They were prompt and installed the new furnace as promised. All involved were professional and kept us updated as the installation took place. Barring any potential issues, we are very happy so far with the service they provided.
Description of Work: Our furnace stopped working the day before an expected big change in temperatures. We turned to Angie’s List, BBB and at other ads, and decided to call Auburn. After looking at a few options, we decided to replace our 20 year old furnace.

I thought I had no reason to question the quotation on this job because we had been long time customers and I always thought they treated us fairly. So when we got a $3000 quote for a hot water tank replacement (not emergency or Sunday service) I assumed we must have a very high end tank that itself must cost over $2000. But, after it was installed I Googled the make and model and found I could have purchased the material at retail prices for about $1000. They spent about 4 hours on site and essentially charged $2000 for the labor. Nothing special about this installation, they just caught me trusting them as a long time customer would, and I didn't question their quotes on other work so they decided to get what they could get. The owner was unapologetic. Told me that was their book price, that no one coerced me, and I could have said no at any time. There was nothing wrong with the quality of the work that I can see. The plumbers they sent were professional and courteous. But, I just feel that they took advantage of a long time customer that felt he had no reason not to trust them and therefore, didn't get a second or third quote. If you are dealing with this company, then I strongly advise you comparison shop so you don't get taken advantage of like we did.

The job they did was an "A." The problem I have was with the price. It came in excess of $370.00 for him to show up plus the parts. For what the guy did, it wasn't worth the cost. He wasn't even here 45 minutes. He did show up on time and did a good job. I was satisfied with what he did other than the price. There's just not $350 worth of labor there. They need to lower their prices. I will not call them first the next time. I will check around for prices first, then call them and hope they match other's prices. At this time I would say I would not use them again.

A very nice and helpful gentleman came out promptly the next day after i called. Very pleased with their responsiveness i have used them before on the furnace and a fuel tank issue. I showed him what was going on with the ac and took him out to the exterior. I showed him the fuse that looked ok but his experience was to pull it out for full inspection and also checked for a phase issue. The fuse was bad on testing so he went to the truck with a spare pair. I was prepared to pay the diagnostic fee and the price of the fuses. He was there 30 min...he called to get a price on the fuse and gave me a total bill for 285. I asked what the price of the fuses are knowing the service call diagnostic was like 150 and he said 87 dollars a piece and had trouble keeping a straight face. I believe he talked to the boss because the normal woman was away that day. No way i said those time delays are 20 bucks or less at hardware store. He said i could deny the parts which i promptly did. I have no problem paying 150 for the expertise but that was a total screw job on the parts. I think it was the boss that tried to run it through and If it was my wife there or anybody that didn't have a sense of reasonable price in mind for a fuse they would have just paid it. Thats what they are counting on. So im disappointed in them and if i use them again i know i have to be there.

They came when they said they would. They did what they said they would do. They installed our furnace about seven years ago. We use them when something goes wrong. They are good and responsive. They have a weekend emergency line that they answer. They don't waste time. I think that their price is competitive but I haven't compared prices. They did allow me to apply a number of coupons to the price which was nice.

You can call them at 2:00 in the morning and they will come out. They are very competent and knowledgeable. We were in Washington for five years or so and they had a key and if something was wrong they would come out and fix it. They are very reliable. I would give them an A all around.

This not our first rodeo with these clowns. If it's not price gouging during a winter emergency, it's a matter of not being forthcoming with information on a brand new AC unit installed and serviced by another company so that they could collect $89 service fee. This company's lack of ethics is appalling. It could have been worse, if we had trusted them on both calls we would have been out approx. $700. UPDATED OCTOBER 6, 2012: This is an addendum to the response from Auburn Heating concerning no record or invoice not coinciding with estimates given. The quote of $400 to replace a malfunctioning Honeywell RC182C 1051was not part of any written estimate but rather a verbal estimate to gauge the honesty of said company prior to quoting and installing a new HVAC system in the house. Needless to say we went with another company. I also find it ironic that the owner of Auburn Heating and Air Conditioning who by the way has a criminal record (Geauga County Clerk of Courts Case 93C000154} would refer to this writer as a con man. Let the buyer beware.
Description of Work: Upstairs heat went out at winter. Contacted Auburn Heating and AC . Service Tech arrived promptly, was extremely professional in his demeanor and immediatly attempted to rip us off. He stated that the Honeywell RC182C 1051 Switching Relay was bad and needed to be replaced. With part and labor, total cost $ 400. Suspicious we refused went the D.Y.I route. Job consisted of a unbolting the old installing the new unit and reinstalling color coded wires into the proper terminals. Cost of the part was approx $114 and the entire job took less than 30 minutes. Beware of Auburn Heating and AC . UPDATED OCTOBER 6, 2012: This is an addendum to the response from Auburn Heating concerning the two invoice and the dates not coinciding with work done. The quote of $400 for replacing the Honeywell RC182C 1051 was not a part of the estimate for other work to be done. But rather a test question, a verbal estimate to see if this company could be trusted to install a complete HVAC system in the house. Obviously we went with a different company. I also find it ironic that a convicted felon {Geauga County Clerk of Courts Case #93C000154] would refer to me as a con-man. As a have stated here and other forums, let the buyer beware.

In response to to Member and Member's complaint - both are from same address. Funny how he responds on June 7, 2012 and complains about a call on Nov. 4, 2011. We know we were NEVER there on Nov. 4, 2011. This is a fabricated story!! Member has made several lies about us. We have the only two invoices of when we were there and will submit both copies to anyone who requests them as proof this is a fabricated story. He is the con!

Description of Work: Received a post card approx. one week ago advising us that we need our AC unit inspected for the summer. Service tech arrives glances at the unit and returns to his truck to make a phone call. Returns to the unit and begins the inspection. Inspection reveals seals leaking coolant approx. $400 in repairs. Questioned as to how this could happen since the new unit was only three years old and looks almost brand new and still under warranty. Further, the unit was just inspected last year at this same time. Tech says he had contacted his office and was informed that they haven't been at this location in 6 years. Charged 89.99 for the inspection but we delayed major repair after further review. Discovered the new unit was installed by another company. Questionable, ethical business practice began with a postcard indicating seasonal inspection when said inspections stopped 6 years ago. When the service tech immediately observed that this was a relatively new unit, he, and or the office personnel he had contacted, should have indicated that there could be a conflict. In my experience this only occurs when individuals and or businesses are not ethically challenged.

Now I am receiving harrassing phone calls from both the owner and the technician, but neither has even suggested to return to PERFORM THE SERVICE CORRECTLY.
Description of Work: Auburn installed my boiler 4 years ago. I made certain to be on automatic appointment yearly service for firing. They did autumn service until this year. I called Friday 12-23 11 for 'boiler wont fire'. Serviceman (MIke) came out and stayed all of 8 minutes to diagnose 'water in oil tank'. He did not have the tools necessary to do the job, and promised to return as soon as the water pumped from bottom of tank (performed b4 early evening), to complete the filter and nozzle replacement. He left the bleeder open, and when the boiler cycled on, IT ISSUED FUEL OIL ALL OVER THE UTILITY ROOM!! No return, and no return of phone calls. Saturday no return phone calls, Sunday no return phone calls. Monday was 1/2 over when the owner (Jim) finally returned my call. I described the situation and the owner flatly denied that his technician left open the bleeder. Then he had the gall to exclaim that not only was I NOT on the contract list, but that they hadn't done my maintenance in over 2 years (they fired it 2010, 2009, 2008)...I really do not know how to cope with such wretched dishonesty, besides letting others know that it has happened. This is the second incident which has prompted me to quit Auburn.

On July 21, 2011 the new AC system began to fail. I called the company after hours and the technician on call, Matt, called me back promptly. After discussing the problem, he informed me that in his opinion the system did not sound as if it were working properly. He asked if I would like him to come out that evening, but that it would be late. I said that it was not necessary to have someone look at it that evening but if someone could come in the morning that would be great. On Friday July 22, 2011, - Mike, another employee arrived about 8:45 am. He inspected the system and found nothing wrong. However the system was still not cooling the home to the temperature the thermostat was set to. About 15 minutes after he left my home, the furnace made a very loud noise that actually vibrated the floor of the home several times. This noise was so alarming that I questioned my safety. I immediately called Auburn Heating's office and my call was answered by the owner of the company . I explained that the furnace was making an alarming noise and that the technician had just left. The owner was a bit short with me on the phone asking first if my house was cool. I responded yes but that the reason for my call was the alarming noise and vibration. In an agitated tone, he told me that his men had already been to my home and they were now helping others who had no AC. I reminded him that I had just spent nearly $9000.00 with his company in the past few weeks and did not appreciate his snippy tone. This did not sit well with the owner who went on to be very agitated with me on the phone. Twice he said and quot;Do you want me to come over there and rip out the system and give you your money back/and quot; I found this to be very belligerent and attempted to ask him to allow me to speak but he would not. He ended the conversation by taking my cell phone number and telling me he would send someone over when he could. He did as he said and Mike, the technician who had been out at my house earlier that day, returned. At that time, Mike heard the noise that I had heard and said he felt something was wrong with the unit. Soon another technician, Matt came to assist Mike in the assessment of the unit. Matt remained at the house and repaired the unit enough to keep it running until an replacement unit could be installed. Matt left me a voice mail message upon completion of his work and told me that if I had any questions to call the office. That afternoon, I called the office to discuss the course of action in a permanent repair. After being told that the owner was not in the office and left a message, he called me back about 2 minutes later. He began is conversation with me a rather pleasant tone. He told me that the unit would be replaced free of charge sometime the following week. I found this humorous because the unit was obviously under warranty and of course it would be replaced free of charge - it had only been in for about one month! Regardless, I thanked him and then went on to compliment his technicians for the wonderful service that had provided in my home that day. I went on to then say that I was however and quot;not happy with the way our phone conversation had gone earlier in the day. and quot; This comment sent the owner into a yelling rage that I have never experienced from anyone before. He began yelling at me and telling me that he did not ever want to speak to me again and that he was only upset earlier because I reminded him of how much money I had spent with him. He stopped using my name and began only referring to me as 'lady'. He told me that if I did not appreciate him that perhaps he would not do me the and quot;favorand quot; of replacing the unit and should take my business elsewhere. I asked him if we could have a civil conversation and he said NO. I then ended the discussion with him by saying thank you and hanging up. I spent the weekend wondering if I would ever have the unit replaced. Monday July 25, 2011 - Luckily I did hear from Mike, a technician with the company, stating that yes the unit would be replaced on Friday July 29, 2011. Friday July 29, 2011 - The entire AC unit was replaced - compressor and coils - at no charge. The technicians that did the repair, especially Matt were again nothing but professional, prompt, courteous and a pleasure to work with. Even though the actual repair issues were dealt with per our contract, I can not recommend this company to anyone due to the extremely unprofessional manner of the owner. Future potential customers should be aware of how this business owner conducts himself. He would be wise to take customer service lessons from his employees.
Description of Work: Auburn Heating Plumbing and Air Conditioning installed a new furnace and air conditioning system in our home on June 13, 2011. This system cost approx. $9000,00. This was done after discovering that the existing AC system in our house was no longer working and that the furnace, being original to the home, was not long for this world. The installation was done over a period of 2 days. The technicians who did the installation were professional, courteous and very pleasant to work with.

I woke up to near-record lows on a January morning to discover that our furnace wasn't working. Auburn Heating and Cooling's sticker was on the furnace from the previous owner; when I called at 8 am, the gentleman I spoke to remembered the previous owner from just our address! I explained that I had a doctor's appointment that morning, but that the babysitter would be here with my 13-month-old daughter. He said they could still get out as long as I was available by phone, which was great. At the time of my call, all their people were out from calls that had come in overnight, but he said that I could expect someone by noon. By the time I returned from my appointment at 11:30 am, Frank was just coming out after completing the job. He was very courteous, and my sitter said he was great, too. He checked over the furnace overall, and said we're probably good for a few more years.
