I was amazed by the fact that they were very unprofessional about they way they submitted there bid. They never wrote it on a formal estimate for me. One of the things that was curious was the another company claims to be the only company that the energy efficiency credit would apply to, and Foundation Home Services did not tell me if it would or not. They had very few reviews on Angie?s List.

The salesman arrived about half an hour late (and it was the first appointment of the morning) and stayed about 20 minutes. He looked at the basement, took some measurements, gave us a really low price and left. Did not have the references or proof of insurance, workers comp and bonding that we requested when we made the appointment. He was nice enough, but he didn't instill a great sense of diligence or interest in getting the job. They were the lowest of all the estimates, but we didn't have a confident feeling about it.

Let me be clear, our basement is dry. DRY. (So far.) AND the work was CHEAP. So we really don't have room to complain, but others should be aware of the caveats of using these guys. The job process had some hiccups and the end product less than polished. We got one HECK of a deal compared to using one of the big name companies though. So that seems to make it okay. Except for a snowstorm keeping them from coming the original scheduled day, their crew did show up and complete the job consecutively. They had trouble getting electrical subs to complete the job. Pretty understandable. Minor gripes are with details. A permit was suppose to be pulled. Never saw it or an inspector. They forgot to do a mold fogging process before the wall panels went up and then had to half-a** it afterwards. The paneling could have been buttoned down a bit neater and with more fasteners, as well as cut more neatly. The poured cement is not level with the floor around it. They spilled coffee on our entry door and didn't clean it up and backed their truck into firewood rack resulting in damage. There is a lot of mud involved with the work. You would think they would have preventative measures in place to keep mud off places where it shouldn't be. Oh well. Get what you pay for. I did not call to complain about any of these things because I cannot imagine how they could come back on the tight margins they are running. The only real problem we had is that they slopped cement all over the paver patio we just installed last summer and our driveway. Mixing cement is a messy process, I understand, but put some tarps down!! Even if it is snowy out. Now I have to detail pressure wash each paver and the driveway. Thought of calling them to complain, but not sure I want to deal with the hassle and would rather do it myself, so I know it is done right. Another weird thing is that there was no follow up. Didn't call to make sure we were satisfied. We were considering having them do a poured epoxy stone floor and talked with them about that job. You would think they would have checked up on us. Weird. Not bad guys and not an overall bad experience. If budget matters and you can deal with some rough edges, these might be ideal guys for you. We are going to be framing in all the basement walls to cover up. Had hoped to avoid that.
Description of Work: Installation of the typical "B-Dry" waterproofing system. That is to say, they trenched out along the inside foundation, stuck in smooth side PVC drainage pipe, fed that pipe into a sump pump that they installed, connected sump to outside downspout, installed plastic sheeting and the typical basement wall liner with anchors - approximately 90 linear feet of full basement, graveled over the pipe, then cemented over that. Ran devoted power line to sump and installed marine battery backup.
