THIS ENTIRE REVIEW PAGE and RATINGS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION AND PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE: Ace showed up late 3 times to my house (30-40 minutes late from when they said they would arrive) and stayed until after 11:30 pm on the final night when they promised the job would be done by 5 pm. Ace kept saying they had equipment problems and then two crew members out of three walked off the job around dinnertime. The owner then showed up later in the evening and said he would get those two employees back and the job would be completed properly. Both Ashley and the company owner told me the job was completely done at about 11:30 pm, but when heat contractors later came to give an estimate for new heat ducts, they discovered Ace did not enter or clean the attic over the Four Season room that Ashley expressly told me she had done herself by making a hole in the wall to enter it and crawling into it. There was no hole made and no one ever entered that part of the attic yet Kelly (the owner's daughter) insisted I pay them the full amount the insurance company issued for the job to be completely done. The job was never completed and new damage was done to the living room ceiling in addition to what a raccoon had already done, and Ace has refused to repair or pay for the new damage they did. Kelley told me I "couldn't prove they did it" so they were not paying for anything. The heating contractors also discovered that ACE didn't even remove all of the old heat ducts or old insulation in the main part of the attic, as well. I have an approximate 2000-2050 square foot attic area, but Ace wrote down over 3700 square feet in their estimate to install new insulation at over a foot deep of blown in insulation. But they only blew insulation into most of the main part of the attic. They did not clean out all of the attic eaves. Kelly left me messages that I better give them all the insurance company money in what was a very rude and unprofessional. manner in my view. I was falsely told multiple times that Ace completed cleaning and re-insulating the entire attic by both Ashley and the company owner. Then when I discovered that was not true, Kelly claimed they never said they would do the whole job and I couldn't prove otherwise. Ace measured my entire attic area on three different occasions and told me they were doing the complete job on each of those occasions. This experience with Ace was horrendous in my personal view.

I called Ace, and worked with Ashley she was very professional. She came out right away went right up in the attic inspected everything. I have a small dog and was worried about the raccoons in my attic. The previous company I had called would would not go up in the attic and did not know what they were doing. So then I gave Ace a call Ashley went up into the attic assessed the damage, look to see if the animal was up there, and determined how the animal got in which was through the gable vents. She put a control trap up on the vent to make sure that the animal was out. She also put up heavy duty screening over the vents to prevent the animals from getting back in. I can't say enough about the good customer service they provide. Not only do they have great customer service, they are very professional and know what they are doing. Don't even bother going to anywhere else just give them a call.
Description of Work: I had a raccoon break into my attic. I needed someone to come take a look to see what damage was done and possibly remove the animal if it was still there.

The man who came over was nice enough. Went into attic. He wasn’t able to find anything but some mice droppings. He told us to buy mouse bait and toss it up there ourselves. Meanwhile a critter that is most definitely not a mouse has continued to crawl around in our walls. Did not give an “F” because man was nice and did show up. I don’t know that he has any particular expertise in animal control. I think he was merely working between military assignments. Disappointing.

Connor came the following day, he inspected our roof and soffits and could not find any potential entry into the attic. He also checked the attic, but did not find any evidence of a large animal living in the attic. He told us to keep listening and he would stop by in 2 days to follow up. He came as promised, so we had him put mouse bait in the attic since there was no large animal. The only issue was he was supposed to call when he was on his way. The first visit he just showed up and luckily my husband was home and on the Saturday visit he was running late but didn't call to let us know, I had to call the office to find out where he was.
Description of Work: My husband and I heard scratching noises in our attic in the middle of the night. We called Ace the next day to have someone check out what was going on in the attic.

My comments: One of the worst experiences I have ever had as a consumer – and I have had many terrible ones. Incredibly rude and insulting crew. The owner is one of the worst human beings that I have ever the displeasure of communicating with in my life. The run-around about the owner being out of the country was absurd. The amount of conflicting statements or outright lies was astonishing (The conflicting statements are numbered in the timeline above). Many of the lies I suppose they can get away with, but I was under the impression that it was illegal misrepresent an R value. Maybe that is difficult to prove. Also, the minimum R-value by code in zone 5 is actually R-38 so I don't see how they are getting away with selling people less than that. Most egregious were the lies about the square footage. Who do they expect doesn't know how many square feet their home is? They didn't write any of the alternate square footage numbers down on the paperwork. They constantly cited "Mike" as an underperforming employee who didn't know what he was doing, yet then would cite an inability to deviate from what Mike had done in the original visit when it was convenient for them. He is also still listed as a contact on their Angie's List page. They make a big deal about wearing tyvek suits and respirators but they don't wear either (see pic) – just the 99 cent dust masks you can get at Home Depot. I'm also not sure how a warranty can be voided, but quite frankly I would rather just pay someone else to come out rather than having to deal with this company ever again. They seem to have several good reviews, but I didn't see any for insulation or for a warranty claim and, in fact, found several poor ones related to warranty.
Description of Work: Originally hired for raccoon removal and complete attic decontamination, insulation removal and replace 03/17/14. In late 2016 had a remodeling project that required replacing ceiling drywall. Discovered that insulation was not replaced in half of the house – a small layer of new insulation was placed over the contaminated insulation. I decided to inform Ace and request that it be re-done. The following is the timeline and related facts. Called them 12/12/16 spoke to Kelly (She actually never told me her name but that is the name on the final paperwork). I informed Kelly of the situation. Kelly said that someone would come out to investigate the situation 12/14/16 at 8 AM. Nobody showed up. Called at 10:46 AM spoke to Kelly again. Kelly said that she remembered me and that Ashley was coming but she had other customers to visit so that is why she was late (1). Kelly asked for my address again (1). Ashley called at 10:52 AM to say that she was on her way. Ashley arrived at my house. Ashley went into the attic to examine the situation. Ashley confirmed that the contaminated insulation was never removed. Ashley asked for paperwork. I showed Ashley work order with the company logo and letterhead (2). Ashley said that "Mike" did the original work and that he was an underperforming employee that the company had fired (3) and that is the reason the job was done incorrectly. Ashley thought that it was strange that the original job took more than one day because they never take more than one day for insulation (4). Ashley said that they would perform the decontamination and insulation removal and replace again and that someone would call by 12/20/16 to schedule. Ashley said that the owner is out of the country but it wouldn't be a problem because Kelly is his daughter and she can contact him at any time (5). Did not receive a call. Called 12/21/16 spoke to Kelly. Kelly gave several reasons for not calling: – they were having trouble finding a crew to work on it because they had to find people willing to work for free because the company wouldn't be receiving any additional money so they wouldn't be able to pay the crew any money. – they could not find documentation of the job and suspected that Mike had done the work and collected the money for himself (2). – the owner had to approve the order (14) and he was out of the country Kelly said once she heard back from the owner she would call. Did not receive a call. Called 12/26/16 3:46 PM spoke to Kelly. Kelly said that it would probably be fixed sometime later next year. I said that was unacceptable. Kelly screamed at me and again cited the inability to communicate with the owner, who was out of the country (5). I asked Kelly to have the owner call me directly then. Kelly said ok. Ashley called 4:14 PM (same day) and again stated that they could not perform the job until getting the owner's approval and that he would call me sometime next week. I said that if the owner did not call me by 12:00 PM 12/27/16 that I would find someone else to complete the job and seek indemnification for losses from Ace Wildlife. Ashley said that the owner would call back. I did not receive a call from the owner. Ashley called back 4:48 PM (same day) to confirm that they would perform the job. Ashley said that they would arrive between 7 AM and 8 AM on 12/29/16. Ashley called at 8:55 AM 12/29/16 to say that they were on their way. Ashley, Kelly, and another unnamed male arrived at 9:30 AM. I pointed out to Ashley the vent where the raccoons had entered in the past. I showed Ashley that there was a loose piece of siding where the raccoons were trying to enter again and that I screwed a piece of 2x4 over the vent and the piece of siding (6). Ashley said that they would repair where the raccoons tried to enter again. I told Ashley that I wanted to inspect the attic after all insulation had been removed, prior to adding any new insulation (7). I told Ashley that when they empty the new bags of insulation that she should pile them up in the garage. Ashley said they can't do that, they throw the empty bags out immediately. I said that I had to have some way of verifying how much insulation was going into the attic. Ashley said that they have 17 bags. I asked what R value they would be installing. Ashley said R 30. I photographed two different kinds of insulation, one white, one pink (12). They began removing the old insulation. They worked until 11 AM and left for lunch. They returned at 1:30 PM and worked until 5 PM. Unnamed male said that they didn't know how heavy cellulose insulation was. Unnamed male said that they didn’t have enough room in the truck to remove all insulation. Ashley said I had a piece of siding missing. I asked Ashley if it fell into their truck. Ashley said that it was not possible, that it was not there when she got there at the beginning of the day (6). Ashley said they would be back at 8 AM the next day (4). Ashley said that they had to go to the dump first, that it opens at 7 AM (8). They didn't show up. They did not call. I called at 11 AM, spoke to Kelly. Kelly said that they were on their way and that they had to wait for the dump to open (8) and that Ashley had an emergency call. Kelly said they would arrive at noon. They arrived at 1 PM. They continued removing insulation. I went outside at 2 PM. They were installing new insulation while still removing contaminated insulation (7). I approached Kelly. Kelly said that she was just about to come get me to inform me that I could inspect where they had removed the contaminated insulation. I went into the attic to inspect. I saw raccoon feces in the attic in a large hole in the fan fold that the raccoons used as an exit. A different male was adding new insulation right next to it. I told him that the feces was there and he said he didn't know anything, that it was his first day working for Ace Wildlife (9). He said to ask Kelly. I told Kelly. Kelly said that Ashley already went in there and looked and that it was not raccoon feces (10). I told Ashley. Ashley said that she didn't go in there (10) because Mike did not specifically list that area on the original work order (3). I told Kelly. Kelly said that it wasn't feces. I said that it was and re-iterated the concern. Kelly conceded that it might be feces and she would look. Kelly looked and said that it was pieces of "corkboard". I went into the hole and pointed directly at the feces. Kelly conceded that it was feces. Frustrated, I told Kelly that I should make them remove the insulation that they had added today and reinstall because of this, but that I was not going to do that. Kelly screamed at me, informing me that it was good that I did not make that demand because they didn't have any more insulation. I told Kelly that they needed to repair the hole in the fan fold. Kelly said that they wouldn't because it was "better" for my house to have the hole. I asked Kelly why they had someone installing insulation who had never done it before. Kelly said that the person was her brother and that it was a family business and he had been working for Ace Wildlife for a long time (9). They worked until 6 PM. Kelly’s brother told me that they had run out of insulation because Mike had measured incorrectly on the initial work order. Mike indicated 1651 sq. ft. but Kelly’s brother said that it was around 1900 sq. ft. (11). I asked Kelly’s brother if he was sure that it was more and he said that it was because he measured it himself. Kelly’s brother said that he needed 800 more sq. ft. (11). [Note: numbers are not typos] Kelly’s brother said that they could go to Home Depot and get more insulation but it would not be the same color (12). I said that I didn’t care about the color. I again brought up the fan fold. Kelly's brother said he didn't know what fan fold was and that it could not be purchased locally. Kelly’s brother said that they would be back the next day (12/31/16) to finish (4). I asked Kelly’s brother what time. Kelly’s brother said that it would be 8 AM if not earlier. Kelly’s brother said that it would not take long, that it would be just him and one other male worker (13). Ashley called at 8:45 AM 12/31/16 to say that they would arrive shortly. Ashley and unnamed male arrived at 9 PM (13). They worked for about an hour and a half. They did not repair the fan fold. They finished blowing in new insulation. I inspected the insulation and saw that it was not deep enough for R-30 (see pic). I informed Ashley and unnamed male. They said that they were done. Ashley had me sign a new work order. The work order had the exact same verbiage as the original except that they were voiding the warranty. I asked Ashley to add a note on it describing why they had to return to re-install the insulation. Ashley initially refused citing lack of space on the work order as the reason. I showed Ashley a location where she could write it. Ashley said that the attic actually measured 2400 sq. ft. (11) and the half of the house that was not done properly on the initial visit was because that was not included in the original work order. I asked Ashley for the forms that I should have that Mike did not provide. Ashley said that the work order was the only form (2). They left. Ashley called moments later asking if she could come look for her phone in the attic. Ashley received a call from Kelly while looking for her phone. Ashley and Kelly appeared to have an argument. After the phone call Ashley spoke more candidly. Ashley indicated that she does not like working for Kelly but leaving the company would be uncomfortable because her and Kelly had been friends for a long time. Ashley said that Kelly runs the company now (14).

We contacted Ace Wildlife in the morning after one of the skunks had sprayed under the foundation of our garage in the middle of the night (if you've ever experienced this, you know exactly what I am talking about....that acrid buring tire smell so intense it wakes you from a dead sleep. Oh, and then the HVAC system proceeds to spread it throughout every room of your entire home). Anyway, I spoke with Kelly and she said that if one of the techs could not get out there that day she would come out herself to set the traps. Kelly showed up that same day, determined we had a small den under the garage's stone foundation where skunks were living, and set the trap in such a way that the skunks under there would have only one exit point into the trap. Over the course of the next week, Kelly and Jarrod successfully captured and removed four skunks from under there. Each time a skunk was captured, they came right out the same day I called them to remove the skunk and set a new trap. They even came out on days when I didn't call them to replace the bait in the trap with fresh food. After several days of no skunks in the trap, Kelly and Jarrod dug an 8 foot wide by 2 foot deep trench by hand, closed up the den opening using bricks and stones, and attached heavy-duty wire fencing flared out at the bottom against the foundation to prevent other animals from digging down to get back in. Kelly and Jerrod were knowledgeable, professional, and overall just super nice people. They perform a difficult job, and do it very well. If I ever have any more nuisance animals to be removed in the future, I'll definitely be giving them a call.
Description of Work: We had a family of skunks living in a small space under the foundation of our century home, causing a terrible smell in the house as a result. Services performed: 1) Trapping and removal of four skunks 2) Trenching and fencing of foundation (8' wide x 2' deep) to prevent further animal activity

They came promptly and did an outside inspection. They said the house didn't have any places where one could get in. They then offered an estimate to animal proof my home for $2500. I called another animal removal service who spent much more time looking for the opening. He believed he found it and came back the next day and was correct. Maybe Ace should have spent more time looking for the opening. The gentleman seemed rushed. He took more time writing up my estimate than looking for the problem.

This service provider wasted 4 hours of my time and never showed up for not one but two appointments on two consecutive days. Interested in learning more? Read on. Imagine that you have unwanted critters running around in your house. You want someone who can get them out and keep them out where they belong! Would you rely on a company that has a history of not showing up when they say they will? I know I wouldn't. Yet, companies like Ace Wildlife Service still continue doing (or not doing) business. The technician (Alex) made an appointment for noon on Friday. When I hadn't heard from him till around 11 AM I called the office and they said they would have him call me back. Alex called at 11:30 AM and said he would be there at 12:30. You should know by now how this went. He did not show up till at least 1:30 PM, when I left and went back to work. After the customary apologies Alex makes an appointment for 10:30 AM on Saturday. Wow, a weekend appointment. This is special. Surely he will make up for his previous misdeeds right? Sure enough two hours later than the scheduled appointment guess who doesn't show up? You guessed it. What makes this extra special is that there were no phone calls to explain the reason for the delay or the no show from either the technician or the company. Now folks, when you search for a service provider on Angie's List you know how many dozens show up. The question I have for you is why take a chance with a company like this who has a proven track record of not showing up? Sure, you will read a bunch of reviews about how they did a good job. But think to yourself, when you have a raccoon or a squirrel or bats running around your house and everyone is in panic and you don't know what to do about it, do you want to take a chance?

It went very well. Travis caught the animal in a short amount of time, assessed that it had come down through the chimney, went up to look at the top of the chimney, told us what we needed and how much it would cost, and then put the new cap on and sealed it. All in about an hour. It was an extra $60 because it was on a Saturday.

I had raccoon's in that made their way into my roof. I saw one of them on my roof and called Ace that night. Travis from Ace was at my house first thing the next morning to set the traps. Over the next 4 days, there was a total of 3 raccoon's that were captured. Travis was extremely responsive. He was available day and night and even came out on a Sunday to remove one of the raccoon's. I also had Ace repair the damage the raccoon's caused. They removed all of the hazardous waste and put in new installation with no problem. I would definitely recommend this company.
Description of Work: They removed 3 raccoon's from my roof.

The young man who came out was very thorough and he tried his very best- we did actually trap one. So far, it seems to have been resolved and so I don't have any complaints about that whatsoever.
Description of Work: Ace Wildlife Service did animal removal for me; I had a squirrel problem.

Travis came out from Ace Wildlife services for what smelled like a large decomposing animal in attic, which I thought it was a squirrel. I had thrown mouse killing blocks into attic from access door in ceiling, but later realized that may not have been a good idea until I had clarified if there was a larger animal involved. I had localized the smell as definitely being over my bathroom and was running the exhaust fan and an air purifier 24hrs/day, along with frequent spraying of various air fresheners for approximately 4 days until I was able to research and coordinate visit. I had already wasted time waiting until a Friday evening for the person from different company be a no-show/no call. I spoke with Mike at Ace who was unable to come on weekend but he asked his brother, who was available. Travis called me, arranged an acceptable time, and called again when he was on the way as I'd also asked. He searched in a very difficult to access area above my bathroom (which overlies the garage) until he found an extremely stinky dead mouse next to a pipe, which had gotten deep under an area of insulation in the attic. Talk about thankful!!! He even mentioned that the offending odor typically can not be located. He came and called when he promised, was informative as to what he was finding during inspection and helpful afterwards regarding briefly how mice can get into home. It has been 3 days and the smell is virtually gone. ( whoo-hoo!) You should know that this company does NOT take care of mice. They are (larger) "nuisance animal" trappers/ extractors and will seal the large holes that they leave. For mice, you need to contact a "pest" control company, ( apparently to handle pesticides) which is what I did after Travis found mice to be my problem. I would definitely recommend this company and use if I have a larger animal (eg- squirrels, raccoons, bats etc..) due to professionalism, knowledge and especially courage to go where he needed in the home to find the problem.
Description of Work: He came to assess my attic for animals I'd heard and to remove one that smelled dead.
