Still waiting for the deposit for the work that was never started. My mom called him and he argued with her on the phone and yelled at her.
Description of Work: They have not done anything. They said they were going to give deposit back but they won't answer calls anymore. My mom is a senior citizen and I think they are trying to take advantage of her.

The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with! Signed contract May 30, 2014. Kelson Hess owner said he would start in two weeks and should be done in a couple weeks. Well it is August 12 and I have had nothing but black paper on my roofs since June! He does nothing but make one excuse after another for why his "crew" can't finish the job right now! It's the weather, his guys are sick, stuck on another job etc.. Has lied about ordering material(never ordered anything) having a business partner( he has one when he won't admit to not doing something). I paid half down on May 30 and have nothing to show for it!!! Found out today that 12 days after I signed the contract his company filed for bankruptcy!! STAY AWAY FROM SCARLET AND GREY!!!!

Not well. Was paid in September and did not start until October. Finally, he stopped and walked off the job. We had to hire the Amish to finish the block and repour the footers.

The roof part with Mr. Hess was fine he sub contracted this out and the 2 man crew was always there on time and did there best to please us. It was not until Mr Hess's block crew came in that the problems began. They had to hand dig the footers and then pour then the concrete. The footer were to be 24 inches wide and 1 foot deep. Mr Hess did say that in some please the footer would not be 24" but only a few inches shot. When the block were being laid I noticed that the blocks were not coming out to the edge of the house and in some places the block were as much as 4 to 5 inches under the house and when I asked about this he said that you would not notice this. But when we noticed that the block were being stair stepped out 2 or more inches over the last row for more then two rows he got defensive with us. When we looked close at the footers they were at ground level in places and only about 8 inches wide and the bottom row of blocks were stepped over the edge of the footer 2 inches. Again when we asked bout this he got defensive and told us that he was the contractor and since it was a hard job with all the hand digging that was how it was going to be. The crew came when they wanted to and left when they wanted some times only working 4 hour a day. We had a friend that is also a contractor he stopped by to look at the house. He told us that the blocks had to come out to the end of the house and by stair stepping the block that much it would not be very sound he also stated that the footers were not even clear out to edge of the house and that is why the block were stepped out over the edge and they needed to be to the edge of the house or a little pass. When we asked Mr. Hess about this he got mad and sent his crew to get their things. He never came back to fix of finish the job which left our house open to the elements with our water line and sewer lines to freeze. To this day he has made not effort to make this right with us nor has he offered any of the money back. He will not take any call from us. We turned him into the BBB. he lied about things until I went to the local court house and did some digging. He then said that every contractor has problems and would not comment on the fact that he had another company that was call Hess construction and he did the some thing to other people. So please dig a little deeper. If I had done a search for Kelson Hess instead of Scarlet and Grey I would never have hired him.
Description of Work: They were to put a tin roof and the house and raise the house up 3 to 4 inches and add a 24 inch footer with a 5 block high wall for a new foundation with H- beam supports.
