A few months ago, we hired Rainbow Cultured Marble Inc. for a third time. Previously Rainbow put in a shower tub in the home I owned in Parma. They also remodeled my smaller 1st floor bathroom in the home I live in now in North Royalton. I was pleased with both remodeling jobs back then, so I decided to use them again. This time it was for my upstairs master bathroom. They remodeled my bathroom tub and shower walls. They also installed new cabinetry. The job had a few hiccups along the way. I thought “O Boy.” But all the flaws were fixed, and I have no regrets. Dale the owner, was great at follow up to my questions and making the adjustments like switching the way the shower doors open and closed. It might seem simple now, but it was our fault for the way it was first done. Dale listened to what we said and changed the doors around to our liking. I think Dale went out of his way to service us above what I expected and for that I was grateful. I recommend that if you haven’t seen their showroom, you should give it a try. If you like what you see, I think you will be fine with the installation because Dale will listen to your needs.
Description of Work: Complete bathtub and shower walls remodeling plus cabinetry to our master bathroom.

Our contractor found Rainbow to install marble walls of a shower as part of a large bathroom remodel. Rainbow was very unprofessional. They moved meeting times and never took the time to learn how to spell our names. They agreed to do a few different parts of the job, but then were unprepared to finish the job when they showed up. The work they did was subpar. We sent them a list of errors they made through our contractor. They agreed that they made multiple errors and agreed to fix the errors, however they were able to fix very few of them. We refused to pay until they fixed their errors, but they threatened to sue our contractor so we relented. The contractor we hired was recommended by my uncle who was a contractor for 30+ years. Our contractor has been fair and honest the entire way of our remodel (which is a $50k job in total), and his been able to fulfill some very unique requests we had. Rather than take responsibility for their mistakes, Rainbow has continuously blamed our contractor, who has been nothing but great to us. For example, we wanted a mosaic tile on our walls. In person, we told the owner where we wanted the tile. He agreed, but when his workers showed, they claimed that installing the tile was not part of the job. The owner has blamed our contractor for not telling him about the tile, despite the fact that we told him about it IN PERSON. In our experience, Rainbow does not do quality work, but even worse, shirks responsibility and doesn't operate in good faith. I would not recommend hiring them for any job.

Response from RAINBOW CULTURED MARBLE INC
We would like to address issues with the [Member Name Removed] remodel. Our company has been in business since 1976 with thousands of satisfied customers with high quality products and service that has lasted for over 44 years. The contractor gave us all the customer information and we were not aware of this until well in the bidding process that the customers name was misspelled. Rainbow Marble would have corrected immediately if it was brought to our attention at that time. All communications were through the contractor. The complaint of Rainbow Marble being unprepared. We were never contracted to do their tile in the shower. It was noted on Estimate # 36155 (3rd line- Contractor to install tile in inlay and niche) , Estimate #36186 (6th line- Please Note: No niche or cuts for tile inlay included) and Invoice #47547 (Line 5- Cuts for inlay). No tile installation was mentioned. The contractor asked us during our last day of installing the marble to set the tile. That was short notice. When the contractor contacted us after installation about issues he wanted to discuss, our company sent 4 members to correct whatever issues the contractor indicated, thinking this would satisfy the customer, to no avail. We were told that we were no longer allowed on the jobsite and they requested $250 off, refund for the tile, and an additional $1000 off the invoice for their time. Our part of the Petteck remodel was $4793. The Petteck'[Member Information Removed] also state we admitted our mistakes in writing. This is totally untrue. We have thousands of satisfied customers that refer us to friends and family over the many years in business. Referrals upon request. We try to do the best for every customer we can with product and service but find that some people cannot be satisfied.

I am writing this review to hopefully save someone else the headache of doing business with this company. We were initially helped by Kim (who is quite nice and very helpful!), we picked out remnant pieces to be cut for two small bathrooms in our home. Dale Boss, the owner, came out to do the measurements and to determine the hole cutouts for our faucets. My husband was home at the time and followed him around and confirmed all measurements. I went into the Rainbow office shortly after to sign off on the work…since I trusted that between my husband and Dale all measurements were correct, I signed the papers and gave a deposit. Well…first of all, Dale and an employee showed up a week early for install completely unexpected therefore my husband did not get a chance to pull out the old ones, which costs us $75. When I said I never received a confirmation call, Dale smiled and said “Yes you did”…ummm…no I didn’t! Neverless, paid and let them install. When they were finished installing, they simply said “your old faucets are in the garage so you can reuse them” and left!. I went to look at the work when they finished and could clearly see that the holes were cut wrong and there was no way my old faucets would work! On top of that, they left me with a huge mess! My husband immediately called the office and said the holes were cut incorrectly! Their immediate response was “Your wife signed the paperwork!”…This tells me they knew when they left they were wrong and they raced back to the office to make sure they could blame it on me! They wrote it up wrong and cut it incorrectly and they did not hesitate to blame us!! They never returned a call addressing the issue, but Dale showed up shortly after unannounced demanding the old tops with faucets! We said NO WAY, that is the evidence you did it wrong! Never once tried to look at the job and figure out how to correct the mistake! Dale started screaming at my husband so loudly I could hear it on the other side of the house that he was an a**hole (which he repeated a half a dozen times), said he was a typical homeowner, looking for something for free and went stomping away! My husband followed him as he walked away, which at that point Dale spun around bumping into my husband! Dale started yelling “Assault” and called the police! They were both issued tickets (his word against ours) which cost us another $145.00!! On a side note, my husband is 6’1” and 225 lbs., Dale is a small old man…if my husband assaulted him, at the very least he would have hit the ground! This man only cares about taking your money and has total disregard for the homeowner. Please read other reviews and you will see that this aggressive behavior is very typical of this man! And he will take no blame EVER when he messes up!!

We talked to over 4 different local granite companies including Home Depot. We decided to go with Rainbow because their customer service was amazing (ask for Kim!). She went above and beyond to earn our business and really cared about our deadline and needs. They came the next day to measure and then the following to install. There were no other companies that could even match their price, quality, turn around time and customer service. I highly recommend them!!

We ordered a quartz countertop for a new kitchen from Rainbow Marble and Granite because of positive experiences my mom and sister had with solid surface countertops from them years ago. When Dale came to measure and produce the template from which the countertop would be made, I asked specifically about the steps that I needed to take to make for a smooth installation. I showed him my drop-in kitchen sink and provided him the template from it. Dale said that it would be a "clean install" and that I could leave the food, utensils and all items in the drawers and cabinets because they would be creating little if any dirt because the countertop would be fully fabricated at the shop. On 11/9/2016, the morning of installation, the installer informed me that the sink area would have to be cut out of the countertop while in position in the kitchen and that a lot of dust would be generated. There was no alternative offered. Mark, the salesperson, even used the term "clean install" that very morning. The dust that was generated permeated the entire house requiring every surface THROUGHOUT the house be washed. Their containment measures only somewhat reduced the depth of the dust in the far reaches of the house. They did not eliminate the need of the entire house being washed. Kitchen cabinets that had been diligently cleaned after their installation had to be completely emptied, vacuumed and washed again along with their contents that I was told could be left. Had Rainbow been honest and forthcoming about the process prior to installation day, I could have potentially sought alternatives or, at least, taken steps such as emptying or sealing the cupboards with masking tape to reduce the impact of the mess.

The product was great- love the counters and the work was fine and done in a timely fashion. My issue has to do with their professionalism, or lack of it: I hired them through my father, (before I knew about Angie's List!) who is a contractor. I paid my father for the work, who in turn was supposed to pay them (they invoiced my father, not me- I never received a bill from this company). I found out 15 months later that my father did not pay the bill in full when the company attempted to collect the remaining sum from me. My issue is not that they wanted to collect their money. The Buyer Beware here is that when they called me to collect my father's debt, they screamed at me, called me names and threatened to sue me and my husband. I am sorry they were not paid as they would have liked (I found out later they had agreed to payment terms with my father and were fine with them until he stopped making payments- then they thought they would bully me), but I have the invoice showing that I have paid my contractor for this service and product. I know there were multiple issues at play here, but the way they treated me was deplorable and I would warn those of you out there to try someone else. If there is an issue or dispute, my experience is that they will not treat you with respect.
Description of Work: The company installed granite counters and a new sink in my kitchen. They also tore out the old counters.

THE INSTALLERS WERE NICE, ALTHOUGH THEY HAD OBVIOUSLY NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE DETAIL OF THIS JOB. THEY DIDN'T KNOW THEY HAD TO ADD GREENBOARD (SO THEY PUT PLYWOOD), AND THE THRESHOLD WAS IMPROPERLY MEASURED. TOWARD THE END OF THE JOB, IT FELT RUSHED. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AFTER THE ORIGINAL WORK, I NOTICED A LEAK BELOW THE SHOWER IN THE BASEMENT. THE CAULKING THEY HAD DONE AROUND THE BASE HAD GIVEN WAY, THEIR BLADDER COULD NOT HANDLE THE VOLUME, AND IT LEAKED THROUGH TO THE BASEMENT. HERE'S THE ANNOYING PART: THEY WANTED $50 TO COME OUT AND REPAIR SOMETHING THAT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY! SO I GRIPED, BUT AGREED. HOWEVER, THE REPAIR GUY WAS LATE (THE RECEPTIONIST LIED ABOUT WHY) AND FORGOT TO GIVE ME THE INVOICE. SO, I GOT AN INVOICE FROM THEM A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER IN THE MAIL, ALONG WITH PHONE CALLS EVERY COUPLE DAYS UNTIL I MAILED THE CHECK! BAD FOR BUSINESS. I LIKED THE INSTALLERS, BUT THEIR RECEPTIONISTS WERE SNOTTY, AND THEIR PAY TO REPAIR POLICY WHILE UNDER WARRANTY STINKS!
Description of Work: I TORE OUT MY OLD LEAD SHOWER PAN, AND PUT DOWN A NEW PLYWOOD SUBFLOOR, AND THEY INSTALLED A MARBLE 'PAN' AND MARBLE SIDES (ABOUT 20-24 INCHES HIGH).
