Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Columbus

I found the leak the evening before I called Mr.Rooter. It was late in the evening, and I shut off the water main since the only impact was that we wouldn't have running water, and we would be going to be bed shortly. I called Mr. Rooter, and they sent somebody out the same day. The workers showed up on time. I showed them what was happening. They explained everythign to me in detail about what was wrong, what they needed to do, and that other cracks could form in the PEX lines from working on them. They weren't able to make the repair at that moment. They had to get some supplies so t6hey could fabricate a new manifold. They returned with everything, fabricated the manifold, replaced the old junction, tested it, and they were on their way. They were very unintrusive, and the work that they did had no issues.

I have used Mr Rooter before, serive man came out had to remove toliet to clean out drain, done a house check of other plumbing so I felt confident in calling them back for same issue a year later. very professional, friendly and courteous. I will say I had a rough start with my first intital call on 9/25/12 and felt left hanging and also had to leave my home for the night because of the back up problem. reviewing Angies List and thinking I would call some where else so i could get this resolved I re-read all Mr rooters reveiws and opted to call in and speak to Manager. Spoke with Mark about my issues (he was un aware) he stated he would call back after he spoke with techs. He return call within hour, reviewed issue and informed me that it could have been handled differently and that he would personally make sure I was a priority today 9/26/12. I returned home to have several Mr Rooter trucks at my home along with Mark and his best techs as he informed me. They reviewed problem and gave me details. SInce I have no clean out the best thing would be for me to do the Jett. He gave me a discounted rate, and also discount for my previous inconvienance of relocating to a hotel the night before. All techs were respectful, informative and got right on the job. i can say they took my bad experience and made it much better for me and my family in the end. Only wish they had financing for the BIG job.

They tried on 2 separate occasions to root it out in crummy weather before they decided it need replaced. They brought in an extra crew and did the job in one day. They did a great job using their equipment, they added a clean out and when I asked them where it was. He came out at a later date dug it out and showed it to me for free.

The service was great. He came, looked at it, and judged the situation and what the best option was. He was able to repair it and he did a great job. I appreciate how he did a very neat job and cleaned up very well after himself. They are always on time and arrive right when they say they will. They gave me a $25 gift certificate when they did work for me back in 2009. I was impressed and appreciated that they were still willing to honor it.

Went great. Andy was courteous and thorough. Ended up just needed to be tightened.

They did a very good job and also gave us some leeway on the pricing.

I called to check on the time of arrival and I was told expect a person at 3 pm. I waited until after 4:30 pm before a person showed up. I was told the estimate of work needed was free. I had an outside faucet that was leaking. The service man was polite and professional, very nice. He looked at the faucet and unscrewed a top cover to the anti-siphon inner part. He said the anti-siphon part had worn gaskets. He said the part was only about $5 to replace. He did not have the part in his truck. He told me he would charge me a diagnostic fee of $132 and give me a $30 discount from the internet coupon. That would be about $100 for a $5 part that took all of 30 seconds to unscrew a cap. He wrote up the order and gave me an additional discount to charge me $78. I asked him that I could not pay $78 for a $5 part. Plus, I said I thought the estimate was free. He said he understood. I told him I could not tell my wife that I paid $78 for a $5 part. He said he would not charge me and consider this a free estimate. What bothers me is had I not said anything, I may have been charged $78. Wow - that was a close one!

The price seemed much higher than it should've been for this job.

It was the first time I had used them. It went pretty well. He did have to leave to get a part but that didn't take long.

a professional job. The plumber listened to what we wanted, verified he understood the problem and then fixed it. No fuss at all. And the work looks great. We've used this company several times before and have always been satisfied with the work.

.Two of my toilets were clogged. Adam came out and unclogged them both. He suggested replacing the flow valves. He gave me a price, I told him I did not have the money for that right now but he said he would make note of it and to just call when I did. Very thorough, cleaned up after himself, and used a mat outside and the blue booties on his shoes. I will definitely contact them again.

Quality of work seemed to be okay, but I believe they advised me to make repairs that were not really needed.

I bought the filter system on-line but it needed a plumber to install it, so I called Mr. Rooter. Mark came out first, and determined that my old kitchen faucet set-up (with a spray attachment off to the side) wouldn't allow for the installation of the new filter system and faucet alongside it. So I went to Lowe's to buy a new faucet, and later that day a different plumber (Jason) came to install both of the new faucet systems. Both Mark and Jason were very courteous and professional -- as was the person who scheduled them at their office -- and I was impressed with the focus on service and quality that this company seems to embody. Jason's installation of the new kitchen faucet and the under-sink filtration system and faucet went smoothly and I was very pleased with the result. Both worked great. He also gave advice on the installation of a shower filter that I did myself while he was here; he taped the threads for the new filter, for instance, and helped me tighten it more securely once I had it on. I originally thought that $350 seemed a little high for the installation of the two faucets. But it's worth the price, as I learned this morning when, within two hours of my phone call to say that the new filtration faucet was leaking, Mark came to my house and fixed it at no charge. I figured I'd have to complain and spend days waiting for someone to come out, but here he was on the spot and without any hassle, even giving me a $50 coupon toward future work in addition. This company backs up its work! I've had experience with irresponsible plumbing companies in the past (none through Angie's List), and it's worth paying a little more to get the level of quality that Mr. Rooter has provided. I am really impressed and recommend them highly.

Estimate over $700 for those 2 items. Are you kidding me? Rip off! Will not be contacting again and will not recommend to any one. Wasted my time even with whopping $30 off coupon. 5/21/2012: I decided to cancel the service and they charged me a $102 diagnostic fee. I called and spoke with the assistant manager. He was floored at the estimate I was given, and agreed to refund me the diagnostic fee. I decided not to go with the company, but they were very apologetic, and were willing to give me a more reasonable quote for the service.

They are very good. I found them through Angie’s List. They are prompt and knowledgeable. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future.

Installed a new PVC pipe to replace damaged sump pump's pipe outside the house. The old pipe was cutoff from the main drain pipe into 2 halves. So when the pump was pumping out the water, damage in the pipe outside was flushing the water back into the ground instead of into the drain pipe. Also asked them to line up 2 bent down spouts vertically into the drain as they were found too much away from the wall and looked like it could come off anytime. They quickly responded to my call and had someone come in and fix it just in few hrs on the same day. I feel they are over priced for the kind of work performed. I paid close to $400.

We have three drains. They came out and told us they would typically charge $581. We are going to look up your drains with a camera. They said they took pictures but we never saw the pictures just drawings. The day they came out they were in the process of taking the pictures and then a storm came and they were in there trucks waiting for it to pass, but I personally never saw them work on the drain. But when the pool guy came out the next he told us the drains are stilled clogged. Then they came out again and said that the drain was broken.They wanted to charge us more money that we thought was to high. So know we are looking around. Alex one of the employees was extremely rood. Alex was extremely hard and difficult to work with. Mark and the office staff was very polite.

After we could not figure out how to fix it ourselves, called Mr. Rooter. They came out responsively within a couple of days, and fixed everything. did not have the part in the truck but their is a Lowes/Home Depot close so simply went and got the part. Little chit chat, all business. We were pleased with the end result.

Left a message on the area code 740 number- but they never returned my call.

I contracted this company to fix the shut off value on my furnace. I was impressed at how quickly they sent someone out. Unfortunately, when Columbia Gas came back to turn the gas back on to our home they found a leak where the work was done and the way the pipe was done was not up to code. I called Mr. Plumber around 7pm to let them know we couldn't turn our furnace on because of the leak . They said they were having a busier than usual night so couldn't send anyone out until the next day. This was a little disappointing since we weren't able to have heat that night and the temp got done in the 30s. But they did arrange for someone to come out early the next day. Ultimately we found that our Home Warranty covered the repair and they were able to send someone out sooner than Mr. Plumber so they fixed Mr. Plumber's work. It was a little scary that both Columbia Gas and our warranty company were immediately able to identify the leak in the gas line. I realize people make mistakes but leaving a leak in a gas line is a little riskier of a mistake. I was impressed with the way Mr. Plumber handled the situation, however. They refunded all of our money and were very easy to deal with.

This morning I called Mr. Rooter at 10:00 AM. They had a technician (Jason May) come to my house by about 11:00, and he had cleared the drain and left by 12:00. He and another technician also used a camera in the drain to ensure that it was clear. They did not charge for the camera inspection and provided a 90 day warranty on the work. Mr. May was very polite and professional. I was highly impressed with the company from my first call to the receptionist to the time that Jason May did the work and left.

Alex Harrison was very punctual. He had a great attitude and was very helpful. He was straight to the point and described exactly what the problem was and what the solution was. He had great customer service skills and was attentive to our needs. We would definitely recommend Alex from Mr. Rooter.

Techinician Alex Hunsin(cannot read his writing) arrived at our house, my husband took him to our daughters bathroom where the leak was coming from, the tecnician had to go to my older daughters bedroom to removed the 2 wall panels to have access to the pipes.His analysis was that the tub was leaking through its tiles and he caulked some silicone around the tub charged my husband the sum of $156.50 for this service, which was a ridiculous service charge and then failed to re attach the panels. My husband did not realized Alex had not put the panels back on the wall, my daughter called me at work upset and informed me.I called the 1 800 843-9690 or 614 241-4411 and voiced my complaint to the operator she offered to send him back out but I work for a living and do not have time to sit around and wait for some incompetent worker to return back to our house to do the job the right way, so we put the panels back up our selves., I am just so upset, maybe we should get a partial refund for having to do that part of his job If Alex really has no understanding of what customer service looks like and does not respect the customers propertywhile working in their home, then he probably does not realize his behavior is impacting future earnings/sales for this company and that he is single handedly having a negative impact on the brand called Mr Rooter Plumbing, so either HR needs to terminate him or somebody needs to retrain him. A written apology and a commitment by Mr Rooter representative to counsel and retrain Alex would be a minimum starting point for me to ever consider using them again. UPDATE: On March 26, 2012, Mark Elswick the Plumbing Manager from Mr Rooter called and spoke with both my husband and myself he apologized several times for their plumbing tech leaving the job unfinished. He informed us that the owner of the company would be issuing a refund check because they do not expect their plumbing techs to ever leave a job with the work being incomplete and they wanted to retain all their repeat customers. . Honestly I had wrote situation off as a lesson learned for us. An apology and acknowledgement of our situation and my dissatisfaction as a customer was the minimum I expected but this was above and beyond. The $156.50 question on the table is will I ever use there services again..........well honestly I am not quite sure yet, however I truly appreciate the authentic and sincere effort that Mark made to "make it right" for us the customer.

I thought very well. The tech was in and out with no mess. I am amending this report due to the fact that the problem has cleared itself and we went out and pruchased toilets to replace the ones we had. We will be returning them and I am a little upset that it cost $200 dollars for what appears to have not really a problem.

The next morning it was still leaking and I had a new leak, they immediately sent someone out to review. Of course the shower did not leak when he tested it! He looked and tightened up the new pipe to fix the new leak and checked a few other things. After testing, the shower did not leak. The next day after taking a shower, the old leak started again. Again, they sent someone out to look. Again, the shower never leaked when they tested. Long story short, the leak was repaired on the 4th visit and I am grateful for the manager in taking care of my concern and working with me to send someone out each time I called. I am grateful to the technician for being so kind and patient to resolve my issue. Final day of resolution was 12/26/11.
