-Contractor failed to show up to job approximately 30% of the time contracted, kept giving excuse after excuse for no shows, wood floors installed improperly and has gaps between tongue and groove 3/4 by 31/2 boards as much as 1/4 inch. Drywall shows seam marks where not feathered out properly, has orange peel on paint. Some paint peeled because contractor faile to wipe down dust residue after mudding. Contractor estimated 3 months to complete work. Left job after 5 months with almost half the work remaining to be done. Failed to install crown molding in three rooms correctly. Failed to install transition boards in 4 locations. Failed to install trim around 3 fireplace hearths properly. Contractor used subcontractors to do several elements of work needed. Bruggeman Painting and Drywalling out of Botkins, OH did very unprofessional and unsatisfactory work and pulled off incomplete job at contractor's request. Two other subcontractors, New Knoxville Plumbing and Electric and Rinderle Custom Cabinets did satisfactory to excellent work respectively. I refused to pay contractor for last month of work billed until he completed entire job. Contractor filed a lien against house followed by foreclosure law suit for approximately $8000.00. I filed a counter-suit for approximately $60,000.00. We settled this dispute through mediation outside of court. Contractor dropped lien, agreed not to be paid and agreed to pay all costs of mediation and court filings.
