Once our project was laid out, HCP and its staff were on time, on schedule and extremely resourceful when it came to issues with the weather, and delivery of materials. I would highly recommend this company and its management especially Joe Gallo, President and George Beros, Operations Manager, who have gone above and beyond what I would consider necessary for our project. The entire process took approximately 7 days, much of which was delayed by rain and storm conditions. Great job, great team, highly recommend!
Description of Work: HCP Construction conducted waterproofing and general repairs on the exterior of my property. They were referred to me by friends in the restaurant and real estate business in Cleveland and Toledo.

Horrible! What should have been a three day job lasted 23 total days and we had to finally tell them we would finish. We went 24 days without air conditioning. 23 day without a fence to let our dog out. They completely damaged both our front and back yards, damaged siding, damaged our sidewalk, damaged our fence, damaged a gas line, damaged landscaping and made a mess of our neighbors driveway. After 23 days of them trying to fix all of there damages to our property, we decided to do the remainder of the work ourselves. During the waterproofing process, OSHA was called due to unsafe working conditions. They tried to bury wood along with backfill, they buried bricks and garbage. They had to be babysat the entire process. A total nightmare. I hope no one had to experience what we had to go through. I have about two hundred pictures, taken daily beginning, end and during each day.

Response from HCP Construction
[Member name removed] is correct about 1 thing, it did take too long for HCP Construction to complete the work. What she fails to mention is that during the 23 days of her job, it rained for 16 of them. If anyone reading this understands the process of waterproofing, it cannot be done in a downpour nor can it be done, the day after heavy rain. She fails to mention that HCP had issues with her neighbor who repeatedly parked vehicles with the intention to obstruct work being done, and repeatedly stood and watched the entire process, calling the City on several occasions, alleging there were issues which did not exist. This neighbor according to [member name removed], her roommate [member name removed], and the neighbors wife, sadly suffers from OCD. He insisted that his driveway must be "power washed" each time HCP worked in the area. NOT part of any reasonable process. She also fails to note that in the end, all of the issues were in fact resolved. That HCP Construction brought in over 8 tons of topsoil and over 8 tons of fill dirt to satisfy her requests. That for all intents and purposes virtually the entire yard was redone and re seeded at NO ADDITIONAL COST TO HER. She fails to mention that NOWHERE in the contract she signed does HCP Construction (nor any other Company doing similar work) take any responsibility or liability for areas in which the digging occurred. Waterproofing makes a mess. In this case, larger than usual due to circumstances. Additionally, she fails to mention her illegally buried electrical line, and illegally buried gas line, both leading to the garage, both of which were not installed according to code. In the end, the job was finished to code, and signed off by the City in which she lives. Further, she executed a Customer Satisfaction Release (which we can provide) and moreover, paid her final bill. We have pictures as well... This job was difficult and went on too long. But it was done, and done correctly. The customer received far and above the money that was paid in terms of service.

Run. Run as fast as you can away from this company. Joe Gallo & George Beros (the owner and manager) will do nothing but rip you off, lie to you and steal from you. The project i had contracted with Joe & George with was supposed to cost an estimate of 50-60K; I mistakenly gave them over a hundred thousand in believing there was more labor involved. They ran off with over 50K and completed only about 20 thousand worth of work. None of the subcontractors were paid. HCP employees are still without their pays checks. When the city building department asked for building plans the architect did not even have a license to practice. No permits were ever applied for by Gallo or Beros. When Joe Gallo, George Beros and HCP were fired they resorted to defaming my character by lying to everyone and saying I did not pay them. They placed a fraudulent mechanic's lien against my building, and they stole all the building materials I had paid for. DO NOT EVER USE HCP

There is always two sides to the story and Mr. (member name removed) failed to pay his bills not only with HCP but with many food vendors as well as advertisements and equipment companies in the area. (member name removed_ intended to fraud not only HCP but many others to get his operation running for free, and thinking because he gloats about how much money he has and how his attorneys can't be beat because he litigates with everyone because he has deep pockets. In the State of Ohio we have lien rights as contractors when you don't get paid. There is no fraud against this as (member name removed) may suggest. We have done well over 150k in work for (member name removed) and if he would do his homework and learn that remodeling a food operation typically runs in the $100 per foot for a simple remodeling plan. Most new restaurants spend close to $600 a foot to build out a space. (member name removed) will understand when we proceed with foreclosing on the property July 2014

The crew arrived as scheduled, Tues, Aug 20, and Wed, Aug 21, the 5 man crew was on site and efficiently removed the existing concrete, and set forms for the new conrete. Rain was forecast for Thurs, Aug 22, so work related to the decorative concrete was postponed until Fri, Aug 23. Fri, Aug 23, the 5 man crew was again on site to install the decorative concrete for 2 patios. Sat, Aug 24, a 3 man crew was on-site to clean the decorative concrete, cut expansion joints, and apply the cure/sealer. The crew was friendly, considerate of the landscaping around the work area, and cleaned up construction debris throughout the process. The basic concrete work was well done. The driveway looks great, and at this time, we have no known concerns regarding the driveway installaton. We have multiple issues with the decorative concrete, as well as concerns re the future with the decorative concrete. Per our August 15 email (Color choices) to ?Agosti34?, we requested ?a wood grain effect at the edges.? That requirement was not communicated to the on-site crew. Result: the on-site crew did not have access to the required stamp. The issue was not identified until after the concrete for the large patio had been poured, other decorative stamping was in process, and the edge was being finished. When the homeowner located a resource for the missing ?wood grain? stamp, the crew did not use the appropriate tool to imprint the stamp on the smaller patio. The homeowner observed the crew using a hand/fist to pound the stamped pattern into the concrete. Result: The wood grain effect is not consistent and does not appear to be as defined as would have occurred had the appropriate tool been used to stamp the concrete. Decorative stamping of the majority of the decorative concrete (aka the ?field? vs the ?edge?) is not consistent. Result: Some areas on the larger patio were not stamped. In several locations, leaves were between the concrete and the stamp pattern, resulting in imperfections in the final stamp impression. In the smaller patio, what appear to be straight lines from the edges of the stamp form are observed in the finished surface. The crew was challenged to layout the homeowner requested expansion joint cut-pattern (diamond). The homeowner worked with the crew to ensure the requested pattern was laid outas requested. The homeowner also observed the crew cut the joints, noting the issues with the initial saw provided by ?Aldo?, and the subsequent use of the larger hand-held saw. Result: Irregularities in some of the expansion joint cuts, including cuts moving off a straight line, and chips along the edges of the cuts The crew had originally told the homeowners they would be able to walk on the decorative concrete after 24 hours. However, after application of the cure/sealer, the crew stated they had ?put on extra?, and requested the homeowners stay off the finished concrete for 48 hours. The homeowner questioned the crew about the appearance of bubbles in the finish. The crew assured the homeowner the bubbles would ?disappear?. The next morning, the bubbles had hardened in the finish. The homeowner also noted excess cure/sealer by a fence post on the small patio, as well as in expansion cuts. Follow-up: the crew used a solvent to remove the appearance of the bubbles from the surface of the large patio. Result: The homeowners have concerns re the long term affect of the over-application of the cure/sealer. After researching ?concrete seal bubbles? on the Internet, the homeowners believe the issue resulted from over-application of the cure/seal on concrete that was warmer than recommended by the sealer manufacturer. Documentation suggests potential future issues, including but not limited to the appearance of additional bubbles with future application of sealer, seal turning white, or flaking/peeling off due to the over-application. The contractor has agreed to Seal the concrete again before winter. Originally the homeowner was asked to reseal after 2-3 months.

Origionally I called Celima Cement to repair the driveway drain. Because of a broken pipe collar, the grate would not lay flat. Every time I drove over it, the grate flipped over. I think the damage was done by my snowplow service because the lip of the grate stuck up over the surface of the drive. They did a fantastic repair/replacement job. The driveway drains better, the grate lid now lies flat thus preventing a reoccurance of such damage. Casmos noticed a large section of the driveway tilting toward the house, instead of away from it and this would have caused major water drainage problems within a couple of years. The improper pitch was due to settling when that wall was waterproofed. There was also noticable settling of the porch and step. That is why the step was also replaced. Now there is a nice "V" pitch to the drive and the distance from the step to the porch is much better. The job was done by early afternoon. They cleaned up everything and put a caution tape across the driveway to prevent a car from accidently driveing on the new cement before it cured which usually take 5 days. Casmos called the night before, was on the job promptly the next morning. He returned all his calls promptly and was always courteous. I get a lot of compliments on the work Cosmos did.
Description of Work: Driveway drain repaired. Broken drain removed and replaced. Large section of driveway cut away and replaced. First step to porch removed and repoured.

I would only give him a B in punctuality because he was supposed to do the work while I was gone with my brother who is handicapped. But he is an older Italian gentlemen and had some trouble understanding. He wanted to start as soon as we got back, and when he started it was done in two days. He works the entire time with the crew. With all the work that they did busting and cutting up concrete and laying the forms in the gravel it was all done in two days, very quick. My neighbors were very impressed. Quite a few business cards were requested from my neighbors. I found him comparable in price to other companies I had priced but he did have a coupon in a magazine for $500 off that I used.
Description of Work: He redid a lot of our driveway, patio, and curbwork. We have an apron that the handicap ramp comes down on and he repoured that.
