McHugh's Plumbing Inc

We had used McHugh's in the past, so we called them to look at a kitchen drain that was leaking. They discovered an elbow in our crawlspace had rusted out. They suggested re-routing the entire drain to another line that was larger and newer. Parts were ordered and the repair was made a few days later. Everything was completed on time with no additional costs.

Mr. McHugh is a very pleasant person to deal with. He explained everything that we needed to do and told us how long it would most likely take. It took extra time due to tiling that had to be completed before finishing the plumbing job. He was very good at calling to let us know when to expect him and his crew. He advised us to have some pipes checked after he noticed an odor of natural gas. He pointed out that it was coming from a connection to the hot water heater. I've been curious about that smell and was so glad that he pointed it out and offered a solution to fixing it. We will have him return to check for other leaks and to fix the leak that was discovered.

The time estimate on the job was to be one week, but it stretched into two and a half weeks because a plumber is in the business of handling emergency calls. Bob McHugh kept us informed of delays and was prompt and apologetic about calling us. He is knowledgeable and affable... a pleasure to have in the house. He and his associate did their work efficiently, cleaned up after themselves, and left us with a shiny new bathroom!

Bob did the job on time, disposed of the old toilet and cleaned up afterwards.

He had a bad attitude and he was the most expensive of the quotes I received. I chose not to do the work though him.

I called Bob at 7 p.m. on a Monday (and President's Day holiday, no less) to say that the floor of my kitchen sink cabinet was flooded; he arrived at 8:30 the next morning. He diagnosed the leak, fixed it and mentioned that my disposal gasket would need replacing sooner rather than later. For $20, I had it done on the spot. He also mounted the instant hot water heater under the sink on its bracket, since it was still sitting on the cabinet floor where my builder left it four years ago. Bob then checked a bathtub drain that has a tendency to clog, but it was running very fast. No charge for the last two items. Bob is everything included in the word "professional": respectful, courteous, clean, knowledgeable, skilled, prompt, fair. I wouldn't think of calling anyone else.

The owner of McHugh s uses excellent materials and he is well educated. I like that he was very responsive to our needs. I had an emergency situation about a couple of years ago where I had standing water in my basement. He came right over and took care of the problem for me. He is getting busier because he is getting known for his reputation of doing good job. His price is reasonable. He may be a little more than other plumbers, but it s worth it. He also has coupons available for his service. I will call on him again for his services.

I have never met him personally, but I met one of his workers. It was acceptable. It was during a lot of cold weather. He was busy and couldn't get it done right away. Everything was fine. I don't have strong feeling one way of the other. I have no complaints.

Frustrating experience. Bob came over to deliver an estimate regarding running gas to our range area for a new stove. He was punctual for the initial visit. He arrived, we discussed options, and he said that he would have to check with his supplier regarding costs, but would have me an estimate by email the following morning (he came over Monday morning, so promised by Tuesday). Nothing. I wait another day. Nothing. I call him Thursday morning, and he does not apologize, but rather says that he was busy, but he would have it to me within the hour. Eight hours go by, I call him again, and get his voice mail. I leave a message telling him that I'm unhappy with his lack of responsiveness. I hear nothing back. I called again the next day (Friday), and again get his voice mail with no callback. Maybe the guy does good work, but he has a real problem with delivering on his promises.

I have an 80 year old home, and I have a lot of mature vegetation around it. Because of this the outside drains tend to get clogged with roots. I have had an issue with a corner in the basement that kept accumulating water. I had another plumber come to inspect the drains and a worker broke a camera off which got lodged inside. I had another company come to look at the problem and he would charge $3000.00 to tear up my landscaping to clean the drains and this was suppose to be a price break. He told me that this was the only way to fix the problem. I went to Angie's List and found Bob McHugh. Bob told me to fix the problem, we only had to clean the window wells in the basement. I now have Bob clean the wells yearly. He fixed the leakage I was experiencing and was far less money. McHugh Plumbing is the best you're going to get.

The job went very well. The job took two visits. It was a broken pipe that was very hard to find. He was very professional and explained what he was doing as he worked. He even found an additional problem, which he did a temporary fix on so we could wait and repair it in the future.

He did quality work. He was entirely satisfactory.

They replaced it at a reasonable price. They were very clean. They did the work at a reasonable price. We are very pleased with the work.

It went very well. They came promptly on a Saturday morning. They used a camera to look inside the pipe. After inspecting this area he checked another area of the pipe, and found another block. They were very clean, friendly, honest, knowledgeable and professional.

Bob called us the day of the appointment to tell us he could be there early if that was okay and we agreed. He listened to our description of the problem and proceeded to clear out the obstruction in our drain lines. He also sent a camera down the drains to inspect the lines and showed us one area of clay tile with roots growing into it. He also suggested a product for us to use to clear out the roots.

The work was done as promised, when promised and for the quoted price. Bob McHugh even offered to investigate why the old tank failed so early. He cut the old tank apart and called the manufacturer to explain the problem. He is doing this to help me hopefully the same problem with the new tank, if possible.
