Village Roofing

I had purchased a home, and the home inspector had noted that the ducts from the bathroom vents discharged into the eaves, causing the warm, moist air to stay in the attic. After doing some research, I decided that roof vents were the best solution. I called Village Roofing and left a message to see if this was something they could do. I then received a call from Dave, the owner. He said he could do the work and it would be $90 per vent, including labor. The price was significantly less than I expected, and I appreciated that he was able to tell me the price upfront, over the phone. When the bill came, it included a print-out showing pictures of the work at each step, with notes about what was done. I thought this was great, and showed that Dave is someone who takes pride in doing a job correctly. It has been over a year, and there are no apparent leaks, so am pleased with the work. I would hire Dave and Village Roofing again.

They were good, I liked them. They did a good job, they were on time and everything.

I had a leak that was causing dripping water to appear in an upstairs bedroom during hard and driving rainstorms. I thought that I needed a roof patch or an entire new roof. Dave came out and noticed that there was a crack in the seal around my chimney. He also told me that while my roof was older it was in good shape and that all I needed was to have the chimney re-sealed. Instead of paying for a new roof, I only paid for a service call. He also cleaned out part of my rain gutters as well when he was up on the ladder working on the chimney seal. Other roofers told me that I needed to replace the roof, giving me estimates in the thousands of dollars. I would definitely call Dave again for any such work.

David first worked for my father (now deceased) when my father owned our Lakewood home. Our house is 101 years old and has a valley designed into the middle of the roof. Prior to using Village Roofing (20 years ago), we were getting significant water infiltration through this valley due to ice dams in winter. David resolved the problem for us and we have not had a drop of water infiltration since. Over the years, David removed the original slate roof and replaced the roof in sections, always giving us a truthful analysis of each section's integrity. As a result of the hail storm that hit Lakewood on May 7, 2010, Allstate agreed to pay for a new roof. When an inadvertent mistake on Angie's List displayed no insurance for Village Roofing, I questioned David about this. He graciously supplied me not only with proof of insurance but also with his entire new customer packet, including roof photos and references. (Ask to see photos of the "Nottingham" and my house - the green house - in Lakewood. Both are beautiful ! David and his outstanding crew just completed our new roof (9/15/10). As always, it is a work of art, carefully crafted to David's high standards. We are extremely pleased as we knew we would be. David and his crew carefully hand nailed large portions of my house and garage where a nail gun would have been an improper tool. Where a tree trunk was growing into our garage roof, David carefully trimmed back the roof edge to accommodate further tree growth. He trimmed back tree branches that were touching the house. He filled a hole in back with cement where a mouse was entering our house. He even offered to install a small piece of glass in a broken old garage window when he is working in the area. ( I provide the glass.) Due to the crew's meticulous neatness, my neglected old garage now looks better than it has in 25 years, inside and out. For insurance purposes David gave me detailed photos of damage discovered and repaired by his crew. He gave me a detailed price breakdown for Allstate. Included also is a 5 year labor warranty in addition to the 30 year shingle warranty (per manufacturer). I asked David Nolte for permission to write this review. We had a great experience-David gave us an estimate when he was working on our neighbor's home. He gave us a written estimate for the repair of the roof and also took care to give us an estimate for a bathroom vent we needed installed. He took the time to explain what he would be doing. He also performed other helpful tasks while he was on our roofs such as cleaning out parts of gutters and nailing in gutter nails that were sticking out. I would highly recommend working with this company. He also e-mails pictures of the job!
