We called Moore Home Remodeling - MHR - to come by and take a look at our drop ceiling in the basement. It was sagging and unattractive and needed to be replaced. They were very prompt with the initial estimate and due to family issues, we had to delay the job by 4-6 months. They stayed in contact with us during the hiatus and when we were ready to start, they was no delay on there part and the start was seamless. They did an amazing job with the ceiling and the estimate was exactly what we paid. We were able to select the tiles we wanted and they installed them beautifully. Excellent work MHR! We will be calling again for future needs and referring out to friends and family with confidence!
Description of Work: They tore down and replaced an out-of-shape drop ceiling we had in our basement. They tore down, cleaned up, laid a new framework and installed the new tile.

Tearing out the old kitchen floor was a lot of work, but it was accomplished without a great deal of mess (except in the kitchen, of course). Laying tile is very labor intensive, but, again, the team almost made it seamless. If I had gone along with Brett's recommendation for laying the tile, I could have made the job a bit easier, but I had a different vision and the team supported it. I have long wanted a tile floor in my kitchen and I love it. I don't know how I stood the vinyl that was in there for as long as I did. The door between the garage and kitchen is so much nicer than the one that was there and the sliding door replaced a door that had a one inch gap at the top. I could not be happier with the finished work and would highly recommend Moore Home Remodeling.
Description of Work: Moore Home Remodeling tore out my kitchen floor and replaced it with tile. They also painted the ceiling and walls, replaced the woodwork, put in a new door between my garage and kitchen and installed a new sliding glass door to replace my old one.

This was our first time doing any type of major demolition/reconstruction project and it went very well. From the beginning, both Brent and Diana were very attentive to our needs and guided us through the design process with good insight and a clear understanding of what we were trying to achieve. Both Brent and Diana were very responsive to every question and or need and were very flexible to communicating in a way that suited our busy lives (we did a lot of communicating over email because we preferred that method). I appreciated Diana's insight on what 'look' I was trying to achieve in the kitchen and she guided me expertly - she really understood what I wanted to do and always gave me great ideas and was available for all my questions. As the project kicked off, the crew that did the work arrived every day at a consistent time and got to work. I was there to see their work and progress and they worked hard, consistently, and showed up every day to do work. Any time an issue came up (as there were surprises because of attributes of my older home), Brent always came over immediately, explained the issue in detail and gave us options. Brent was always accessible and responsive and I appreciated it. At no point did I feel like my project was stalled or off track. I felt like I got full attention. I really did appreciate Brent's work style. I feel that he was always honest with us and he did right by us in all situations that came up. He had a tremendous attention to detail and ensured that our project was 'right' and corrected things that our eye did not pick up. The key points about my kitchen that I think really set it apart and I think are a direct reflection of the excellent guidance/work I got from this company: 1) my cabinets are absolutely beautiful and are of excellent quality - for what I paid I got every pennies worth; 2) my granicrete countertops that are truly a masterpiece work of art. My countertops were done by Rodney who is clearly an artist and created a phenomenal look for my counters; 3) the design of my kitchen and how it is configured is absolutely fantastic; Diana took an incredibly small space and made it incredibly functional as well as appear to be triple it's size; 4) my marmoleum click floor; Diana gave me the courage to use this product and the design that the crew was able to install from my "vision" is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend this company
Description of Work: Consulted on and redesigned kitchen; Gutted kitchen; re-did electrical/plumbing/heating; installed dry-wall; installed a custom basket weave tri-colored click-marmoleum flooring; installed new cabinets with totally new layout;, installed sink/disposal/faucet; installed over stove microwave; installed dishwasher and stove; installed can lighting and multiple new outlets; installed and designed custom and unique granicrete finished countertops; moved water line, gas line, and heating vent; widened doorway to dining room; reshaped arched doorway from kitchen to be in line with new depth of cabinetry; ensured that 'faux finish' painting in adjacent room that was disturbed by widening of the doorway was restored to the way it looked prior to the project.

MHR were very prompt and stuck to our deadlines and budget. The finished products in both the master bathroom and the family room look very good. One small issue was that the tile person damaged the hot water tap in the bathroom while ripping out the existing tiles. But Brent has been prompt to make several trips to fix this problem once it was detected (after the bathroom remodeling work was completed). Both Brent and Jay (who was in charge of our project before he quit MHR) were very responsive and showed personal interest.
Description of Work: MHR remodeled our master bathroom and did woodwork to hide wiring in the family room. We had the entire tilework done, a new cabinet with granite countertop and a new toilet installed in the master bathroom. We had a cabinet work done (including some drywall work) to hide electrical connections in the family room.

I had Brent out to give me an estimate for work in our master bathroom. He was on time and came with a woman (I'm assuming his wife?), but I wasn't introduced to her. I liked his ideas for the bathroom, but I never heard back with the estimate. He was supposed to email me the quote as well as ideas for our bathtub and the tile surround. I was told I'd get an email in a couple days. However, the main reason I didn't use Brent was because he made a couple comments regarding my home (insulting the paint color scheme we chose that he thought the builder chose and also something else regarding the bathroom that escapes me) and it really turned me off from using him. He seemed to really know what he was doing and I'm sure he does great work, but I felt he should have censored himself more, especially being that he hadn't even secured the job yet. He just lacked a little professionalism by making comments about my home.

As the member indicates, Brent and I (Diana Phillips-MHR Designer/Estimator) did arrive on time to the scheduled appointment. Unfortunately she was not there when we arrived. We waited about 5 or 10 minutes then called her to see if she wanted to keep the appointment. She did and arrived about 5 minutes later. She was hurried as she explained that we should go to the front door and wait while she took her toddler in through the garage and took the dog out to the back yard. When she came to the front door apologizing, both Brent and I introduced ourselves and told her we understood, these things happen and it was alright. Perhaps this was a confusing moment where details were missed. While the member was explaining to us the work she was looking to have done, she also expressed dissatisfaction with some of the choices they had made, in an effort to cut costs, when building the 3 yr old home. From my perspective, Brent was empathizing with her and in fact pointed out that some of her choices would actually keep her costs down, as budget was one of her main concerns, on the current project. As we concluded our appointment the member again expressed unhappiness with some color choices that a friend had helped her pick out and she was "talked into". We both tried to reassure her that the colors looked nice. Brent did suggest that she might have liked one wall in an accent color. It's regrettable that she took our comments personally; this is what we do. We discuss the things homeowners are not happy with concerning their homes and make suggestions. We both thought and commented that her home was well decorated, however, she was at times distracted by and apologized for her toddler. We again reassured her that he was adorable and she didn't need to apologize for his very talkative nature. We were trying to hear the details of what the member wanted, through a few common distractions that we deal with everday: pets, children, unexpected delays, while trying to reassure her about the issues she seemed frustrated with. We are surprised and disappointed that it wasn't received that way. Lastly, our appointment was on Tuesday afternoon and although there was a slight delay because because Brent sustained a non-job-site related injury on Thursday, for which he spent the day in the ER, and we were closed for one day to celebrate the Forth of July holiday, we did have her estimate delivered to her within four business days. I must say, that although we are disheartened that apparent miscommunications occurred, her insticts are correct when she writes, "He seemed to really know what he was doing and I'm sure he does great work". MHR truly wishes the member the best with her project and hope that she gets to enjoy as much of her pregnancy soaking in a new tub as possible.

My wife and I were very much at ease and comfortable working with Brent Moore (owner) from the very beginning. Brent was very patient with us and visited several times before we committed to the project to fully understand what we wanted and our budget and to answer any questions we had. We also communicated frequently via phone and email. Brent was very helpful in offering some great suggestions for designing the shower area that we would never have thought of. For example, Brent suggested wall cutouts above both sides of the shower area which really opened up the shower/bathroom and made it seem more spacious. He also recommended a relatively new concrete based resurfacing product (granicrete) for the interior walls and floor of the shower instead of tiles. The granicrete can be installed and colored to look like real stone. We were apprehensive at first since we had not heard much about this product, however, Brent assured us if we did not like what we saw we could revert back to conventional tiles. Brent's brother, Rodney, did the installation of the granicrete product and the artisan work. We relied on Rodney to suggest a design and color scheme and he did a fantastic job. The walls and floor look like real stone! Rodney also helped with the color matching for the paint in the bathroom. He really has an eye for color and artistry work. I highly recommend the granicrete product if you are looking to resurface you shower or even countertops or floors. Throughout the project, Brent kept us informed on the on the status of the project. The crew was very professional, courteous and cleaned up after themselves on a daily basis. Plastic runners were also placed on the floors/carpet from the house entry up to the bathroom to keep dirt/dust off. Project was completed on time and within budget (Note: The painting of the ceiling was not in the original budget, however, Brent did it at no charge). The bathroom and shower look beautiful and we couldn't be happier. We highly recommend Moore Home Remodeling for your remodeling job.
Description of Work: Remodeled master bathroom. Specifically, tore out existing one piece fiberglass shower and designed/installed new walk in shower including walls and surfacing walls with granicrete (see below), base, niches, shower base curb and frameless glass shower door. Raised height of shower head. installed new bathroom fixtures (sink faucet, towel bars and hook, shower head and trim), and new toilet. Cut out openings in the walls above the shower area. Patched holes, drywalled where needed, and painted entire bathroom and ceiling. All debris was removed and hauled offsite.

This contractor offered a coupon through Angie's List for a $500 value kitchen design service for $79. Mr. Moore was responsive to our contact, and arrived in a timely fashion for our appointment. Mr. Moore was very thorough in his assessment of our kitchen and master bath, and had a number of great suggestions to make on the remodel that we are planning. We have not yet received a preliminary design from Moore Home Remodeling, but based on Mr. Moore's personal philosophy and communications regarding his work, and on his profile in Angie's List, we will very likely hire Moore Home Remodeling for our planned kitchen and bath updates. Mr. Moore is personable and candid, which we appreciate very much. We look forward to working with him soon.

Brent was timely with his emails, very thorough with his proposal and information provided, and was very professional and personal.
Description of Work: We had asked Brent for a proposal on our basement remodeling with a home theater. We chose to go with another contractor for a similar price but it was only due to experience with prior home theater construction. Brent, the owner of Moore Home Remodeling, met with us to initially update our kitchen. Brent is a patient man as my wife and I continued to work through the project and revised what we wanted to do as the project moved along. Eventually, we ended up with a total remodeling of the kitchen and laundry room and a wonderful update to the half bath next to our kitchen. Brent was very creative and offered lots of choices as well as his personal advice. That was all very valuable and most appreciated. When the work began, his small dedicated crew were absolutely top notch. They all were sticklers for detail and I often heard phone conversations in which they would consult with each other on the best approach to various challenges as the work proceeded. I happened to be present the day the building inspector came through. He made an off hand comment to Sam, Crew Chief, just before he left. "Sam, you sure do quality work." Well, that was music to my ears and I couldn't agree more. Our kitchen is absolutely amazing. We just recently had a neighborhood party and two of my neighbors are now having Brent provide estimates for remodeling of their bathrooms. That, to me, speaks volumes. My wife and I are looking forward to working with Brent again when we update our upstairs bathrooms. Many thanks to Brent, Sam, and the rest of the crew for taking such good care of us and being so detailed in their work.
Description of Work: All kitchen cabinets were replaced, new granite counter tops were installed, a new sink and faucet were replaced, new under cabinet lighting was installed, and a tile back splash was installed. In the adjacent half bath a new granite counter top was installed, new lighting, new sink, and a new faucet were also installed. The laundry room single cabinet was replaced with double cabinets along with a new laundry tub & cabinet, and sink. All three rooms have new door handles. The plumbing in the half bath and laundry room provided some real challenges and those challenges were met with high quality solutions.

I called ahead of time to schedule an appointment. I let them know that the estimate needed to be done before 10/15. They called and scheduled an appointment for 10/14. I had to leave work early to make the appointment therefore missing out on 2hrs pay. I called to confirm that the appointment was still scheduled but there was no answer so I left a message. I drove out to the house and no one ever showed. I called back but got voice mail again. After waiting more than an hour I went home. As I was arriving home, I received a text from the owner Brent stating that it was one of his employees that was suppose to show up to do the estimate. At that point I was not going to drive 20 minutes back to the house. A little better communication & a call saying they couldn't make it would have not been too much to ask.

This member is correct, we did have a slight issue in meeting with this home owner. This member set an appointment with Sam and then did not take Sam's number with him. The member called to confirm but I was in and estimate. In all fairness had he had the right number he would have actually confirmed with Sam. Sam was in an estimate that took longer than he planned for. By the time he got out the member would not take Sam's calls. We tried calling and texting for two hours or more and the member would not respond to us. Yes I and Sam have ownership in this mix up, as does the member. We left several messages trying to communicate and apologize.

I could not be more pleased with our new kitchen and with our experience with this builder, his crew, the price, the quality of his materials and workmanship, and the quality of his selected subcontractors. This was a very extensive remodeling project, which basically took our house from the 1950s into the 21st century. My first goal was to obtain a design which would open up the kitchen, dinette and dining room space and make it more usable by visually connecting them, and repurposing the existing dinette space to an in-kitchen office area. Mr. Moore patiently provided me with numerous design iterations until we had one that clicked. He was adamant that I needed to be completely happy with the design before proceeding. I don't know how many he gave me (8? 9?). But then finally, there it was, the design that clicked. I simply cannot emphasize how important it is, when doing an extensive remodeling project like this one, to get a good design before proceeding. Selecting materials was also an extensive project, and Mr. Moore again was patient and provided me with advice throughout to be sure I was satisfied with the materials I selected. The subcontractors he selected for the tile and the countertops were also very helpful in the design selections. I had a pretty good idea where I wanted to go design-wise (we?ve been in this house for 17 years) with this space, but I still spent a fair amount of time researching design and materials on the internet. I also visited some showrooms and stores and discussed options with a variety of experts. In short, I had to do my homework to be sure that I selected the materials and designs I was going to be happy with. I estimate that the planning phase, including the design, materials selections, and finalizing the contract, took almost 3 months. Then we had to pack everything into boxes and move the boxes and set up a temporary space to use during installation. The actual construction phase took 8 weeks. The construction was not without glitches, but Mr. Moore was always on top of the problems and he and his crew handled them to my complete satisfaction. To give an example, when the crew removed the bathroom flooring the old ceramic wall tile ? which I liked and wanted to keep ? was so old that a lot of it fell off. And the ones nearest the floor broke. I was upset because it was one of the few old things I had really wanted to retain. The crew cleaned the old tile and reglued the ones that fell off. The tile subcontractor selected a new, complimentary tile for the line of tile around the floor using a ?shoe? tile which provides a lip that goes over the flooring. The color he selected is perfect. Then the tile subcontractor regrouted the old tile. It looks like new! And the shoe tile against the flooring looks wonderful. A final comment about price. Mr. Moore was very good about providing reasonable estimates and forewarning me about possible change orders, since we were going to be uncovering stuff in an old house. He also told me exactly what his work would cover so I could budget my other costs for the project, such as furniture, pendant lights and window coverings. He itemized the costs so that when deciding upon the final contract, I could decide which ?bells and whistles? I wanted to pay for. I think that his price was completely reasonable, which, when combined with the high quality of the work, the excellent communication throughout, and the timeliness with which the job was finished, simply cannot be beat.
Description of Work: (1) Designed a new kitchen and an in-kitchen office to replace the existing 1950s kitchen and dinette area. (2) Removed old cabinets, flooring, countertops, wallpaper, sink and fixtures, soffits, wall between rooms, light fixtures and door. (3) Complete installation and upgrade of the kitchen and an in-kitchen office, including floors, cabinets, granite countertops, desk, lighting, electrical upgrade, plumbing, skylight, new post-and-beam system where the wall was removed, breakfast bar, tile backsplash, drywall, painting, ceiling texturing, sink, faucet, garbage disposal, stove vent/fan. (4) Upgrade the half bath including new floor, new commode and vanity, sink and faucet, cleaning, regrouting and partially replacing ceramic tile.

We could not be happier with Brent and his crew. They showed up on time and worked every day, all day. The quality of their work was wonderful and they did not leave even the smallest detail half done. I will use him again in a second. We had him bid against two other companies and his pricing was aggressive. He made the point up front that his bid was an estimate and the final quote would come when he sourced the materials. We accepted this and gave him the job conditional on his final price. He came in below both the other companies and his final bid was full and detailed. We gave Brent an aggressive time frame of 1 month and he ran over by about two weeks through no fault of his. There were problems with the granite and shower door fabrication and with those problems Brent kept on the details, pushing the subs and demanding the highest quality. He and Sam followed up relentlessly and kept us apprised of all the situations. To me the mark of a good contractor is how they deal with the inevitable problems, not how good they look in the bid. We got pricing on the cabinetry from two local companies and Brent said that he could beat the price with a company of similar quality that he deals with. He gave us the high quality cabinets we were looking for and saved us a boatload of money with American made cabinetry. He was not just looking to spend our money but looking for opportunities to save us money. The result is stunning. I wish that Angies list provided the ability to attach photos because the quality of the work is simply amazing. When they were done they pointed out a couple of flaws in the work that I did not notice and took it on themselves to correct it. He even paid for the corrections needed in that work and the cost overruns on the shower door and granite, that were not his fault, out of his profit and did not charge us. This, to me, was incredible. To summarize, Go with Moore Home Remodeling for your bathroom! You will not be disappointed.
Description of Work: We had a complete and high end master bath remodel done. Brent ripped out all the fixtures and the tile all the way down to the shell. We put in all new tile on the floor and tub deck, an new decorative tile shower, frameless glass shower door and all new fixtures. We put in new granite countertops, new cabinets, all new faucets, mirrors, and a heated towel bar. The granite placement was especially tricky because of the angles needed but Brent got that done for us as well. We kept our old tub but added a supplimental heater to keep the Jacuzzi water hot.

I have a small bathroom and Brent was extremely helpful in the design of the bathroom. He put a lot of time in to find the right size of the items needed. We were dealing with inches due to the size. From the start he provided me with options to choose from. Prior to starting the job and during the job, Brent was always accessible to answer any questions or concerns that I had either by phone or email. Brent and his crew did a wonderful job from top to bottom. You would never know that there used to be tile on the walls. This is my only bathroom and they made sure I had a working toilet every night. They removed all debris and cleaned up each day. I have received many compliments on the bathroom. I highly recommend Brent and will call him for my next project.
Description of Work: Bathroom was completely remodeled from floor to ceiling. Entire tub/shower area was gutted, sofit removed above tub, tile removed from the walls. Installed new tub, tub surround, glass shower doors, showerhead, ceiling fan, toilet, undermount sink, custom made banjo style countertop, recessed medicine cabinet, light fixture, vinyl flooring, moved electrical outlet and painted. Also installed two cabinets and wall hardware.

Brent Moore made appointment, was right on time and displayed good level of knowledge about remodeling. He questioned our needs, took measurements, and agreed to provide three options with prices and details. About one week later we received an e-mail with a range of costs for three options that included essentially no details of what would be provided. The project involved the installation of an expanded shower stall, (from three feet to four feet) a new toilet and new exhaust fan. The low cost option quoted a price of $9000 to $11000. I was shocked when I saw the pricing. I am very familiar with construction costs and I am confident that the project could be completed for less than half the quoted price. I have, in fact, received a subsequent quote for $3700 for the project. When I rejected his proposal based on the quoted price Brent responded with another e-mail justifying the price based on the need for "custom" installation. He claimed that he could not find any 48 inch shower pans. I made three calls afterwords and all three vendors told me that 48 inch pans were a standard item and readily available. I was very disappointed in Brent's response. It lacked detail and the quoted prices were, frankly, unsupportable. Moore has received many accolades on Angie's list for numerous qualities and I assume they were all well earned. My experience, however, based on his proposal was not positive.
Description of Work: Reviewed bathroom improvement project with homeowner and agreed to provide estimate with three options with details of each.

Response from Moore Home Remodeling and Handyman Services
I originally thought while at the estimate that I could provide a good better best estimate, but when I looked into the needed materials I found that there were two ways to do the job, both involved some customizing. When a homeowner does not provide us with a budget, we only provide a ballpark estimate or range pricing for the project based on our understanding of what they want. If the member had knowledge of building cost why did he not want to tell me his budget? It is true you can buy 48x36 shower pan, but when i checked with one of the largest suppliers around their response was no to a 36x48 that had matching walls, that is different. The way I understood what they wanted must not have been what they wanted. I don't understand how I am expected to give someone and exact price for a job when no finished materials have been selected. I am sure this member is aware that a shower door alone for his set up can cost under 200 dollars or over 1000, so again that is why we give a ballpark estimate. We are not the cheapest in town, nor are we the most expensive. I did explain that the shower could be done for less, but at a consequence of quality in materials. I am thankful for the AL members, they have been some of the best educated and willing to be educated people. I just wish that some would understand that a business at the top of the list is not going to be the same price as the laid off auto worker who started doing this work. I wish this member the best and hope they get what they are asking for, I am sure they are going to get what their paying for.

Everything was very satisfactory. They were ontime, they did a good job, and they were very prompt and patient.
Very pleased with the result. Brent and his hard working group were able to translate our vision of a "high end" Master bath renovation to perfection. Brent recommended we work with Bryan of US Marble and Granite for our marble, and plumbing accessories. That worked out well since Bryan had alot of experience and was invaluable with his suggestions and ability to procure the materials at a resonable price. We wanted the project finished before Christmas, (it started the 3d of Dec) but understood the dificulties involved with working around the holidays. I feel Brent and his group did the best they could and we were not upset with the finish of 14 Jan. The price was close to what was estimated (only $3k more) due more to our minor changes during the construction. We could not be happier with how our Master Bath has turned out and will use Moore Home Remodeling for any future projects
Description of Work: Complete Master bath renovation. New shower, whirlpool bath, vanity top, tile flooring, lights, and paint.
