Mr. Electric of Columbus

I can not sing the praises of Mr. Electric enough. Despite me removing a hardwired smoke detector from my ceiling, a chirping sound continued to come from the ceiling. It sounded like it was coming from the wires, although I know that isn't possible. The chirping ONLY occurred in the middle of the night, usually between 1am-4am. It was terrifying my newly adopted dog and preventing me from getting sleep for 4 nights in a row. After consulting with the fire department they suggested I contact an electrician and replace all of the 16 year old detectors. I called Mr. Electric around 8:15am on 2/15/16 and they agreed to send someone out between 3-5pm. To my pleasant surprise, they called me at 9am and said they could send someone right away. Rich Almond was the technician who arrived and he was wonderful. Not only did he have a great sense of humor, he listened to my odd chirping symptoms and we tried to troubleshoot before installing the new detectors. He did finally replace and test all of the smoke detectors for a reasonable price and gave me their "yellow pages" discount. They offer an Angie's List discount, but it required a printer to print the coupon and my printer is broken. When troubleshooting, Rich went into my attic area (which is where the furnace is located) to see if I might have a CO detector there (I didn't). While he was up there, he offered to replace my furnace filter to prevent me from climbing up there. I took him up on that offer and I'm overwhelmed that he even thought to offer to do that. Of course, I won't know if the odd chirping has stopped until late tonight, but at least I know I now have current smoke detectors and will have to troubleshoot with the builder if the chirping continues. I plan on contacting Mr. Electric in the future for any electrical type needs. I normally can plan further in advance, but they responded immediately when I needed them. Dion was very friendly and professional. He patiently answered all my questions and gave me estimates on a couple of other jobs I have been considering in the future. I also received an Angie's List discount that I appreciated. I would definitely use them again.

Schedule in two days. Called ahead of arrival. Arrived within 2-hour window projected. The repairman unstuck a glass globe that was stuck to the metal frame of the fixture. Re=installed the fixture on the ceiling, all in fifteen minutes. He also inspected a faulty light fixture in the stove hood. We will have to locate a matching one to replace it. Cost of $88 was after he gave us a $50 credit for being first time customers and locating him through Angie's list. The repairman also gave us detailed cost estimates for future work we may want done.

I bought a garage door opener and they installed an outlet and charged me 400.00 and the remote did not work. I called them to have someone come out and when he came out he almost burned down my house we had to turn off the switches. The workers are nice people but the boss needs to be out of business. I now have to have a new garage door opener and I'm out another 500.00. I am madder than a hornet and she should not have a business. I cannot even stand to see her on commercials now and she should not be on Angie's List. I recommend that everyone stays as far as they can.

They were late for the estimate time window they gave me, and the electrician didn't seem to thrilled to be taking the assignment as a favor for another worker. They did call to say they were behind and asked if I'd like to schedule at a more convenient time. I had already taken time off work so I asked to come as I scheduled. they did arrive albeit late . I thought the estimate seemed very high ($274) to replace a bathroom fan, $138 for the first hour to diagnose nonworking outlets, and $83/hr thereafter. I scheduled the service for that Sunday at 1 pm. Around 115 pm that Sunday, they called to say the electrician wasn't available and asked if I wanted to reschedule. I didn't at that time. The customer service ladies who took my call and who called to follow up were very nice and professional.

We contacted Mr. Electric because we had sparks coming out of a light switch. They were unable to come out the same day which was fine since it was the weekend. The tech arrived and gave us a quote of $208 to replace the switch which seemed extremely high, but the switch was a fire hazard and we had waited long enough so we opted to just have him do the work. We also asked him about replacing 2 outlets and he quoted us $175 for the first outlet and $50 for the second which we declined. We had Mr. Electric out a little over a year ago to install a ceiling fan and we had the guy replace one outlet for $30. We contacted Mr. Electric 3 times to speak to the manager about the pricing to make sure we were accurately charged and to find out what the discrepancy is between last years pricing on replacing an outlet and today's price. Unfortunately we have not received a call back from the manager to discuss further. We will never use or recommend them for electrical work again.

Professional, friendly, and committed to doing the job right. He even came back out to do warranty work that turned out to be user error. Even though it was our mistake, he didn't charge for another service call.

We have used Mr. Electric in the past for various jobs and have always liked their work. We have also used them in the home-buying experience when we have needed an electrical home inspection and estimate on repairs.....As a home-buyer we have needed inspections by various professions after potential issues have been found on initial inspections, Electrical being one of them. Mr. Electric has helped us in the past by coming out, inspecting and giving us a written estimate on repairs needed. They now, however, no longer are willing to help in this aspect, per my phone conversation with them. I was informed that the home owner would need to contact them directly, in spite of the fact that it is our responsibility to set up our own inspectors...They just do not seem to comprehend how the process works. Sadly, we needed an experienced electrician to do an electrical inspection on a house we were in the process of buying and now have gotten another electrician to help us. We will no longer be using Mr. Electric in the future.

About 4 weeks ago the house got hit by lighting. Had a gas leak. Columbia Gas shut off the gas and I called Mr Electric to fix the leak. I waited and I waited and I waited. Three hours after the scheduled time I get a call from them. They needed to reschedule. Wait I have an emergency here and they reschedule me! They show up the next day 30 mins late on the time the said they would be there. Well they fixed the problem. Now fast forward today. Foolish me called them a week ago to have 3 ceiling fans, and new outlets added to the new house we had just moved into this week. I get a call this morning that Mr. Electric will NOT make it to me today! They had an emergency and wanted to reschedule! Wait a second here when I had the problem my job got blown off, now when I have a schedule time I get blown off for an emergency! Terrible company! This review is for the Columbus, Oh Mr Electric service area.

In the process of accepting bids to finish basement. I asked Mr. Electric provide a bid for outlets, canned lights and a few other items we needed to finish the basement to code. The bid was $8,800. I had 4 other bids, requesting the same work, all came in around $3,500-$3,800. Tim was on time and walked me through what the plan would be. Needless to say, I experienced a fair amount of sticker shock compared to the 4 other bids.

I bought a "Big Deal" in March from Mr. Electric to install a ceiling fan in my kitchen. I was still shopping for a fan at that point, trying to find something that fit the space and would complement our kitchen design. I finally found the right fan. Unfortunately, it was back ordered. Then back ordered again. And again. By the time the fan was finally delivered and I called Mr. Electric to install it, I found they had closed their Cincinnati business office! Nevertheless, the staff at Mr. Electric (now located only in Columbus), was extremely accommodating. They located one of their electricians who was traveling to Cincinnati and arranged to have him install the fan. He was on time, friendly and did a thorough and professional installation. I was very impressed with the team at Mr. Electric, and would use them again without question -- if they still had an office in Cincinnati!

He did a great job. I love his work and will use his work again.

Arrived promptly. Determined what was needed for the installation. Installed the ceiling fan with no dust or insulation on the floor of the living room. Tested fan at all settings. Removed all tools and trash. Friendly and communicated all necessary information. Indicated warranty provided by service and offered to come back when evey any problems were encountered.

Purchased a "deal" from Angie's List for Mr. Electric to install a ceiling fan. The work was done promptly with no surprises. The electrician that came to our house was a great ambassador for the company. Very neat, completed the work quickly and cleaned up any materials he used during installation. I would definitely use Mr. Electric again!

The service went very well. Jason was very professional, arrived on time, and found the source of the problem rather quickly. The electric was out in parts of the house, and he found an outside receptacle at the corner of the house to be bad. I didn't even know that was there, because it's behind a bush. I would definitely recommend this company.

It went great. Very professional and courteous. A very nice person. This is the third time I have used him. He is definitely my furnace guy.

Bill Mazei from Mr. Electric showed up early (which never happens with contractors) and gave me an estimate fro replacing one outlet and installing three ceiling light fixtures. He was very professional and friendly, and quite knowledgeable. I thought the estimate was VERY high even with a $50.00 coupon from Angie's List. All of the work took less than an hour and it cost $438.00! I agreed to the high price, however, because he was already there and prepared to do the work, and because I had been putting it off for a while and wanted the work to be done. Maybe that's the M.O. for this company. I will say that Bill was so friendly and I enjoyed talking to him while he was working so it made the high price of the work a little easier to swallow. I'd like to call Mr. Electric again but I think I could find another electrician that would be less expensive.

Everything was perfect. I love Mr. Electric. Their people are always professional and knowledgeable. I've used them for several jobs and am never disappointed.

It was a great experience! I called them and they scheduled me for the next day. Scott arrived on time and actually head of time. He inspected the detector and realized the beep was coming from an adjacent CO2 detector. He fixed the problem. He also repaired a ceiling fan that was not working properly. I would highly recommend this company!

They called me a couple of timestrying to make the appointment after I purchased the deal. I never had them come out because I got sick though.

It went well, hes been the same electrician I've had out before. He explained to me how and what needed to be done.

There was initial confusion with my order and it took a followup call to get them out to my folks place. After the call they responded quickly. My Mom mentioned that they were very courteous and my folks were pleased. Supposedly my Dad wanted the fan wired differently than to code (his is a contrary but ingenious Electrical Engineer) and the installer handled my 91 year Dad very well but firmly and keep it all to code!! So they have a replaced ceiling fan in their bedroom and my folks were satisfied.
