The provider was very knowledgeable & very pleasant. But, he did not follow my instructions. I met with him in the beginning at his studio & asked that he call me after he had copied the film into the computer so that I could come to his studio & title the scenes in the DVD & edit out any dark scenes in the DVD. He agreed that he would call me after the film was copied into the computer & I could come to his studio to title the scenes & edit out the dark scenes. But, he did not call me. He did it all himself. He titled the scenes according to old labels on the film reels which were inaccurate & he did not delete the dark scenes.

They did it in just a few days - far faster than the 30 days promised by CVS or Walgreen's. They somehow got all the tapes in order and even dated the dvds, so we could watch our family movies in order.

I selected them based on some reviews on Angies list. I also called around to some other companies first and he was more affordable. He charges $18 per VHS or Beta tape. If you have 10 or more he is only $15 per tape. This was a very good price compared to other places i called. The owner has only has office hours on Saturday. I dropped 10 VHS tapes off on one Saturday and picked them up the following Saturday. All was done to my satisfaction and he was a very professional and accommodating person to work with. He even let me use a spare VHS player to identify the content on a couple tapes since the labels had fallen off (15 years old). Overall excellent work and plan to use him to convert remaining 20+ VHS and Beta tapes.

Chris did a nice job. Price was reasonable and the job was done on time. I found one of the DVD transfers to be defective. I returned the original VCR and Chris made the retransfer for me while I waited. Chris seems to be very knowledgible. I had a good experience.

He stated that the job would be completed at the specified time which was correct. I had no issues with the quality of the copies and would use him again.

Chris Heather was pleasant and informative over the phone. He told me what the price would be, and I decided to go ahead and have it done. I made the trip to his place the same day, and the DVDs were ready for pick-up the following day. I had 4 video tapes and wanted 3 DVDs for each tape. All but one set came out fine, and I believe the set which did not come out well (a/v out of sync) was due to a malfunction of the video tape. I have sent the tape to Chris to have him check it, and if the tape is fine, he will make me 3 new DVDs. The price seems high, but it was competitive with other places, and is it worth it to preserve the home movies to DVD? Yes, definitely. Chris was easy to deal with, and I expect to use his services again.

My experience with Chris at American Video was just wonderful. In addition to his professionalism, you definitely can see that he has done this many times before. From showing you how to organize your films, to making suggestions on how to edit it, to getting the job done before the stated deadline, Chris understood how important this home films were to me and did a fabulous job. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who has heirloom films that they want preserved. Chris takes great pride in his work.

Walked in off the street unannounced. Was greeted very kindly and friendly by Chris the owner. Reviewed the 8mm film rolls that I wanted to have transferred to DVDs for family keepsakes. Chris inspected each roll and then quoted the project;not a ballpark quote but an actual quote. I needed to touch base with my family for the final go-ahead so I didn't initiate any work at this time. After discussing the quote with my family, a few questions arose about deliverables. I then emailed Chris concerning my family's outstanding issues. He quickly and thoroughly replied with all the answers. Again I discussed the details with my family. Finally got the go-ahead from my family. Called Chris on the phone to set up an appointment to hand the films off to be transferred. Initially he said due to his schedule it might take about a week to complete the tranferring. Lo and behold, two days later he called and said the DVDs were done. The quality of DVDs are exceptional.
