The company proved to be extremely dishonest in their dealings with us. We received a call a few days after pick-up. The service person told us the mower was shot and worth $50.00 and that we would be best served buying a used mower from them for $1500. They said the mower was unsafe. The ONLY issue with the mower is the deck. Yes, the deck was unsafe, that's why we wanted it replaced. The rest of the mower is fine. It is quite clear that this group has a nice little business misleading people to buy their used mowers for nothing, fixing them and reselling them at a huge profit. The engine alone on this mower is worth several hundred dollars. See Ebay. If you want to buy a part or get your blades sharpened maybe they are fine. Otherwise STAY AWAY!

Fixed our weed wacker for a reasonable price with a quick turn-around.

After someone ran into a concrete "wall" while mowing our lawn with the riding mower the nearly new mower was in bad shape (housing, blade, body). I was out of town and found State Sharpening on Angie's list and contacted them by phone. She assured me it was fixable and at a price much less than we paid for it although sh couldn't give me a quote over the phone. We had someone deliver it (the only bad part; I wish they could have picked it up) and they were given a quote then. When it was ready they called and we were happy to find that the final price was 20% below the estimate!!! Because I couldn't pick it up myself they were able to take the credit card information over the phone. This made it easy for someone else to pick it up for us without our involvement. It works wonderfully!! We will definitely use them again for our lawnmower needs (let's hope no one hits the concrete wall again) and also for our snowblower need. Thanks State Sharpening!!

It works perfectly now, and they had it done in just a few days. They started it up for me, and then loaded it in my vehicle. Great experience.

Until recently, I thought State Shapening was the only option in and around town for blade shapening and mower repair. As a result, I've taken our tractors there for maintenance two or three times over the the past three years. Each time, the "work" done has never been up to par, requiring subsequent visits to fix the same problem. The final straw came when I needed a loose mower belt fixed. I arranged a pick up, waited a week, and had the tractors delivered. No more than two minutes after starting out on the lawn, the belt came off. Irritated, I called State Sharpening to let them know their "repair" was ineffective. "You must be hitting rocks or branches," the owner told me, "there's no way that belt would come off time and again after I worked on it!" He was indignant, yet I went on to explain that our yard has some of those obsticals, but we've been cutting it for 30 years and know where these areas are and avoid them. I invited him out to check out where we're cutting, to assure him I was not crazy and running over tree branches, rocks, or any other protrusions coming out of the ground. It's a flat, one acre plot of land. Needless to say, we were reimbursed nothing and left with paying the bill for sub-standard work. I took my business to another place I found in Northfield, Ohio, to have the tractor examined. The repairmain looked at the work done and shook his head -- "This was done all wrong." He proceeded to fix the issue for a reasonable price. He also dropped the tractor off free of charge. There are a few tractor and mower placed out there in northeast Ohio. I would avoid State Sharpening if possible.

The store said I could return it the next day, but I was concerned that if they couldn't see a problem the first time they wouldn't see it the second time. Hence I decided to go after it myself (something I wanted to avoid since I am pretty busy). I thought it was likely the governor, so got on the ground and sure enough the governor vane wouldn't move. It took me under 10 seconds to diagnose the problem that they said didn't exist. I repaired the mower myself - it was extensive, as I had to disassemble everything down to the carb to find the problem - a sticky shaft in the carb body. A little time to thin the shaft down and burnish it, and it rotated smoothly so the spring could move the shaft again. Reassembled the mower, and it works perfectly. A competent shop would have seen this and replaced parts, but the outcome would have been the same as mine. So there was a problem with my mower, and the tech/repairman could not even see there was one, let alone fix it. I don't have confidence these guys can properly diagnose problems let alone fix them. This was not a complicated problem to diagnose if you understand small engine repair (something I had in high school over 35 years ago).

I've been looking for a new lawnmower for the last month reading several reports. I've been to several stores looking without all my questions answered. I am not one to buy on a whim of sales talk. I went to State Sharpening to look at their self propelled lawnmowers. They where great! Answered every question I had and explained how everything operated. I purchased the lawnmower, they explained the maintenance of it, gave me a quart of oil for my first oil change. They set the lawnmower up for me, ready to go just add gas (no extra charge) loaded it in my truck. They registered the lawnmower for me through the manufacturer. What a great Business, knowledgable in what they sell with excellent care. I will be buying all lawn care equipment there in the future. And do you know the best part of it all? The lawnmower is Outstanding mulching lawnmower!

Did what they said they would do. Drop it off one day and picked it up the next. Reasonably priced.

They were prompt and reliable. The mower was taken in during a busy time of the year, but was completed at the scheduled time.

My mower started getting very, very noisy. I took it in and told them the problems I was having. They called in a day to let me know what the issue was and what the cost would be. I was very happy with the work/price. This is a typical mower/equipment supply/repair counter. When they're busy, expect to wait a bit for service (ie one person working the counter, and customers usually have multiple things they need done....so the job write up takes some time).

They did a nice job. They were reasonably priced and were always prompt and professional.

They helped me out determining the size that I need. It came already assembled and cost less than the cost of a new one at home depot. Highly recommended.

I learned about State Sharpening from Angie's List and, after trying them out on just sharpening a mower blade, I took in a second mower that had been idle for a couple of seasons for a tune-up. Service on both jobs was quick, competent, and reasonably priced. I would definitely use them again.

Repair was made by cleaning the carburetor. Service was very prompt; repair was completed in 2 days in spite of busy summer season. Have previously used this company for sharpening lawnmower blades and repairing snow blower--always receive prompt, courteous service at a very reasonable price.

THESE GUYS HAVE REPAIRED OUR LAWN MOWER, CHAIN SAW, LEAF BLOWERS AND SNOW PLOWS OVER THE YEARS AND THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TRUTHFUL ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE MACHINES AND WHETHER THEY ARE WORTH FIXING. THEY PRESENT ALL THE OPTIONS AND QUOTE THE COST OF THE REPAIR UP FRONT AND THE TIME IT WILL TAKE. WE'RE LUCKY TO HAVE THEM IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

GOOD. I SEEM TO CONSTANTLY BRING BACK THE MOWERS AFTER A SHORT TIME DUE TO A BAD TUNE-UP, BUT THIS LAST FIX SEEMS TO HAVE STUCK FOR A LONG TIME. ALTHOUGH I AM RID OF THE SNOW BLOWER, THEY DID A POOR JOB ON THAT. IT NEVER DID RUN RIGHT!

THEY WERE VERY GOOD. THEY WERE VERY EFFICIENT. I WAS PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS. THEY CALLED AHEAD OF TIME AND THEY WERE VERY PROMPT.
