They came and gave a quote in January and did not leave a written quote asked them to send it it took two more call and three weeks. In February gave them the go ahead to do the work. It is still not done. I call every week and Kay answers the phone and tells me "she has to ask the guys" when they come in. Never calls me back like she says she will. I feel they keep telling me stories. First it was too wet and now she just never calls back. Willing to change my mind if they ever do the job. But as of right now it is obvious they don't want my money.

As you'll read in the other reviews of Arbaugh's Tree Service they are a totally top notch organization. They are professional but very friendly and approachable and strive to ensure the happiness of the customer. Our home was built in 1974 but we've only owned it for one year. We were sold on the beautiful lot with mature trees but it was obvious they needed a lot of work. After reading all the other reviews on Angie's List I decided to call Arbaughs and I'm VERY glad I did. I really appreciate that Mrs. Arbaugh always answers the phone and is very friendly and cooperative but it's obvious they run a tight ship. I called for an estimate and Mr. & Mrs. Arbaugh actually came to our house that evening as they had other work in the area. Mr. Arbaugh walked all around the property with me and truly listened to what I wanted but also made several helpful suggestions. We were very excited to have the process underway and were anxious to get on the schedule. They were patient while I aligned my finances for the work and were able to work me in to their schedule as soon as I was ready. The crew showed up in between other jobs and worked for a few hours on one day just to get a head start on all the work they had to do at my house. I was more than happy to see the work started. Even though they were returning the next day for the bulk of the work they still immaculately cleaned my yard so that it looked perfect when they left. They next day an even bigger crew showed up before 8 a.m. and really went to work. They each have their specific jobs to do and work well independently but also work together as a true team and they all seem to enjoy the hard work. There's no standing around with this crew. They're busy and in motion the whole time under the direction of Mr. Arbaugh, Jr. (Gary) who sets an excellent example of hard work for the rest of the crew. Gary is very friendly and was so patient to answer my questions, many of which I'm sure he's answered 100 times before. I was lucky enough to be at home to witness all the work and Gary kept me informed of what was happening and what was going to happen which gives the homeowner a great deal of comfort amongst all the activity. At one point they needed to bring their large bucket truck up onto my lawn in order to prune some of the large trees hanging over our roof. They were extremely careful and respectful of our property, laying down sheets of plywood under the tires of the truck so as to not damage the grass - much appreciated! We had a lot of work done which required Gary to go and empty the truck several times. I can testify that the work doesn't stop when the boss leaves the jobsite - it continues at the same brisk pace. It was after 4 p.m. when the work was winding down and the last braches were being ground into mulch (amazing machine they use!) but they spent another hour cleaning my property of every leaf, little twig, sawdust even removing a small brush pile that I'd planned to burn but was very happy to see removed. Mr. & Mrs. Arbaugh even came by the job site in the afternoon to a**** the progress and ensure that I was happy with the work. It's obvious they are a good, hardworking family who cares about their customers and employees. I can't stress enough what a top notch experience this was from start to finish. My neighbors were so impressed with the work that they're remained on my street for the last two days working for three other neighbors. In fact, as I write this review they're working at a home two doors down. Please don't hesitate to call Arbaugh's for any tree work, landscaping, or snow removal (yuck!) you may need. Thank you Arbaughs for another job well done!
Description of Work: Arbaugh's Tree Service removed 3 large locust trees, 1 large (dead) cherry, 1 large pine tree, 1 lilac bush, and a large row of thorny hedges. They also did a major trimming and shaping of 6 trees, installed a steel cable in our largest tree to hold the two sections of the tree together, treated 2 large ash trees to prevent infestation from the emerald ash borer, and ground all the stumps of the trees they cut down and a few others that had been left on the property.

I contacted Arbaugh to trim up and shape two Upright Arborvitae shrubs. That same day they sent someone out to leave a proposal for the work that I wanted completed. I notified them the next day that I accepted the proposal and that they could perform the work. They told me that they would get the job on the schedule and the work completed as soon as possible. Gary and his crew were doing another job in the area and were able to perform the work the next day (a Saturday). While doing this work Gary noticed a dead branch in a tree in the front yard and said he would remove it. While they were there we discussed trimming up a lilac tree in the backyard that has grown a little out of control. He took a look at it and he could do it for $20.00 over the orignal bid. I told him to go ahead with the work. Once they were all done trimming the shrubs and tree they did a thorough job of cleaning up the area. This is not the first time I have had Arbaugh Tree Service do work at my home and I have always been pleased with the results.

Arbaugh sent someone over to look at the tree and leave a written quote. I called back and had Arbaugh set up the removal at their earliest convenience. I also mentioned that I had an Angie's list 5% off coupon for services, which lowered the price to the $559.63 (including tax). I was not present when the tree was removed, but I stopped by the house this morning to take a look. Except for the area where the tree once stood (which is now covered by the ground-up shavings), you would never know a large tree had stood there. Very professionally done with great clean-up at a reasonable price. I highly recommend them.

1:00 p.m. I sat down and searched Angie's list for a snow removal company in my area. Gave them a call a little after one. By 2:30 Garry was here and my driveway was clear by 2:40. He even did some snow shoveling to clear some areas he could't reach with the plow and a little cleanup.

I called the Arbaugh Tree Service to request an estimate for the removal of the dying tree. It is a family owned business and all family members are truly professional. The father arrived promptly at the identified time, reviewed the tree and its place in my yard and also showed me another tree that should be trimmed. I was unaware that it was overhanging my roof and chimney. He spent appropriate time evaluating the situation and then prepared a written estimate for the work. I was amazed at the estimate since I had two other tree services give me unsolicited estimates which were, to me, just exhorbitant. I accepted the estimate and Mr. Arbaugh gave me an approximate date for the work to be done and told me I would be called the day before they would be coming to be sure that it was an appropriate date for me, too. After a call from Mrs. Arbaugh to check on the date, the work crew, managed by the family son, arrived on time and finished the job so quickly I could hardly believe it. Now I have to tell you, I live in a neighborhood where homes are very close together. My tree was two feet behind my kitchen window with part of my neighbor's fence just next to it. A garden shed blocks easy access to that area. In order to get to the tree, the workmen had to park in the neighbor's driveway, reach most of the tree using a cherrypicker and then climb over the fence to finish the job. Everything was done quickly and neatly with complete cleanup of all debris. All the work was completed in only one and one-half hours. I've already had two neighbors ask for the company name. I would recommend this company without reservation. They are amazing!

I am brand new to Pickerington, coming straight from Kentucky. I don't know anyone from here so I joined Angie's List to help guide my decisions. I found Arbaugh's on the list and picked them for 2 reasons: #1 --they have a "certified arborist" accreditation and #2--they are close to my home. Having that accreditation was important to me b/c it seemed the folks who owned the house before me did a real hatchet job to these beautiful trees. Carolyn was very nice on the phone and explained how the process would go and did confirm that Gary Jr (the certified arborist) would indeed be present if I scheduled the service--in fact, he is present at all of them. I scheduled a free estimate visit with Gary Sr. and my sweetheart, Chris, since I was out of town. On the day of the estimate, they were 90 minutes late but when Gary Sr. arrived, he walked the property with Chris and reviewed everything that needed to be done. I contacted Carolyn to confirm the services for 10/29 @ 8:00 am (today). It was going on 8:30 am when I called to see where the team was. I was concerned again that "being late" was starting to be a common occurrence. I spoke to Carrie and explained my frustration and she immediately addressed my concerns. She told me she would call me back with an update and she did in less than 5 minutes. The team was en route to me as we spoke. In addition, she apologized for any inconvenience we had experienced and explained to me that the flu (& H1N1) was keeping some of the workers home due to their children being sick. I truly appreciated her follow up and sincere candor. I told her had I known this via a courtesy call, I would not have been disappointed but more understanding. As long as customers know what is going on, we can flex. In fact, I would imagine many would reschedule so that parents can be home with their families. She assured me that I would not have to reschedule--the folks that were coming to my home were fine, save one who could not be there due to the illness. Again, Carrie reassured me and literately as we hung, the team pulled up. Gary Jr. (with Ronnie, Adam and Ed) arrived and they did an AMAZING job. Gary Jr. was the first one out of the truck and he greeted me. They got to work very quickly and this time Gary Jr. walked each tree with me and explained what his team would do to each one. As Gary and his team worked, they did not mind me asking them questions for further clarity and understanding about the nature of trees. Gary Jr. explained the worst thing anyone can do is hire just anybody to "service" trees b/c often times, they just think cutting off the limb is all it takes. That is to the tree's detriment. In addition, Gary Jr. was also very concerned about our property line. He wanted to be very respectful of our property and our neighbor's. They didn't even mind when I picked up my rake to help them (altho they never really needed it). They all had something to do--Ed and Adam were in the trees working on the interior branches, Gary Jr. was overseeing and also working on the exterior branches of all trees and Ronnie (and I) were picking up the lose limbs and leaves. Re: the Blue Spruce in the front of the house--upon further inspection, Gary Jr. recommended that it and the stump be removed b/c of the wind damage from earlier this year (pulled up a bit by the roots) and b/c of a bug infestation. Altho it was hard to let that one go, Gary Jr. said it really was the best thing, esp if we'd see more snow and wind like from this past year. He offered this service at a discounted rate and it seemed quite reasonable to me. This was not on his original work order, but I appreciate his expertise. Knowing his background, I asked him his opinion on our side yard bushes (more like a jungle). I was going to trim them back but wanted to know the best way to do it. He again provided some wonderful insight and helped me get started by removing a significant amount of larger brush within so it would be more manageable to complete this weekend. Altho the larger tree near the "jungle" technically didn't need any trimming at this time, Gary Jr. went ahead and evened it out so the entire tree took a nice shape. Again, this was not on the original work order, but he did it and at a discounted rate as well. Gary Jr. and his team completely raked and swept everything when they were finished as well--it's as if they were never even here. Altho it will be a couple years before these trees need work again, I know I will call Arbaugh's again. The only thing I would add, is to have that courtesy call if folks are running late or are sick. Communication is a beautiful thing and means a lot. I am completely HAPPY and MORE THAN SATISFIED with everything that Gary Jr. and his team did. Even tho they were short a worker due to illness, you couldn't tell. They all were pleasant, professional and had a tremendous amount of respect for my trees and property. Customer service is about giving what the customer wants when and how she/he wants it; exceptional service is exceeding that. Gary Jr. and his team went above and beyond. I appreciate all that he did in explaining things to me and all that his team did today. Without a doubt, I would recommend them to anyone. I can easily see why Arbaugh's has been chosen by the City of Pickerington to manage its foliage (Gary Jr. shared this). I (and my trees) are happy that we had the Arbough A-Team today. CALL THEM IF YOU NEED TREE SERVICE! PS--And Carrie / Gary Jr. if you are reading.. I hope everyone and their families are better soon. You are all in my thoughts.

Promptly responded to message. They didn't schedule a specific time to give me a quote, but showed up at a time when I happened to be home to I could ask questions. Good thing too because I chose them over a 30% lower bid because Gary Arbaugh sold me on the excellent job they would do grinding the stumps and cleaning up. And his crew absolutely delivered. The stumps were all ground below ground level and backfilled with wood chips and dirt including the large maple that had a root ball pushing above ground level. And absolutely every leaf in my back yard was removed including grass clippings on my patio that were not even part of the job. Everything was completed in four hours and most of that time was spent on the cleanup. Be advised that they do have to tow a stump grinder into the yard with a pickup truck, but they were careful to schedule when the ground wasn't too damp and there was no damage.

The experience was actually quick and they did a great job. The tree looks great. It is located in the center of our front yard therefore its appearance is important to us. The arborist was on sight during the work and the clean up was thorough. The tree looks like we wanted it to look after the work like a fresh hair cut would on a bushy head of hair. The elevating removes the lower branches and looks great. They even trimmed a few wild branches to give it a nice symetrical look. GREAT JOB GUYS!
