All About Tile

**Update 2** Just noticed the Provider Response and wanted to comment. The grout I purchased was exactly the grout I was asked to buy by Dan the installer. He told me exactly where to go and the brand to buy. I do not appreciate it being used as an excuse for poor work when it is what I was told to buy. Their response also makes it appear I am being overly picky about quality. However, when they came back out to fix the poorly done spots, they told my wife that they were sorry and agreed it looked like the work was done by someone that had never done a backsplash before (their words). I downgraded their professionalism to C. **Update 1** I had to have them come back out and fix some spots around the electrical outlets, and, when they heard I was not completely satisfied with the work, offered to repair some of the spots that did not look good. I've upgraded the rating to a B for quality and A for professionalism. **Original Post** Overall the installer (Dan) was nice and pretty responsive. He came out the weekend after I called for the quote which was nice. He installed the backsplash in a day. However, there wasn't a lot of attention to detail. Several of the tiles that had to be cut were not cut strait (looked almost like chips). There was grout all over the granite countertops afterwards. The grout in the corners of the backsplash by the walls was pretty sloppy. Several of the rows were not straight. The backsplash looks nice from a distance, but if you spend any time looking at details you can see it looks hastily done. The price was good though; so if you're looking for a cheaper alternative then this might be a good option. If you're looking for someone to do your backsplash in a $30K kitchen, then I would go elsewhere.

Thankfully, Tom and his assistant Mike knew exactly what they were doing and took great care of us! Tom and Mike were all-stars throughout the whole project. With a 90 year old home, you never know what you are going to find once you open up the walls but from the beginning I had absolutely faith that whatever we encountered, Tom would be able to handle it. He really went above and beyond. He was great with answering all of my questions (of which I had many!) and was always easy to get in touch with if I needed to speak with him when he wasn’t at the house. His attention to detail was outstanding. From planning out the tile layout before he laid it so that there weren’t any strange cuts to exactly lining up the grout lines for tile that wasn’t perfectly square so that everything looked even, the finished product is beautiful! He was so great about bearing with me as I changed my mind or came up with new ideas—always doing his best to make it happen. I would without question use Tom again for other projects in the house and have already recommended him to both friends and neighbors. He is fair, trustworthy, and extremely hardworking and if you can book him for a project I would say DO IT without any hesitation! :)

All About Tile - is an outstanding company. Gavin, one of the owners, and his associates (Tyler and Paul) completed our remodeling project with skill and precision. The finished outcome well exceeded our expectations. Gavin of All About Tile completely gutted a hall bath and a master bathroom. They removed everything; flooring, tile, drywall, old tub, mirrors, shower fixtures, bath fixtures, vanity and sink, lighting, exhaust fan and more. In our master bath, Gavin reconfigured the master bath, which included rerouting plumbing. It involved changing two separate areas into one large area with a freestanding tub and separate shower, double vanity and new tile floor and tile shower area. The transformation of this space is AMAZING! Additionally, Gavin paid attention to the little details of the project ~ granite around the shower enclosure, granite window seals, can lighting with a dimmer switch. The creative way he installed the tile work is wonderful. With Gavin’s skill and knowledge in the field, he was able to offer suggestions that were extremely valuable and aided in the overall look of the finished project. Gavin and his team were professional and they arrived on the days they said they would be at our home. They were respectful of our premises and cleaned up after the completion of their work each day. The project was completed in a timely manner. We could not have asked for a smoother run project and the finished product is GORGEGOUS! We have beautiful new bathrooms in our home thanks to All About Tile!!!!

Tom initially came out to look at the job. He gave us his advice on what he would do. We had some major water damage in the past to the subfloor in our kitchen and he suggested that we needed to pull out the cabinets and relay all subfloor at least 3 feet out from the wall. Tom then stated that he would write us up a quote and bring his brother back out with him as he is the one who runs the kitchen remodels. 2 days later, Tom brought his brother Dan out with him and provided us with the quote. Tom and Dan were very nice, and seemed to be fine with taking on this type of job. Their quote was slightly above other quotes but they stated that they could start the job in 2 weeks and seemed pretty thorough. We were planning on going with them and called them back 3 days later with additional questions. Other contractors that we had contacted suggested we pull out the whole floor since the original subfloor was pretty crappy. So we called to ask about the additional cost of just having it all pulled out and to see what their opinion was. Dan called and spoke with my husband and he stated that he wanted to touch base with his brother about this and would call us back. About 8 hours later, we got a call from Tom. He left a message stating that his brother doesn't feel comfortable doing the job anymore. Something about Dan having back issues and he wants to stick to bathroom remodeling. With that being said, if you are interested in kitchen work DO NOT CALL them. We felt like it was very unprofessional and a waste of our time for them to go through this whole process and then turn down the work. We had other contractors we had already told no and it did nothing but set us back again. Really wish this would have been handled differently and they would have just told us they could not help us out right up front. Would have saved us a big headache.

Rick Gibbs was absolutely great. His work was excellent and we love the finished floor. We were thrilled that he was able to schedule us in within a few weeks of providing our quote. He was on time, he cleaned up after each day, he always explained what was going on; in other words he was a complete professional. The price was great, the work was superb and we will use All About Tile for any future projects.

Gavin Moore did a great job for us from the beginning to the end of the job. Gavin was professional, courteous, flexible and easy to deal with. He did the whole job ,tile, electrical, and plumbing . Which was nice because we did'nt have to deal with multiple contractors. He provided excellent suggestions about the design and layout of our tile without being pushy. I would definitely use him again and would not hesitate to recommend his services to others.

Gavin did an excellent job. He tore out our old stuff and put in a new tub, toilet,sink/vanity, and tile for the shower and floor. He also fixed our bathroom fan and put in an electrical outlet. He worked very hard and had the job completed in 4 days. He was great to work with, and he took the time to show us everything they were doing. He also made sure to clean up everyday when they were finished. I would recommend Gavin to anyone looking for bathroom or any other remodeling work.

Rick Gibb at All About Tile is a true craftsman. We have a 1935 tile bathroom whose wall and floor were cut open for a plumbing repair. Rick recreated a section of tile border in the floor. He also had to build a backing surface in the wall opening and install the wall and base cove tile. The latter had to be cut down to size. We're really pleased with the results, which matches very well. Throughout the entire process, Rick listened to our concerns and kept us informed of scheduling. We'd be glad to employ him again.

The job went very well, we are very pleased. We had complete confidence in working with Tom, Gavin and the rest of the crew. They were very professional and got the job done on time. It's very obvious they take pride in their work and craftsmanship and it shows. We loved that Tom and his crew could do all aspects of the job from plumbing, replacing subfloor and drywall, tiling, re-wiring electric. It made this big project so much easier. We plan to have them back in two years to re-do our kitchen. After seeing how well the bathrooms turned out we can't wait to see what our kitchen would look like! Tom was very easy to get in contact with and stayed in constant contact through the entire 3 weeks, which we loved. Even when we couldn't be there I felt like we were able to stay connected to the project.

This work was performed at a home I rent out. The linoleum floor had a tear in it so I decided to get quotes to have tile installed as it is more durable, looks nicer and add resale value. I had considered doing the job myself after I had received a few quotes. After I prepped the floor, purchased the tile, grout and cement board Gavin called to check on the job. He met me at the house and looked everything over. He suggested I replace the tile in front of the fireplace as well, as it was dated. After seeing I had completed all the prep work he provided another quote more in line with my budget. Gavin and his son arrived on Saturday and began the installation. They installed the cement board in the kitchen and laid most of the tile. I could not be at the house on Sunday due to a family commitment so they let themselves in via a lockbox and completed all of the work. On Monday they came back at the agreed upon time and sealed the grout. They also sealed the grout in both of the bathrooms, at my request. Everything went very well and I would use them again. It saved me a lot of times as I had other things to do to finished prepping the house.

We can't say enough about All About Tile. They are capable of handling all aspects of the job from laying tile to plumbing and carpentry (and lots more). They clean up every day, have good ideas and are fun to be with!

It could not have gone better for such a major project. Tom and Dan are true craftsmen. They took my 1988 salmon marble and gold shower trimmed nightmare of a bathroom into a cottage style hotel worthy masterpiece. They were in my home for approximately one month and were wonderful to have around. They were punctual and if they were running behind let me know right away. Communication was constant and when there were any questions Tom was quick to ask and get them cleared up immediately if there were any concerns. Tom always had suggestions on how to make something look better or work better, so it was nice to know he was truly invested in the process as well. Tom and Dan are perfectionists and several occasions were not happy with the quality of materials that were provided so they took them back and got new ones that they were happy with - I believe that other contractors would have just slapped the tile or marble up there and been done with it. One such example was the marble top for my vanity - it had a slight crack two times and both times they took it back to be fixed and finally had the tile shop make me an entirely new top without adding any time to the project. Kind of unheard of in this day and age of crappy customer service! They included me in every step and made sure I was happy with everything that was being done. The quality of work is very important to them and it shows in my new bathroom. They were exceeding neat and cleaned up every day - my house didn't even look like it was being renovated, they took care of it. Bottom line is that I have 2 other bathrooms that need to be done and I wouldn't even think about calling anyone else to do this work. Quality, professionalism, price - you can't beat it! Thanks so much Tom and Dan - we love our bathroom!

The quality of work was pretty good. I thought heir price was very reasonable. just some of the grouting we didn't like. We just had one little incident, he'd given us a day he was going to be here and he didn't show. But he followed up and came the next 2 days. Once we got the days squared away they were ready and on time.

Tom was great to work with I am recommending him to everyone. He was very responsive to my phone calls and change in plans. They worked on 2 bathrooms one for 3 days removed the cabinet and skim coated the walls and reworked the plumbing for a double vanity. The master was a complete redo, he stayed on time, cleaned up every day and kept me well informed through the entire process. He told me it would take 3 weeks and he was done exactly 3 weeks. Would use again in a heartbeat!!

Great. The work was high quality. They worked around our work schedules and came back to do minor touch-up promptly after I called. I am very pleaaed with the results.

I spoke with Tom on Monday and Dan came out the next day to provide an estimate. Dan seemed very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained how he would do the job. I have an older home and the floor was a little more complicated than a typical tile job. Dan provided an estimate and said he could start the job on Friday. Dan and his partner arrived on Friday and worked through the day to lay the tile. They came back the next day to lay the border trim and grout the tile. Dan and his partner arrived early or on time each day. Dan and his partner did a fantastic job and we were very pleased with the quality of their work. I have done some tile work in the past and I am very particular when it comes to lining everything up, but could not find a single thing wrong with the job they did. Dan also replaced a leaking toilet valve which broke when I removed the toilet (I did not even ask him to do it). He also fixed several loose tiles near my front door which I really appreciated. I would definitely hire All About Tile again and highly recommend them for all your tiling needs!

Oh my goodness, i can never say enough wonderful things about Tom Moore and All About Tile. - Timely and professional, design reference and tile 'master', he has done all the tile work and this is 4th bathroom he has done in my home. I am always pleased when he comes, leaving every day by cleaning up the mess, and when he finally goes, everything sparkles beautifully!!! WOULD NEVER USE ANYONE ELSE!!!

Dan did an awesome job on the tile floor- he installed the toilet and vanity again and the baseboards. He even trimmed out my metal air vent so it fit with the new baseboards. He worked really hard, and it did take a very long day to complete, but it looks great!

Tom, the owner, is very nice, accommodating and responsive. We called a couple of other contractors listed here but Tom showed the most professionalism. Rick from Tom's company did the work. Rick was so organized and performed the work with attention to details and professionalism. We are very satisfied with his work. The only minor issue was that Rick had to delay or cancel the work before completion and we had to call him back to correct some minor issues.

It went great. Tom and Rick came over on a Saturday, provided an immediate quote and worked me into their schedules that Monday! Rick was timely and curteous and cleaned up after himself each day. The house is old and walls are level/plumb, but his work was significantly better than I could do. In all the project was probably a 14 hour commitment and I thought the price was very reasonable....half as much as another bid from an angieslist company. I'll use Tom and Rick and AAT again.

We first got quote in response to Angie's list ad. We were very pleased with Tom's thorough, detailed estimate, knowledge and professionalism. He made recommendations, most of which we had done, and the end result exceeded our expectations. Tom referred us to several vendors and they turned out to have what we liked. Tom and his crew were always prompt and courteous during the 2 week remodel. They covered all furniture and floors to minimize dust/dirt and cleaned up every day. They picked up all of the major/heavy items needed for the remodel. We ended up having them do a few other jobs while here. They moved laundry room from basement to first floor. Installed washer/dryer (including dryer vent which was difficult), and sink. This required plumbing/electrical. Removed water softener including plumbing. Tom noticed a stain on our ceiling, inspected attic for leaks and repaired stain. He also noticed a few shingles on roof that appeared loose, inspected and fixed them. Best experience we've ever had with repairs/remodel. Tom & his crew are true craftsmen. We'll definitely use them again, and highly recommend them.

Upon closer review of the estimate, discovered that it wasn't complete (missed including shower glass, which would be $1500-$2500.) Just had the feeling that the costs would creep up during the project so we didn't hire him. Tom was responsive and showed up on time.

Everything turned out perfect !!!!!!!!!!! Wife is extremely happy and you know what they say about that!!!

Tom and Dan were very easy to work with and very knowledgable in the field of tile work. They arrived on time after a one day delay (Tom had started a job the previous day but it had become more involved then he had anticiapted so he had to reschedule). The job seemed to go fairly smoothly. When he had completed the work on the tub I mentioned the leaking faucet in the sink and Tom put down his tool kit and worked on that as well. I sinceely appreciated the time Tom took to go through options with us and to refer us to a number of companies that carry tile. He was responsive to questions and never tried to secure a more expensive fix than was necessary. I would definetly use Tom again. .
