Kircher Design & Build is a professional, design to completion residential remodeling company that is committed to delivering an exceptional remodeling experience. We have two convenient locations to serve the Dayton and Cincinnati areas.
The designer was on time and very professional. Quoted us a verbal price of $40,000. We wanted to do some of the work ourselves like demo, tiling, etc. but you have to go all or nothing with them which I DO understand. They never followed up with a written quote but to be fair we didn't call them back. I just assumed they would write up a quote for us. Our main purpose was to get some design ideas that would work with our "funky" layout. The designer didn't come up with anything we hadn't already thought of. We ended up doing the project ourselves. Not completed yet but will be 1/2 the price for sure.

We really liked the design, and felt it reflected what we told the designer we wanted in plans, materials, and budget. We believe we would have been very happy working with this design team, but ultimately chose a different company because they were comparable in all ways except availability for the actual project install. The other company could complete the job two months sooner, and with all else equal, the timing made the difference for multiple reasons. I would certainly consider this company for future projects.
Description of Work: Provided a home consultation and presented a master bath remodel design in showroom, complete with selection of materials.

We recently decided to have our master bathroom remodeled. The Kircher team was very helpful in the design process in helping us make the most of our limited space as well as helping us choose some great transitional features. We felt the products they offered were good quality and the price was competitive with other bids we had gotten. The work was completed on time and with high quality. There were a couple of items that needed follow up and the team was back at our house within 48 hours to complete the punch list items. We are repeat customers with Kircher, they remodeled our kitchen a few years ago.

I felt that they kept trying to talk us into Venetian Gold granite which we stated we do not like. They did not include an estimate for our track lighting option, which I requested in addition to the can light option. We did not find their show room hours to be very convenient, as we both work full time. Their hours for the showroom were 8-5 M-F and no evenings or weekends.
Description of Work: Provided estimate only. They did return call promptly and made appointment and kept it. Carrie was polite and courteous and did calculate appropriate measurements for the work.

Response from Kircher Design & Build
Hello, and so sorry about any confusion I may have caused! Just to clear things up for any potential prospects out there, our hours are by appointment only, whether that appointment is in the studio or at the client's home. We do lots of evening appointments. Because of that, we need to have some family and personal time, so we reserve that for the weekends. Therefore, we do not meet with clients on Saturdays or Sundays. Regarding the quote, I did quote both "Special 6" colors which include New Venetian Gold, and "Group A" colors, which include Crema Pearl, which is the granite that the client seemed to be interested in, as she saw a sample at a home center. I was very clear, and probably pushy, about the fact that it is important for the client to actually view the slabs that will end up in the home, rather than making a decision by a sample only. Samples of natural stone can look very different than a full slab, and each slab of stone, even by the same name, can look different each time you see it. My recommendation to anyone looking at natural stone countertops is to find a good remodeling company that you are comfortable with, and then work within their parameters. Go right to their fabricator and make a selection, rather than making a selection from a home center sample, or from a sample located in a retail establishment, and then trying to make that work with the remodeler. A good solid remodeling company will have lots and lots of choices available and this will eliminate a lot of wasted time for both the client and the remodeling company. No, I did not quote track lighting, as no product selection was made. I did ask for a model number or picture of the kind of lighting requested and did not receive anything. This was no big deal, as I thought we would work on this together at our next meeting, which would be in the studio. That appointment was never set. As an alternative, to get an idea of cost out there, I quoted can lighting, which does not require any selection by the client and is easy to quote, and looks great in the home. Remember that an estimate is merely a starting point for the development of a project. It takes several meetings and revisions involving both parties, to eventually get to a final, planned project, which will culminate in the form of a signed contract which will include all of the pieces and parts ironed out in detail. We aren't there yet. We are still at step one of many more to come if this were to develop into a project. Best of luck in your search for a solid contractor. Wish we could have made a better connection. There are many out there who will do a good job for you and I hope you do connect with someone you can form a positive relationship with. Carrie

She was very nice, and very professional. I think she did a very good job. We started remodeling our bathroom and laundry room, because we found the floor rotting out. We found the toilet leaking into our basement, and then discovered when we went to replace the floor to the laundry room, it was rotted out as well. So, we replaced the floor and then had tile put down. My husband wasn't able to do the finish work. So they were going to do that, but they couldn't meet our time line, they were booked up, so we didn't end up going with them.
Description of Work: Quoted us on finish work stuff. having the molding put back up, and putting new cabinets in the laundry room. Attaching the vanity in the bathroom and the toilet, that kind of stuff.

They did real good work except that the bathroom is too cramped. They should have seen that the bathroom was going to be cramped and advised us not to put in a new sink cabinet in there. They cannot do anything about it now. The worker was excellent; he was very particular and cleaned up after himself very well. He did not talk all the time; he just did his work.

The process was great and Kitchen solvers was a great company. The estimate process was very professional and the designer who came out was very helpful. I learned a bit from talking to her about the process. They were in my top two choices, but I ended up going with a different company. The choice between the two was very hard. I eventually chose the other company only because of the line of cabinets they were going to be using. The price and professionalism of both was very very very similar.

Their workmanship was good. They were very attentive to detail and they did the entire job in about 7 weeks. I was very pleased with them. We have used them before when they remodeled the kitchen in our other house and that is why we chose them again. The cleanup was very good and they cleaned up well every day after they were finished.

Kircher Construction did an excellent job with our renovation. We worked with a handful of individuals through the company and everyone was highly skilled, attentive to detail and followed through with what they said that they would do. Construction began and ended as scheduled. Their designer/salesperson provided good advice about design issues and worked with us around our budget through several revisions of the plan. Their carpenters consistently demonstrated high levels of care and craftsmanship in all of the work they did. They did things the right way rather than the quick or easy way. The project was scheduled so that the plumbing and electrical work (done by subcontractors who had long relationships with the company, I think) occurred as soon as possible given other aspects of construction. All of the Kircher people were friendly and concerned with our convenience and satisfaction. All in all a very positive experience. And we love our new kitchen!

My wife and I can't say enough good things about Kitchen Solvers. At their showroom, Carrie was so helpful about helping us to coordinate the cabinet fronts with the counter top, back splash tile, kitchen sink and faucet, and even the cabinet hardware. We thought all that we would get is our cabinets refaced, but we got a beautiful new kitchen that makes all of our friends say "wow" when they visit and see our new kitchen for the first time. The workmen were very neat and always cleaned up after themselves. They even installed our new dishwasher and because we asked for new LED lighting to replace the old, dated florescent lighting we had originally, they were able to do that work as well. The whole job went smoothly, without any problems whatsoever and we would recommend Kitchen Solvers to anyone. Should we need any more work done in future (e.g., bathroom remodeling, bathtub replacement), we will be sure to call them again.
Description of Work: Kitchen Solvers remodeled our kitchen. The work included refacing the existing cabinets and replacing the existing cabinet hardware and hinges with new. They also replaced the back splash, the counter top, the sink, and its faucet. They installed a new range hood. They replaced the counter lighting with new LED lighting and replaced all light switches and power outlets. We purchased a new dishwasher from Lowes and they installed that unit in order to insure that it aligned correctly with the cabinets.

We have had a lot of remodeling done in various homes over the years and was this - by far - the best experience we have ever had. I had a vision of how I wanted my kitchen to work and had been planning and dreaming about it for many years. John and Carrie made that vision a reality and the process was surprisingly painless. They were a tremendous help with the design process and very up front about costs and time frame. The crew was on site every day, all day, for the duration of the job. They were pleasant to have in the house (which is important when the job is three weeks long), and were very mindful of keeping the house as clean and picked up as possible. I would definitely have them back again and in fact plan to when we are ready to re-do our bathrooms.
Description of Work: Kitchen Solvers installed a new tile floor in our kitchen, laundry room, foyer and back hallway. They installed new cabinets, appliances, countertops and lighting - basically installed a brand new kitchen in a slightly reconfigured space.

Kitchen Sovlers is very professional. Laura, the designer, was very accomodating and we liked how she layed out the plan and took a personal interest in our project. She came to our house, took preliminary measurements, documented our ideas and took photos. We visited their Mason showroom to select granite/tile/sink. The actual work was done by Kitchen Solvers employees, except for the granite that came from a granite supplier. Josh, came out and performed the final measurements. W/n 3 weeks, the lead person came in and built out the soffet, the granite template was made. The granite was brought in the following week, but had been miscut on 1 end - so to my amazement, they replaced the biggest piece from a brand new granite slab approx 1 week later - in the meantime they restored our faucet and dishwasher so that we could function. With the new granite installed & the bottom-mount sink, we discovered that the tile didn't match as well as we had hoped, so we changed out the tile - putting the project 1.5 weeks behind schedule - but not due to Kitchen Solvers. The new tile arrived, it was installed, the pantry was brought in and everything looks fantastic!
Description of Work: Had designer help with the original planning. Then contracted to have a built-in pantry, replaced counter tops with granite, replaced since to bottom mount, added tile backsplash

Carrie came out to our house to describe the process Kitchen Solvers uses in their refacing process. She took measurements of the kitchen. When we went to the showroom she was very helpful in listening to our preferences and showing us cabinets and colors we would like. Also, all the cabinets are made to order so that we could choose EXACTLY what we wanted. They had a decent variety of hardware to choose from in the show room as well. She gave us our estimate which was on par with other estimates we received BUT Kitchen Solutions included more. For instance, new drawers and a new lazy suzanne. We picked out everything at the end of November and were told that we would be scheduled for installation toward the end of January. The job started Feb 1st (which was fine) and was finished Feb 4th. Tom came to our house each day on time. He cleaned up everyday before he left, including sweeping the garage free of saw dust. Tom did a beautiful job and resolved issues that came up before I even had a chance to mention them. We had pull out drawers in our cabinets before the refacing. These drawers proved problematic upon installation of the new "hidden" hardware. Tom solved this problem by obtaining new drawers and installing special hinges. Tom made sure I chose how the cabinet door on the lazy suzanne opened. Tom worked with us providing ideas of how to install the trim around the granite. The previous owner of the house had installed granite tiles for counter tops and used trim wood to cover the unfinished sides. Kitchen solvers ordered trim to replace this rather awkward home job. I was pleased that they were willing to work with this unconventional "finish" and did not attempt to persuade us to replace the counter tops. We had two minor problems pop up after the job was complete. Kitchen Solvers sent out Steve to fix the problem with a few days of my call. he did a good job as well.
Description of Work: Refacing of all cabinets in kitchen. Included in cost, aside from typical refacing, entire new drawers, new lazy suzanne, crown molding on tops of high cabinets, trim on lower edges of high cabinets, trim on edge of granite counter tops and trim between granite counter tops and tile backsplash, trim around island, all hardware. The trim described around granite was to replace the trim a previous owner had installed himself.

I found these guys because I was lost and stopped into their storefront for directions. I kept their card and they were 1 of 3 bids for our kitchen remodel work. Kitchen Solvers did not have many entries in Angie's List. My other two bids did. Auer Kitchens was one of the other bids. I was very impressed by Auer, but their bid was about $10,000 higher than Kitchen Solvers. The third, Kraft Construction, was quite a bit lower, but they did not seem capable of doing the design services, and while very nice people, were not nearly as professional as the others. Kitchen Solvers did very well in all of the following areas: 1) design services, including interior decorating services; 2) general contracting; and finally 3) the actual contruction and installation. The work was done in 4 weeks, which was 3 weeks less than Auer said it would take. Most of the work was done by a wonderful man and craftsman named Steve. Steve was there every day. About half the time, he had a helper. Steve was extremely professional. He was always happy and patient to explain to me and my wife how the work was going and if we had any concerns. The results of his work are very good. I am very handy person and have done this type of work before. I am very picky and the work was done to my satisfaction. The quality of materials used on the job was excellent. The design process was a good experience, too. Laura was our designer and she also handled most of the business end of things. They have a small showroom where you can see most of the materials. While you can pick out almost anything you want, they start by offering you a standard set of cabinets, counter tops, tile, etc. that most people commonly pick. It's a great place to start because a lot of the selecting can be overwhelming. All in all, I think I got a very good value. I rate price a "B" on Angie's list when the price is about right for what you are getting. I reserve "A's" for contractors who are either not charging enough or they have a competitive advantage over their peers that gives them a radically different cost structure. For Kitchen Solvers, keep in mind you are paying for general contracting and design services. I found both to be excellent. When there was a problem (such as with the appliance supplier), it was their problem, not mine, and they worked it as such. They did not try to pass it off to me as my problem. When the work took a little longer than they had estimated, they ate the cost. All changes were done by a formal work change request process.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel of a large kitchen. Kitchen Solvers served as general contractor and design specialists. We kept the same layout and cabinet footprint and kept our existing hardwood floor, which kept costs down. Demolision of soffits. Removed old cabinets and appliances. Drywall repair. Minor electrical and plumbing work. Installed all new cabinets, granite counter tops, and tile backsplash. Installed semi-custom, plywood frame cherry cabinets. Ran new range hood exhaust vent. Painted ceiling and walls. Installed crown molding.

In 2007 at $13000 we had 3 bathrooms floors with new ceramics. We had a shower that was very small at approximately like 36 x 42 we never used it after we moved in, we felt too cramped and it was so old. Kitchen Solvers removed part of a wall to make it bigger and added a clear window-door. It is perfect. They are GREAT! They are clean with the work they do, they are very detail oriented. They make good suggestions. Plus we were not concern to leave them work alone in the house. We recently used them for a tiny project that they usually don't do but since they had an employee that was free they accepted. They listen, give good suggestions and they respect your budget. While working on the baths, we asked if it was possible to remove the wall between the kitchen and the family room. That was done in a matter of time, they removed, and finished it up; we now can enjoy a new breakfast-counter. Those projects were handled professionally with no major investment and it made a big impact on the house value. We left Kitchen Solvers employees worked alone in the house, they are very trustworthy. We are looking forward to jump on a new project with them: cabinet resurfacing and new counter top.
Description of Work: In February of 2007 we got a quote for remodeling 1x shower and get new tiles in all 3 bath area; it was approximately $13,000. It was last spring 2007. This job was done. We just got a new quote for a new project at $15,000 to get cabinets resurfaced in our family room with bookcases each side the fireplace and our kitchen cabinets so it matches, plus new counter top and ceramic backsplash in the kitchen. We will eventually get this one job done in fall 2008- or winter 2009.
