Universal Windows Direct of Cleveland

I love Universal Windows! This is the 2nd time we have used them. All of the employees that I have dealt with are FANTASTIC from sales to installation. They do everything that they promise. A lot of companies say "Life time Warranty" and then there is always a catch. That is not the case with Universal Windows. One of our windows cracked. I don't know how, probably one of the kids. I called them, told them, and they ordered a new one and replaced it immediately. The quality in all of their products are top of the line. I will use them again in a heartbeat!

Salesman was very informative, wasn't pushy and answered all my questions. Installer was excellent. On time, worked quickly and work was done in a professional manner.

We were notified when the installation would take place, they also called the day before to confirm. We were told they would be here about 9:00 a.m. and they arrived at 8:15 a.m. and got right to work. The workers were very polite and very pleasant.. They finished the whole installation in about 3 hours. The supervisor asked us to take a look at the windows with him , he demonstrated how they open and lock and the fine points of the windows. They cleaned up after they were finished. The supervisor came in and asked if we had any questions and told us if we had any problems to call the office so they can take of them.

John and Conner were extremely professional and efficient. They displayed excellent teamwork and took care keeping the newly remodeled rooms clean as they installed the windows.

The installer, Joe Tiffe, was professional and proficient in the window installation. Joe was knowledgeable and well trained in the installation process. He was hard working and completed the job by himself. I had heard that the installation of the window was just as important as the quality of the window itself. I am very happy with my choice of windows and thankful for a wonderful installer.

After getting estimates from several window companies and looking at the big box stores I chose Universal Windows. The salesman answered my questions and then they came and measured each window. This was one of the reasons I went with Universal. My windows were not a standard size and by custom measuring they didn't have to "make them fit" as some companies would. They contacted me when the windows came in to set up a time. They arrived on time and finished everything in one day. The installers cleaned up each area inside and hauled away the old windows and swept up outside as well. Everyone notices the new windows right away.

I had windows installed in June of 2014. All the sales guys that I worked with were incredibly pushy. To be honest, the process was rather painful. Once we got passed the details and negotiation the process was better. They kept in contact regarding the manufacturing timeline and scheduled the installation right away. The installers did a good job keeping the house clean which was great. They tore out the old windows and installed the new ones on day one. They finished up the capping on day two. The windows are really nice. They operate well, they look good and they seem pretty durable. However, I've begun to notice that during windy days, while the windows are CLOSED, my curtains blow back and forth - as if they sprayed no insulation around the windows before capping them off. Since they came back on day two for this process and I wasn't around, did they insulate the windows? Are they installed right? Is the product faulty? I don't know but I'm rather disappointed - especially since one of their biggest sellers is how energy efficient new windows are and how much you'll save on your energy bills. I don't believe I should SEE a draft from my new windows.

Because I think they mislead us on a couple of things, we work with a guy and pick out a screen door for the front and they said that they would do that install the door and we look at it and said that's not the door we picked out and they said oh well cause we can't make the door that needs that specification and I said why didn't you tell us ahead of time, the bay windows they replace bay windows and they took all these measurements and then the bay windows were put in didn't meet the specification of the original bay windows in terms of size they knew that ahead of time they should have told us.

It worked out great. They were here March/April of last year, 2015.

It was fine they did a good job all though they did necked my window sills and they didn't offer to fix it but the windows done fine. well because they necked my window sill when they installed it.

It went very well. They were very competitive after negotiation. Overall they were very good, it's just that the installer presented himself so sketchy. If I'd not been able to negotiate with them, it would have cost me probably a thousand dollars more.

The service went well. The price was reasonable. It was good. They were on time and they finished on time.

Estimate process was quick and easy. The manager, Joe P., is a pleasure to do business with. Window installers arrived on time. They did a great job. They kept my house clean and vacuumed under every window before they left. The quality of the windows is excellent. They easily tilt in to clean so there is no more standing on ladders to clean windows for me! I also love the energy efficiency of the windows. This is a very professional company that stands behind their windows with a lifetime warranty. I highly recommend Universal Windows.

Universal Windows did an excellent job. They were fast, thorough and kind. I would recommend them to anyone and definitely use them for any further needs.

This is the second time I had Universal Windows come out - the first time they replace 6 windows in my sun room and my living room window. I was so impressed with the first job that Ben and Bill did, I did not hesitate to have them come out the measure/install the rest of my windows and door. I could not open my aluminum windows and could see daylight between the frame and the door - now I can open windows with one hand and my door is sealed tight and you can not feel any air coming through - what a delight. I JUST LOVE MY WINDOWS.

We really wanted wooden framed windows and the sales person kept trying to sell us vinyl windows. We have a historic home and that would not look good with the rest of the house.

Avoid this company! At a home remodeling expo I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate for new doors. However, when the rep (salesman?) arrived he said that it is company policy that the owner of the home must be present at the "presentation" and "signing off." My son owns the house but his primary residence is in another state--so the requirement that an owner (who lives in another state no less) must be present for a "presentation" is ridiculous. I couldn't help but think that this requirement is a tip-off that this company engages in the practice of pressuring individuals to make a decision to purchase at the time of the "presentation" rather than simply providing an estimate for comparison with other companies. My son requires at least three estimates for any work done at this house and I have been his agent for getting estimates as well as for supervising any work that is done. No other company we have dealt with for any kind of work or service has required my son to present, especially for an estimate. Needless to say, we are no longer considering Universal Windows Direct for the doors and have had no problem getting estimates from several other companies instead.

I purchased 4 windows from this provider. At the time of installation they were professional and cleaned up after themselves. Two of the windows were bay windows. One of which has been leaking since it has been installed in January 2014. I've made several service calls and each time they came out, their solution was to caulk which has NEVER worked. Todd, the service manager, came out and said it was my roof and gutters because they were old. However, my gutters are five (5) years old and have screen protection. He advised me to have a carpenter build a roof above the bay window. The old bay window prior to Universal's window never leaked, ever! So obviously I said "no" to the roof addition above the bay. In October 2015, as a result of a wind storm, shingles were blown from the roof so I replaced the roof and the roof above the bay window. I knew that if my roofer worked on the bay window, it would void my warranty so I called Universal and spoke with Todd who advised me that it was okay for the roofers to address the roof shingles on the bay window and that he would mail me a letter stating the situation, the fact that he is aware of the roof work and that it would not void my warranty. Todd also stated that he would come out and assess the leak again. My warranty expired January 23, 2016. Todd sent someone out. The guy asked me what I wanted, took measurements and said that Todd would be in touch. I haven't heard from him since. I've worked with Universal each service call. I've had two professional roofers to come out and both have said my roof and the gutters are fine. I believe you have to work with contractors to solve problems so I did just that. Todd, after one service call stated it was fixed and if it leaked that he would install a new window. It continued to leak but I didn't want a new window. I want the one I had reinstalled. I was even going to pay for the wood work which was $1,600. Todd was not honest and forthcoming. At one point he refused to do the work because he said he was frustrated. Then later called back and apologized but still never fulfilled what he promised. Now I have mold abatement because of the poor work and have to hire someone else to do the work. A simple reinstallation would have prevented all of this.

I put in an online request for information, and was contacted the next day. We made an appointment for the day after that, and the salesman who came was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He helped me make the right choice of windows for my house, and did not try to oversell. The windows were completed ahead of schedule, and a team was available to put them in immediately. I could tell this team had worked together for a long time, because each had a job to do and each did it well. We have six cats, and they did the room first where the cats would be the most comfortable. I had nine windows put in, one of which was lengthened by one foot which involved minor construction, and they still were finished in under five hours. They used drop cloths everywhere, and my house was cleaner when they left than when they got there. They designed and made a beautiful oak frame around the picture window that was enlarged, and it is so beautiful I bought designer shades rather than cover it with drapes. I could not be more pleased. Thanks to Luke, the salesman, Walt who measured them, and Dan's awesome team that installed them. Oh, and I needed new shutters because of the larger window, and Dan told me the sizes and the kind to buy and the best place to get them and came back and put them on after I bought them. Way above and beyond! I highly highly highly recommend this company!
