Greg was very polite, punctual, and prompt. He was lovely to meet with and seemed very knowledgable about his work and had ideas of his own to share with us. He was very friendly and I enjoyed meeting him. We ended up going with a different contractor who we felt had a more reasonable budget and idea of our financial idea for the house. I would definitely reccommend Greg to friend and family.

Thanks for the overall positive review [Member name removed]! And yes, scheduling this work seemed a bit difficult from my perspective too as we had to rely on small windows of matching availability in both [Member name removed] and our busy schedules for access to the house to accomplish this project. I really like your remodel ideas, [Member name removed], for your house and thank you for the opportunity! Thank you Angie's List for the lead!

I called Greg to inquire about redoing my porch. He answered all my questions on the phone and them came out to my home to assess the project. He provided a quote and work list in a very timely manner. My schedule was very hectic at the time. Greg was VERY patient in working with my schedule. The only reason I did not select Greg was the other bid was 5% lower (and same level of work and service). I was very happy with the way he answered all my questions, the details provided in the quote and his professionalism. I would not hesitate to contact him again for a future project.

I sent a message through their website detailing the work that I needed done and requesting an estimate. It took several days to get a response and I was out of town on vacation by then. When I got back into town I replied to the e-mail regarding a time to meet for the quote. I offered to meet over my lunch hour if it needed to be during the day and said that I could be flexible with the time. That was over two weeks ago and never got a response back. Needless to say, I decided to go with a different contract. If someone isn't going to respond promptly while trying to get a quote, I don't have a lot of faith about how the project will go. We are looking for someone who we can work with on several projects and will be reliable.

I just wanted to say that I am very sorry that I did not make for a quicker response and meeting time with (removed member name). I dropped the ball-not out of ill intention or unprofessionalism per se-just in the midst of our incredibly busy schedule, the process of setting up this meeting fell through the cracks. I am very very sorry! I would bitterly disagree with (removed member name) that our services would have been proportionately poor as this particular response time may indicate to her. We do offer quality services and for this we stay very busy and I am one of those few construction business owners who takes such pride in our work, that I desire to provide personal on site management and manual work which unfortunately stifles a balance for the need for me to make for more efficient reply and contact with potential customers. I will chalk this up as a lesson learned and I am very sorry (removed member name)! I hope your project goes well. Greg

I would recommend Greg Rogers to anyone looking for a general contractor. After purchasing our first home using a remodel mortgage, we had to fill out countless forms, and Greg had to provide seemingly endless documentation to the bank in order for us to close the loan. However, Greg was gracious and patient with us as we got everything sorted out. Once we could start the work, Greg had wonderful recommendations for suppliers (J&N Cabinetry is wonderful) who took great care of us and helped us find our way in the new world of home renovation. Greg does a lot of the work himself, so when he gives you a time estimate, it's pretty spot on. He's laid back but professional, and works very hard. He sent us email updates and kept a detailed record of everything, so we knew exactly where we stood at the end of the day, financially. And overall, everything went very quickly. The longest wait was on our granite countertop, but that was because the supplier had some backlog. All in all, we started work in early December, and we were done by mid January. Not bad for a kitchen remodel! Everything turned out wonderfully--our kitchen is just what we wanted, and we came in under budget thanks to everyone's willingness to keep us in the correct price range! The hardwood floors are beautiful and the bathroom floor was just what we needed to tone down a colorful bathroom. We can't thank Greg enough for his kindness and flexibility, and we are incredibly happy with the work he did. You'll love working with Greg!
Description of Work: Complete kitchen gutting and remodel (cabinets, flooring, countertops) no painting (by homeowners choice), addition of additional outlets throughout the house (grounded and ungrounded), plaster repair, bathroom floor replacement, hardwood refinishing to three bedrooms and upstairs hallway, gutter repair, some exterior painting.

Working with Greg was a great experience. I was very happy with how the house turned out. He exceeded my expectations.
Description of Work: I hired The Builders LLC to help remodel a rental house in Madeira. Greg did some drywall work, hung the new doors and installed my kitchen. The kitchen included building soffits, installing the cabinets, counters, appliances, hardware and tile backsplash. I was really impressed with his attention to detail and the quality of his work. On a personal level, Greg is very honest, dependable and takes great pride in his work. The house turned out great, and I'm able to get more rent from it as a result.

Overall it went very well. The Builders (Greg) took time to understand our needs and constraints (budget and time). He provided good estimates of both time and cost and advised when changes or requests to the original plan would result in a shift in the either the time or budget estimate. He was also open to us (home owner) doing some of the work to help cut costs. Routinely touched based to provide updates and next steps and was available to discuss any issue or concerns before and during the process. The outcome of the project was great, his work and the recommmendations for other contractor help turn our outdated kitchen into a great place to hang out. Quality of the work wasgreat as well as the price and time to complete. Also served as a good intermediary when other companies to provide additional knowledge.
Description of Work: Majority of the work pertained to a kitchen remodel. The work performed included moving plumbing and electrical, structural work by opening up a load bearing wall between the the kitchen and living room, drywall work, and hanging cabinets (not building them). Additionally, provided great recommendations for a flooring company and cabinet makers.

He lives right here in Norwood. We looked at his past job experiences and price, and that is what made us decide to go with him. He was great! I would recommend him not only for kitchen remodeling but other remodeling as well. We have asked him for advice on our deck since we just bought a hot tub. We asked his advice on the stability of the deck even though he didn't originally build it. We could ask him about anything and he would know. It is great to feel that stability with someone. He was here everyday. He was clean, whereas other contractors are sloppy and don't do a complete job. I have a dog and he was nice to him.

We got a number of bids, and they came in the middle. Overall, they did a pretty good job. However, they didn't clean up on a regular basis, which was very frustrating. They also cut corners on some of the work at the very end. I'm not sure that I would use them again, but you get what you pay for. A lot of the job was very rough, which I didn't like.

Response from THE BUILDERS LLC
My name is Greg Rogers, owner of The Builders, LLC and I will honestly say that working with the member and her family and the completion of a multi phase project was excellent and the negative overtones in this review are very surprising. I enjoyed making the member's aquaintance as well as her husband's and they have a beautiful family. I am happy to see that Angies List allows unbiased opinions to be openly expressed toward any contractor -although the bitterness I hear in this review I really had not heard about when on the job-and this is my fault for not proactively inspiring better communication. And just to address a couple of particulars: WE NEVER CUT CORNERS! We make mistakes as all persons do (we fix 100% we find) and quality of workmanship is always going to be subject to relative opinions. But the project being "rough" and the cutting corners suggestion I had never been aware of as I would have surely tried to fix as we always strive toward leaving our customers with an exemplary final product-regardless if our project price is 30% less than our competitors and/or lower than our standard pricing. I had even thought that we went over and above by items such as recessing a custom cabinet into an already built wall at no cost, insulation upgrades at no cost and others. And as far as the negative slant toward our responsiveness and punctuality, I do not remember this being a problem and never knew it was an issue. I do remember a lot of snow last winter (the house on a steep driveway) Maybe this caused daily delays that maybe I should have been more communicative about. But I am sorry about this and never knew it was an issue. On a more positve note, I remember a list of a number of mini-projects that were necessary to be complete prior to the main projects and were mandated to be complete prior to the member and her family moving in to this new house. This required schedule juggling with my company and for two of my subs and we completed in perfect timing prior to the move. Lastly, in construction, there will always be dust and tools and materials around-some will call this a "mess" and another will be more understanding and if I knew that the member was disappointed in this area, we would have surely adjusted accordingly. But thanks for the constructive criticism. I really really try to provide the very best quality product and really really try to give economical prices-and this is especially pleasing to me when offering affordable project pricing toward growing families like the member's. Thanks!

The best thing I can say is that the owner or the company Greg Rogers is exceedingly polite and very hardworking. He offered solutions to problems that came up. On the other side we think that we caught him in the middle of the very hot summer and there were some long faces in between some waiting time there that we hoped that things would be a little sooner, but really that was rather minor compared to the really solid job that they did. He is a really fine human being and he was always willing to discuss the timing and also apologized for some of the delay. Some of the delay was the result of a sub-contractor roofer who had some problems getting back in a timely fashion. Everything got ruffed up nicely and the roofer did a nice job and I think it was a pretty positive experience.
Description of Work: We used the Builders LLC in August or September and they constructed a new large dormer in our attic.
We have worked with Greg and The Builders before and have always been pleased with their work and their prices. We had obtained estimates from larger carpentry shops for the same job and been turned away by the high price. One shop had quoted a price for just the large set of wall shelves that was higher than The Builders price for all 5 things they completed. We like to do our own painting and our experience is The Builders will work with you to allow you to complete whatever portion of the job you wish to cut down on expenses. The Builders provides thorough job proposals and estimates. We had a few days of miscommunication when we thought Greg was supposed to show up and he didn't come but these were easily cleared up and he is reachable and returns calls fairly promptly. He also communicates by email. He does sometimes have several jobs going on simultaneously and he budgets time as the various projects require/progress. It took several weeks to completely finish our job with Greg coming some days for a short time and other days being here all day. We did not mind this as we believe he does quality work. Our kitchen was being remodeled at the same time he was here so everything was disrupted anyway. Greg does most of the work himself but has a brother who does electrical. We appreciate the personal service we have received from Greg and The Builders. While we have used The Builders for smaller jobs involving individual rooms in our house they are able to do any kind of remodeling work no matter what the scale or scope. We have recommended this company to several friends who have seen our projects.
Description of Work: 1. 6'x42" stationary bookshelves built as a divider between kitchen/family room. Unit built of cabinet grade hardwoods and plywoods. Custom designed with a quarter round shelf on one end. Trimmed with decorative molding in front. Outlet installed in the base of cabinet on the kitchen side. Cost of $970 did not include painting. 2. 14" floor to ceiling custom built bookshelves/cabinets along one wall of a room. Greg adopted and customized a Yankee Workshop design for this job. Upper cabinets had shelves on an adjustable track system. Base was deeper with cabinet doors. Crown molding installed all along top of unit next to ceiling. Toe kick area at the bottom. Built of cabinet grade plywood with poplar trim. Re-routing of a double switch into the next room. Price of $2,450 does not include painting which owner completed. 4. Installation of an overhead light in center of the room and changing of live outlets for wall switch to operate. 5. Install crown molding in one room.

Greg and his brother Gary did almost all of the work themselves. They built the foundation, put up walls and ceiling, added insulation and put up all the drywall and molding. They did have a roofer put on shingles and an electrician finish the can lighting. Greg moved our existing sliding glass door from what used to be our back wall and and installed it in the new addition so that it would open out onto our deck. He built a small closet for us in the room and snaked the wires from the dvd player (in the closet) through the wall so that we could connect them to the TV, which we hung on the wall. Gary dug a trench from our addition in the backyard out to the street and installed a drainage pipe.
Description of Work: We had Greg add 250 square feet to our family room, drywall both the old family room and the addition, and and build a small bridge to connect the existing deck to the new section of the family room.

Greg was impressive by providing a thorough proposal detailing the Framing, insulation, electrical, drywall, doors, trim, flooring and bath. Included was an $800 allowance for the bath and $2200 for the flooring. They said it would take about 4 weeks but it did not take that long. They began work on March 3, 2008, shortly after I agreed to the contract. When they came they worked hard so that results could be seen as they went along. All workers were polite and professional. The job was finished on March 25th, and that did not include working daily on my place. The end result was that you could not see where the door and wall had been. Overall, the job was done well.
Description of Work: Greg Rogers and his brother, Gary, completed finishing a basement of approximately 900 square feet. Before they started, Greg removed a side door and wall entering into the basement in order to give access. They performed most the work themselves except for some electrical and plumbing. They put in a bath with a shower. They did everything to finish the basement which was open end, except for painting which was not included in our contract. Two storage rooms were left with doors and lighting in them. Carpeting was included through the contract but installed by a company provided by Greg.

Greg Rogers was a blessing to work with. I was afraid when my husband and I embarked on this remodeling that our troubles would be with the contractor and not the kitchen designer/cabinet order. To our delight, he was very good to work with and I am happy that was the case since it is him we deal with on a daily basis and is in our house. From all the contractor estimates we got, Mr. Roger's estimate was the only one that detailed/spelled out room by the room the work to be done and the associated cost. Any changes or alterations that came after were communicated via email and signed off on if it affected the bottom line. Furthermore Mr. Rogers was more than patient when the cabinet order got delayed 8 weeks beyond the estimated delivery date and all the order mistakes. He kept calling and checking on the order status so he could come and finish his work. I would recommend him in a heartbeat and we still have some work and will surely contact him in the near future.
Description of Work: We had some major work done at the house. Greg Rogers prepped (demolition and cleanup) the kitchen area for the new cabinets, obtained all the required permits, tiled the floor, and installed the cabinets and appliances. The hardwood flooring, HVAC, plumbing, electric work, and painting were all subcontracted to great individuals/companies. In addition to the kitchen, Mr. Rogers did our washer/dryer room, remodeled our powder room, installed a new railing system for our staircase, and installed two new French doors! The work was extensive and done right!! The project totaled about $120,000+ (contractor fee, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, hardwood flooring, tiling, appliances, fixtures, painting...etc. everything!)

GREG ROGERS' COMPANY, THE BUILDERS, WAS THE FIRST REFERRAL NAME WE USED AFTER JOINING ANGIE'S LIST. MR. ROGERS MADE HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS AND SAVED US MONEY BY SIMPLIFYING OUR DESIGN. HE WAS POLITE AND VERY PROMPT AT RETURNING CALLS AND HIS WORKMANSHIP WAS EXCELLENT. HE WAS EXTREMELY CAREFUL ABOUT DUST AND MESS. WE DID PURCHASE OUR OWN DOOR, SHUTTERS AND FANS SO THE AMOUNT PAID DOES NOT REFLECT THIS COST TO US. GREG ROGERS WAS QUITE WILLING TO WORK WITH US TO CUT COSTS, ALLOWING MY HUSBAND TO DO MUCH OF THE PAINTING AND FINISH WORK. WE WERE SO PLEASED WITH THE BUILDERS AND THE 3 PROJECTS THEY COMPLETED THAT WE SENT GREG A $100 TIP.
Description of Work: 1) INSTALLED 14 PAIRS OF SHUTTERS, DISCARDING OLD AND SEALING HOLES. $675.00 2) REPLACED FRONT ENTRY DOOR, HAULED OLD ONE AWAY, ADDED MOLDING INSIDE AND OUT, REPLACED THRESHOLD CAULK. $410.00 3) FINISHED AN OPEN WALL UP TO THE CEILING TO PARTITION MASTER BEDROOM FROM BATH. INSTALLED CEILING FAN ON CATHEDRAL CEILING. SECURED FRAMING AND REPAIRED CEILING SEAM. $2,650.00
