I called Jeffreys a few weeks ago to inspect and clean my fireplace and chimney. I had built a fire, and smoke poured into the room no matter what I did with the damper. Todd showed me that the damper was no longer working due to rust. He also showed me cracks on the walls of the fireplace and a rusted-out hole in the chimney pipe. (That wasn't surprising as the house was built in 1976.). He advised against using the fireplace again as there was a real risk of burning down the house. He quoted me a price of $1500 to replace it. He explained that installing the new fireplace would require opening a hole in that end of the house to remove the old one - much easier, cleaner, and less expensive than removing the bricks around the fireplace inside the room. Todd refused payment for inspecting the chimney, on the grounds that he didn't clean it. I argued until he accepted a token amount! Today Todd and his son arrived promptly at 10:00 am. They removed the siding and the structural items from the outside of the house, pulled out the old fireplace and put the new one in place, along with the new chimney pipe. They carefully adjusted it to fit and sealed the edges so no air would escape. Todd even ground a bit off the bricks on one side so that the doors would fit just right. After they finished the installation, they replaced everything on the outside of the house so neatly that you cannot tell it was ever removed. They thoroughly cleaned everything they had touched and carried away every last jot of debris. I first dealt with this company in 2003 when we bought the house. They did the home inspection of the fireplace and chimney and we were very pleased with their service. A few years ago they replaced part of the chimney accessories on the roof and again did an excellent job. Every time I deal with Jeffeeys I am impressed by their professionalism and business ethics. They always explain just what is required and how they will go about the job. They are also truly nice guys and a pkeasure to work with. Nick, Todd's son, arrived on time and was courteous and professional. I don't know how I could ask for a better experience with a service provider. He was thorough and helpful, provided advice and recommendations (although none implied he wanted to "grow the job"). If you need this service, call this company!
