Description of Work: Replaced a two handled shower (seperate hot and cold) with a one handled Moen Banbury Posi-temp valve (we purchased seperately) and relocated the shower outlet. Also replaced a two handled tub with a one handled Moen Banbury Posi-temp valve (we purchased seperately) and replaced the tub spout. Reinstalled a toilet after bathroom was retiled.

+ -1 moreI called at 7:30 AM with water leaking all over under my kitchen counter and spilling down into my basement. Since there wasn't a shut-off valve installed on the water line for the hot water spigot I had to turn off the main and we didn't have any water. Bob called me back within a few minutes of my leaving a voicemail and apologized for missing my call. When I explained the situation he said he would call one of his guys right after hanging up the phone and send them over ASAP. He said they would be there by 9:00 AM. Sure enough the plumber showed up right about 9:00 ready to get started, but he provided me with a written estimate of the work beforehand so I could know what to expect. The work was finished quickly and without disrupting anything. He worked quietly and showed me everything he did once he was done. He was professional, courteous, and very pleasant. I thought the price for the labor and materials was very reasonable, especially given the emergency nature of the call. We had the spigot removed and he even offered to come back with a white "plug" to put in the hole, but we ended up installing a soap dispenser we already had in the place where the spigot was so it worked out great. I would definitely recommend McHugh's to anyone looking for a professional, courteous, reasonably priced, and responsive plumber. I will use McHugh's again for sure.

Two plumbers arrived the next day at the scheduled time and installed the new water heater. Bob McHugh and his team are courteous, professional, honest, punctual and very neat. They were very careful removing the old heater and carrying in the new unit. They cleaned up after the installation was complete. They are very customer service oriented. I highly recommend Bob and his team!

+ 0 moreI liked the fact that the crew came in prepared to work, not to walk around with a clipboard and a bunch of numbers. I've had difficulty with my basement toilet for about a year. After they listened to my description of what others had said was the problem, and what they wanted to do (tree roots in the main line, dig up and replace/repair the main line), the McHughs guys proposed removing the toilet and camera-scoping from the basement side. They made clear how much this would cost, up front. As this was less than digging up the front yard, and they seemed confident that this was the actual problem, I gave them the go-ahead. With me watching the screen (by their invitation), we saw that the problem was indeed more localized. They snaked the line, then made suggestions for what could be done in the future to avoid repeat of the problem (dig up basement floor around toilet and set in new drainage). Very professional without pressure.
Description of Work: Assessing a drainage problem with the basement toilet. Toilet was removed, drain line camera-inspected, line was snaked and toilet replaced.

+ -1 moreVery curteous, arrived on time. There were valves on the water lines that were stuck open which is why I had to call them. He was able to close one of the valves but could not close the other so he had to shut off the main water supply. Because of this, the price increased by over $50 from what was originally quoted. Although I didn't ask, I was somewhat surprised that he didn't ask if I wanted the valve replaced (I told him to leave everything in place in case we ever wanted to rehook things up). So in the end, I thought they were very expensive, just cutting two lines and capping and sawing through a PVC pipe, cost $250 before the discount.
Description of Work: Cut and capped off two water lines and a drain line in basement.

+ -1 moreHe also gave me some ideas on how to handle a couple of problems that I had here. I found them on Angie's List. I will be using them again in the new year. They are very knowledgeable. I do like the company. I have called him twice at short notice, and he has always done his best to fit me in and come up with the right solution for me. When he replaced the back faucet he put in a very high quality faucet. He also reviewed with us what we needed to do to maintain the faucet. He told us what we should do in the winter time. We still have to have him back over because we have to get a drain done. He told us what kind of drain to use and everything. He uses high-quality products, and I like that. I don't want to end up calling him next year. His price was within the scope of what he did. Plumbers are expensive. I would rather pay and get the job done correctly than keep calling them back because it wasn't done the right way. He is right in the range of what I pay for plumbers.

+ -1 moreI called McHugh's Plumbing and left a message to call me. Bob soon called and we discussed the job that needed to be done. I also forwarned him of my attemps and that it would not be an easy job do to the calcification. He said not to worry. A date and time was set for the 16th at 11AM. I let him know that I had an appointment for 2 and had to leave by 1:30. On the 16th the service man called and arrived at 9am instead. The job was finished in time to easily make my appointment. The service man was professional and cleaned up totally after the job was done. He also was knowledgeable in that he suggested some problems that may occur do to the plastic parts in the faucet and suggested replacement with metal parts if it leaks. It has not leaked and everything works great. I would recommend McHugh's. Bob kept me appraised of what was going on, the serviceman arrived earlier than scheduled, was clean, professional, experienced and knowledgeable.
Description of Work: I had a leaky faucet in the bathroom sink. It was leaking for awhile and had calcified to the point I could not remove it. It needed an industrial strength plumber to remove it. I went Angie's List and found a highly rated plumber that had done work in my area-McHugh's Plumbing. They removed the faucet and installed the new one I had already bought.

+ -1 moreWhat a terrific job McHugh Plumbing does!!!!! Bob came out to complete the estimate and snake the drains approx 4 days before the bulk of the work was completed. He was professional and courteous. He made sure that the work was done completely and with high quality and there was absolutely no mess left over when he was done. We talked about measures to take to prevent hair from clogging the drains in the future and now I've started to use a biologic product that I really like, upon his advice. He and his team did an absolutely terrific job with my new laundry room. These are exactly the kind of contractors that you want to have in your house: professional, honest, quality-focused, neat and clean, polite, hard-working and thorough. I wish that every type of specialty was like Bob McHugh and his company!! I have a lot more that will need to be done in the future, on my house, and Bob McHugh is the ONLY plumber that I will ever call!! He is terrific!!!!!
Description of Work: Snake the main bathroom sink and tub drains. Remove old utility sink. Install new utility sink and new faucet, including new copper piping and new hot and cold water shutoffs. Also, new hot and cold water shutoffs for a new washer and dryer. Inspect old gas line connection for dryer. Install new venting for the new dryer. The price included a really nice utility sink and really nice Moen faucet with built-in sprayer.

They didn't finish the work all at one time because certain parts and items had to be ordered but they were quick to install and fairly priced. There were no surprises and we couldn't be happier with the results. I highly recommend using McHugh's Plumbing, it was a very pleasant experience and you will not be displeased with their services that they provide.
Description of Work: Bob installed two new toilets and three new sinks, also he put in new piping with new turn off valves under all the sinks since the old piping was over 30 years old and two of our faucets were not working so these we fixed as well. Our upstairs shower was leaking so this was also fixed and they had to tear a hole into the ceiling to find the leak and put in the new piping. They did not fix this hole, however we were given a name of another contractor whom he collaborates with and this guy came out and fixed the hole in the ceiling and a few other problem areas we had.

+ -1 moreWe noticed a water spot on the ceiling, directly below our bathtub. Upon touching the spot, the drywall immediately crumbled. We called Bob to come inspect the problem. He was quick to return our call, and was able to schedule a visit in under 48 hours. Bob was able to determine the cause of the leak without tearing a huge hole in our drywall and was very clean and professional w/ the small amount of drywall he had to remove. He determined the tub was not sealed properly in several areas. The next day Bob returned to properly seal the trouble areas, and even went ahead and did some other spots so that it would look better. He even snaked the tub drain. Through the whole process Bob was great at communicating the process and issues. He even gave us a call a few days later to make sure no more problems came up. We will definitely use again.

+ -1 moreI am very picky about cleanliness, and I know plumbers don't have a good reputation generally for this, but I was very pleased at how the "mess" was cleaned up afterwards. Everything pretty much looked as it did before they came. Very polite and conscientous.
Description of Work: Leak underneath upstairs bathroom sink. Company came & evaluated the problem that same evening; told I need a new faucet (one I had was very old & causing the leak) & was able to replace the faucet the following day. If the faucet had been on the truck, they would have done it the same day, but since I was able to look at a catalog & order what I wanted, it was still done by the next day. I will definitely use them in the future for our plumbing needs.

Delivered an estimate and let us know that due to corrosion of pipes, more may have been needed to be replaced. Said he wouldn't know until they started the work. + -1 moreWe had high water pressure in our house, and also had a loud noise coming from our pipes whenever we ran the washing machine or flushed the downstairs toilet. We initially thought that the noise problem was due to the high water pressure which Bob came out to fix, by installing a water pressure regulator. That night we noticed that the noise was worse and actually came any time we turned on any water in the house. He responded to our request to come back the next morning and was able to diagnose the actual problem as a leaky toilet upstairs and fixed it that same day. I really appreciated his responsiveness and professionalism while he was here. He even fixed a small leak in the attic at no extra charge.

We called McHugh's plumbing on 09/15/11 and asked for an appointment to have the sewer line cleaned. Bob was able to give us a Saturday appointment and came promptly at 10:00am as promised. He was professional and did a great job cleaning the entire sewer line.

+ -1 moreI initially called to have my sprinkler system repaired. The repairman was prompt and courteous. I asked for an estimate on a back up sump pump system the same day. About two weeks later, during a heavy rain storm, my primary sump pump stopped working and my basement started flooding. I discovered the flooded basement at 7:30 on a Monday morning. I called McHughs Plumbing and they responded immediately. They replaced my primary pump within a couple hours of my call. They returned the next week and installed a water based back up system. They only charged me the estimate they originally provided and I did not pay until after the work was completed. The serviceman was professional, courteous, efficient, and prompt. After the installation was complete, the serviceman explained everything in detail. The owner called a couple days after the work was completed to ask if I was satisfied. I was impressed that he cared enough to take time from his busy schedule to call me. I am so completely impressed with this company. I will use this plumbing company for all of my future plumbing needs.

It ended up being a shut-off valve, sixty feet back in crawl space, that was corroded. I could not be home at the time of the repair but they kept me very informed with their progress. They also replaced the shower heads. I couldn't be happier with their workmanship, professionalism and price.

Description of Work: Bob McHugh came out in March to check on a leak we had, and while he was here, he gave us an estimate to replace several shut off valves in our basement, replace a gas line to the dryer, and replace our outside faucet. It took us a few months to get him back out here to do the work because we had to set some money aside for the projects. It took me a few days to get in touch with them to set up an appointment because Bob was on vacation when I called. When he called back he scheduled the work for the following week. He also sent one of his guys by our house within about 15 minutes of our phone call to re-position a faucet that was leaking so that it could shut off (which we really appreciated). I had asked my husband to take the afternoon off when they were to come so that he could deal with any questions or issues since plumbing is not my deal. Unfortunately, about an hour before they were due to arrive, Bob called and said they would not be able to make it out that day due to a backup of work, and they would have to reschedule. I understand, although my husband could not take off another day so I was here by myself when they came out the following week. Joe arrived first. There was a problem with getting our water shut off at the main valve inside the house. Bob arrived shortly after and got the water shut off out at the street. We did need a new main shut off valve in addition to the work originally quoted, which was fine. Bob and Joe got the work underway and Bob's brother and another of their guys also came to help. At one point there were 4 people here working. The job was done in about 3.5 hours. We had 8 valves replaced, the main faucet to the back yard replaced, and the gas line to the dryer replaced. So far, everything has been working great. Bob called the next day to follow up. I appreciate his attention to detail and feel that McHugh's is very reliable and does good work.
