It went poorly. I called for a minor, unusual job. I waited for 2 weeks for the estimate visit, to which I agreed. He felt that he could do the job and needed to obtain all the parts, that took an additional 3 weeks. I called him a day early to reconfirm and he informed me that he would be at least an hour late. This morning when he arrived, he was unfriendly and a little short; and he brought a shower body sprayer rather than a kitchen spray hose as discussed. I reminded him that I wanted the kitchen sprayer and he disagreed with me. I observed that we didn't see eye to eye about the job. He complained that it was non-standard. I told him that since we couldn't agree, that he could leave without completing the job. He decided to go ahead and install the sprayer hose as initially contracted. He was missing a female connector fitting and so went to a local hardware and charged us for the 45 minute round-trip, although he had come two weeks earlier to bid the job and see what parts he lacked. He installed the hanger with a permanent stick-on adhesive. When he later installed unforeseen compression hose, it caused extra tubing to be loop around. It would have been fine, but he had installed the hanger before finishing the job. He told me I could buy another 12 dollar hangar and move it later myself. It cost 283 dollars to install a sprayer hose, primarily because he did not bring the proper materials with him. What he did bring with him was a very bad attitude. My guest from India, who heard all this, was worried that they were causing trouble by asking for this convenience. I still do not understand why this man was so rude and unfriendly, unless he was homophobic. I got the sense he was unhappy because the job was outside the scope of the usual plumbing installation, but he had had an opportunity to decline the job 5 weeks earlier. I see that he has stellar reviews here, which is why I chose him initially, but I am sorry that I had him in my house. I would pay him 300 dollars to stay away.

McHugh's plumbing met me on site to do an estimate for my In-laws bathroom. He tooks my requirements and converted them into options with costs. We picked out the style we wanted and McHugh ordered the equipment. The McHugh team showed up on Thursday morning and completed all the work hired to complete. The McHugh team did a good job.

McHugh's was the 4th plumbing service we contacted: one never returned our call; a second came out, walked and talked the jobs, said what would be done, seemed interested in the job, but never returned with an estimate -- perhaps because we also wanted approval from our city inspector; a 3rd examined the various jobs, and gave us a good estimate, but wanted us to incur the total annual cost of registering with our municipality. Bob McHugh returned our call promptly, made an appointment to examine the jobs, gave us a competitive estimate cost-wise and told us the length of time the jobs would take, made a date for the work, and finished within the time frame previously stated. Two other plumbers were going to run a drain line under the floor boards of the kitchen. Bob studied this particular job and came up with a simple, but far more elegant and (future) fixer-friendly solution that included tapping into a pre-existing vent close to the installation site of the appliance requiring the drain. We were very pleased with the work done, the professionalism of the employees and Bob McHugh himself. He took time to tell us the means by which he obtained his experience as well as his own company. He's a good idea man, good worker, and good communicator, who is considerate, responsive, and professional.

I liked the quality of their work. The were punctual with their timing. They also had good workmanship and cleaned up after themselves.

Our sump pump broke just the rains from Hurricane Sandy were at their peak. I called Bob at 9:30pm and he returned my call that night, saying that he could send someone first thing in the morning as he was too busy with other calls to come that night. His employee, Larry, arrived before the estimated time of 9:30am, which was fantastic. In an hour and half, Larry had diagnosed the problem, installed a new sump pump that was better quality that the one we had, and walked me through the necessary ownership information. The pump continued to work throughout the day and we avoided a catastrophic basement flood. The price was completely reasonable and the service was prompt, especially during a particularly busy time. I would recommend Bob, Larry, and McHugh's and will definitely use them again.

Bob came over quickly, even though it was a very busy day, and figured out the problem fast. He then proceeded to fix it carefully, and our weekend was not ruined with no water. Kudos to another excellent service call from McHugh Plumbing

I contacted Bob McHugh and left a message on his machine. He got back to me within 24 hours and came out to the house to look over the work I needed. He thoroughly explained what I would need and gave me options also. I received a written estimate via email the next day. We set up a time for the repairs later in the week as he had some other jobs to finish first. Two of his crew arrived early afternoon and were done in 4 hours. They were very polite, efficient and careful of not getting anything dirty. They cleaned up like they'd never been there! I felt they did excellent work and the price was fair for all of the work that was done. I feel confident in the quality of the materials also. The job was priced out in advance and except for having to add the faucet work in, I paid what was quoted.

Mr. McHugh came out in terrible weather, on short notice, on Christmas Eve, diagnosed our drain/disposer problem very quickly, fixed it just as quickly, and then said there was no charge. A lovely Christmas gift from an excellent plumber.

The whole experience was positive. My phone call was returned promptly and the work was scheduled and accomplished quickly as well. Bob obviously knows what he is doing and provides an invaluable service at a fair price. I felt like he did what was needed and nothing more. I will call him the next time I need help with plumbing in my home.

I had new replacement part delivered. I easily replaced the rusted part. I thought it was great how Mc Hugh's provided me warranty assistance years after the original install.

I wasted a week waiting on this guy and it has totally cost me time and money where I could be doing other parts of my project. I am suspicious of Angie'slits.

Overall, it went very smoothly. The partnership between the plumber and handyman was well coordinated. The job was done professionally, people were very friendly and knowledgeable, the area was kept clean. Our new shower is wonderful! I highly recommend McHugh's.

First, let me say that my wife absolutely hates to deal with plumbers. This means that when she has a problem with these folks, I have a problem when she calls all upset about the person I have chosen to help fix the problem. Thanks to Bob, I am a hero today! My wife has called me repeatedly to say that she would never work with any other plumbing company other than Bob's!! He is by far the most honest, fair and friendly plumber she has ever had the pleasure of working with!!! Let me take you through the whole process.... First, a week ago, I called and left my message requesting a call back from Bob on the answering machine. Because of the reviews here, my wife and I agreed that it was worth waiting for Bob to call back. On Saturday afternoon (the next day), Bob returned my call. Bob apologized for not being able to call back sooner as he was not in the office on that Friday and was catching up on all his work that following Saturday. I scheduled an appointment between him and my wife for the following Friday (5 business days later). Bob explained that he had a remodel job ongoing and wanted to finish that before catching up on these other calls. Again, since Bob and I agreed that I was in no hurry and had no emergency, I was alright with this delay. The way I looked at it (and still do), he is well worth my wait to get the quality customer service that I was expecting! Bob did not let my wife down!! Friday came and he called 20 minutes before the agreed upon appointment time to say that he had to run some equipment up to Lyndhurst for his other employees and he would be about an hour or so late getting back out near Mentor. I asked that he update my wife and he did so in a timely fashion. Once he arrived at the house, he immediately reviewed all of my wife's concerns and began work. Bob ended up spendng 90 minutes at our house and did not leave until he was sure all of my wife's questions and concerns were addressed to her complete satisfaction!! He verified that the main bathtub drain was almost completely plugged up. He brought in a powered drain snake and snaked out the tub drain through the overflow opening, as we expected. We confirmed with him that we could purchase or rent a hand snake and do this work ourselves the next time if we so chose. Bob was very comfortable answering our questions and did not take offense with any of the questions we asked. He then explained to my wife that the reason her toilet flushed the way it did was because someone (ie, me) had installed a water savings device in the toilet tank that handled the water management different from what was normal and expected (sorry Hun, for not telling you about that!). He offered to completely redo that work with the normal equipment for an additional expense and I declined as I can do that myself (now that I know that it bothers my wife!). Bob went throughout the bathrooms and confirmed by running the water that all the sinks were draining properly (I was able to clean all the traps and drains out of the sinks in the week that I was waiting for Bob to come out, with no problem as it is quite easy to do when I was able to set aside the time). Bob then reviewed a bathtub faucet in another bathroom that was not properly installed. While fixing that problem, he pointed out to my wife other problems with the install and corrected all of the problems while working in that tub! Bob showed my wife why each part of the install was wrong in a clear and understandable way, so that my wife was sure that his solutions were truly the right way to go. He completed all of that work easily and with the utmost quality. Now, my wife is fully happy with that install for the first time in 3 years (yea, I know I should have called the remodeler back in for that repair but that would be a whole 'nother review :) ). Bob then explained to my wife that some bathtub drains can actually need snaking on a yearly basis. Bob provided us with some biodegradable product that we will put into our bathtub drains weekly in an effort to help control these clogs. We have had such a historical problem with tub drain clogs that we will try this and may even go the snake route again if necessary. All in all, my wife and I rate Bob a 10+ out of 10 for his promptness, honesty, communication (in being late), customer service and quality of the work done (exactly the way Bob said it would be done). We are not easy folks to please. We have learned that we will wait as long as necessary for Bob in the future because everything about his work is flawless! It was a very satisfactory experience, overall. They were punctual, friendly and professional throughout. I noticed after they left that one of the pipe flanges was not against the wall. I called them and they came back in a timely manner and fixed the problem.

Bob was quick to respond and be available. Very personable yet professional, very through and detailed in explaining his approach and recommended options to resolve my plumbing issues. Very satisfied and have already scheduled a follow up appointment for some other minor repairs.

Our first floor toilet was leaking from a crack in the tank. I called two plumbing contractors for estimates to replace the toilet, and both gave me ballpark figures over the phone and offered to make appointments for free estimates in my home, which I declined. Both contractors gave me rough figures for 2 different toilets, lower-end and higher-end. Although Bob's estimate was higher than the other contractor, he spent more time discussing the replacement toilet, and he recommended a Toto toilet. Coincidentally, I had researched Toto before so that caught my interest. I had called on Saturday, and he offered to do the work almost immediately, but we agreed it could wait until Monday. Sunday he called to confirm the scheduling, and Monday morning Bob's brother and a coworker came out to take measurements. Then they left, picked up the new toilet, installed it, and hauled the old one away. Everything went very smoothly and the toilet works just fine. Bob also called Monday evening to confirm that everything was satisfactory. Bob's communication was excellent, and the speed and quality of service was excellent. I gave the price a B rating but I'm not sure that's fair since the other estimate was for 2 different brands of toilets. I'm very satisfied and would use McHugh's again.

Bob McHugh was responsive, efficient and competent. He got the job done very quickly, and it is such a relief to have a kitchen faucet that works well! I would definitely recommend him to friends.

They were very professional, two plumbers worked together and got it all done in about 5 hours. I have done plumbing work in the past but did not have time to do this myself this time. They did quality work, I would not have done anything differently then what they did. I felt the parts prices were little high but they used all quality parts unlike some outfits that charge you the high price but are using Home Depot Depot parts.
