The experience was terrific. Outdoor Design Build guided us through the design process and helped us to make optimal material and plant selections. The team was was professional, fun and fast. The work was done with care, on time and on budget (no surprises!). We are very happy with the patios, the natural stone steps, trees, and shrubs and plan on future projects with David and his crew.

From start - which included a referral for a architect who designed the space and landscaping - to finish, Dave Underhill was all about the details and making sure we were happy, satisfied customers. He was responsive and in regular communication to ensure the project stayed on schedule and was coming together as planned. The project manager and workers assigned to our project were always on time, professional, personable and tidied up the worksite at the end of each day. When it was time to select stone, pavers and paint, they made helpful recommendations. The completed project included landscaping that transformed the backyard. At one point, a sink was installed where a cooler should had been. After bringing this to Dave's attention, he noted the error and made the correction without hesitation. Now, THAT's customer service!!

We would highly recommend Outdoor Design Build. David and Rick (foreman) did an excellent job throughout the entire process. This was a very big investment for us, and we interviewed a number of hardscape firms, as well as reached out to a number of their customers. One thing stood out….David’s customers all raved about him! Ultimately, David not only came in with a competitive price, but he made us feel comfortable from the start. We did use the optional design consultant – Gayle. She came out a couple times to incorporate ideas/make changes to design, etc. [fee waived]. David communication was great throughout the project, and he and the crew we’re attentive to the smallest details. While we didn't stray much from the design,there were a couple minor adjustments needed once we actually saw things progress. No issues/concerns – we talked with them, and adjustments were made. David and his team are very professional, attentive, and wonderful to work with….there’s a good reason they have so many years in the business with such consistent, positive reviews. We ended up with exactly what we wanted and we couldn't be more pleased…the transformation it made to our back yard is incredible.

We were extremely happy with David and the services he provided. He was very thorough, and followed-up often throughout the process with phone calls, texts, and e-mails. Dave (David's concrete foreman) did an excellent job in supervising the pouring of our new driveway and front stoop, often staying until dark to finish the work. The prices for this company's products and services were reasonable and competitive, and the laborers were professional and courteous. They all did a great job in transforming the look of the front of our home!

David was easy to work with from the beginning. He was prompt with his responses and very helpful with the product decision making process. The project ran smoothly for the three weeks it took to complete. David does not hire out his services but instead had very responsible and dependable staff who complete the process. Nick showed up daily and was easy to talk to and always communicated the next steps in the project. He was open to my input as well as responsive to changes made in the plan as time went on. We added and changed the plans as the project developed and never felt that this was an issue. At the end of the project we were completely pleased and have had several compliments from friends and families on what a warm inviting space we have created. I value dependability, responsibility, and professionalism and this team met all my expectations. After people see our patio the first thing they ask is who did this. I know we will pass his name on for years to come.

David and his Outdoor Design Build crew did a fantastic job. Starting with the bidding process, David suggested that we hire a landscape architect to give us a definitive design so the bids would be equitable. We hired Gayle Frazier to put our concepts on paper. That part of the process was fantastic. Gayle has a real passion for her work and it showed on the design she did. The design of the fire pit , seat walls & boulder retaining wall all looked great on paper. Almost like a work of art. The job foreman (Nick) took Gayle's design and executed it flawlessly. Nick was a real pleasure to work with. He welcomed my input during the construction process. The crew showed up when they were schedule and performed their job in a very professional manner. Nick made sure things were done right. Like putting in an underground drainage system to handle several downspouts and expanding a rock garden to handle storm runoff. The paver patio is very large( over 700 sq. ft.) and looks great. Four different size pavers that give the patio a very nice pattern. Nick made sure the patio had the proper elevation so the fall from the house drained water away from the foundation. Outdoor Design Build was not the highest or lowest bid on this project. I awarded them the job because I was impressed with way David went about the process. We are very happy with our new beautiful outdoor living space! We have had a ton of compliments on the finished product. I would definitely use Outdoor Design Build again for other projects.

David Underhill installed an outdoor firepit, paver patio and landscaping along the back of our home. The landscaping included fairly large trees, medium size bushes, flowering plants, ground cover, tall grasses and large stepping stones. The project took just a few weeks with all remaining touch up items within a few weeks after that. He was very responsive to changes and addressing any issues that came up during the installation. The quality of the materials and plants used was excellent and I our contract includes replacement of any plants that don't survive in the first year. We will likely use him again to do landscaping in front of our home.

We used Outdoor Design Build last year for our backyard outdoor space. We were thrilled with the outcome and called upon them again this year to update our front landscape. Gayle, the designer, created a wonderful plan once again for us and the installation process could not have been smoother. Dave's crew is hardworking, professional and courteous. Gayle is extremely talented with her designs and very knowledgeable. Dave himself is honesty and delivers what he promises. You can tell his team truly cares about making sure you get what you want. We highly recommend Outdoor Design for any transformation outside of your home.

He left a message and I called back the next morning. The first thing he asked was if I had a plan/sketch. I said i did not, I knew exactly what I wanted done. He pushed his designer at $200 for a plan, and I insisted that was not at all necessary. Skip this guy if you know what work needs to be done. He advertises a free consultation, but basicly wants to charge $200 for it. UPDATE. Sorry David, but there was no misinterpretation. I have read your response and other reviews. Yes, you require me to spend up to $300 before you even provide an estimate. Paying a designer is so wasteful in my case. What I want done was very obvious if you just came out to look at the job. If others want to pay for a design, more power to them. That should be their choice to do so, not yours.

Responses were very quick via email and I won't hesitate to contact them in the future for any possible needs.

They were delayed starting a few times due to rain, no problem. They arrived promptly each day. Dave, the owner did the excavating and laid and leveled the gavel and sand bed. The paving work was by Nick, a true artist in his craft. There were 2 people here each day working on the project. They purchased some plants that were not what we had requested but had no problem returning them and bringing back the correct ones. The entire project took about a week to complete, just a few days longer than the estimate of 3-5 days. When they were done they cleaned up after themselves each day. In the end we have a patio we just love!

My call was returned same day and Dave came out the next day to meet with us. He recommended a landscape architect to design the deck and patio. We loved the design and Dave's professionalism. The paver patio was laid first and then a beautiful stone fireplace was built with a nice seating wall and a wood box; gorgeous! The crew was fantastic; easy to work with and always willing to answer any questions or concerns. They were true craftsmen, polite, and always cleaned up at the end of the day. They also paid great attention to detail. Our expectations were met and actually exceeded! I highly recommend this company! You can't go wrong and you will be very pleased with the outcome.

Dave Underhill and his team at Outdoor Design helped coordinate the design and then built an outdoor kitchen area on an existing patio area adjacent to my home. They took my concept that I had been dreaming about for several years and then helped me transform those ideas into an actual plan. His crew worked through the winter of 2014 and was diligent working through some very harsh elements. His crew was friendly to my family and I felt very comfortable with them working at my home while I was at the office. They paid extra attention to the all then small details and did not cut any corners. When needed we were in contact and they asked me to come and discuss onsite at each milestone of the project. They had the area completed by the beginning of spring and we jointly did a walk through to ensure everything was completed to my satisfaction. I would hire them again and wouldn't have any problem recommending them to my friends and family,

When we initially contacted David he recommended me to a landscape architect whom he frequently works with. She was very professional. We took her design back to David. When the plan was going to be well outside our budget David was very flexible in working with us to make some adjustments that met our budget. Despite being a small scale project David took time to make sure there were elements that made the deck unique compared to others in our neighborhood. He took into consideration how we use our back patio space in his recommendations for materials and design. He was always prompt in answering questions via email and phone and providing examples of his work at other homes. The work crew he supervised that did the manual labor was polite and professional. They also helped to make on the spot suggestions. We felt comfortable that as the project progressed the work crew would double check with us that they were on track to build the deck/pergola as written in the plan. The crew communicated questions with me/David throughout the process as needed to ensure the plan was followed. The company David secured to pour the concrete pad was also prompt and professional. It was clear they had been in communication with David. The work that was done is certainly an improvement to our outdoor space and the value of our home.

They did a good job, were easy to schedule and prompt.

David first suggested that I meet with a landscape designer, which I did. Based on those designs he then quoted me to perform the work. A deposit was taken and I was placed on his schedule. He was upfront that he would not be able to perform the job for about 2.5 months due to the work he had already scheduled. This was fine for us. The work began about a week after the initial estimated date. David was in contact with me up to that point, so the extra week delay was not a surprise or a hardship for us. One of David's employee's, Rick, performed the work. I know that David stopped by several times during the project to make sure everything was happening according to the plan. David and Rick were both very approachable and several times through the project they checked back in with us to make sure we were satisfied with the progress. They also handled spur of the moment issues very professionall. T The final product was very well executed and I am very happy with it. I would definitely use David's company again.

If every contractor was like Dave Underhill & his crew we wouldn't need Angie's List. The whole project ran smoothly from planning to installation. When we started thinking about replacing our driveway, we didn't know exactly what we wanted. Dave had great ideas & really knows his business. Dave promptly answered any questions and addressed every concern we had. He was the only contractor we talked to who didn't have to sub-out any part of the project. They started when they said they would & finished the job quickly and efficiently. They did a fantastic job & we are very happy. Our driveway looks great!!

All the work was done as described. Any small issues or problems we were notified about immediately and were taken care of or worked out in a favorable manner with contractor. Contractor was very responsive and let us know what was going on and when they would be there, etc.

We had an mid-October start date, but David called and due to a weather delay on another project, he was able to start in early October. Nick showed up promptly the following day and began the work. the work was performed efficiently and professionally. They finished and David came out to inspect the work upon completion. They also fixed a couple of spots in the yard where we had some trees removed. Overall, I thought the experience was great. From the first meeting with David and his ideas on making our steps/stoop nicer to the execution by Nick and his crew, we were very pleased with the work. Our neighbors thought the work looked great also and requested Davids contact info. We have already requested quotes for some more work this Spring.

What a great experience! From David's recommendation to work with Gayle Frazer to put together a solid plan for my yard, to Nick and Ryan's work, I couldn't have asked for better. The estimate was reasonable, I was given regular updates so I'd know what was next or why the job needed more time, my concerns were answered quickly and reasonably, and I never once felt like I couldn't go to any of them and ask questions, request clarification, or even to have something added on. This was truly one of the best experiences I've ever had with a contractor. And I love my yard!

I called Outdoor Design Build out of desperation! I was tired of the old drab mountain of a backyard. Our covered patio was cluttered and too small to entertain and the area around the pool had only a 2 foot walkway and no space to enjoy the pool unless you were inside it. I called Dave for help. He quickly provided a design consultant who worked with us to draw up plans even though we didn't know what we wanted. We loved the plans but Dave was also happy to work with us alter the plans to make it perfect for us. Dave was careful not to give us false promises and was able to start our project when he said he would. Dave kept in contact with us and kept us informed every step of the way. There were no surprises which we appreciated. Dave worked with us closely to ensure that anything we wanted altered - he took care of it. From the tiny details to the major construction, Dave and his crew worked to ensure that we were satisfied. We are thrilled with our new backyard living space that actually allows us to enjoy our backyard that takes us away to resort living out our back door!

Dave and his team were very professional and although there were some weather related delays, he always communicated with us to let me know where they were with the project and what the next steps were going to be. I think that proactive communication is key to any large project and they came through. We are extremely pleased with Dave and would highly recommend him to anyone.
