Fantastic, Scott was on time, on task and very informative and professional. Use safety equipment to enter attic to build support for new ceiling fan. Cleaned work are after he completed job. Was informative as to future projects we are planning that he can do. We will certainly use Scott for future home projects and recommend him to our family and friends. Such a pleasure to find a true craftsman.

Very professional company and prompt in responding. Illean (manager) discussed the plan with me and made sure that we are on the same page. Pricing was reasonable and there was no hidden fees. Kevin was very professional, and did a great job. Would definitely hire again, thanks!
Scott Horrigan came to my house to address an electric light problem in my spare bedroom. He showed up on time, handled himself professionally, analyzed the issue, purchased the supplies needed to fix at Lowes, and resolved the issue timely. Would recommend to others for electrical needs. Cost was $150 for labor to remove and install new a light fixture and $75 trip charge to go to Lowes down the street and purchase supplies (I purchased supplies over the phone).

It was great. Scott Daniel Horrigan, was very professional and efficient. I had a great experience. It's the first time I used them and I would definitely use them in the future because I was very satisfied.
It went extremely well. They are a little more expensive than our previous handyman ( who retired & worked in his own) but the work done was professional & came with a warranty. Also it was done in time & efficiently. I would hire them again.

They were able to start working a week after we made contact which was extremely helpful as other companies wouldn't be able to come out to paint the exterior of our home for another six months. The contractors were professional, very skilled and worked quickly to finish the job. We are so pleased with the work they did and the service that Handyman Connection provided to us. Illean made the process so easy for us and we will definitely be working with them again.

Very well. Vance was very diligent and patient with the work he was tasked with. He delivered on all counts in spite of some tasks being problematic and he always had a kind demeanor about him and was soft spoken.
I have uploaded pictures of the incomplete work. There is not enough characters allowed in this review to copy the emails between Illean Durkin and us. If anyone would like this proof of her terrible business ethic please note so. We are happy to share all the information so that the entire truth of this companies ethics are available for all to review. Illean was emailed these pictures as well. So there is NOTHING in this review that she is not aware of. We have emailed Illean several times. First contractor gave us a quote and he ended up quitting before the job started. So Illean brought in another contractor, Kyle, who had to requote the job. The second quote left off a damaged door frame that needed to be repaired without telling us it would not be done. Kyle started the work on 6/18 The contract was suppose to be finish by 6/22 because I had a new tenant moving in 7/1. Kyle was unable to get the the long list of projects completed by himself so Illean approved for him to bring into our house UNLICENSED contractors and Illean verbally said she would cover them under Handyman Connection liability insurance if needed, but would not give that to us in writing. On June 26 2018 I walked the property with Illean to review the work that had been and not had been done. When Illean arrived she was ill prepared and did not have a copy of the contract. I met with Illene at the house because she was DEMANDING payment. However Kyle had not completed the work. I showed to Illean projects that were not finished. I explained to Illean that Kyle was running 4 days behind schedule This was because she did not provide Kyle with any assistance. Kyle was angry at Illean and the situation of not having any help from her and threatened to quit the job if he didn't get paid. Illene used that against us to get her check She made us fearful that if we didn't pay right then we would loose the contractor and then no work would get done. That would have been bad for our business loosing more days to be able to rent out the property. I DID NOT accept this work as satisfactory. I verbally told her a list of issues and problems that needed to be corrected which were not. I only paid Illean out of fear and trusted she would stay true to her word and the job would be completed in its entirety as she promised. However it was not. I had to contact Illean numerous times to make Kyle go back to the house in attempts to complete the projects. She would not return my calls When she finally did she said that her two sister in laws had died and "dealing with their deaths were more important than getting our window sills stained." That is no way to treat a customer, especially one who has paid in full, or run a business. She finally made Kyle go back to the house on 7/5 and he did not complete all the projects. Plus she refused to let Kyle install the storm doors and the railing around the porch. Reason for this is that the door frame needed repaired (which Kyle should have noticed when the quote was being done) and Kyle would not cut the railing for the steps- which he knew 1 week prior he would have to do- and never said it was going to be an issue. We had not paid Illean for these service yet, so luckily that was no loss of money to us. We have contacted Illean via email on 7/10/18 with our concerns and a long list of the projects we paid for that were either not completed or not completed in its entirety. Illean responded on 7/12/18 saying she disagreed and did not address any of the listed concerns. We reached out later on 7/12 to Illean asking if she even reviewed our lists of concerns and said we would wait 24 hours before escalating this complaint to give her a chance to rectify the situation She has not made any contact with myself or my wife via phone or email. Now we are left with a house that has numerous unfinished projects. I have copied a shortened form of the contract with the list of projects that we paid for and an explanation of what has not been done or was not done to completeness. We have asked Illean for a 25% refund of money we paid. It will cost us more than that to have another contractor come out and complete the projects that Illean did not have finished. But we felt this was a fair amount. SCOPE OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED Remove and replace storm door Basement Paint walls, ceiling,(1 color and 1 coat) and steps The basement steps were not painted to completeness. The side board of the steps is still yellow and the banister post is the old blue color. This was quoted as ONE job Kitchen Repair (baseball hole and nail holes), paint walls and ceiling (1 coat) The ceiling has a large discolored spot. It was not painted appropriately. There should be NO blemish on a freshly painted ceiling. Plus it looks like he painted the ceiling the same color as the kitchen walls- it was white and was to remain white. See attached photo Caulk between countertop and tile backsplash Living Room paint walls and ceiling (1 coat) Repair nail holes and 2 x 2 area on kitchen wall Clean baseboards There is still black filth in the corners of the baseboard. Kyle could not clean them because the paint was coming off when he attempted. We should not be charged for this. Remove and replace front storm door Kyle lost a white screw that held the living room light switch in place. There should be 6, and there are only 5 screws now. There were 6 when he started the job. Bathroom Paint walls and ceiling 1 coat Kyle painted the ceiling BLUE! The same color as the wall. The ceiling was white prior and was suppose to remain white. There is now blue paint on my white crown molding. He didnt even take the overhead light globe off to paint around it, so there is a white ring around the globe. Plus the paint is spotchy throughout the center of the ceiling. See attached photos. The entire ceiling needs to be repainted and the crown molding now needs to be painted as Kyle was sloppy and splattered blue paint on the white crown molding. Remove and replace caulk bead around tub Install quarter round in front of bathtub Check notes on window Kyle was suppose to fix the crack in the left upper corner of the shower that extended from the wall into the shower grout line. This was not repaired. See photo Kyle also hung back up the towel rack and did not space the brackets correctly, and they are too far apart, so the dows will not stay in place with a towel hanging on them. And the brackets are pulling away from the wall. So now the holes Kyle created will have to be re-patched, sanded, and painted. And then the towel rack will have to be reinstalled. Hallway Remove trim boards and panel (where house fan was removed), install needed blocking, install 1/2 drywall, tape and mud perimeter (three coats) and fasten holes, prime and paint new drywall, Kyle was suppose to put back the insulation he removed from the attic during the repair, and he did not. Joel found the bags of insulation in the back bedroom closet. paint entire ceiling including the living room There is a large spot in the living room ceiling. There had been a peice of tape on the ceiling. Kyle admitted to Joel he painted over the tape and then attempted to pull the tape off the ceiling AFTER he had painted. When he did this, it took several layers of old paint off, and left a pinkish spot. He tried to spot paint over it, and it looks TERRIBLE. The entire ceiling needs repainted. Door frames Repair rear bedroom door frame (painter said it would be just a skim coat), paint door frame, paint hall closet door (after cleaning water stains), paint bathroom door This was clearly NOT done at all- no attempt even made. See picture. Bedroom (rear) Clean baseboards with goo gone or similar product Clean up wall paint in closet This was NOT done. There are clearly scuff marks on the wall. See attached photo.

Response from Handyman Connection of Mason
The customer paid Handyman Connection after I personally and the contractor that performed the work walked the entire project multiple times to assure their satisfaction of the work. The customer was happy until Handyman Connection refused to complete other work (not included in the contract) at no additional charge. Handyman Connection did a few extras at not charge which included installing and painting five door guards that prevent knobs from damaging drywall. Handyman Connection opted to not complete a few final items (charges removed from the invoice) because the homeowner purchased the wrong materials several times (storm doors and the railing for the front porch). I believe that when the homeowner received an estimate to install the storm doors and railing and it exceeded what Handyman Connection had quoted, then they started complaining (after they repeatedly approved the work) about the interior work and wanted a refund.

I arrived at the job site to wait for the craftsman. After waiting 45 minutes I left to return home and complain to Ms Durkin about the craftsman not showing up. ( I was very angry about the waste of my time and gas to not have the job done.) Ms Durkin checked where the craftsman was and offered a discount on the repair which I think was very fair. The craftsman arrived and fixed the shutter. The work was done well and looks good.
Description of Work: Needed to have loose shutter repaired on second story window.
It went very well. It came in right on budget and in the time they promised.

Technician came promptly and saw what needed to be done. Went to Home Depot and purchased parts to complete the job (my husband gave him cash and he brought back change and receipt for materials). The faucet has been replaced and works fine except that the caulking that he used must not be the correct type for that job as it is flexible and has turned the faucet a little sideways. It really needs to be straightened up and re-caulked with a product that gets hard and holds it in place. I rated It went ok and the faucet is replaced and working but I don't feel that the technician used the correct caulking product for the project as the faucet turned and I think that it needs to be straightened up and re-caulked with the proper product that will harden and hold it in place. Perhaps, the caulking that was used was indoor caulking that you might use around a tub or shower - it is flexible. I did not want to call and complain as I don't want to have to pay again for someone to come out and work on it. I think it was kind of expensive but it was something that my husband could not do himself so we needed to have it fixed. The gentleman that came out was nice and seemed to know what he was doing as far as the replacement part of the job is done fine but I rated the professionalism as fair as I think that he should have known what kind of caulking to use. I am sorry that I really don't remember the date of service - it was during the summer, I believe. Also, seeing now that you are requesting picture. I just went out and took a pic but need to add it to my computer and then go back and send it. I don't want to loose all info that I have already added so will be sending pic in another email. too late to add to this as its not in my system yet. k

Upon the initial estimate with Rick White, we were given a contract the said "install new basement bathroom". When asked if the contract shoulder be more detailed, Rick declined and responded "whatever gives you the complete bathroom you want, we will do". We then planned for creating closets to hide the sump pump, water heater, and some plumbing on one wall with 4 closet doors included. We went on to say how we could install drywall on the inside to give it a nice finished look and etc. It was discussed in the initial bid that we weren't sure yet whether we wanted a shower stall or tub. Rick said this didn't matter. This contract was signed for the amount of $6100, I believe. labor only. Along the course of terrible punctuality, charging personal items to our gift cards that were given them (he and his helper, Rob) at the hardware store, and not even showing up on some days, we began to get frustrated. It was originally told to us that this would take about a week. It took over a month. There was some plumbing changes that had to be made - we had to move the tub because we initially planned on one side of the wall, not knowing how deep a shower/ tub would be. I admit, I have no experience in plumbing or how to plan a bathroom- I thought that's why I hired Handyman. Anyhow, Rick ( a so called experienced craftsman) also did not measure to see if a tub would fit where I had planned and jackhammered to where I had initially told him. Surprise, no tub/ sower would fit there. The "office" then told me I'd have to may an additional $500 to move the shower. I reluctantly did this. So that was our first issue. Then, I was charged for moving the sink. I specifically told him, I wanted a mirror. He had other plans and wanted to install the sink below a window. . First of all, why would you do that? and secondly, I was VERY specific that I did not want it under the window. I was charged to move it several feet down anyway. Again, I reluctantly paid this or he wouldn't have done it. Then , the office rewrote our contract and Rick asked me to sign it, claiming it was for the change in plumbing. I saw a list of items and skimmed over it and I signed it. Rick points out to me after this, "so we are clear" that this contract occludes all paint, doors, closets, baseboards, and if I wanted any tile in my shower, it wasn't included. So I was tricked into signing that this was ok. It was OF COURSE NOT OK. I'm assuming Rick told the office that he didn't initially say all of these things in the initial bid. Is this even legal ? Can you rewrite a contract with whatever you want it to include? I expect the work to be finished that we had agreed to pay for. Not the work I was tricked into signing. After we had gone back and forth, we ended up paying a total of $1500 additional labor for the shower to be tiled and sink to be moved. Now, as part of my complaint, we have not had all of our closet doors installed. Part of the ceiling above the shower isn't painted ( they claimed the drywall had to dry first and they'd do it later). We had a leaking shower (he forgot to caulk, came back to do it and it still leaked so we did it ourselves). We also have an actively leaking toilet. We called, he came to repair both things. When Rick came back to fix the shower caulk job (that we ultimately fixed again afterwards by us), he also fixed our leaking toilet, claiming it was "just a loose bolt". Again, it leaked the next day a small bit. I didn't think anything of it- thought maybe it would quit. It is now leaking more rapidly from the base of the left side of the toilet. After a week of calling to complain and the receptionist not calling after she said she would call back on this issue, I got an email from the manager. I was told that the warranty is now void because we've had a bidet installed on the opposite side of the toilet. As Rick claimed, it was a loose bolt . This has nothing to do with the bidet- as Rick should know. This company is dishonest and shows NO integrity. All I want is what I agreed to pay for initially. Manager Illean says that my now leaking toilet is " not a valid complaint". So in review, this company has 1. Lied about work they would do 2. Stolen money from my giftcards to Menards (they did pay back when caught) and 3. Changed our contract and tricked me to sign off on the work THEY wanted to do. This company is a JOKE. NEVER for any reason pay them to anything in your home!

Their initial response was amazingly fast - really felt the we were appreciated and that they wanted to help. Jim Finnigan took pictures and placed a narrative on his I-Pad to record what he saw so that Handyman Connection experts could accurately provide an estimate of what was needed. Illean Durkin took ownership in providing a proposal for the Guest bathroom and sent it to us in less than 2 business days. Their response to questions was very fast. Ultimately, we chose another vendor that met our timeline and budget for these two projects. I have no doubt that this company would have provided excellent workmanship had they been selected.

I was hoping he would be able to repair the roof which he was unable to do. I found a variety of odd jobs for him to do including installing a faucet and cutting some tree limbs. He also installed some wooden posts I had purchased and did it quickly and quite well. I didn’t like that a lot of the time was used for him to go get a missing part for the faucet installation.

His work was precise and in every job he carefully prepared the surfaces before painting, etc. He took pride in his work, was always cooperative and wanted to please us. When the new stair railings were longer than we wanted, he willingly took them down, shortened them and reinstalled them. He was definetly a skilled scraftsman! We would defintely hire him again. My only suggestion would be to imrpove communications. On the first day he was supposed to start at 10:00 am, but when I called the office at 11:00 to see if there was a problem, they weren't aware he hadn't yet come. An hour later the office called to say be had been completing another job & wanted to clean up at home before starting at our house at 1:00. He did arrive at 1:00.
Description of Work: He painted our family toom door, repaired a crack in our kitchen soffet & painted over it and two water spots on the ceiling, removed the old stair railing to the second floor and installed new railings on either side after staining and polyurethaning them, stripped powder room wall paper and painted the walls, installed four new smoke detectors and painted our large deck.
