Jennifer Braman's assessment of our oak tree went very well. Before she began her assessment, she spoke to me and asked some questions about the tree, pesticides used on our yard, any waterproofing or sewer work affecting the yard, and how long we'd lived here. She then conducted the assessment on her own. I was inside during her inspection.
Description of Work: Jennifer, an ISA Certified Arborist, came to our property to do a risk assessment on a large oak tree in our front yard. The tree seemed sturdy, solid and healthy, but given the number of trees that were blown down in our area last October, my husband and I wanted to be certain. We didn't want our tree to pose any danger to anyone, our own house or our neighbor's houses. Jennifer came right on time. She was very polite and personable. She started by asking me some questions about the tree and yard. She asked about any trimming of the tree, use of pesticides on on our lawn, how long we'd lived here. She then spent approximately 2 1/4 hours mainly inspecting the tree, but also noting other trees on our property and in the neighborhood. Jennifer used a resistograph to drill four holes in the trunk to determine the amount of decay within the tree. Jennifer briefly discussed her findings with me after examining the tree. Fortunately, the oak could remain on our property and she gave us some recommendations about further monitoring of the tree. A week later she sent us a more detailed report on her findings. I highly recommend Jennifer Braman for risk assessment of trees. I could tell this line of work is not just a career but a true calling for her.

Jennifer came to our new house to assess the health of large oak trees on our property. She arrived on time and was extremely thorough in her assessments. She took the time to explain the results and shows us immediate findings while she was still on our property, she later provided a report for each tree. Jennifer risk rated each tree and we utilized that information to determine whether or not we should have them removed or treated. We had two trees removed and the amount of decay and disease inside the trees was just what Jennifer expected. We are extremely thankful for Jennifer's accurate assessment and care and concern for our property.
Description of Work: We had large, old oak trees on our property assessed by Jennifer.

She is knowledgeable, appreciated and answered all my questions, and helped me sort out what were the most important tasks to take on in what order based on safety and my own priorities. I have asked her to return to do root collar excavation on two trees; she suggested that if I wanted, I could work with her to learn how to do this. This is something that interests me, and I intend to do that. The two and a quarter hours were thoroughly enjoyable; it was like having a private botany lesson with a patient, supportive teacher. I have a detailed list of how to care for trees and shrubs on my property, plus tips on how to select plants and referrals for other professionals to do work on my trees. I have already recommended Jennifer to two people, and will continue to do so.
Description of Work: Jennifer Braman provided tree risk assessment for our two ash trees which have emerald ash borer infestation. She also walked our entire property with me, and provided information on the health of every tree and shrub, and how to maintain them.

Two days ago in a bizarre accident, my favorite tree was severely wounded by a car, stripping off a huge portion of bark. Realizing that this was likely a fatal injury, I attempted "first aid" and checked the list for a Certified Arborist: I knew that I would get the best advice from a tree specialist! I was excited when Jennifer answered the phone late Friday afternoon and agreed to come the next morning. She set to work quickly with scalpel (sharp Swiss Army knife) and alcohol, while teaching me about the vascular physiology of the tree. She then attacked numerous root suckers around the base, to help give it the best chance, and explained the post-op care that I will provide. I want people viewing this report to appreciate the vast knowledge and credentials that a Certified Arborist can bring to bear on your tree or landscape problem. Jennifer is most eager and generous to teach as she goes and keeps up with the latest scientific information. She is passionate about her work. After 2+hours of surgery on a cold, gray windy day, the tree has been placed on life support. Long-term prognosis is guarded, but I hope it will linger on for a few more years of enjoyment.
Description of Work: Emergency "surgery" on a special tree injured in a car accident. Consultation and education about other trees and shubs.

after having the unfortunate experience of using two top angie's list landscapers and having my trees and shrubs butchered (some beyond repair), i had the great fortune of finding jen braman. she was recommended by someone in the neighborhood. she let me speak to her for several hours about my landscaper woes and took the time to go through the yard, assess the damage, and figure out a way forward. it is obvious from spending minutes with her that she knows nature. she is a certified arborist, as well as an avid gardener. she was able to save much of my yard : shrubs that had been attacked by beetles and unscrupulous landscapers, a tree that was never installed properly, other bits of nature that were being choked by ivy and crowded out by weeds. she gladly and thoroughly answered all questions till i had a full understanding. she tought me what was a weed and what was not. everyone who sees my yard comments on how lovely it looks. she doesn't take a single short cut. everything she does, she does 100%. when jen spotted what looked liked poison ivy in my yard, she (at no charge) took a sample to the nature center to get confirmation. when i got the sad news that a beloved tree would have to come down, she had a friend fom the forestry service come (at no charge) to give me a second opinion and to ease my mind that i would be doing what needed to be done. when my power went out, she came down to the basement with me and tried to teach me about my fuse box. i could go on and on about the high level of integrity that jen braman displays. she was a pleasure to work with and i look forward to working with her for as long as i have a yard.
