Very well. Brent wasted no time in providing an accurate estimate. After approval he promptly ordered materials. As soon as the materials came in he started on the project. It was a new screening system that he was not familiar with, as well as a unique porch design, and yet he quickly figured out what he needed to do and made necessary alterations to make everything work. We are very happy with his work, as well the cleanup that his wife did after each visit. I would also add that he was very easy to work with. We would definitely recommend his company.

Brent and his team completely gutted and remodeled althea kitchen and bathroom in one of my rental properties. I was in a crunch and needed the work done in a very short timeframe. They ran I to several plumbing and electrical issues, but still met my deadline. The rooms are gorgeous. Brent made several decorative suggestions that looked great and even saved me a few bucks. I have worked with Brent for many years at several houses, including my own home. I would recommend him for any job, big or small.

Moore Home Remodeling recently gutted and replaced two bathrooms that had been virtually untouched for probably over 30 years. Plumbing and electric was fully replaced and updated for both, and venting systems were installed where there had never been any. The layout for the downstairs bathroom remained the same, but the layout for the upstairs bathroom was drastically changed to accommodate roof eaves in a much more sensible manner than previously. The downstairs bathroom was estimated as approximately a 3-week project. Old tile had been placed about two thirds up the walls; when the tile began to be pulled off, it was discovered that concrete was behind the walls and under the floor. Removal of the concrete added about a week to the project. An ancient shower – which had been leaking into the basement – was replaced, and an overhead light was installed which brightens the stall considerably. The upstairs bathroom was completely transformed for much more effective use of the available space. The shower/tub, which had little headroom under the roof eaves, was removed and the toilet and vanity shifted to the space where it had been. A new large shower with bench and large two-shelf niche was constructed away from the roof eave along an exterior window that provides the room with sunlight. The old wood-framed window, now within the new shower enclosure, was replaced with a large glass block window. A custom-made shower door and a rain shower head complete the remarkable transformation of a cramped and dingy bathroom space into a spa-like setting. This project was estimated to take about a month and did, with the shower door being installed within a couple of weeks later as its unique measurements could not be taken until tile work was completed. Brent and Diana offered many helpful thoughts and suggestions during the design and planning stage to homeowners who were renovation novices. They were on time to appointments and planning sessions and quickly responded to questions and concerns throughout the project. They also provided useful advice towards making cost-effective decisions to meet our budget without sacrificing quality. The very hard-working duo of Steve and Josh quickly allayed any concerns we had about “strangers” in the house. They worked efficiently but carefully and skillfully. Their tile work is superb – and there was a lot of it in both bathrooms – and the projects overall both exhibit a high level of craftsmanship and even artistry. They take pride in their work and were not satisfied until the finished job met their own high standards. They immediately addressed and remedied a few minor issues as they arose. Despite the reality that gutting a space involves a lot of dust, debris, and general mess, they showed great respect to our home and tried to keep the chaos contained. They also were willing to accommodate certain necessities because of a house pet. We cannot praise highly enough their work ethic and craftsmanship. After delaying these projects for many years because of, among other things, fear of paying good money to an unknown company for a potentially unsatisfactory outcome, we are very pleased with our beautiful new bathrooms. We highly recommend Moore Home Remodeling for their attention to detail, responsiveness, workmanship, professionalism, and genuine commitment to quality. We will certainly consider them for any future renovation projects.

Everything went extremely well. It was a pleasure working with Brent. He was easy to get a hold off & was constantly checking on the job to see how it was going. He had some great ideas on what to install & how to design the shower & floor. Steve, who did much of the work was always on time & worked really hard to make sure that everything was just the way we wanted it. Brent would do the same, making sure everything was just right. Definitely have Brent & Steve do work for us in the future.

We regret that this member's experience was not what she expected. A designer, Michelle, did meet with this member back in 2010. She left the meeting with the understanding that the homeowner only wanted new countertops. We try to follow up with the homeowner by phone and by email numerous times to see if the designer misunderstood the project or the homeowner misunderstood the design package that she purchased through Angie's List. Our attempts to communicate went unanswered. We also have follow up emails to Angie's List informing them of the situation. In any case it is always our goal to meet or exceed client expectations and for whatever reason that was not possible in this situation, we do apologize. We would also like to point to our excellent customer service reputation as expressed through the numerous reports for members for whom we have done work.

I gave an emergency call since I had to fire the other contractor and two bathrooms were not useable. They came out right away because The house was a second home and I was going back to Illinois. Brett drew up pictures and gave an estimate. They kept me informed and I drove out a few times. Very happy with the two new bathrooms.

I was very impressed with the design portion of this project. We sat down with them and they talked to us about what we wanted and how we lived and then did a thorough analysis of what our current house was like and what limitations we had to deal with. They came up with a redesign which blew us away. Construction phase went well also. How many projects of this kind actually finish within the time frame and within budget? When problems would come up as they always will, they were addressed quickly and completely. The crew always acted as complete professionals. They were reliable and dependable. Highly recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: MHR basically completely remodeled our home on the first floor and also added an additional room to the house. Rooms were taken down to the studs. The new layout includes a mud room, and an office, a larger family room and more open floor plan with the kitchen moved to the center of the house for a more livable home. Cherry cabinets and granite countertops with all wood floor added throughout with the exception of the mud room, which has slate flooring.

I had them to come out to give me an idea for modeling because I bought a house. I'm not doing anything for a while yet but just for ideas. And what was really strange was he never sent them. They're so busy and everybody's calling them, I'm sure if they did it they would send them. My experience with them was great and he was really good. He had good ideas and design arrangements. He is very good, professional and he was fine. He spent a lot of time and he was not like trying to rush out or anything.

They were easy to contact and came out at a mutaully agreed upon time and they arrived at the appointed time. This part was great. We explained we were wanting to get an idea of a revised layout to our kitchen. They took measurements, and sent us a plan that was the exactly what our kitchen looked like. Not a good return on our inventment. We haven't used a prepaid special since, because we thought this was such a disappointment.

Response from Moore Home Remodeling and Handyman Services
Honestly, we too were disappointed in this "deal" and have not done anything like this with Angie's List or anyone else since. A typical kitchen design to reconfigure a kitchen space is between $800-1500, even a design that includes for the purposes of an update with no reconfiguration cost us a minimum of a several hundred dollars. We understood this offer to be a modified service design deal that could be done at a drastically reduced cost; something we would do for homeowners who wanted us to do as simple layout for our line of cabinetry in their space. So each one, even after we received our portion of the price from AL would cost us appox. $150. We regret having been a part of this AL deal and apologize if the scope of what was being purchasing was not clear. Several of these deals were sold and we experienced both happy clients as well as some who expressed to us their disappointment. In the cases where we were aware of disappointment we either refunded their money or took a significant loss or in some cases went above and beyond for the design work to their satisfaction. In this particular case, I wish we would have known that the member was not happy with the design work back in 2011. In reviewing their folder, I see that all notes reflect an understanding on our part that they only wanted to do an update with no serious changes to layout as they were considering putting the home on the market. We do understand that initial miscommunications do sometimes happen as we and our clients are getting to know each other and we are typically able to use those times in our overall process to better understand our client’s wants and needs for an amazing experience and end result. In this case we can see where we tried to reach out to this member several times after the design was sent to see if they were satisfied with the layout and/or if there was anything further we could do and we show no reply or response, let alone any mention of disappointment. As I've indicated above, in our short run with this AL deal, and in our efforts to satisfy the homeowners who participated, we took complete responsibility for our service and good name whenever we were aware of any dissatisfaction to the point that we lost significantly from an investment standpoint overall. We were disappointed in how Angie's list sold this to us and to their clients. When we expressed our disappointment and what we believed to be a confusing sales pitch to one AL representative, he replied that he "would have never suggested that deal as a good fit" for us or our clients. Because we are a customer service oriented contractor we never engage in high pressure sales tactics to up sale our clients or close the deal. We believe our extensive record of excellent customer service overall speaks well for itself and we also believe AL should at the very least share this grade with us but unfortunately that's not how this works. It does seem like in this response the member is partially upset with AL as well. So that you understand how their deals work; when AL runs a deal, they keep a portion of the price and the service provider receives a portion. None-the-less, If we would have known, back in 2011, that this member was dissatisfied with the "deal" we would have offered a full refund on our behalf. We have never received a D for any work done on AL. In fact, prior to this, the only grade lower than B that we have ever had for work performed was a C posted by member for which we did speak to but did not perform the work she had done. Because, like most local, small businesses our name and reputation is what we exist on, and excellent customer service is our chief asset and goal, and even though we believe AL has some responsibility in the reasons listed in the report for dissatisfaction and this project was well over a year ago, we reached out to this member a little over a week ago and offered a full refund for the cost of the deal, $75. We asked that they reconsider the grade given in light of the fact that we had no idea they were dissatisfied and had no opportunity to reach our goal of "happy client-always" with them. We have had no reply or response. We understand this was a limited experience with us, and we apologize that it was not what was expecte. We believe the reviews others have left for us, when work was actually done, demonstrates our goal and intention always and a D is a drastic departure from who we are.

This major project was started on time and finished in about 10 weeks. They perform very high quality work, on time, and true to original estimate. Our first meeting had to be postponed weekly for about 2 months, pending actual ownership, and they were incredibly patient and responsive. The first walk through had me sold with their professionalism, care, attentiveness, and obvious expertise. I got pretty much everything on my want list because they are efficient and expert. The owner Brent, along with Diana his design expert, are very good at figuring out what the buyer wants ... this means that overall, there were very few hiccups to slow things down or create cost overruns. Whenever they presented me with my alternatives, they were already pretty sure what my needs were, and so very little time was wasted in re-doing anything, or waiting for a re-order. They pretty much "get it right" the first time. Whenever I had a question Brent or Diana would respond immediately and were always accessible. The crew is first rate, professional, quick, experienced, efficient - and they are a very nice bunch of guys. If there were any sub-contractor problems, I never was troubled by them. Brent was hands on from start to finish. They designed the new interior closets, two walk-in (one cedar), one walk in pantry; and the entire floor to ceiling garage storage; They designed the 4 walls of built in storage cupboards; They designed the fireplace mantel .. by the time we got to that detail, I told Brent to just build it and install it ... I didn't even need a picture ... that's how closely they listen and create confidence. I was right ... it's perfect. Often they would suggest an "upgrade" or even a simpler, less expensive way to go, for various, well thought out reasons, and I remain happy with every one I said "yes" to. Often enough, Diana would suggest a different outlook on design, and I learned to consider her opinion carefully ... I think I took every suggestion she made. I love my new space, and she was a very large part of that. This does not diminish Brent the owner, one bit ... he has a very discerning eye for design and detail. I am thrilled with my new home.
Description of Work: This was a total inside renovation of a 2200 sq foot condo. It was built in 1987, and everything was original including interior paint, carpeting, furnace and a/c. It was sad looking with a bad floor plan and a lot of "needs". Replacement included: Installed NAC brand vapor/moisture barrier to slab floor on lower level - this was a major project converting this lower half of the house to a dry and comfortable space; two sliding glass doors, two windows, and two exterior doors; high efficiency furnace, a/c unit, with all replacement duct-work and venting; new hot water tank; two levels of floor to ceiling painting - including garage, (they prime and sand the primer coat before finish coat ... the walls "ate" a lot of paint because it was all original .. and they did this part expertly), ceilings were completely redone to my taste in finish texture (a major job); Insulated entire ceiling on second floor; replaced much of the down ceiling and drywall down; replaced every single light fixture, and added several new ones, this included rail lighting and recessed lights all with dimmers; five pocket doors were installed to replace swing doors; completely re-carpeted entire home; installed hardwood flooring in the two new rooms and new walk in closet; replaced every single door handle, including exterior doors with locks. new work: interior walls to create 2 additional rooms and 1 walk-in closet; additional cedar walk-in closet; 4 walls of built-in interior storage cupboards; renovated 1 bathroom, moved a toilet, three walls of floor to ceiling storage in garage; gas to the kitchen to convert from electric; plumbing moved and installed to accommodate moving laundry room to the opposite end of the house, ran gas to this area for gas dryer; created a pantry room; new sink in new pantry; designed and installed mantel over fireplace, tile flooring in two entryways and two bathrooms;

The quote we got to finish a bathroom in our basement was over twice as much as we spent through Quality Construction Remodeling. Even with the cheapest materials (plastic flooring etc) the cost was going to be over $12,000 to complete a bathroom over concrete that was already framed with a ceiling, the door, and all the rough ins.

We would like to thank this member for the complimentary grades on our professionalism, punctuality, and responsiveness. We are not familiar with the other company mentioned here and therefore cannot speak to all the reasons why they may be so cheap. However that they would be able to do the work that we evaluated for the price as described is somewhat surprising to us. As registered and insured professionals in this industry with well over a decade experience working with homeowners, city building codes and inspectors, the estimate we offered this member was with consideration of the city requirements for a project such as this one. In this case the city required permits for the general work, as well as both a registered plumber and registered electrician, all costs that are beyond our ability to control. It is our position that permits are mutually beneficial to contractors as well as homeowners. The required inspections ensure that all work has been done correctly and complies with all city and safety codes. As a local, customer service driven company it is important to conduct our work in a manner that breeds trust and offers transparency in our partnerships with our clients. While, permits are not the most costly part of the job, the requirements and accountability that come with them often are. In this situation, it is our professional opinion, that having the work completed outside the local government requirements, that we, as a professional general contractor are bound to, would definitely account, in large part, for the possibility of cheaper work. We sincerely wish this member all the best.

MHR is a Design/Build company. We typically do larger, more multifaceted projects than the one described here, but we get MANY calls like this from Angie's List Members because of the large volume of quality reviews we have in our industry/area. When we get calls for projects like this and we feel that because of our current commitments it would take too long for us to get the job on our calendar, or because of location/distance it would not be cost-effective for the homeowner, our desire to be helpful usually takes over and we try, whenever possible, to recommend another industry professional better suitable for the job. Sometimes we take a homeowners information and try to pass it along to someone we trust to do good work. We do this in the spirit of trying to be helpful and serve our greater community as an industry professional. Whether or not the connection between the homeowner and the one we recommend (or pass the info to) works out or not is really out of our control. We are sorry if this member felt slighted by our efforts to steer him in a more appropriate direction. We do make mistakes from time to time and will reconsider whether or not there is a better way to still offer “free advice and referrals” without an assumption that MHR is responsible for the third parties follow-up. We still encourage homeowners to call and would like them to know that we believe in mutually beneficial projects; those that work best for the homeowner and for MHR. We understand that we are not the best fit for every situation under the"home improvement sun" and we wish every homeowner the best of luck with their endeavors.

They were very good; the owner, Brent Moore, came out and was an extremely good listener. We went through each thing that I wanted to do and I asked for a price range for each of the several items that I wanted to do. If I decided to go with him we will go into a design phase where I will actually pick out certain materials and fine tune the estimate. It went very well; Brent is professional and I liked him.

The initial visit was performed by Diana who went over what I was looking for and discussed the budget I was aiming for. She then had Brent come by for a review of the room in order to get a better estimate of the work required to upgrade the plumbing etc. Budget: An along with the draws outlined. The cost fell within my budget. Other estimates received for the same work was well over the final cost. Contract: The contract was broken down by fixtures/and other material (tile/hardware/fixtures/etc). This assisted in knowing the allowance for each item when picking the material out. The contract was well written and had the draws outlined so I knew what to expect. The final payment was a bit more than I anticipated but this was due to some changes I had made along the way (which I knew would cost more, but did not verify the cost). After explanation, I felt the changes costs were fair and reasonable. Design: We knew what we wanted from a layout perspective, for the details Diana worked with us to firm up our decisions and also offered samples of the tile, vanities and countertops. This really helped to put the pieces together. She gave us names of places to pick out the fixtures and tile. By having the allowance numbers for all the fixtures and tile, I was able to make decisions on where I wanted to splurge or stay within my budget. Work: The workers where on site as promised and worked all day. They arrived promptly in the morning and were very pleasant, including working around my 2 dogs. Demolition went as expected, with a minor issue with the debris pickup being delayed over the weekend (the debris was stacked neatly in back of my house). One area that could be improved was to block the return in my furnace to prevent the demo debris from falling into the return. This was a minor issue, and I made sure the filters were changed regularly during the entire process. Once drywall was installed, this was a non-issue. Brent/Diana were available anytime for any questions or problems. As the work moved into the finish work, there were some unexpected delays due to the countertops drying time that was not accounted for. The work did drag out a bit longer than anticipated, however the end product was worth the wait. All of the subcontractors involved arrived on time and were pleasant and thorough.. All permits were pulled as expected. Countertop: I can't be more pleased with the countertop which was suggested by Brent/Diana. The countertop is Granticrete, which was custom painted to look like granite to my specifications. All I can say is WOW! The final product is amazing and everyone cannot believe it is not stone. Brent, Diana and the workers were very conscientious and willing to work with me through any issues that came up. They strive to keep the customer happy. Inspection: Once all the work was done, Brent came and gave a final inspection of the work and did any minor cleanup work. He was very thorough and noticed that there was a defect in the faucets. He is working now to fix this issue to my satisfaction. I would recommend Moore Home Remodeling to anyone. They were a pleasure to work with.

Brent has been wonderful to work with because he is so flexible. We wanted to do most of the work ourselves, and he was prepared to work as an advisor and to put us in touch with the people we needed to do the jobs we couldn't do. Because we were finishing the basement in our spare time, we needed flexible help, and the team were always able to accommodate us. All the people he sent us were professional and courteous and any issues were quickly resolved. Finishing a basement is never a walk in the park, but Brent and his guys certainly made it as painless as possible.
Description of Work: Our intention was to do much of the work ourselves. Brent helped us with drawing up the plans, his guys installed the egress window, and did all the mudding and taping, as well as completing the last piece of drywall. Brent was an invaluable source of ideas, as well as advising on techniques and materials.
