Description of Work: I called to have an attic fan installed. I attempted to get a basic quote over the phone and the operator said that they just answer phones at a call center and do not give quotes over the phone. I set up an appointment for an estimate, and was told that they could preform the installation at the time of the estimate. A very friendly electrician showed up right on time at 8am. When I told him what I was after he pulled out a book for their price list. He said this is the "technician" book and it listed a flat rate fee for about any job imaginable. For an attic fan, it was to cost $611! He said they do not mark up parts and if i provided the fan they would look at the recepit and reduce the cost by the amount paid for the fan. He said the fan should cost about $80-90, leaving the labor to cost $520. I asked him to take a rough guess on how long it would take him and he said betwen 2-4 hours. NO BODY is worth $125-250/hr for a trade labor. This quote is laughable! I politely said I wasn't interested at that cost and we wrapped things up. Very professional and courteous, not the technicians fault that the prices are out of control. As a side note - I think it is ridiculous that they have a book full of set prices for all of their servicies and that people answering the phones couldn't give me an idea of the cost. Because of my appointment time and the attic enterence location, I had to wake up my 2 year old and clear out his closet in anticipation of a reasonable quote. If I would have known that they were this expensive, I would have saved the electrician a trip out to my house and my 2 year old would have gotten more sleep,Lastly, I called another local electrician and he said if I bought the fan I wanted, he would install it for $125 - total cost with fan would be around $200.. Now that is a reasonable quote. I'm sure Mr. Electric does great work (or at least they better at this premium price) but I would encourage people to shop around before calling these guys first. I called Mr. Electric because of all the great reviews - and frankly I am surprised at the 'A' ratings for price. I think that they want to come to your house with a polite salesman/electrician and talk you into overpriced services. I feel that this is a way to take advantage of people who are in a hurry or do not know what things are worth.

Description of Work: Dominique was professional and friendly. We had called to have 3 previously purchased lights installed, replacing older ones. One was a semi-flush light for our hallway. A second was a chandelier for the dining room, and the third was a chandelier for the kitchen eating area. He discussed the lighting with us to be sure what we wanted where and how low we wanted the lights to hang (with the exception of the semi-flush lamp in which we had no choice. He then proceeded promptly to change out the lighting in the hall, moved to the dining room and finished in the kitchen. Everything went smoothly and quickly and he was done much sooner than we had estimated. I mentioned that we might remodel the kitchen and asked his suggestions for the soffited area in the kitchen. We also asked if we get a contractor to do the work if we could subcontract him to do the lighting. He answered we could. We paid the bill and that was it--fast and efficient. Description of Work: I had a circut break blow up and so i couldn't run my dryer. Ina house with two under five this is a MAJOR issue. I called them and they had Brian out to me in less than an hour. he was cheerful and nice, and he was in and out in less than a half hour.

Description of Work: We actually had two visits. The first was a dagnostic to figure out problems we'd been having. That was $189 and tested all the outlets. We decided to put in a special outlet for the computer. Brian offered us several options, and then came back to perform the service for $323.54, the estimate, which was the cheapest we got. He was prompt and fast, and tweaked a few things along the way, plus educating us and giving great advice. I would recommend them to anyone. If you are worried about being ignorant about your house power, ask for Brian specifically.
