I emailed Morry with a list of things I needed to be done. He replied and said he could do them all. We set up a date for the next week. He said he'd be there between 12 and 3, and showed up at 2. He explained his charges and his process. I showed him all of the items that needed done. He suggested that I do something different than I wanted with the washtub pipes in the basement, to save money. His suggestion was spot-on and I went with that. It took him an hour and a half to do all the jobs I wanted done. He showed me everything and waited for my approval. Once everything was approved he cleaned up and we settled the bill. I've never hired a handyman before but my experience with Morry was great! I'll definitely hire him again. I've already given his card to everyone in my family that lives in the area. He's really serious about customer satisfaction (he gave me a follow-up call the next day) and will be honest about what he can and can't do. I tried to hire him for a project before but he said it was not something he could do, and sent me a great referral. That's why I called Morry this time, because I liked his honesty - and it paid off for me!
Description of Work: I had Morry hook up a water line for my refrigerator's ice maker, tack some water pipes to the basement wall that had been sort of hanging in mid-air, cap the gas line behind my stove and tighten my toilet.

Our large glass sliding door came off the track and some of the attachments were weathered and broken as well. We called Morry early Saturday afternoon and he came over within a half hour to reinstall the door. I highly recommend Morry the Handyman LLC and will use this company again.

Morry squeezed us in on a Saturday so we could get the heat working in my wife's art studio on the 3rd floor. he showed up when he said he would and did the work in a reasonable amount of time.
Description of Work: repair electric baseboard heater
Morry was leaving for vacation the day I called him. As the items we needed repaired had been long-standing problems, it was no problem to schedule the work after his vacation. As it happened, our kitchen faucet broke the day before his scheduled visit. From the very beginning, Morry was professional and tackled each item needing his attention. We were very pleased with Morry's performance.
Description of Work: We called Morry as we had a list of items needing repair in our 18-year old home. The dryer was taking 3 hours to dry a load, we had water damage in a ceiling from the bathroom above, we needed a new light fixture installed in our home office, the front door knob and lock weren't operating efficiently. Our bathroom needed a new shower head to be installed. Our kitchen faucet had just broken the day before. Morry systematically went through our punch list of items and fixed everything (with the exception of the kitchen faucet which needed a new part, however he put a temporary fix on it till the part comes in). He was able to determine the cause of the leak and caulked all around our upstairs bathtub solving the water damage issue.

It went very well. On my phone call, Morry let me know his availability and asked all the right questions to see if the door was a custom size and to better understand my requirements. We scheduled an appointment, but also planned for him to stop by the next day and measure. During his measurement, Morry decided he could save us the cost of a new door and fix the old right then and there. And with a few more minutes, he fastened a dryer vent that had broken loose. Very helpful and quick and professional.
Description of Work: He fixed our screen door. The door is our main entry with two young boys and the spring arm closer had been ripped off and the latch was also broken. Morry repaired both of these in a half hour and still had time to fasten a dryer vent that had broken loose.

Average at best. Prior to Morry coming to our home, at his request, I had spent a good half hour putting together a detailed, organized list of what we had wanted to be done. I then emailed him the list. We also talked about this on the phone after he received the list. Christmas eve day he arrived. Our priority for the days job was for him to replace a microwave above our stove where an existing microwave was.....at the onset he asked me to help him due to the fact he is a solo guy. I helped, yet he was having trouble figuring out how to get the microwave out...after several attempts I suggested he try 2 screws that seemed to be holding the microwave in place.....it worked and out came the microwave. Afterwards he brought the new microwave in from the garage to look at----I asked him to be careful because he seemed to be dragging the box on the floor as opposed to lifting it......he said it would be fine. Because the new microwave was a larger size he said he would need to cut some tile out of the existing backsplash to make the oven level. He seemed a bit uncomfortable with that for some reason. Again, he asked me to come and look. I made some suggestions...perhaps he should mud the back? Add some additional tile? He said he could add some tile. He did not have the material, I did, and I supplied it for him. Eventually the microwave was installed. It does however have a few dents on the bottom, not that noticeable, unless you really look. However, I believe it was from Morry dragging the box as opposed to lifting it. The other jobs he did were VERY simplistic and he did not perfect them. The hinge on the door is fine, yet the cabinet does not close perfectly. The eyeball light fixture's trim is not snug against the ceiling as it should be either. All in all it was just ok. What truly irritated us was that he actually charged us for the time he spent talking with me about the jobs needing to be done after we had gone through them 2 times prior to his arrival. Why should I have spent so much time emailing him, if that were the case? I find that to be wrong. In addition he charged a $39.00 service call, no big deal, yet he also charged a $5.00 fuel surcharge......isn't gas cheaper today than it has been in how long???? I truly feel that Morry felt as though because I found him on Angie's list and because all his reports were good he felt like he had a shoe in. We had scheduled, at the onset, prior to his first visits 2 additional days for other work. We have since canceled. Nice guy, but not up to my expectations.
Description of Work: Replaced microwave. Fixed a cabinet hinge. Readjusted a sliding cabinet door in garage. Swapped out a regular light fixture to an "eyeball" fixture.
Morry was able to fit us in his schedule much earlier than originally thought. He was friendly, explained everything in detail, and treated us all with respect, even my two-year old son that kept bugging him.
Description of Work: Repaired a faulty toilet assembly and installed a ceiling fan.

I like Morry. I can tell he's a good guy and he does care about his customers-but I think he could care more about them. I have two issues with my experience: First, hidden costs and second, work not completed as well as it should have been. First, Morry quoted me $65/hr over the phone and this was a large part of the reason I selected him. When he showed up to perform the work, he mentioned that "a friend" would be stopping by to help get him started and would that be alright. "Sure," I said. What Morry didn't tell me what that he was billing me for his "friends" time. This made the project nearly $100/hour. Second, Morry and his friend together couldn't figure out how to get the crown molding to work in one area of the room. Now, don't get me wrong-it's a tough area and one of the main reason I PAID SOMEONE ELSE to do it. So, having him not be able to do it made me wonder if I shouldn't have gone with the more expensive guy to begin with. In the end, my gripe falls also on me for not being more aggressive. Morry charged me and I paid and I should have argued for a reduction in the billing. But I have the apparently naive belief that if you say you'll do something and don't do it right, you should acknowledge it. If it were me, I'd have voluntarily knocked $$ off the price. Apparently, not doing so is part of Morry's personal touch.

The toilet was not steady. I received an estimate from a plumber of several thousand dollars. The plumber wanted to replace the pipes, which he estimated would take 1.5 days. Morry said the problem was caused by the tilt in my bathroom floor. The toilet just needed to be leveled. It took less than 10 minutes, so I asked him to replace the electrical outlet. He asked if there was anything else, so I asked him to replace the shower light. I had bought a replacement light, but it was the wrong size and I didn't buy all of the required parts. He offered to pick up a new light and complete the installation the next day. I was very satisfied with his work and have recommended him to friends and family.

Although he was an hour late, he DID come on a Sunday and did not charge us anything different than he would have for a weekday. Overall, we would definitely recommend Morry and use him again.
Description of Work: We had several problems that needed to be fixed. We knew something had fallen in our garbage disposal, but could not find it. He was able to find and remove it. Our sink and tub (in the same room) was backing up. He snaked both and advised us on how to, hopefully, prevent this from happening so often. We thought one of our lighting fixtures had stopped working, but Morry discovered it was a minor problem. We had a defective package of light bulbs. Obviously, this was not a repair, but it did resolve the problem and it was something of which we never would have guessed!
