March 2), and we were told that two installation teams would be out (one for furnace, one for a/c) between 7 and 7:30am, along with Dave, the salesperson. Dave and the furnace installer (Ernie) both arrived a little bit after 7am. Ray, the A/C installer arrived by 7:30am. They ran into a few small problems (old duct work, etc.), but solved all of them and were finished with the installation of both units by 3:30pm. They even left a bag of mulch for us to put around the a/c unit in the spring. All in all, we had four repair techs, a sales person, and two teams of installers from Apollo at our house over the last week. Every single one of them was professional, courteous, and thorough in their explanations. Each one went above and beyond to make sure we understood what was going on and offered us several options without pressuring us to choose. We were very happy with our experience, though it had its rocky spots because our old furnace was, apparently, weird. I'd be happy to recommend Apollo to anyone looking for HVAC repair or installation.
Description of Work: They fixed our furnace, then fixed it again, then replaced it and installed a new a/c unit.

So here is the story. We started smelling gas in the front yard intermittently, mainly when it was colder out. So we called Duke Energy and they came out and used their detectors and found that the furnace was leaking gas. It wasn't leaking into the house but was going up the vent - up and out, hence the smell outside and none inside. The Duke tech thought that it might be inefficent burn or something like that but was mostly non-committal. He shut off the gas, right at the valve inside the house. We called Apollo and they promptly came out and inspected. We told him the whole story, as above, before and after they came. The tech said that it might be due to inefficent burning and that he could take the heater element out to his truck and clean it, and that would be $213 with the call fee of $89 waived. He did state that this might not fix the issue, and that it was a risk and that he thought that the money was better spent on getting a new furnace considering that this was over $20 years old. We agreed but at the same time thought was that if we could get it working for a cleaning cost, and not have to do an emergency replacement, and do it in the spring when we would have more options, so we took the gamble to do the cleaning. The Apollo tech did then do the cleaning and resassembled the furnace. He did not turn on the gas and test -- but indicated we needed to call Duke to do that.. So we called Duke and when they came the Duke tech was quite shocked and alarmed and even almost angry that Apollo had not turned back on the gas and tested. He said that they should have done that, and have full authority to do that. He stated that THEY --- HVAC companies are supposed to the professional experts and should have the tools to test and verify that all was working. He then proceed to turn the gas back on and tested. He found that it was still leaking gas as well as carbon monoxide, although it was still venting outside. But the main thing that he observed and told us was that looking at the flame you can tell that there is something wrong with the way it burns. With a normal flame, with proper airflow, the flame will rise upward. On ours some of the the flame was 'rolling' indicating improper airflow and burn. Summary: Apollo responded to us promptly and did the cleaning promptly and warned us that the cleaning might not rectify the problem and we told him that we understood and to go ahead with the cleaning we would accept the risk of no fix and $200 was worth the gamble for a potential of not having to spend upwards of $5000 right now, possibly obstruction above. We lost that gamble but have no qualms about that -- That part was all fine and would have gotten a good grade. What we are grading the D on is the fact that the Apollo tech should have turned on the gas and tested for leaks after his work. Additionally, that the Apollo tech didn't bother to do this, quite possibly lost his company the sale of a new Furnace, since we would have known right then that it didn't work and moved on to plan B - replacement. Instead we lost all trust in Apollo. Would you trust them?

Here is how it all startedMy HVAC is old so I was thinking of replacing and thought before that will make sure if there is anything wrong as its 100% working for years without any problem. I called Apollo as they were listed on angie's list. Initially they said there is no appointment available, then I mentioned I might replace the HVAC if technician finds anything wrong. Then they put me on hold and said ok they have one cancellation so will a technician and also send a salesman and give you the quote to replace HVAC. This was first indication they were interested in selling the new HVAC that I didn't understand, I agreed to pay $110 to just check and be stupid to be told I need brand new HVAC. Anyway, the guy came check everything for 10 mins and said two capacitors are weak (one in the heat pump and other in the hvac unit ) that would cost $600+ to replace so suggest to replace the whole HVAC instead as it's old. But he said rest of the things are working fine so next in line is saleman.. I decided not to replace as its all working fine, then one day I went to basement and saw 4-5 screws lying on the floor they were obviously not tighten so I thought this could be just human error and I tighten those to HVAC unit. After that I got my utility bill that was way high so I called Duke energy for energy assessment and they found very obvious problem that I was always on AUX heating and heat pump isn't working!! Nobody touched the heatpump other than Apollo. I called them and they said its about a 3 weeks so they are not liable if something went wrong but they did one good thing that they will send a technician and if it's poor connection then they will fix it otherwise I have to pay, which sounded reasonable so I agreed. They sent technician yesterday who said there is nothing wrong with heatpump but seems he is not getting 24V input, so he tried something in thermostat with jumping wires and pushed a button in the HVAC unit finally said he is not sure but found the problem so will send someone to fix next day, I was happy that he found the problem and also it's being close to new year gifted him champagne bottle. After less than an hour I realized temperature dropped to 64 from 69 and went to basement as there was no air coming from register. The basement HVAC was silent!! I called them again that my AUX is also not working now, they sent one more technician who said probably my transformer is bad as he was not getting 24V and he didn't have extra so will send someone next day. I have 7 month old infant at home so had to buy emergency room heater for that night. Next day I got the right person, Rob was very much knowledgeable, he found and fixed the problem rightly, he said the fuse i HVAC is gone ( that is what was pushed by 2nd technician probably thinking it's some switch or he did some wrong connection in thermostat as everything was working for AUX just before he came!) Heat pump problem was related to loose wire connection!! This also indicates first tech didn't do proper job who just wanted to sell new HVAC, he also left the screws on the floor that Rob tighten properly! I would be filing the complaint in BBB too for the refund of $110 and extra utility bill I had to pay due to poor\no connection to fan that caused HVAC run on aux for 3 weeks!! I would though give full marks to Rob and prompt response to complain and request to send a person like him who is experienced and knows what he is doing next time.
Description of Work: Verify and confirm if my perfectly working old HVAC needs replacement or not, charged $110 to say my working unit needs replacement and didn't connect the wire properly and blew the fuse.

The technician was very knowledgable and made good recommendations for our 15 year old heating and AC system.I had a question on the humidifier on the furnace about 10 days later and the techician called me back and answered my question. The techician came out on Saturday, which is very important to us since we work and did not have to time off work. The only negative was that our first appointment should have been on November 13th. They had to reschedule to December 15th because they were busier than expected do to colder weather.

I have a Gold Plan with Apollo to cover annual maintenance for Heating/Cooling and Plumbing. I have been overall happy with their HVAC and maintenance services but I can't really say the same for their Plumbing. The pricing is absurd! I called Apollo on 12/29 because our main line drain began overflowing late on 12/28. In looking around because of this clog, I had also noticed that my sump pump didn't seem to be working either. Apollo was very quick to handle the call and dispatch a technician the same day. They were unable to arrive during the originally scheduled time (12-3pm) but they did a great job communicating this fact up front so I was not upset at all. When the technician arrived, he looked at the main line drain but could not determine exactly what was going on, but clearly it was clogged. He quoted $350 to do a full "machined" clean-out of the drain but stated this may not completely fix it. The other option was to wait for a Camera Technician who could identify the precise cost of the clog; this option would be slightly less expensive. He also explained that the Camera Tech would come out for free following the "machined" clean-out anyway, so I opted to have the technician that was currently in my home fix it on the spot. Unfortunately, the machine did not fully fix the issue so I'm waiting on the Camera Tech who is not available today (as was promised) so it is now TBD on how much more I will need to pay to have my main line cleared. The technician also looked at the sump pump and confirmed my suspicion that the main sump pump had failed. He also stated that the back up pump was a "ball of rust" and wouldn't work at full capacity. The quote to replace the full system was $1,650 which seemed really high to me, despite the fact that they were replacing with high-quality parts (Zoeller). I asked for a break-out of the costs between parts and labor but neither the technician nor the Apollo office were able to provide this; the office stated that this was to my benefit because it ensured that the quoted price included all labor, even if the job could not be done all in one visit. I spoke to two different friends who recently had sump pumps replaced and one paid $400 and the other paid $600 (the latter has used the same Zoeller parts), but neither had the back-up system installed so not an exact apples to apples comparison; a third bought the Zoeller part for $300 and installed himself). The Apollo technician was nervous that my finished basement would flood if we did not replace the pump right away so, despite my gut instinct on the high cost, I went ahead and had that done. The very next day, I called several plumbers for "rough" quotes and not one has come close to the $1,650 that I paid to Apollo...and that $1,650 is supposedly a "discount" to me because I am a Gold Plan member. Given that the whole job took a little over an hour (max) and that the closest quote is $500 less for the same work, I definitely cannot say I am happy or that I would recommend Apollo Plumbing to my friends:(

I have tried to scheduled two appointments in less than a week. Both of the appointments have been cancelled by Apollo. The first day was cancelled due to the techinician calling in sick. I was called one hour prior to the three hour arrival window they gave me. I understood the need to cancel and decided to reschedule at a later date. For the second schediled appointment, I once again was given a three hour arrival window. I received no notice from Apollo until 30 minutes AFTER the three hour arrival window. I SCHEDULED TIME OFF WORK AND WAITED FOR 3 1/2 HOURS FOR THEM TO SHOW UP!! They cancelled yet again becuase they were too busy. I declined rescheduling for the third time. Apollo showed a total lack of consideration for my time. I do not recommend them to anyone!

[Member's name removed] Please accept our apologies for the difficulty in scheduling. Your oil furnace is a specialty unit and can present some unique scheduling challenges getting just the right technician there as we balance performing both maintenance and emergency service visits. Our technicians are trained to finish each job the first time & occasionally this takes longer than expected. We do our best to update our customers as soon as we know an appointment will be affected. We are disappointed that that your appointment was rescheduled not just once but twice; if you would call us we would be happy to try to make this right. The team at Apollo

I've used Apollo for several services, and have always had a knowledgeable professional come out to assist me. My first service with them involved a Water Heater Repair/Maintenance. They fixed a clogged drain valve and did a general tune up for $240 total. I was so impressed by their professionalism. John was there on time, cleaned up after his work, explained everything he did thoroughly, and answered all of my questions (and I tend to ask a lot!). From there, I signed up for their Gold Care Maintenance Plan that covers annual maintenance on my Heating/Cooling/Plumbing. Second visit was for an annual Heating and Air Conditioner tune up. Both these services cost me no extra money under the plan. They also did not try to sell in any additional costing services to me - I appreciate the no fuss approach! Honest to goodness great service! The guys that came out to help were just as attentive to doing and explaining the work, even though I was charged no additional fees that day. If only all service companies could have their approach! Third visit involved an estimate for bathroom vents and ceiling fans. I really appreciated that Jason allowed me to ask all of my questions and really sat down to parse out the costs so I could find a solution within my budget. The estimate came in at a very reasonable price and I intend to hire them for this job soon! For all of the above services, my favorite part is that Apollo also sends you their service receipts and appointment confirmations over email. As a person who organizes digitally, this is such a great asset. I appreciate the modern organization tools to help them and me keep track.

So I have used Apollo for years for my heating and air conditioning--they're great for that stuff--especially if you have an older home. So I called them to use their new plumbing service. They tried to charge me $706.00 to fix a float that doesn't float anymore in a toilet and to replace a pop-up lever, the thing that makes the drain stopper go up and down, in a bathroom sink. I could buy a whole entire new sink and toilet and get them installed by another plumber for less. The toilet is broken and I need it to work so I am paying their outrageous price for the toilet fix since they are here...but I will be calling someone else for plumbing in the future.

I apologized for the mix up and frustration with the quote you received. Admittedly after reading thru this I can see that it was not written as clearly as it could be. The pop-up assembly certainly would not have cost $700, There was additional work quoted that the technician recommended including replacing all the piping and the trap under the sink, the supply lines and the emergency shut offs to the sink. It basically was everything but the bathroom sink. Again, I'm very sorry for the confusion on this. If you need anything else, please don't hesitate to let us know so we can take care of it right away. Thank you, Apollo Home

The person that came out with the camera said that they saw a lot of issues. Within an hour, they had us a $30,000 quote. They do their own financing. They said we needed to have it repaired immediately which was not the case. I told them to go away. It was kind of insulting so I will never use them again. I found another provider that fixed everything for $800. They should not try to rip off their customers.
Description of Work: I had a sewer clog and they repaired it but came a couple of days later. I paid $400 for the emergency service and they came back to run the camera down.

We apologize if there was any concern with the service or the quote. Unfortunately we're not able to pull up any service at the address or by the name provided in the review. We'd love to be able to resolve this. Can you please clarify the name and address where the service was provided? Thank you, Apollo Home

I'm on a one-year Gold Plan so it's prepaid. It was good but I think I might switch to a different provider because I don't care for their air conditioning service. As far as I know, I think their pricing is fair. I wouldn't rule out going to them again but I want to try a different provider next year.
Description of Work: They last came out and serviced the boiler. It's an annual service where they check the sediments.
