 + -1 moreJohn did a poor job coating our chimney with stucco (cement). And once he had our check in hand, he never returned calls, and never returned to seal or to clean the chimney as promised. He comes across as a nice guy but his actions are opposite. It appears that our experience is similar to a lot of others. John is dishonest and I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND hiring him for anything!!!
Description of Work: Coated chimney with stucco. Not done very well. Never returned to seal.

 + 1 moreafter being charged sales tax I find out he don't file or pay the state the collected sales tax. He does not have a vendors license. Has a fake workers compensation certificate and has not filed any income taxes since 1994. This is an illegitimate business and he is a crook!!

 + -1 morehave used this person for 2 years, but this year he was a no show twice. no call to cancel or reschedule! would never use him again and would NOT recommend him.

Description of Work: Called to replace chimney about 4/10/11. They responded and replaced the chimney, and started to bring it up to safety standards. One piece of a heat shield was to be installed a week later. I paid,they did not show up for two appointments. After several months I called again. they came out and pointed out my chimney, at an additional charge. They swore if I paid they would return the following week to install the heat shield, not installed the previous year. It has been a month and I haven't heard from them. This is not a recommendation for this company.

 + -1 moreJohn was on-time, worked quickly. He was extremely accommodating of my curious toddler, a big bonus in my book. He inspected our chimneys and determined they did not need to be cleaned at this time. He explained the use of my wood stove to me and offered to go upstairs to check a 3rd chimney damper, even though he did not inspect that chimney. He recommended some concrete work on the chimney; I'll have him perform that in the spring. Overall I was satisfied and would use him again.
Description of Work: John inspected our chimneys to determine if cleaning was needed.

 + 0 moreJohn did a very nice job for us recently and over the years. He is honest and trustworthy and someone I would not hesitate to hire for future work.
Description of Work: John has done a lot of work for us over the years. He installed our wood burning stove at our previous home, and assisted in moving it and installing in our new home. He added an outside combustion air kit. This past spring we hired him to remove foam insulation that contractors sprayed on our chimmney pipes inside a wall. This was causing noxious fumes and smoke. It was a very tedius, tough job, but he got it done. Sometimes it is difficult to get on his schedule, but he always does very good work and at a fair price. He also has cleaned our chimmney pipes and woodburner each year, and has replaced the fiberglass window gasket on the woodburner.

 + -1 moreCAME AND DID THE CAP WORK, STARTED EXTERIOR MASONRY, BUT THE MORTAR WAS BAD. IT KEPT CRACKING. VERY DISAPPOINTING WORK ON OUR DRIVEWAY. HE STARTED BECOMING VERY ERRATIC IN SHOWING UP, MADE SEVERAL EXCUSES. FINALLY JUST DISAPPEARED AFTER RECEIVING 75% OF THE COST UPFRONT. VERY DISAPPOINTED
