The outlet in the utility room went well, everything else was a disaster. The bulk of the labor cost went to not installing the fan. They said it was a DC motor and would not work, I needed a remote. My brother visited and installed it for me. All that was needed was to replace the existing wall control with the new one. They told me to add the garage outlet would be time consuming and expensive. They would have to go in the attic, over to the garage door opener and through the insulation on the outside wall. My brother suggested they go on the outside of the wall and cover it with conduit. Why couldn't experienced electricians think of that. I called them to express my disappoint before writing this review and the manager just said he was sorry I was not happy.

Came out day after Christmas and performed outside post work efficiently in absolutely freezing 50 year cold spell. Inside work went very well. Will use again if needed.

Troy my man today was GREAT!!! I had a mix-up in the initial appointment ie when I called for service I knew I had no electricity to some plugs. Service mgr who made the apt for me was sending out only an estimator for my job. I told her I need a real electrician to actually fix the problem and fix it for me. She immediately sent out the right guy for the job and that person was TROY. He tested every plug, tested every wire and connection in the breaker box and found I had a burned out wire to one particular circuit. Troy replaced the wire, connected it to a new circuit and VOILA electricity works perfectly again! Will I continue to use Jess Howard Electric? You bet I will! And I will have TROY back to my house any time something goes awry. A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO TROY!!!! What a guy! FABULOUS to work with him!

Great. Called Jess Howard today around 2pm and a serviceman showed up around 3:00pm. Everything is on and working. Their guys are always so nice and willing to answer questions.
Description of Work: Garage did not have power. Also needed attic fan temperature adjusted. New motor had been put in on Monday.

I called to set up work to be done in my home and had to book out 3 weeks because I needed an 8:00am appointment as I live in Pickerington and work in Dublin. I thought the appointment was for Thursday 2/11/16. At 8:20 no one had shown up so I called and was told my appointment wasn't until Tuesday 2/16/16. I confirmed that the appointment was at 8:00am. On the 16th at 8:20, no one had shown up so I called again. I was informed that my appointment wasnt until 9:00am. I told the service manager that my appointment was at 8:00am, and I had booked 3 weeks ahead of time so they could ensure that someone was there at 8:00am. He apologized and asked if he could reschedule. I told him no, I was taking my business elsewhere. He didn't seem concerned to lose the business, and didn't apologize for missing the appointment. I will not use/call/recommend this company to anyone, I had 2 set appointments and both were missed.

When I called to complain, the service department claimed that the technician told me that all three outlets needed to be replaced. I don't recall having that conversation with him, and also, this raises the question of why he didn't just replace them while he was here. When I said that he needed to come back and do the job correctly, the service representative was still going to charge me yet another $65 for a service call on top of whatever other labor was required. I am not happy. Essentially I paid $65 and have the exact same problem I started with.
Description of Work: Three outlets were not working in the basement. The technician got all three to work before he left, but all three failed about an hour later.

There was no work performed for this service call. I have used this company in the past and had always received great service. I had an appointment scheduled for 8/25 with the serviceman to arrive between 9:00 ad 9:30am. I called at 9:28am on 8/25 as I had not heard from anyone. I was then told that my appointment was for 8/26. I know this is not the case, as my last day of a 2 week vacation before returning to work is 8/25. When making the appointment in addition to stating the date, I also confirmed that it was Tuesday morning, in the event that the date was mis-written by the owner/appointment scheduler. I would not have scheduled an appointment for the same day I am scheduled to return to work. The owner took no responsibility for incorrectly recording the date of the appointment, not even offering an apology. He only stated that "his notes" recorded the appointment for 8/26. In addition to no apology, he did not offer to try to get someone to my home later in the day. Nothing. Very poor customer service. There are other very highly rated electricians on Angie's List. I will be moving my business to one of those companies.

Well I don't normally complain, but I will if I feel ripped off, and I do believe that I was just ripped off. We had a pool pump that was not working. The tech came out on April 13th to try to diagnose the motor issue. He did some testing and determined it was a bad capacitor. He told me to hold tight and that they were going to order the part and I would hear something within the next week or two. I didn't hear anything for awhile, so I called back on April 22nd to find out the status. By now, my pool was starting to turn green. The guy I spoke to acted like he had no clue, but that is understandable as I am sure they are juggling several projects. He setup an appt for that Friday April 24th sometime between 3 and 5pm. I took off work that day for this appt. I get a call at 5:30pm from the tech saying he is not going to be able to make the appt. I was disappointed but was sympathetic as I know how things go sometimes. We were a little more upset when they had to bump our appointment one other time. We were starting to get upset and felt slighted. It felt like they bumped us down on the schedule below some bigger money jobs. Again, frustrating, but I get it. Rescheduled for May 4th, and I had to cancel this appt because we were at the hospital having our twins. Rescheduled for May 8th between 3 and 5pm. I get a call from the tech at 5:17pm saying he is at the house. I am at the hospital and race back home. At 5:39pm I get a call from the tech saying that the new part is not working and advised me to take the motor in to get tested. Now wait a minute. Isn?t this what I am paying you guys for? To diagnose and repair the motor issue? When you first arrived, you should have just told me to take the motor to someone who can actually test it and fix it, instead of charging me while you misdiagnosed it. So I get home at 5:45pm and the tech is long gone. So I lost over 4 weeks waiting for these guys, have a green pool that is now a swamp, and am no closer to having this fixed than when I started. Then, as an added bonus, I get a bill for $172.08! I called up to dispute the bill and I speak to a "Steve" who was less than sympathetic. "I just bill off of the time sheet the tech turns in" he tells me. So I don't think this tech was at my house longer than 22mins and I was billed for a full 45 minutes. He did discount $16 off the bill, so now I owe $155.83 for their incompetence. Listen, I know they have to be paid for making the trip here and completing diagnostics. I agree they should be paid something, but sorry, not $170 or even $150. A typical diagnostics visit from most technicians would run about half that. During the diagnostics visit, the tech should correctly diagnose the problem, if they can fix it, and the approx cost to fix it. I got none of that with Jess Howard. Just blind faith that they were going to fix it and it was going to be reasonable. Had I known it was going to be anywhere near this price, I would have just bought a new motor and put it in myself! I will never use this company again. I feel very ripped off and thus compelled to tell my story.

For electrical the company I found was Jess Howard. They were efficient. My neighbor told me that it was an electrical problem and so I called them over here and they said it wasn't an electrical problem it was a furnace problem. The technician that came to my home was professional and courteous. I thought that it was a well established company that you could trust. I always check Angie's List to see what they are rated. If I go to Angie's List to specifically look for a company then I know of a company and I go to Angie's List to see what they are rated. I plan to use them again in the future.
Description of Work: They came out about 6 months ago. The cost was less than 100. They were just checking as my furnace was blown.

Work to fix and or replace and install new fixtures, switches and recepticles was done appropropriately. Electician was on time and got right to work. Made sure I was satisfied & happy with the installation & direction of the newly installed/replaced lights before he said "done".

They are horrible people to work with. They are rude, their pricing is extremely high...they charged me an hour for transportation even though they are only about 12 minutes away. They charged me for every nut, screw and bolt that was used. They overcharged me for the labor hours. Their work was terrible. My electricity over my island was off for a week then tried to charge me for turning it back on. I would never recommend them.

He replaced the main breaker switch on the breaker box.
Description of Work: This was the day before Thanksgiving and we lost power and heat to part of the house. Thinking it was a problem with the furnace, we called our hvac company. They came out, flipped a coulpe of switches and everything came back on. He, also, had us call AEP to make sure there was no problem with our meter. They came in the early evening, checked the outside meter and it was fine. Around 10pm, we lost heat and partial power, again. This time it would go off for a little while and come back on. We claaed an electtrician that stated they provided 24 hour emergency service and left two messages. They never called back.We called Jess Howard, were immediately connected to the 24 hour emergency service. He told us how much the emergency rates were, tlaked my husband through some prelimenary diagnostics, to help make sure he had the proper equipment and save us some money. When he got here, he was able to fix the problem in 15 minutes, and billed us instead of expecting us to come up with 200.00 dollars at 1am Thanksgiving morning.

I am always somewhat reluctant to call Jess Howard thinking that they only do those huge construction electrical jobs you see around town, but I know they are good so I called to schedule them to come out to take care of a lot of small things. Charlie was the electrician. He arrived on time and did a great job. He answered all my questions and was very professional moving from one thing to another completing each one. We especially appreciated the work he put in on a old porch light that is inset into the ceiling of our porch alcove. We have an older house and I knew I could not get a replacement fixture. I feared we would have to replace everything but Charlie took it apart, put in new wiring and now we can keep the original fixture. I had a neighbor's son do some work about a year ago and one wall switch that controlled two different lights never worked right; Charlie had that working like it should! I won't hesitate to call Jess Howard in the future -- we got excellent service from an electrician who knew what he was doing!
Description of Work: We had a variety of things that needed to be done: check line to dishwasher, replace two wall outlets, repair a porch light, check a ceiling fan connection, fix a wall switch that wasn't wired correctly, look at an outdoor box to make sure it wasn't working and recommend next steps as the line goes to the box under a paver patio.

The electrician arrived on time. He did a good job We are very happy with the outcome. The most important item was that he recommended that we do not install the 6 inch recessed light we had selected over the kitchen sink in the soffit. Based on his experience he said that the light will probably not fit. He did not want to cut into the ceiling and run into a problem which would leave us with a hole in the ceiling. He suggested that we instead look for a 4 inch light that would fit easily into the existing space and still give us the light we need. I definitely would use them again.

The thermostat was not working. The electrician from Jess Howard Electric quickly found the problem. I was unaware that a furnace switch existed in the basement and it had been turned off. He was helpful and answered my questions concerning replacing basement light fixtures and using a kiln.

I had partial power in the house, even though the breakers were "on." Previously Joe Gioffre Electric was unable to resolve the problem during their service call. AEP confirmed the trouble was inside the house. I called Jess Howard Electric at 3:15 PM; their electrician arrived the same day. As a customer I noticed he was respectful of me and my property. The electrician found the problem to be a loose connection in the junction box closest to the electric panel.

Fan works great and they installed 3 new kitchen outlets for kitchen remodel. Also wired for an over the range microwave. We have not yet had the microwave installed but I am certain it will work fine. We have used this company at a previous home and will use again in the future.
