Talked to Tim a couple of days before so I knew what materials to have on hand. First guy arrived on time, second one was about 1/2 hour late. Showed first guy what was to be done then he got to work. Second guy seemed less knowledgable and slower than the other one. Paid for I think 1 extra hour, but if the second guy was a better worker, they could have finished everything in the designated time. Overall they were good not great, but would recommend for fairly simple tasks like we had them do.

Not perfect but a good job. Very responsive and professional. Good value.

We decided to go with another contractor that friends had recommended.

Overall, Tim's Home Improvement went very well. The pricing and work were to expectation and Tim was extremely nice. He even took the time to look at some non-related work and provided some advice. The only negative thing was that he didn't show up on time for his first appointment and I had to call. Tim apologized for running late with other appointments and we agreed on a new time. He met the time that was agreed.

I have had Tim do 3 different jobs. All three were done fast and professional. I will have him back for a couple of other jobs I have here. Thanks Tim

The arrived sharp on time and started working right away. We paid for 6 hrs work, two guys came (one would have been enough I believe), so they worked 3 hrs each. They needed one more hour to complete it, been working steady, so we said alright, go ahead finish it and we pay an extra hour. They did a fair job, nothing special, but just acceptable. A few minutes after they left we discovered that the chute was lose and we wouldn't be able to use. So we called and they promptly turned their car right back and fixed the mistake immediately. All was done in a professional manner. Reliable service.

I purchased the Handyman for a day deal through Angie's List and called the provider Tim to make sure that the kind of work I wanted to do was available through the special. I spoke directly with Tim and he was very nice. He said that they could do crown molding in my bedroom and in my hallway. I also wanted them to install a single line of some smaller molding about 3 inches below the crown in the bedroom only - the hallway would just be crown. The deal was for 8 hours of work - Tim said that he would send 2 men for 4 hours and it would be possible for both men to get the work done in the amount of time. It may also be the case that they may need an extra hour to finish the job and I could pay them an hourly wage for any additional time, which was reasonable. The first appointment I made needed to be rescheduled but that was fine, Tim told me then he would come himself. They day of the job, Tim sent two men, he was not one of them, that was a little disappointing as well, but I knew he was really busy and I thought he would be sending me capable men that could get the job done. They came and got started working and after about 4 hours I came up to check on them and they had done the crown molding in the bedroom and one wall had the extra single molding on it. I was very disappointed that with 2 men they didn't get more done in the bedroom and I paid them for an extra hour to get the one room (bedroom) done. My hallway was not done at all. In the past I have had a lot of projects done by a handyman that worked with me for years but he had moved and I needed to find another source. I saw him work through many different kinds of projects - so I have some experience with how things get done, I just can't do them myself. I thought this would be a good trial run to see if this would work for me, but it did not turn out. I will say that even though they took way longer than I ever thought they would for one room, they did a nice job on what they did. I was just worried that going forward in the future it would be costly to have people working per hour that you already know work pretty slow. These two men did do a nice job and were polite and nice. They did a great job cleaning up when they were done too. :)

This gentleman went out of his way to make immediate time to come and evaluate whether or not a particular post was load bearing or not. This needed to be decided before other contractors I had hired could continue with their work. He was totally accommodating, went out of his way, was courteous and polite and his charges were fair. I would highly recommend him.

No work was done. I called three times and Tim would not commit to a day for doing the work.

Purchased Big Deal ($299 for 3 rooms painted). Had the most nightmarish time trying to contact and confirm service with this provider. It was 2 weeks from purchase that we started trading emails and, after several times leaving my number, he finally contacted me...a month after I purchased this deal. Tim came over and inspected the site. I was going to be charged extra for wall repairs (additional $200 - very reasonable) bringing the total cost to $499. We had to provide paint (which was no problem). Altogether the cost would come out to $222 per room (not bad considering the additional work that had to be done). Tim originally wanted to do the work on Thursday 11/21 but informed me that one of his workers was in an accident so we decided to reschedule to Tuesday 11/26. I took off work and planned to be here all day with Tim's crew as he promised to make things right. After an hour of waiting (and no contact from Tim), I decided to take a shot and check the Angie's List site again in which I found that Tim inexplicably left ANOTHER message this time confirming a work day of 12/6!!! Amazed that once again, this provider has a problem with contacting me directly. What part of call me on my cell didn't he understand the first 3 times I left my cell and told him not to leave me messages on Angie's List? After much frustration I have had my fill with this provider and requested a refund on my Big Deal purchase as I will be looking for another provider to complete this work.

The offered price was $199.00 and was not realistic for the work I needed. So in the end I paid $460.00 which I think is very reasonable. These hot deals are sort of dumb. It really can set you up for unrealistic expectations.

They were okay, I'm not upset with the work that they did, it's just that the Big Deal wasn't really accurate for what I needed. They were just basically going to wash down and seal the floor of my deck, it didn't include like the rails, the steps, and stuff. It ended up being $460 and it was a $199 deal. As we think about it, it sort of set some bad expectations on the part of the customer because everybody's deck is different, I would not expect him to be able to do it for $199, it was more like a negotiation starting point. I don't think it was his fault and he told me he wasn't really thrilled with the Big Deals either and frankly I don't blame him. I make construction projects for a living and it seemed ridiculous for me that anybody would expect him to be able to do it for $199 so I totally understand that. It wasn't astronomically bigger than other decks, it was higher up and I had rails inside and out but he did what he was supposed to do and he basically did a good job of it. I'd be happy to recommend this guy again, but the deal I don't think that's realistic or fair to him. We have to coordinate, it did end up dropping in to watch over. The price was reasonable. He did a really good job and I'm pleased with the work. It was just really busy when I bought the deal and I understand it now, it was like you don't want somebody who is slow. I think like 14 or 15 years ago, a deck my size would cost you $400, the fact that he only charged me $460 was very good. He was there when he said he was going to be there. He did what he was supposed to do and that's all I could hope for in this kind of project.

He has missed multiple appointments. We would give more slack if he was more communicative. The last straw was he missed today's appointment when he said positively he would be here.

Job went great. I showed Tim what I wanted to do, his crew was able to come out and get it done quickly and on budget. It looks great and I greatly appreciated Tim's help with recommendations to make the deck the best it could be.

Due to an unfortunate, unexpected (and expensive) automobile repair, we have had to postpone our project. But...we will be calling Tim when we are ready to start in just a few months!! Tim is very easy to get along with and we felt comfortable with putting our home in his hands. We will be excited to start our project with him when the time comes!! Thanks Tim!

First off, when I first purchased the "Big Deal", I put in the notes that it needed to be scheduled over the phone, with my wife. WE never recieved any cointact, until we arrived home one day to find hand written note on our door, saying they had run out of time to get to us that day, and would come back on Monday. I had to call and leave a message saying that we were not going to be available that day, and to please call and schedule, as requested. Next, they came, put some chemicals on the deck, hosed it off (no power washer), and said they were done! I had to call back again, and leave another message for Tim, and indicate that I expected that the deck be actually power washed and cleaned, like it said in the ad. He then sent the crew back to actually do the job right. Finally, they came to put the sealant on. They did such a poor job of this, putting a barely existent thin coating on some spots, and completely missing others (I have pictures). They also slopped the coating onto my house aluminum siding (I have pictures), set their "paint cans" on my plastic outside storage area, where it left residue all over (I have pictures). In conclusion, I would not use them again, nor would I recommend them to others. I would think the whole point of doing a "Big Deal" would be to generate new customers. I'm not sure why you would do one, and then put so little effort and quality into doing it right, that you would not generate future business (let alone a positive review here). :-/

They came one day and it got to be too late. So, they came back the next day and did the work. It looks great. Cleaned and sealed.

They did a very good job with the deck. The deck is old and more than 25 years old. It was an exceptional job. It just looks great.

Nothing much to tell. They sprayed the floor, and hand-painted the rest. It took a while, but they did a very good job.

Tim visited the site as scheduled and reviewed the project. He did provide some good suggestions and we signed an agreement to to perform the work. The work was completed as promised. However, during the demolition of the old decks some of the existing siding was damaged. When he was asked about repairing the siding he stated that it was not part of the job and said we would need to get someone else to repair the damage. The construction was fairly well done but some of the miter joints were not acceptable and one of the columns needed additional support. He did state he would return to add some concrete but he did not return. Do - Remember to clarify all aspects of any project and be sure to get it in writing. Tim was paid in full and we did have someone else repair the siding.

Great about scheduling, quick and personable but not "salesy" He seemed to just tell you how it was, and they delivered on their word, when they said they would. I truly was amazed.

Prior to arriving, there was some confusion on what was covered with the offer. Provider agreed to honor the offer and negotiate additional costs only if required. Work team arrived and power washed the deck but missed the benches and rails by mistake. After a phone call to the provider, work team was here the next day to wash the missed areas. Deck was sealed a couple of days later and looks great. I called the provider to make sure there were no additional costs. He responded within the hour and told me not to worry and he hoped I enjoyed the deck. Great to deal with and would call again in the future!

They did a very thorough job and the deck looks like new again. We are very pleased with the service and would recommend their services to anyone who asks.

I have waited this long to write this review because I wanted it to be fair. Right out of the gate we had some communication problems, which delayed the start of the project, but we were all able to work through those. Once the actual demolition and construction started, Tim's crew was punctual and dedicated. The actual work schedule was stuck to, except for a few interuptions by Mother Nature. Everything we had ask Tim to do, he did. He even came back a week later to correct any small cosmetic issues that we discovered. I would like to also point out that the reason we chose Tim over others, is that he recommended an change to our roof line inorder to prevent snow and ice buildup during the winter. None of the other contractors mentioned that at all. As for the completed project my wife and I couldn't be happier! The longer we enjoy our new deck, the better in gets. And to give Tim the seal of approval, my Father-In-Law has had nothing but complements about the finished project.

Tim and his crew did a great job on renewing a balcony/deck for which I had made some very detailed plans and drawings, I had asked that he follow them to the letter but to tell me if he thought there was a better way. (I've had it with other contractors who were going to do it their way no matter what you say.) And he did have some good suggestions and went out of his way to please us. This was the second job he did for us and we rehired him because of his professional know-how and friendly attitude. The price was reasonable.
