Whether Jim or one of his employees, they always arrive on time, are professional and friendly, complete the work efficiently, and leave the job area spotless. They keep the customer informed of issues and options. Although I could probably find a less expensive plumbing service, I appreciate Action Plumbing's attention to detail and professionalism and willingly pay a little more. I first used them over 10 years ago based on a colleague's referral and have not used another plumber since.

It went great. He is clean, he puts down the rug and cleans up after themselves. He was intelligent and had good communication. He give us little tips about how to avoid future clogs. When he comes back he always remembers things, it is nice to feel like you are building a small relationship with someone doing the work. The time before this we were having trouble with the aerator in the faucet in the bathroom. He didn't have the part, but he went out to the store at no extra charge and brought it back for us. He goes above and beyond.
Description of Work: He snaked out our drain, we have a slow kitchen drain. It took him a while because the clog was way down there. He had to snake it twice.

Great service, great timing, would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: They came out twice, the 8th and the 9th. We had a plumbing leak in the double sink in the kitchen, and it had rusted away. We got Bay Plumbing's information through Angie's List and the church bulletin. Jim, the owner, personally answers the phone. We had a service tech out at my mother's house within an hour and a half. They took out the old plumbing and put in new plumbing. Mike, the service tech, was very courteous and upfront and honest. He not only gave what was advertised in the church bulletin, which was a senior discount, but he also said there would not be a service charge for using the church bulletin. We didn't have to ask for that discount, he automatically took it off the bill.

The company was very fast in getting back tio me, punctual and professional. I paid $153 to have a small shutoff valve replaced for my gas kitchen stove and the total labor involved took less than 30 minutes. Mike also put on a couple brackets to secure a dowenstairs gas pipe.

Our utility tub started to drain slow a few weeks ago then completely stopped draining yesterday. I called late in the afternoon and they had their service guy out the very next morning. We are new to the home (moved in 8 months ago) and didn?t know how the plumbing was set up. Denny was very knowledgeable and explained that the problem wasn?t a big issue. However, while looking at some of the additional plumbing work done by the previous owner he pointed out some potential problems (without up selling me). I appreciated the knowledge and experience he brought to the job and I would hire this company again. Price was competitive with other companies?.if not lower. *Used 10% coupon from AL*

The service was good. The only complaint I have is that they quoted $250 to $300 and it ended up coming out to $360. They were very quick and responsive, and even got back to me the same day which was good. I have no problem with the service, but I feel they should have been giving a bigger range for the quote. This way they won't be setting false expectations.

Jim did a great job overall........See above for Services performed from start to finish.
Description of Work: Tub Drain Rotted Out....... Jim gave me Estimate & he would be done today Work Performed was installed a new all brass gerber tub waste & overflow kit w/ a new strainer & trip lever. Also installed a new pvc trap......Also installed all new pvc piping to the existing cast iron wye & connect to the vent drop in basement. Also recaulked the lead joint in the cast iron wye. Jim did a great job and also replaced a corroded old water valve and did some other extra things that he really didn't have to like recaulk around the tub fixtures and zip screwed a couple water heater vents as well. So I was very happy w/ the job and the little extra services performed and would recommend to anyone that wants the job done right and the mess cleaned up afterward. Jim's 4th generation experience definitely showed in his Service. knowledge and workmanship.

Jim did a great job and I will be using this company again for future plumbing issues. Jim arrived quickly and completed the work within the time frame he estimated. He also gave me great advice on some other projects I'm having done to the house this summer. Overall, I was impressed with Jim's quality of work and professionalism.
Description of Work: I had tried to remove a 60 year old outdoor spigot and ended up twisting the copper pipe going into the house. After calling for service, Jim was at the house within 30 minutes. All damaged copper pipe was removed, new shutoffs added, and a frost proof spigot installed in less than two hours.

Jim always fixes our problems with the least invasive procedures. His solutions are always well done. He is obviously popular because he is sometimes difficult to get! But I will wait for him because I trust his work. He cleans up after the work is done and you never would know that he has been there! He is my first choice of plumbers!
Description of Work: Jim came to investigate a leaking toilet. He needed to remove the old seal, build up the seal to meet the current tile floor, and reinstall. He is a creative problem solver with extensive plumbing knowledge. He has helped us several times with difficult "old construction" problems and brought things up to code. He never leaves till the work is done right! Another time he came to investigate why my hot water was not coming into the washing machine. He found debris in the pipes, cleaned out the water tank, and brought back the correct hot water temperature into the house. I didn't even realize where the problem began (the tank) but he was quick to diagnose and fix it. Jim is a highly skilled and qualified plumber in our opinion. I prefer to have him do my work because he gives me confidence that it will be done right!

Brecksville Plumbing returned our call within 30 minutes and came to the house later that afternoon at the time they said they would arrive. He spent 2-1/2 hours working on both of our water heaters and replacing a copper t-joint in the ceiling of our basement. (He cleaned the heating element in the water heater, which seemed to fix the problem. We asked him to clean the heating element in the other water heater for good measure.) He explained what the problems were, gave us some advice, repaired the problems quickly, and left the repair areas clean. All plumbers are expensive, but for 2-1/2 hours of work, we thought $365 was fair (it also included a piece of copper piping needed for the repair). We've called Brecksville Plumbing in the past and will continue to call them in the future.

He does great work, I have been using him since 1984. If he comes out to do service on something, then he doesn't have to come back. He gets the job done the first time. I have used him multiple times and he shows up right away every time. Jim is very courteous, neat, respectful, and nice. I have never known a better plumber than him! I have also used him at my place of business and has snaked out the sewer lines at that location.

What happened was that our toilet was leaking from what we assumed was a bad seal. Steve came out, but was late, as sometimes happens. He was a little quiet at first, but once we started talking he was friendly. Steve saw the toilet, which is new and high quality, and suspected that wasn't the case, but he was thorough and checked it just in case (it always makes me nervous when people just assume and don't check). It turns out it was a clog in the pipes, and Steve went through methodically and cleaned out the possible culprits - including some pretty yucky sewage (Sorry, Steve!). He found and cleaned out the source, and did a great job. He also gave us advice and information concerning the clay pipes and a problem with how the previous owners installed some things. He was very knowledgeable and we are very happy he was willing to help us. He didn't take too long, but spent as long as needed on our problem. The price was good, if not great, and we would use them again and will probably be calling to set up an appointment to fix some of those issues soon!

Was scheduled to be at another house I was remodeling, at 8 am to work on plumbing, told him I had to leave by 11:30 so that would be plenty of time. Called the night before to say he had booked two jobs for the same time- would probably get to my house by 9:30 - reminded him of the time I had to leave still felt plenty of time to do the work needed. day of appointment called me at 10 am (I got up in plenty of time to be at the house by 8 am) and said he could be there by 10:30 I said I didn't think that left enough time to do the job, He asked if I could just leave him in the house and he would lock up behind him. i said- no thank you, Wasted threee hours of my time including traveling to and from the home that needed work.

Response from Action Plumbing & Sewer Cleaning
We set up the time with the customer the evening before the job. While on the way to her home the next morning, traffic was at a gridlock. Our service tech called her and stated he was stuck in traffic and would be late. She expressed her concern about having to leave at a certain time. Our tech told her there would still be plenty of time to look at the job and give her an estimate. He also suggested, if she felt comfortable, she could leave a key for us. Since we are a highly reputable, trustworthy company, many of our customers leave keys for us. This is not uncommon. It was merely a suggestion to the customer, if she was comfortable with it. She declined, we offered to come another time if that was better, she said no and to come out. Conversation ended. A short while after that she called our office to cancel the tech from coming out. We never worked for this customer since she cancelled.

See above. I modified my report and the grades above on 3/31 after speaking with Jim...I did try to change my overall experience grade from a "D" to a "B"...not sure if it will update that portion or not so I will check back...
Description of Work: Our bathroom sink has had a problem with a slow drain for a while. It finally got bad enough that it needed to be snaked. My husband tried to snake it but had no success. We called Jim on a Friday evening and he said he could have someone out on Saturday morning. He sent one of his employees who arrived promptly at 9am. The clog was cleared. Due to the age/condition of the sink and some issues with the pipes under the sink itself, the pipes between the sink and the wall needed to be, and were, all replaced. The work completed to this point cost $250.00. However, at the end of the work, there was still a leak between the last "new" pipe and the pipe going in to the wall when we ran the water. The job could not be completed on that Saturday due to time, so we placed a bowl under the leaking area to catch water and scheduled a time for them to come back out to fix the leak. We were told that the pipe going in to the wall would need to be replaced, and to do so, the vanity would have to be removed. Since our vanity/sink is older, it was suggested that we go to Home Depot and get something new and just replace the vanity. We were quoted an additional $485 to rip out the vanity, replace the pipe, and install the new vanity/hardware that we were to buy. We have not yet taken further action, as, given the layout in our bathroom, removal of the old vanity will damage our tile. We are not in a position to deal with tile repair/replacement at this time, and hoped to wait and replace the tile and the sink at once. The leak has disappeared for the time being, and we have not decided what the next action is that we plan to take. I can't really give an opinion regarding the quality of the work on this particular job because, according to Jim and the guy he sent here, our equipment is old and their fix was temporary. The sink itself is old and needs replaced, as allegedly does this pipe that goes in to the wall. We do have plans to do some remodeling of our bathroom at some point, and will likely investigate this pipe issue further as we begin to make those plans. Following the initial day of work, I did speak directly to Jim regarding the scope of the remaining work, and felt comfortable with the response and the explanation that he gave me. We did not receive the same detailed explanation from the guy who was actually here. I felt that Jim was fair with respect to how he dealt with me in this situation, although he was not the person who came here to do the work in this instance. Jim has been here in the past and we have always felt that he does excellent work. I was not necessarily comfortable that I was getting the straight story from the employee that he sent here. I would recommend waiting for Jim to come and do your job if you can do that.

Originally called regarding a toilet that stopped filling the tank. As we called the day after severe regional flooding, Jim could not come until the next day, but told us that up front - and we agreed that our needs were not as high a priority as those with flooding. Jim checked out all of the toilets in the house and identified additional service needs that needed to be addressed, including the fact that one toilet had been improperly installed by a prior plumber causing leaking and deterioration and snaking two toilet drains. We have used Jim several times in the past, as well. He is very professional and responsive. He is very neat - no traces left behind for cleanup.

We thought it was expensive but when I went online it was average. We had no idea of the charges because we had not done any comparison shopping. They came immediately but they didn't call to say they were coming. They put the installation date on the tank, which my husband liked. They were really on the ball. They were out here immediately and seemed to do a good job. He was about an hour late the second morning but he apologized and said they were working on that.
Description of Work: We used Action Plumbing & Sewer Cleaning to do plumbing. There were 2 faucets that were leaking. One of the faucets was in the half bath and they replaced the cartridge. The other was by the washer and dryer where the little shut off valve was leaking and they replaced that. He had to go get that one because he didn't have it on the truck. In the meantime he had two hoses that go from the valve to the washer and dryer and they installed a new type of hose that is less likely to blow. He was trying to test the pressure and there was some black stuff that came out and he said that it was losing its heating value. My husband told him to put in a new tank so he came back the next day to put the new tank in that was updated. It was a 50-gallon tank.

Just over 6 months later, we've just had a new oven installed - and it was discovered that Jim used thread sealant on two flare fittings. Even *I* know that you never put thread compound on flare type fittings, because it makes it difficult or impossible to make a seal. This is not only incompetent, but dangerous!

I am a fourth generation licensed plumber in my family and I have been licensed for almost 20 years. I always use a little white grease on all flairs it stops the friction it allows the joint to tighten up nice and snug. It is a extra step that I was taught as a apprentice, the gas system is always leak tested after any repairs are made. The Memebr and/or his unlicensed appliance delivery man did not serve a plumbing apprenticeship and pass the state plumbing test so before The Member states his opinion on what compound was on the flair and accuse someone of causing a dangerous situation you would think the normal action would be to pick up the phone and ask me. Once again I truly believe we do some of the best work in Brecksville and Broadview Hts. area make a call to either building dept. and or check with the BBB. The answers you will hear from either should impress you. As far as the Members 1838 built house I would be more concerned about the dangerous possibilities of lead paint, asbestos, and/or lead solder water pipes,Member if you have any concerns about these possible hazards please feel free to call I have a few contacts that can help if needed.

While leaving the house for surgery, the flushing mechanism in our old toilet broke. Upon lifting the lid to the tank, I saw that this was a bad break. I found out that the toilet did not have a shut off valve! I was able to get the mechanism back together enough to stop the water flow. My wife took Action's phone number to the hospital and called Jim from there. He came over in the morning and proceeded to replace the toilet. Since it was original equipment from the early 50s, we anticipated this. Jim worked all day and had a new toilet in place and operational.

Jim was able to come over within a couple hours and spent about 5 hours doing all the work. I'm not sure why it took so long, because I wasn't home - but it seems like a long time to spend putting on some caps and installing or replacing a few valves and doing all the leak-checking. He also had to replace a flexible gas line with a hard-plumbed line through a floor, which obviously took some time. He also removed a lot of old pipe, which wasn't really necessary. Unfortunately, this left on space heater disconnected. One problem was that he installed a gas line to an oven, which was previously using a flexible line. His initial plumbing job left the oven resting about 6 inches from the back wall, and sticking out from the counter several inches!! Luckily my wife said it was unacceptable. But simply the fact that he would try to pass this off while charging nearly $900 is unbelievable. He re-did the plumbing and the 2nd time put forth a little effort and managed to get it back to within a couple inches of the wall and flush with the counter depth. My wife is an experienced architect who has worked in the building industry for well over a decade, and she felt he talked down to her in describing his difficulty running this line to the oven, as if she had no concept of construction. Nonetheless, the job was completed and there are no leaks and we feel safer now. I just wish the bill would have been more reasonable, since we were in a jam and didn't have the time to shop around.
Description of Work: We had a small gas leak in our basement and made the mistake of calling the gas company, which resulted in our service being turned off, and so we had to find a plumber to come out immediately to repair the leak. There were apparently several small leaks due to poor-quality and non-conforming work from the previous owner of our house.
