It was a great experience. The only issue I had was that I was not aware of the $25 fee to remove the racoons from the humane trap. I would have hired them anyway as I had to catch the groundhog. They were very nice, on time, and very professional. They explained the entire process.
Description of Work: We had a groundhog that had decided to live under our patio in back of our house. He was tunneling under the patio and had dug out some of our foundation. We tried to catch him in a humane trap and euthanize him but all we got were racoons. They finally used a kill trap and we got him the 2nd day. They removed the 2 racoons we got in the humane trap and let them free and then removed the groundhog once he was killed.

They asked $139 to remove a small woodchuck that we had already trapped in a live trap. That's fine, of course, and their right to charge, but if that's what you want and you think that's a high price then this is to save you a phone call. There are others who do it for less; call around.

We were very pleased with the interaction we had with ACE. The "work" that needed to be performed was not his expertise, so he gave us the name of a colleague. This experience helped point us in the direction of someone to do the job in the way we wanted (non-lethal mouse control). Ultimately he spent a good deal of time but did not charge us the service fee which we felt was very generous and spoke to the integrity of his company. We are grateful for his time and talents, would definitely recommend ACE and will use them if we have any "larger animal" problems in future.

Mike was professional, knowledgeable and prompt! I called him once and he was all over it. He kept in contact with my tenant and let her know what was going on from start to finish. This made her feel at ease and made my life a lot easier. When the job was done he called me and gave me an update. I wish every contractor was this good!
Description of Work: My tenant contacted me and said there were animals in the house. She thought they were squirrels but was not sure. I spoke with Mike at ACE and he came out the same day. He set up a trap on the roof for a raccoon and did not need access to the residence. The next day he retrieved the raccoon and then looked around other areas of the house to make sure there were no other animals. He also offered an additional service to repair the places that animals could get into the house. We took advantage of that and the total bill was $449. A small price to pay to protect our rental and keep our tenants happy.

On May 29th they came out because I had spotted a bat in the attic the night before. I paid $95.90 for the trip. I was told that I did have bats and that there was evidence that they were getting into the attic. On June 3rd I left a check for $856.61 for them as I was told I had to pay the full amount up front to have the bats removed. The check was picked up but the work was not done. I talked to the owner and was told the guy would return the next day. I was told by the neighbor he returned with a friend and was here for a short time. The work was not done. It took until July 17th to finally get the work completed that I had paid for. Another employee completed the job and he was very professional by the way. He is the only reason I am rating this company a C. The owner didn't seem too concerned about the problem. With bats there is also a clean up issue afterwards. This was covered by insurance and I used the company that they suggested because I was not comfortable with this company. The clean up is much more expensive than getting rid of them. I am now planning a remodel which will remove the old drywall and I guess that is when I will find out if they really got rid of the bats. I'm still afraid to go up there after dusk. I called this company because Ace Wildlife had very good reviews but I think I was the victim of a bad employee. I believe they are a legitimate company and these things can happen but bats freak me out and I didn't need the added stress on top of it.

They came the same day I had called and installed the trap on the roof. Raccoons sleep during the day. She was trapped that evening coming out of the attic. I was told that there was no inside damage since the raccoon was in the attic only 2 days. The guy said there were no "trails" in the blown insulation. I could hear it walking in the attic. I am not so sure about what he saw or did not see. They installed a second trap when the raccoon was removed in case there was a 2nd one still in the attic. I had them raccoon proof all of the window soffits. Service call $89 Raccoon removal $50 Each soffit fix $45

Ace did a good job of initially reviewing our situation and placing a variety of traps out to catch squirrels that were getting into our house. They also placed duct tape over possible entry points to check to see how they were getting in. We have a very tall old house that makes this type of work difficult for us to do ourselves. They came right out when a squirrel was trapped. Unfortunately, they allowed the first squirrel that they caught to escape as they were loading it into their truck, which probably made it a lot more difficult to catch it again. Eventually they caught a 2nd squirrel, but did not identify the point of entry; they also didn't seem to believe our idea about one possible point of entry under our front porch, which we are certain is likely; I think they just didn't want to crawl under there. We had a week or so of silence, and thought we were OK, so they came and took away their traps. Within another week or so, though, we had more squirrels. My wife called them back, and a week later we received a message that they would come back out, but we never heard from them again. We eventually set cage traps in our attic and crawlspaces inside, and caught three more before the activity has seemed to stop (for now). We still don't know how they are getting in, which is really what we wanted to find out. To their credit, though, Ace only charged us for the first service call and not the 2nd trapping (or 1st unsuccessful trapping), which is good because the trapping charges are $50 each!!

He was very prompt and came the next day to set some traps. We waited a week, but the animal never returned. However, he does do repair work! He came with a repair person and they replaced the plywood and rolled out new surface material. Because I used him for the repair, the trapping would have been free if anything was caught. Because it seemed obvious that the animal wasn't going to come back, he took the traps away. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and easy to talk to. The new roof looks much better!

The company's owner responded by phone to my call. He explained that it was not necessary for me to be home when they came to set out the live trap. When I got home from work, the trap was in place and baited. Instructions were left as to what to do when I checked the trap in the morning. Overnight a raccoon was caught in the trap-a very raucous raccoon! I phoned in the morning before I left for work. When I returned that evening, the raccoon was gone and two traps were set. Before I went to bed, a groundhog was in one of the traps. I phoned. The groundhog was removed the next day. A bill was left in my box. The burrowing hole was filled in. A note explained that I should phone within two weeks if the hole was excavated because that would be evidence of more than one groundhog. No further contact was necessary. I found it interesting that I never actually saw anyone from the company. They did what they promised to do and left a bill for their services not knowing if they could trust me or not. I am conflicted about the initial $89 cost of delivering and baiting a trap. On the one hand, a live trap (that can be reused) and an apple (that cannot be reused) do not seem to be a substantial investment on the part of the company. On the other hand, I don't own a live trap. I did what I had to do by hiring them and they delivered a service as promised. The groundhog had undermined the porch so something needed to be done. I have since obstructed the entry at that access point and am hoping wire and brick will encourage future groundhogs to seek shelter elsewhere.

Mike arrived the same day that I called, despite the inclement weather. He verified that there was no raccoon entry in the attic but he saw evidence on the roof that the bandit eyed vermin had been up there. Based on what I told Mike regarding the infrequency of the raccoon noises, he stated that in his opinion they were just 'coming to visit' and not 'nesting'. With that said, I decided not to place a trap. Mike said to call him at anytime raccoon activity was heard and he would come back. Well the raccoon came back the very next day and Mike sent someone over immediately to place the traps. Of course, now that we had traps the raccoon did not come back (just like Mike said!). Mike and his co worker were both very professional. I would recommend Ace Wildlife to anyone in need of this type of service.

Over the past ten years I have experienced a bat in my house several times. The last time this happened in December of 2005, I contacted Ace Wildlife Services. They sent a technician who walked the roof and perimeter looking for evidence of bat entry. When a spot was discovered, the technician took steps to allow bats to escape to the outside but not allowing them to reenter. Several weeks later he returned to seal up the hold. A few weeks ago I went up into the attic and discovered a dead bat. I called Ace Wildlife and arranged for a technician to come out. He came and removed the carcass and checked for signs of bat activity. He was unable to find any such evidence. The dead bat that he removed had apparently been there for a long time and just not noticed until I began moving boxes.
