Hello There, This is the owner of Tim's Home Improvement. We have been in this business for over 30 yrs. We are five employees strong including myself. I am a Hands on Contractor! Nothing gets done without my personal touch or approval period! You will deal with only me and will see me working on every job I put my name on. We are a full service company, meaning we do project from start to finish. We are not a sell you then sub the work out to God knows who company! I have been doing this since I graduated high school at 17. I spent nine years in the carpenters union and had top honors in my 4 year class. I love working with my clients and helping them with ideas that I have so much experience with. I think that is what separates me from some younger guy's who don't have as much knowledge and experience working with people. I truly love my job and helping my clients turning their dreams or needs into realities! Two of my sons are now aboard and eager to follow my lead. I can promise you professionalism, honesty and what I believe to be very affordable! We take our customers ratings very personally and work hard to keep our A rating! I look forward to working with all our Angie's list customers. It's always been a pleasure. Thanks, Tim.

Great experience from start to finish. Tim is a straight shooter and walked me thru all of my options. He kept me apprised of when we would need to schedule and then his team came out and did a great job. Ran into one small issue afterwards (which was partially my fault) and Tim was prompt to send someone out again to make sure it was all good to go. Great crew and great service. Highly recommend!.

We contacted Tim's Home Improvements through Angie's list for two main projects in our house: basement finishing and crown molding on the main floor. When we initially called Tim, he returned our calls promptly and came out twice to discuss the project. He and his crew work on the project and completed the work in a timely fashion. Tim is honest, professional, and very experienced. He indeed has a broad based work experience that was very useful in completing the work elegantly. We are very grateful to Tim and his crew. He was physically present on site for the work. He addressed all our concerns and questions during the project. We will definitely hire him in the future.

I initially purchased the deal about a year ago and after speaking with him orginally, he had advised me there was no rush for the services. I decided to wait a couple months. After attempting to reach him when I was ready, I would call and leave messages but he never called me back or even followed up with me. There is no excuse for this!

In the beginning Tim was very helpful with the planning and the price was acceptable. When we signed the contract he asked for 1/2 down and we paid him $5200.00 and he was to start the work the end of April. Due to the weather we had to reschedule for mid May. He came out a put 1 support in the ground. 2 weeks later the concrete guy came and it the contract Tim was to pay him. He did the work and he wanted his money. I called Tim and he came out but could only pay 1/2 of it. I paid the other 1/2 then and there even though it was in the contract for him to pay. We made some changes to add windows to the project. It took Lowes 10 days to get the windows in and they set in front of my garage for 2 weeks before Tim showed up again. Tim and I had some disagreements along the way, mainly about not showing up. I was always trying to find out when he was coming back and he said I was harassing him. Maybe I was, but I wanted the work to get completed. I am now going to make a very long headache shorter. After Tim started he ask for another payment of $6200 so we paid that like a fool. Tim and I parted ways Mid August and the project uncompleted. All I know is he packed up everything and drove off. We call the city inspector in and her is what he found: Pitch of roof was only 2.2 and should have been 4.2 or more. Snow and ice will buildup and it will not drain off. Outside electric was hooked up to a 40 amp breaker. Fire hazard. New roof was built over and old existing roof. Fire hazard Did not seal around new construction and water run underneath it and into our room. Pine board inside the room is off. The seams are uneven. Ran 14/2 wiring for a 3 way switch. Electric not connected in side of room. Outside not completed. Asked Tim about it on the last day and he said he did know how to do it. Even though it was in our contract. Did not finish the electoral work inside the home. We still have lights that do not work. There is so much more that I can't say it all here. We had another contractor come out and he is tearing alsmost everything Tim did because it is not up code. The total cost for the new contractor is $15000.00 to repair and rebuild the room. What starting out at only $15000 now is $30000. I know we had to reschedule 2 weeks because my farther past away and he lives out of town and that can put a project behind, but I am not talking about the time it is about the poor quality of work. Tim will give you all the excuses why it was done this way and that we caused the delays and so forth. Tim will blame it all on us, but we never pounded a nail in the project. He is going to say I am hard to work for and I am. He is going to tell you that the inspector didn't know what he was talking about. the new contractor we hired met with the inspector to go over what was wrong and a building permit was pulled. We had to rip out most of the bad work he did. PLEASE...PLEASE...BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY WE HAVE JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE ROOF HE PUT ON OVER OUR ROOM WAS NOT LEVEL. IT WAS OUT OF LEVEL BY 3 INCHES. HAD TO BRACE AND RAISE THE END TO LEVEL IT.
Description of Work: We hired Tim to add a screened in porch on the back of our house and put new garage doors in and put new siding on the garage and on the new addition.

He also changed the conditions of the deal and told me he would send 2 men for 20hrs instead of the one guy for the week. I then responded on 3/23/14??.after that, nothing. Months later I emailed him on 6/27/14 but never got a response. This guy was unprofessional when it came to following through in terms of communication.

I bought a package from angie's list back in january 2014 for exterior window/door caulking- waited until weather was warmer- I got few appointment dates in April, May and June that did not work with the company. I got frustrated about that and wrote a bad review on Angie's list... FInally two weeks ago, I called Tim again and got an appointment for august 20. He did complete the job and helped me with the interior front door and gaps in garage. I am satisfied with the job. I will use the company for sure in the future.

Sometimes I just don't get it! The job went great and she was happy when we left. For 99 dollars we caulked all the windows, even the second floor that we didn't have to do for the price but we did. I always take the reviews seriously and it hurts when we get a bad review. I don't know what more we could have done or what she expected for 99 dollars which included all the silicone! But thanks for responding just the same. Tim.

Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! You have been warned. Tim the owner was originally a pleasure to deal with and eager for the business. I actually had other projects I was going to consider for him. The first day it looked great and I wrote a raving review. We couldn't walk on the deck and it is on the main floor above a walkout basement, not allowing us to see the house. After a few days we notice streaks and footprints, when we walked outside we notice large amounts of overspray all over the siding. Even as high as 4 feet high on the siding. His guys were aware of it as they used stuff to attempt to remove it but it actually discolored my siding. Tim seemed dumbfounded because they always tarp. Well they didn't tarp. It was a Friday and this crew wanted to start their weekend fast, sadly at our expense. I first emailed the owner, he was prompt with an email back, I stayed on top of it but winter quickly set in. He finally came out to inspect their work in the beginning of April. Granted it was winter so I was patient, plus no outdoor entertaining. It is now June, 9 months later. I have streaks on the deck, work-boot large footprints, bleached siding, stain on my vinyl windows and still no sign of having this repaired. I have been very nice and patient as you can read below, however, it is time to warn people. I hope to give a good update SOON! A nicely stained deck, clean or new siding, vinyl windows without stain on the frames and a place meant for outdoor living without embarrassment. Thanks, Tim.Joe Bystricky5/1/2014Thank you Tim, Can you call me on Monday to let me know so I can let the tenant know what day/days you maybe there?Joe Bystricky5/28/2014Hi Tim, You seem like a good guy and I know the weather has not been easy. However, I have a deck that looks streaky and siding that is destroy and stain on my windows and trim. It has been 7 months. I met with 6 weeks ago to talk about a remedy and I feel I have been very patient. I ask you if you were me, when do you get upset? I hope you would say I have been patient and understanding, even tried how to make it worth your while to send a guy out and have enough work for a day. Knowing I bought a coupon off of Angie's list, I wanted to work in some up sell for you to insure a quality job. I received crap work and I was still understanding that sometimes your best people have bad days and make mistakes. Alan assured me there was never a tarp up. My patience is beginning to wear very thin and I would expect some resolutions quickly. Even in the rain, you can hang siding. I would like a drop dead date I can expect you to fix what your crews did to damage my home. I don't like to see what could be a good relationship destroyed because of a lack of follow through and living up to doing quality work. I was nice enough to write a review to help your business and lie, please make my review the truth. Thank you, Joe 440-476-0425Tim's Home Improvement5/28/2014Hi, yes you have been very patient! I have been in a bind due to one man injured and another diagnosed with cancer that he is getting treatment for and almost back. I am sorry and know this is not your problem. Unfortunately being short and involved in two jobs I cant break away till done. I have a siding comp. I have used and am trying to get a day they will commit to. This will give you a good job and help me out. Will know something deff. by weeks end. I really am sorry and am trying to make it all work and am losing the battle! According to the other 100 reviews you should use my company! This is what happened: He bought a big deal last fall. We went out and stained his deck. It looked good to all of us and he wrote us an A review! It was windy that day and some stain over sprayed on some siding. We tried to clean it but I told him we would have to replace I met with him on three diff occasions. It was late in the year and winter hit and we decided to wait till weather got nice. This Spring I met with Him again and we confirmed what we were going to do and he also had several other projects he wanted done. Unfortunately we have been to busy to do them. I explained to him that I was two men short do to bad circumstances. I am sorry I didn't fix the siding in time. The bottom line for me is that we no longer stain decks!! We just build them. We build hundreds of decks and people always ask, will you stain it also? So we did for a while and most were great. But we are now just focusing on what we do best, build them! Sorry we did not get to your project in time. Tim

A leaky shower drain dampened the ceiling in our Family Room. The plumber contracted to repair the drain needed to access the problem area by cutting a 2' x 2' hole in the ceiling. Thus, we researched area dry-wall providers on Angie's List and found Tim. He worked with us on good dates and times and showed up promptly on the mutually agreed upon time slot. He performed the repair to our complete satisfaction and we would contract with him again or recommend him to others.

Tim was a very pleasant gentleman. The first visit we had set up he never showed for and did not call to say he would not make it. I was a little disappointed in this since I had cleared my afternoon for him to come. But he did accommodate me when we did schedule things so that was appreciated. Overall job was fair but old caulk was not removed before applying new and it was cracked and dried out. I hope the new caulk will hold up after being applied over old. And it was hard to tell for sure since new caulk was clear, but it appeared to only be applied where old caulk was actually cracked. I had expected entire window to be caulked. I also discussed the possibility of hiring him for some additional jobs since he is a general contractor, but never heard back from him. He seemed eager to get the work and had some excellent ideas I was excited about. Was to email me some estimated within a few days but never heard back from him. Comment to Tim's Response: I don't when you tried to get hold of me because I never received any calls or messages from you. You also had my email address as well as the fact we had communicated messages back and forth on this site. You also know where I live and could have dropped off your suggestions and quotes or mailed them. I was able to be reached, I just don't think you wanted the job. I didn't feel it was a difficult remodel project I had ask you about, but since you did maybe that is why you weren't interested. And regarding your comments about the job, I know it was a Big Deal that I purchased, but it was never stated if you buy the deal you will get sub-standard service and it won't be done correctly. I also had to take off most of the weather stripping around the doors because it was too thick and I could not close or lock the doors. I have read some other comments made regarding your services and you are always trying to make it look like the customer was the one with the problem if they say something negative.

Thanks for the B rating. We will improve on this to make it an A next time! Unfortunately I had the hardest time getting ahold of member. I left a voice mail and had estimates all worked up for you.We had some great ideas of how to do some difficult remodeling. Please call me if you read this. As far as the caulking goes, we use a clear silicone so it wont crack like the old. This is a 99 dollar deal so we take all loose caulking off but we don't have time to scrape every window of the 30 yr old caulk. This job is to make sure you are sealed up for the winter! Thanks again, Tim.

Scheduling a job, showing up and on time and finishing when promised is a major asset to any company. They need to work on this

Thank you for the A review, our goal as always is to complete the job in a professional manor. The main focus of coarse is on quality! In this business due to a counter not quite being finished or we run into a unforeseen glitch it can take a few more days to complete. Most people understand when you take on a large project there will be some small glitches. I need to explain this more thorough to my clients. I try to get in and out as fast as I can so everybody is happy! I am glad you have your awesome new kitchen! Enjoy and thanks again, Tim.

Basically I think Tim is probably a good contractor if you use him for a bigger job but the big deals squeeze the profit out of these little jobs and you may get substandard work.
Description of Work: Sanded and finished drywall on the ceiling. The big deal was for about $90 for 3 hrs. Tim said it would take longer because of drytime of the mud and the need to add a nailer to better support the new sheet of drywall. He also suggested smoothing out a seam that was starting to show on the wall while they waited. This other work was supposed to be for the extra $100. They never added the nailer or touched the wall. The guys also left a trail of drywall mud on the basement steps when they went down to clean their tools.

Hello and thanks for the review. I know we got the B because it took us longer than it should have to get to this job. We did not expect to sell so many big deals and it did back us up. We are sorry and working on this. I see we got all A's for the work that was done! Thanks again, Tim.

The actual service when he showed up was fine and he did what he needed to do. However, we had a problem with scheduling. He explained he did not realize how much business he would get from offering the Big Deal. My husband had to take two days off work to accommodate his schedule. On one appointment, he never showed up and on their reschedule, he arrived an hour late. I had to call them several times to follow up with the appointments because he never got in touch with us. He has several excuses from being weather related, vehicle trouble, or GPS not recognizing the address. He never once apologized. When they did show up for the appointment, there were four men on the job. It looks as though the work was done properly, but they left behind a huge mess. It also appears that they may have accidentally taken one of our tools with them as well. We did have to pay for some additional time because the job was a little bigger than the deal had covered. The whole experience was not a positive one. We were surprised because he had good reviews. We will never use him again.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for three hours of drywall repair.

we did have some scheduling problems and I am sorry for this. This job required more than a three hr. Big deal ! So I had four guys there to accommodate him! This is the first Ive heard about leaving a mess, especialy with 4 guys to clean, that's very unlike us! Anyway the first thing said was when we got there we were good and did what we had to to complete the job. That is the goal. Thanks for the review, I will use it to better ourselves.

Nothing was done due to inability to schedule. Provider did acknowledge that he had more business than he expected from the promotion. In the future I will use Angie's List to identify qualified providers who have great customer feedback for specific projects. We did give it one more attempt morning of February 27; unfortunately Tim never showed us and never called. I would be living in a cardboard box if I provided this level of customer service - never again.
Description of Work: After a couple of false starts Provider scheduled drywall repairs for morning of 2/4/14; emailed me night before wanting to come in the afternoon afternoon - I had already made necessary arrangements for the morning. I used message board to request reschedule and offered several dates - did not hear back via message board or phone. I want a refund of the $89 paid in advance for three hours of service -

We are sorry we were not able to perform our services for this customer. I know they would be happy. We got caught up on a job that took a little longer than we expected. We did make it the same day but owner could not be there.Again, we sold 10 times as many BIG DEALS than we thought we would. Please look at reviews we actually worked for and again we are very sorry ! Tim.

(1) I described the damage in great detail; he said if he couldn't finish in the 3-hour "Big Deal" timef rame, he would charge $50. extra per hour. I said no, I can't afford any extra, and he said we'll see what happens. (2) what happened is that he brought his son to do the work while he asked me to show him other possible jobs (deck, powder room sink, painting, etc). (3) on the phone he said they use quick-drying compound so they can sand it in the 3-hour period. They did not sand anything!! They left a rough job which still needs more patching & sanding. (3) He also came without any drop cloths, strange for a drywall job which ALWAYS needs them. He went ahead without telling me he wasn't going to use drop cloths (I was working in another room) and got scraped paint & dust all over the area, and on some nearby electronics which he had not covered; and did not clean up. (4) I provided my own drop cloth for the family room, but he still got 3 splatters of compound on my Media Center, and left the mess & drop cloth for me to deal with. (5) They left the mess, in the foyer, hearth room and family room, and I had to clean it!!! I also had to vacuum my electronics. (6) He seemed determined to add cost to the Big Deal. He showed me a spot of slight molding (about 5 inches square) and demanded $50. to "do it right." I wish I had called Angie right away; I didn't know what to do; I thought it must be something difficult, but it turned out that it wasn't!! It took about 5 minutes to scrape that out and go over it with compound, and he demanded $50. This was a colossal rip-off. It was nothing different -- and definitely NOT an extra hour -- than the Big Deal that I already paid for. (7) He gave me price quotes for several other things, and I have gotten better prices on everything -- example, paint ceilings he said $560; I have a painter doing it for $300. It is not a 2-day job! (8) I will not contact Tim again for any of my other jobs. I am not interested in high pricing and a mess to clean up. "Fool me once....."

I am extremely confused! When I left Member was extremely happy and wanted me to give her prices on basically remodeling her whole home! Member said she was in financial trouble with the home so I tried to give her the best prices I could.( definatly in line). I even gave her a price on rebuilding her deck which is my normal price and she talked me down 500.00. I really was trying to help this lady. The bottom line for me is, we fixed 4 major areas in three different rooms and did a good job for 149 dollars. I personally worked with my son on this job. Again, she was very happy after looking at the work. Ps. we were off to buy a new drop cloth when she insisted we use the one in garage, which we did! Good luck contractors! I spent a lot of time with a ton of estimates for her and did a good job. Sorry you are having such trouble! Good luck to you.
