Response from Sitework Developing Inc
In response to the customer review from June 4, 2013, Sitework Developing, Inc. would like to make the following statement. First, all accessible drainage tile was jet snaked/camera snaked. Second, the homeowner viewed camera to observe break in main drain tile at street. Third, Sitework advised the homeowner to contact the city to see if the city would repair the break since it was so close to the street. The city inspector came to the home while our foreman was there and our foreman explained the nature of the problem and showed the inspector the location of the break. The inspector then told the homeowner and our foreman that the repair would be the homeowner's responsibility. A verbal quote was given for the repair to the homeowner and at that time and the homeowner DID NOT want to make the repair. The break was located in the main drain pipe which would affect the way the home drained. All of the facts were explained to the homeowner but again the repair was declined by homeowner. Sitework was able to achieve slow water flow through the drain tile but explained that it was just temporary and it was just a matter of time before a blockage would occur again due to the break in the main drain line. For our records we would like to know if the repair by the other company was based on our recommendation or a temporary repair?

The project was completed quickly (three days). The on-site team of Nick and Ben worked hard and did an excellent job of answering our questions and explaining what they were doing as things went along. They surveyed the site and dug several trenches for the downspout system and the run-off piping. They tied-in 3 downspouts that should be a huge aid in drying the area. They also installed the main 6" pipe that will carry the water over the hill and into the woods. They did an absolutely fabulous job of protecting the rest of our yard from damage from the heavy equipment that was brought on site. They also did a nice job in repairing and reseeding the trench lines. Hopefully the weather will cooperate so the grass will begin to grow. These are hard working guys that battled plenty of rain and cold weather on a couple of the days. We highly recommend Sitework Developing.
Description of Work: Mike Sheets (G.M. of Sitework Developing) met with us to discuss ways to eliminate a large area of our yard that is constantly wet. After receiving the written proposal from Mike, Sitework Developing was hired to install a series of curtain drains (approximately 18" deep) in our side and back yard to aid in drainage. They also built a 4" downspout system to assist with removing roof run-off away from the foundation and into the drainage system. They installed a 6" outlet line as the master pipe to discharge the water over the hillside in our back yard. A couple hundred feet of both drain and solid piping was used on the job as well as gravel, topsoil, grass seed, and straw. The workers were here for 3 days and did a very nice job of minimizing the damage to the rest of our lawn despite a couple of rainy work days.

Our basement had a musty smell. We had several contractors over and most of them proposed replacing the main storm sewer line. Mike checked out the basement and suggested excavating 2-3 positions to examine conditions of the foundation tiles/sewer lines, and to snake/clean tiles and main storm line. The two-men crew (Foreman Mike and Bill) were hard working, professional and prompt. They unclogged the main storm line as well as underground connecting storm lines, installed clean-outs and refilled the holes. The repair seemed to have done the job as the basement does not have the musty smell any more.
Description of Work: They excavated, cleaned foundation tiles and storm sewer line.

Siteworks dug and piled a huge mound of dirt in our backyard, but at completion, everything was cleaned up and restored, ready for re-landscaping.
Description of Work: We had water problems in the basement, including seepage at the base of the walls in numerous locations. Siteworks excavated to the base of the foundation around the entire circumference of the house. They removed the old drain tile pipes and installed new plastic drain pipes. They sealed the walls on the outside with mastic and rubber membrane, back filled the trench with gravel, resurfaced the area with topsoil and guaranteed the work for life. The basement has remained dry (from seepage) since. A big and expensive job, but it has reclaimed our basement as useful living space.

I called for the appointment and was able to meet in 2 days for an inspection and quote, and then schedule the work the next week (my request). The crew (two people, three days with some time lost due to heavy rain) was on-time, professional and hard-working. They called a few times with questions as they went along - confirming that it was okay to remove an extra shrub, suggesting to replace another downspout collar and to discuss options for coating the basement wall. Although I had them do a few unplanned things along the way, the final bill aligned well with the initial quote. The crew cleaned up well, even replanting the shrubs they moved to cover the holes left by removed trees. Several months later, my tenants report that the basement has stayed dry, so the repairs seem to have done the job. Sitework was a pleasure to work with, and I would certainly call them again.
Description of Work: Inspected basement moisture problem and drain tile, concluding (correctly) that the drain tile had collapsed and needed replacement. Excavated one side of the house, removing 2 tall (40') firs. Replaced drain tile, downspout collars and connectors, cleaned out mains, coated exterior of basement wall, and filled / replaced shrubs & grass.

I had planned to install a paver patio in the area, but I do not have equipment sufficient to excavate this much soil or haul it away. The patio was to surround an old concrete slab patio that was already on the site. Sitework arrived on time, completing the job quickly. They did a great job cleaning up the site after the job which was completed exactly as I requested. I even had some tree roots on the job site that were there from a tree that I had removed last year. They went above and beyond in scraping out many of these roots to leave me with a clean site for my patio.
Description of Work: Sitework excavated approximately ten inches deep and 500 sq ft around an existing patio. They then hauled and spread nearly twenty tons of gravel. The excavated earth was hauled away.

I called siteworks for an estimate to have work done on my yard. I wasn't sure what type of work was needed, only that I had a water problem. Mike came out and gave me a detail estimate, explaining the type of drainage needed to resolve my water problem. The estimate process was smooth and detailed. I compared Sitework's pricing to several other companies and found them to be competitive. They were not the lowest bid and they were not the highest. Once I approved the quote, work began on my back yard. The workers, Mike and Bill, were polite, professional, prompt, and knowledgable. They discussed the work that was to be done prior to starting, gave me updates as the job progressed, and offered recommendations for future work to be preformed once the job was completed. I especially like that Mike and Bill took the time each evening to rope off the construction area to prevent anyone from falling in the holes in my back yard. The job site was kept clean and I was very impressed with Sitework's professionalism. I would definately use this company again.
Description of Work: Sitework Developing performed excavation in my back yard to eliminate a drainage problem. They installed curtain drains through the back yard, graded existing soil, and replanted my grass. The job took about a week to complete.

We called the company after seeing them at the Home and Garden show. Initially we chose them because of the camera snaking feature. We were having some problems and liked the idea of being able to actually see the problems not just guess and dig. Mike came out and discussed our concerns and mentioned what he believed our problem might be and the approx. cost. He was knowledgeable and courteous. Two man crew came out on agreed day and time to snake the drains which was interesting but slightly disturbing to see.I was informed and shown problems with our system and the workers were very patient when going over details of both the problem and the way or options for fixing things. Job grew in scope and cost with the findings but we expected it might so were prepared. The job also took longer then expected partially because of the scope of things and a couple days of heavy rains. We varied with having two and some days 3 guys working here. Care was taken with the outdoor landscaping and the guys were great with cleanup. All and all this was a positive experience. No one wants to spend money on these kind of projects but if you have to I definitely would call this company again. Everyone was very helpful from the office staff to the professionals coming to our home. The only reason everything is not an A is because of some concrete patching that had to be done following the trenching that went through our driveway and sidewalk. Care was taken to minimize the amount of concrete that was disturbed which was great but the strip through the driveway looks to have settled lower and I'm slightly concerned it might be and issue later. I have not contacted Siteworks about this concern.

I was completely satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: My 3 acre residential lot in the woods has an active creek that curves through it. Over time, ocasssional heavy rains can erode the outer creek bank as it runs through the property. Sitework suggested a more permanent solution to install wire baskets filled with rock (from the creek) along the area of creek bank erosiion. The baskets and rock were installed in a way that look good and as natural as possible. Sitework certainly had the know how to do the work. Previoulsy, every 5 years or so I would have rocks pushed from the creek to the bank....but over time, they would be washed downstream. Sitework's solution was planned and installed to be permanent. The Sitework people and crew were easy to work with, professional, and dedicated to my satisfaction on the project. I used Sitework years ago for another project and was equally satisfied.

Mike Sheets, the General Manager of Sitework came to our house (arrived on time) to review the project. During the initial consultation I was impressed with his knowledge and his realistic approach to the backyard excavating project. The front yard project was more complicated and Mike indicated that he would need to talk to his landscape architect before he could give us an estimate so he mentioned that he would need a little extra time, which wasn't an issue for us as the project wasn't an emergency. When 2 weeks passed and I hadn't heard from Mike I tried to call him directly but got his voice mail so I left 2 messages on the phone number that was on his business card - he never returned my calls. A week later I called the Sitework office and spoke to their office manager, explaining that I was waiting on an estimate from Mike. She put me on hold and assured me that Mike would get me something that same week, but I never heard from Mike or anyone at Sitework again. After six weeks and three phone calls that were never returned we chose to have another, much more responsive, contractor take care of the project for us. Sitework has a good reputation but in the case of our project, their follow up was terrible.
Description of Work: We requested an estimate for excavating portions of our backyard to install a French drain and improve the overall drainage of the yard, and for a re-grading project that included the reconstruction (and possible relocation) of a retaining wall in the front yard.

Great. If I could give abetter rating then A, I would. I have already recommended them to friends in the area.
Description of Work: We have a split level house that is about 43 years old. Water was leaking in the lower level from the front wall. I was very upset and had no idea what was the cause or solution to this problem. I called Siteworks and Mike Sheets (General Manager) came out to give me a bid. He immediately knew (well he predicted because the cause can't be confirmed until they look at the drainage pipes) after looking at the floor and the entire lower level, what the problem was and explained what Siteworks would do to solve the problem. They came in and fixed everything. The employees were excellent and Mike closely supervised the work. I can't say enough good things about this company. They went above and beyond and I am very grateful to Mike and all the folks at Sitework for their help.

Siteworks was easy to work with and professional. The challenge came in that after the first repair the problem was not fixed. This led to a longer than expected process. However, at the end Siteworks were good to their contract and re-performed the job to eventually fix the problem. If the water penetration had been fixed on the first try I feel that the marks would have been straight A's. The reason for the B rating was that the follow-up process was more difficult than I wanted it to be. I feel that Siteworks is a reputable company and is trustworthy. I think that my experience is probably not the norm.
Description of Work: We had water coming into our basement. Siteworks was contracted to diganose and fix the problem. The fix required our back patio to be partially removed, a trench dug against the house and a waterproof liner applied to the portion of the house where water was penetrating.

The guys from Sitework were extremely professional. They understood their job, went through all the options with us, were really good about understanding the best way to figure out what each problem was, and were very up-front about how their work was going. They also made sure everything they touched was improved by the time they were done. I couldn't be more pleased with their service, and will gladly hire them again if/when I need such services in the future.
Description of Work: Sitework basically took on the job of stopping the water that was running into our basement during heavy rains. Over the course of three days of work, they scoped (via a camera on a snake-like device) the pipes under and around the house, determined that they were nearly all essentially 100% clogged, excavated in two places against the house, snaked out all the pipes, replaced some of the pipe, improved the ground and exterior basement wall where they had dug holes, and put everything back the way it was before. Net result: no more water in the basement, totally clear drain pipes (out to the street) and totally clear footer tile (out to the street), and an improved foundation in the areas they dug up.
